“We call on you to recuse yourself from involvement in any issues relating to the criminal prosecution of your former aide, I. Lewis ‘Scooter’ Libby, including the issue of a potential pardon, and to refrain from further public comment on the prosecution.”
These requests are prompted, in part, by your reported comments in which you stated your hope that “our system will return a final result consistent with what we know of this fine man,” and by reports that Administration officials expect you to press for a pardon in internal White House debates. [...]
The Executive Branch must speak through one voice on matters of criminal prosecution. We would hope a sitting Vice President would not suggest that the Government seeks any result other than that sought by the prosecutors representing the Department of Justice, or imply that the decisions of the trial court — both as to the validity of the verdict or the proper sentence — should be undone.
Yeah Cheney, STFU!
June 7th, 2007 at 5:16 pmYou mean like me giving out Presidential pardons to convicted drug dealers just because they were personal friends of Hillary? like this?
June 7th, 2007 at 5:24 pmGo figure.
June 7th, 2007 at 5:24 pmI think the Leahy response is merited towards the Dishonorable John Conyers.
June 7th, 2007 at 5:25 pmDarth Veeper is entitled to his opinion, which like assholes, everyone has.
June 7th, 2007 at 5:25 pmHe should, however keep said opinion to himself, if you will. His opinions are, in fact, in their last throes.
Yeah, doesn’t Cheney’s statement contradict the longstanding WH policy of not commenting on “ongoing legal proceedings” or whatever the hell they said to get out of talking about all the criminal probes surrounding the administration?
I mean, Scooter’s going to appeal; couldn’t Darth Cheney’s statement of support be seen as inapprorpriate?
June 7th, 2007 at 5:25 pmPAY ATTENTION TO ME!!!
I know you guy’s are probably getting tired of my “President Clinton” schtick, but its the only way I can get anyone to pay attention to me. I even tried walking to the store in just my panties and that didn’t work.
But i found that if I pretend to be President Clinton (even though she hasn’t even been elected yet!) and say things that sound like they might be real then you sheep on TP will get all upset about me and that’s all the attention I need. So thank’s sheep!
June 7th, 2007 at 5:31 pmI mean, Scooter’s going to appeal; couldn’t Darth Cheney’s statement of support be seen as inapprorpriate?
Comment by spit take
This whole administration is too “incestuous” with the DoJ and other departments, it’s not appropriate.
June 7th, 2007 at 5:31 pmConyers and Nadler-oh snap!
Seriously, the very idea that a s(h)itting vice president would press for any type of outcome for the trial is frightening. And then the notion that Libby will be pardoned…well, I think Cheney is on notice. Want that impeachment confrontation, Deadeye Dick? Ignore this message, and you drag the country closer to that day.
June 7th, 2007 at 5:35 pmPAY ATTENTION TO ME!!!
Comment by The Troll that can’t get their Own ID, Own Name, and instead must *pretend* to be what SHE fears – President Clinton — June 7, 2007 @ 5:31 pm
That pretty much sums up all of you lunatic wingnuts. You’re so st*pid, fearful and lonely, all you can do is *whine* so someone pays attention to you. You’re a boring, st*pid little git.
June 7th, 2007 at 5:36 pmOur system has already returned a result consistant with what we know: Libby lied and obstructed justice and he’s been sentenced to prison for it.
Wouldn’t it be nice if writing a letter to Cheney was all it took. Jeez, they’d be lucky if he so much as skims it, much less read and take the suggested action.

B R E A K I N G !
scooter libby’s team just filed their
arguments in favor of his being
free on bond during his appeals. . .
and i will show you — in images and
in text — why scooter ought to buckle
up for the bus to camp-fed!
he is not likely ot be free on appeal.
their best argument, isn’t much of
an argument, at all. . .
do take a look!
June 7th, 2007 at 5:49 pmConyers and Nadler just made a boneheaded move.
Cheney had opened the door to further comments on the Plame leak by breaching the previous WH policy embargoing answers on “ongoing proceedings.” Now Cheney can refuse to answer by saying he is merely adhering to the requests of the Congressmen.
June 7th, 2007 at 5:51 pmSince Cheney has testified that he told Scooter about Plame for he to be now running around professing his innocence is to deny the facts that he hhimself testified to! The courts have found him GUILTY. He has utter disregard for the law and for truth. IMPEACH THEM ALL NOW
June 7th, 2007 at 5:52 pmCheney Bush Gongo Hadley Rice OUT NOW!
We can’t last until the next election!
Cheney,
as you are so fond of saying “Go F*@& yourself”
Impeach, Convict, Sentence, Repeat
Gonzales, Cheney, Bush – in that order.
June 7th, 2007 at 5:53 pmConyers and Nadler > stop the baloney and impeach Dick Cheney!

Great work covering the Cheney/Scooter Watch, nolo. Thanks.
June 7th, 2007 at 5:54 pmDirty Dick belongs in a cell right next to “Scooter”.
June 7th, 2007 at 6:12 pmHe’d probably p*ss his pants faster than Paris Hilton did.
I’m impressed … really impressed.
“We would hope a sitting Vice President would not suggest that the Government seeks any result other than that sought by the prosecutors representing the Department of Justice, or imply that the decisions of the trial court — both as to the validity of the verdict or the proper sentence — should be undone.”
This says to Dicky that he’s representative of the government that found Libby guilty. So act like it or else.

June 7th, 2007 at 6:18 pmNot too much respect left for Conyers. He has sullied himself. He came out hell bent on exposing all sorts of terrible things the Bush administration has forced upon us. Then he just went limp. He posted on blogs, such as Kos, and wow what a reception. Now he is just another panderer and I suspect he cares not what anyone thinks as long as he can keep his seat and he will do so by, well by keeping his pecker limp.
Sorry, I am so disgusted at the way this country is being governed. I am fast losing faith in the concept of honesty, loyalty and doing the right thing. NO ONE on both sides of the aisle is inclined to do the right thing AND THAT IS TO BRING DOWN THIS REGIME.
What a disgrace and what a shame, as well as a sham. I may just not even bother to vote, since already, we have seen Clinton being the forced upon us “front runner”–and she voted for the war. This fact is being ignored virtually by the Democrats. Jeebus frikkin chreest–she voted for the slaughter and the war and further wants to keep the spoils. NO ONE mentions it. The talks go on and on in the blogs. Supporters of Hillary never mention this fact. The invasion and the lies told to us is no longer a point of interest–just as she calculated. It is simply irrelevant and we the people are expected to “hold our noses” and vote for another war monger. Not me. Ever. If I should choose to vote this time around,.
June 7th, 2007 at 6:25 pmthey are asking the shooter? another fine example of the impotence facing our house. he must have scared them of bringing impeachment charges and demanding it of their colleagues. he has committed an impeachable offense now, what are you waiting for?
June 7th, 2007 at 6:26 pmare there any of you that would disagree that shutting down this war machine is a better option than allowing it to act in any way? why is it an option to allow criminals to continue unabated?

June 7th, 2007 at 6:57 pmROFL. I loved that letter from Conyers & Nadler. Their letters may even be better than Waxman’s. Now there’s some good letters. Rep. Conyers & Nadler have effectively reminded Herr Cheney of his place. He is ONLY the VP, after all. Perhaps any further comments on his part could now be construed as obstruction. Wonder if that makes Darth’s heart go pitter-patter.
June 7th, 2007 at 8:09 pmI would truely want to see the Cheney response to Conyers……………………..Very much so..
June 8th, 2007 at 3:09 amCheney to Reps. Conyers and Nadler , stop crying and playing the race card and walk around the block so you can drop some of that fat.
