While that is a factor, it’s not really a deciding factor. The Republican Party makes the call on which candidates to send to the governor and while I’m sure they will consider poll numbers, I doubt that they will base their choices on those polls. As already noted, it’s unlikely that the governor will select Cheney unless he’s convinced that she will be the weakest candidate when the seat next comes into open contention.

No. The Wyoming Republican Party chooses the three candidates from which the Wyoming governor must choose. They will not select such a candidate to send to the governor.

Nobody “has to rely” on anything. Wyoming already had 2 strong GOP senators; Lynne Cheney never had any plans to be one of them.

The three people that the Governor will choose from will be as follows: Lynne Cheney, Colin Simpson and Max Maxfield. He will then choose either Lynne Cheney or Colin Simpson. Either way, Wyoming gets a GREAT senator!

Wyoming law states that the Republican Party submit 3 names to the Governor and the Governor then picks which of those 3 will fill the vacant Senate seat. I find it far-fetched that the Democratic Governor would select Lynne Cheney for that position.

So we could have our own Democratic Republican. Bet there are some Democrats in Wyoming who just figure that the label Republican is safer. How about it, Wyoming citizens. Is that a possibility?
