Targeted U.S. attorney resigns.

Targeted U.S. attorney resigns.

“Wyoming’s U.S. Attorney Matthew Mead has announced his resignation, effective tonight at midnight, according to a press release from his office. Mead, a Jackson native, has served as the state’s U.S. attorney since 2001. … Mead recently learned that he was on a list of federal prosecutors that Justice Department officials considered firing last year. It remains unclear why Mead was on the list. He told the Star-Tribune in late May that he was ’surprised’ to learn his name was on the list.”

UPDATE: NBC: Mead “considered a replacement for Sen. Craig Thomas, who died on Monday.”

  2. JPV says:

Yeah, and the President is allowed to steal votes and obstruct justice as well. It’s just a job perk. Deal with it.

    Idiot.

Even the normal Repukes who Bushy put into the positions aren’t radical enough.

  4. ForTruth says:

    Yeah and Clinton.

Patrick1 when there is a Dem Prez in office, you will hate the stuff you spew today.

  5. Patrick1 says:

Wanted: Braindead Graduate of lowly Bible Lawschool. Experience of any kind not needed. Ability to take orders only. Bad memory helpful.

  7. Crump's Brother says:

He wont be considered for that spot if he wasn’t playing ball with the administration. Will he?

  8. VerbalKint says:

Patrick, I nominated you stupidest troll earlier today, dumber than Jake. Someone else suggested Michael might be dumber, but I’m on the fence about that.

Carter fired attorneys for political reasons.

Clinton fired all of the attorneys in 1993.

He serves to pleasure the President.

Verbal, I thought Michael WAS Jake?

Jeez, we really need a scorecard with these trolls.

  15. dogjudge says:

    Let’s think about this folks.

Wyoming can’t put in a Democrat because of their laws.

What a GREAT way to appoint a Republican who would oppose this President.

Knowing that you have someone who has been embarrassed by the President, etc.

So how do you think he’d vote on a measure to impeach Gonzales?

    What a GREAT, GREAT move.

  16. Thinking Person says:

We have the Wind River Reservation in Wyoming, and the Democrats have worked hard with the tribal leaders to get people registered to vote. Maybe Mead wasn’t pushing “voter fraud” and that’s what got him on the list.

He may well be the new senator to replace Craig Thomas. Our Gov Dave was a U. S. attorney before he was elected governor and will know him well.

  17. Zimzone says:

    Wyoming?

Wouldn’t President Cheney have something to say on this?

They need a bike rack at the voting place….

Gotta wonder how much more bullshit these US Attys are going to take before there is a mass resignation.
There is a graduation ceremony at Regent Law coming up, they could hand each graduate a plane ticket to their new assignment as they stumble off the podium…

I admire the man for resigning. I hope he stays away from all things Republican.

  23. Nanite says:

Matt Mead has more integrity in his little finger than Karl Rove, George Bush, Cheney and the entire whacko Republican Party has combined …

    Another one bites the dust…man.
