Shortly after MSNBC abruptly cut away from coverage of Gen. Peter Pace’s replacement (with producers screaming in the background) to return to Paris Hilton, an MSNBC anchor offered viewers this message:
UPDATE: Some quality news programming from “the most trusted name in Paris news.”
UPDATE II: “MSNBC was the first cabler to break the news of Peter Pace’s retirement this afternoon, at 12:31pm. ‘We’re bringing in breaking news from the Pentagon while waiting for Paris to come out,’ a control room producer said.”
Good lord, Paris dressed in SWEATS. That poor, poor girl.
June 8th, 2007 at 3:20 pmSend Paris to war, I don't want to hear about this bimbo anymore!
June 8th, 2007 at 3:20 pmStop covering this stupid cow, TP!

June 8th, 2007 at 3:22 pmThat anchor looks kind of scared, doesn't he?
June 8th, 2007 at 3:22 pmUn-effing-believable.
June 8th, 2007 at 3:25 pmSouth Park had an episode parodying her where she owned a chain of boutiques called "Stupid Spoiled Whore".
In reality, I hope she has a good life.
But the FATE of the USA in a LONG-TERM war "should" be more
IMPORTANT.
June 8th, 2007 at 3:25 pmThis is fun - I get to copy & paste some of my text from the post next door...
This is no surprise, the main stream media is also to blame for us being in Iraq. They are entertainment organizations, and simply propaganda wings of BushCo & the republican party. So much for the liberal media, a total myth.
June 8th, 2007 at 3:27 pmWe interrupt the news for this urgent triviaflash...
June 8th, 2007 at 3:28 pmdisgusting.
June 8th, 2007 at 3:29 pmThis was originally projected to up Paris' tough party-girl image, but once she started pouting and crying and complaining about her room temperature and other stupid, trivial things it became worthy of an episode of "Maury" or "Judge Hatchett."
Paris, you're supposed to be priming this experience into a "hot!" new reality show! Stop ruining it! Go to Jail!
June 8th, 2007 at 3:30 pmQueue more comedians making jokes about The ShawSkank Redemption again tonight......**groan**........

Naw. It's just the usual: "Mom, I'm on TV!" Same as the idjits at ballgames who stand up and wave like fools when the television camera might be pointed toward them. I hates 'em.
June 8th, 2007 at 3:39 pmThey love Paris...
Because she's a distraction from the more important issues of the world...
June 8th, 2007 at 3:42 pmParis's ass off to jail. That's hot! Move on please to other imporant issues in this country.
June 8th, 2007 at 3:43 pmyeah i havent watched cable TV 'news' in ages. its a goddamned circus
June 8th, 2007 at 3:44 pmThey love Paris because she increases ratings and they hate democracy because it doesn't.
June 8th, 2007 at 3:45 pmThis is just a joke BTW, don't get alarmed...
I am sad to have to report that Washington DC has been nuked by Iranian terrorists, and that George Bush and all of the Senators and Congressmen are also feared dead.
Dick Cheney, who was away from Washington at the time, is now the President of the United States.
His first act will be to order an immediate nuclear retaliation against Iran.
Also, do to the severity of the event, he has ordered that the upcoming Presidential elections will be postponed, indefinitely, in order to maiantain continuity of leadership in these troubling times.
Cut to the guy on the video screaming...
NOOOOOOOOO... NOOOOOO... NOOO... NOOO... NOOO... NOOO... NOOO...
June 8th, 2007 at 3:46 pmGeneral Pace was replaced by Paris Hilton???
Wha...?
June 8th, 2007 at 3:48 pmboohoo...memories of the bulldike Matron's large ham hands
June 8th, 2007 at 3:51 pmYes it just goes to show why the American people are not getting the full story on the war and other issues of the day.
But I guess it is much easier to stomach the Paris story than think about the war and global warming...
What a sad commentary on the priorities of the "news" channels...
June 8th, 2007 at 3:52 pmDisturbing!
Watch the video...
June 8th, 2007 at 3:52 pm#29...
June 8th, 2007 at 3:52 pmand that jittery dog Tinkerbell is now war czar. despite the absurdity i believe that team woudl actually have us out of Iraq quicker and with fewer dead... because ya know there arent any cool places to shop in Iraq and stuff... so not hot
"General Pace was replaced by Paris Hilton???"
Well, those damned liberal pundits kept on saying that "anybody could run this war better" so we're going to put it to the absolute test...
June 8th, 2007 at 3:53 pmThere's doodoo all over the prison walls eeeheee
June 8th, 2007 at 3:55 pmWhat with the jackass in the backgroung screamming NO, NO, NO???

June 8th, 2007 at 4:03 pmThe sheriff who released her has also been asked by the judge to explain why he shouldn't be held in contempt of court!
June 8th, 2007 at 4:04 pmWhat a funny story.
Why god, why must you torture us so?
Please, my kingdom for news not compromised by shameless circular celebrity worship, skewed priorities, and spineless stenographers.
June 8th, 2007 at 4:04 pm3,504 US troops killed and I can't get anything on the News except this Paris bullshit. WTF is wong with this country????

June 8th, 2007 at 4:27 pmI'd like to second the woman on the video going, "SHUT UP!" This is ridiculous. Bush could be bombing Iran right now for all we know, but apparently we're back to "All Paris, All The Time" TV.
June 8th, 2007 at 4:28 pmWe no longer refer to them as the "main stream media" because they do not present news that the main stream care about. They present news for the 28%ers.
From now on they are to be refered to as the mass media (because there is a lot of it) or the right wing propaganda machine.
It won't be until we stop calling it the main stream media that the rest of the country will stop.
The proof is in the fact that we started refering to the situation in Iraq as a civil war. Now everybody calls it that.
Let's work together people to start calling things what they truly are.
June 8th, 2007 at 4:33 pman MSNBC anchor holds up a page that reads
‘We love Paris'
Now, having been over to France in '84 (French class trip), I can honestly say it was lovely country, but Paris was just too, oh I dunno, just seemed that the citizens were to egotistical and snobbish. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the city, I just prefered the coastal towns myself (Normandy was especially humbling, even for a 17 year old senior in highschool at the time)
So....Love Paris? no. Like Paris? sure
ohhhh, ya'll are talking about Paris....Hilton, aren't you?
Well that's different.
I mean, seriously, who hasn't "loved" Paris?
Any word on conjugal visits?
I mean, seriously, who doesn't "love" the clap?
Clap on....clap off....the clapper
I'm outta here. Enjoy the weekend, and keep up the good fight!
June 8th, 2007 at 4:35 pmthis is an important story, it shows how our judicial system is broken and it prefers people that are rich.
it prefers me, kerry, edwards, my wife, Michale Moore, Al franken, Murtha, Pelosi, etc.
Paris got what she deserved!
and shhhhh....don't tell anyone, I called her and said that she would have visits from me....*wink, wink*.
June 8th, 2007 at 4:45 pmThousands of people dying in Iraq, and all CNN can do cover this ? Geez, wheer do these freaks get their education from?
June 8th, 2007 at 4:51 pmTake back our airwaves from rupert Murdoch et al...
...or lose our democracy...

June 8th, 2007 at 5:17 pmHEYOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But seriously, I thought you guys at TP would be above this sort of thing.
You know... I just thought that you would be more concerned with spreading anti-American propaganda...
Cha'know?

Mr. President, you know TP is merely using this Paris Hilton example to prove that the so called "liberal media" doesn't exist on the Boob tube. CNN, FOX, and the rest of the BOOB Tube networks are preoccupied with Paris Hilton, Anna Nicole, Britney, Lindsay, and the rest of the mind numbing crap designed to dumb down americans while the Republicans loot the treasury and steal any foreign natural resources they can get their greedy little fingers on....$21 trillion worth of oil in Iraq about to be plundered by the Bush administration...Think CNN & FOX will cover that?
June 8th, 2007 at 6:08 pmI remember once upon a time this kind of thing was left to the tabloids. And now - snickering - its news-worthy?

June 8th, 2007 at 6:40 pmOk, i'll take a stab. I thought the guy yelling out NO, NO, NO was funny. If he's doing it as a gag even more kudos. I love it when cable news takes a serious view of these things... the yelling out just shows the absurdity of the whole thing and I like it.

I'm disappointed that Keith Olbermann wasted a good 20 minutes on this, er, "story." Give me real news!
June 8th, 2007 at 10:18 pmI know a lot of people really could care less, but I thought it was kind of fun this morning. As Keith says, it's a guilty pleasure. Would I rather have watched two hours of them talking about Pace? HELL NO!!! Of course the news went overboard, but you guys act like any entertainment stuff that is in the news is beneath you.
June 9th, 2007 at 12:13 amCyril,
While I agree that it was Friday night and that's usually a time for levity, there is still an incredible amount of unlawful activity going on in this administration, and not enough of it is getting reported.
Against all the disrespect by virtually every top member of this administration (not least of which are the president and vice president) for the constitution to which each should have sworn an oath and the rule of law in general, exactly how important is Paris Hilton or American Idol?
I'll grant the American people some time for levity once they wake up and learn the facts about what their government has been doing for the past six years or so.
BTW, the news about Gen Pace was actually extremely important, as it has a direct bearing on our nation's future involvement militarily in Iraq. Whether Paris Hilton goes to jail for five days, 23 days, or 45 days, nobody will die because of it. Neither she, nor what happens to her, is of any real importance to anyone not trying to make a buck off her faux celebrity.
June 9th, 2007 at 2:33 am#36, that idiot screaming "no, no, no" was Jake Byrd. He works for Jimmy Kimmel, and he did that on purpose. He's Kimmel's "celebrity watcher".
June 9th, 2007 at 6:57 pmHere is it all in a little capsule. The two stories of the planet are the military that is out of control and a population too dumb to see it because they are focused on rich whores. Goodbye species.
