Moments ago, the no-confidence measure on Alberto Gonzales came up seven votes short of a procedural hurdle, passing 53-38. The vote was largely down party lines, except for seven Republicans who supported the measure (Coleman, Collins, Hagel, Smith, Snowe, Specter, Sununu) and Sen. Joseph Lieberman (I-CT), who opposed it.

UPDATE: Complete roll call vote is HERE.
F**king Leibermann. I hate that son of a bitch. And again, the Republithugs choose loyalty to party before loyalty to the rule of law, to the American way… they’re all f**king traitors.
June 11th, 2007 at 6:26 pmThe vote was largely down party lines, except for six Republicans who supported the measure (Coleman, Hagel, Smith, Snowe, Specter, Sununu) and Sen. Joseph Lieberman (I-CT), who opposed it.
In other words, the vote was down party lines except for Coleman, Hagel, Smith, Snowe, Specter, and Sununu.
June 11th, 2007 at 6:26 pmI think you missed Collins. Did Obama vote? If he did I missed it.
June 11th, 2007 at 6:27 pmWho didn’t vote,and why?
June 11th, 2007 at 6:27 pmEveryone who voted against this measure has officially declared themselves to be in support of this criminal administration.
The foxes have taken over the henhouse to such an extent that they can no longer be dislodged, short of burning the henhouse down.
June 11th, 2007 at 6:30 pmApparently, a loud enough message was not sent last November to penetrate the dense skulls in Washington.
June 11th, 2007 at 6:31 pmWere 7 Publicans who voted aye, you forgot Collins, Publican from Maine.
June 11th, 2007 at 6:32 pmThis was to be expected.
It’s all just a show, so that the Democrats can PRETEND that they tried.
Time to dump BOTH parties.
June 11th, 2007 at 6:33 pmMake that 38 Senators who don’t give a f@ck for the DOJ, the Constitution or the Rule of Law. They ought to be run out of the Senate and shot.
Worst Republican legislative enablers EVER.
June 11th, 2007 at 6:33 pmDid any Dems not vote? Or not show up?
June 11th, 2007 at 6:34 pmForget this shit — IMPEACH.
June 11th, 2007 at 6:35 pmdoes that mean that Sen. Specter apposed?
June 11th, 2007 at 6:36 pmGood job Reid. Another failure for the Dems in the Senate.
June 11th, 2007 at 6:37 pmGeez.
I hope you aren’t including LIEberman as one of the Senators crossing lines in this vote.
If LIEberman were to cross lines he would be supporting Democrats.
Who by the way should be removing the war hawk from any kind of position of power within the Democratic Party he does not support.
June 11th, 2007 at 6:38 pmConservatives (and inbred Bushites of ALL stripes)…
…HATE the rule of law…
…democracy…
…freedom…
…diversity…
…equality…
…justice…
…the Constitution…
…and AMERICA!
…DESTROY conservative/Bushite TRAITORS…
…save America…
June 11th, 2007 at 6:39 pmRichardson says he supports Gonzo because they’re both hispanic
June 11th, 2007 at 6:40 pmThat’s a man of character, for you
WE THE PEOPLE have no confidence in the “conservatives”.
June 11th, 2007 at 6:40 pmonly 38 votes? out of a possible 99? that’s sad.
June 11th, 2007 at 6:41 pmFor the next election – If Congresscritter X runs and X voted against the measure (that is pro-Gonzales) – the commercial writes itself:
X thinks Gonzales was doing a great job.
June 11th, 2007 at 6:41 pm(When even flower-child Specter said that he lost confidence.)
Many people are angry at Gonzales, but the anger seems to be more politically motivated than motivated by the facts. Is there any law that he has broken?
June 11th, 2007 at 6:42 pmLieberman showed “his true colors” today, didn’t he? Pig!
Also, the people have made due note of those Rethugs who were afraid enough of not being re-elected who voted with some conscience; conversely, those Rethugs who weren’t worried this time around about re-election had better watch their backs the next time they are up. The people have made “serious note” of who they are and they won’t have an ice cube’s chance in hell of ever being re-elected because they will be held personally responsible for destruction of the “rule of law” in this country.
June 11th, 2007 at 6:42 pmTime to de-fund the Department of Justice.
June 11th, 2007 at 6:42 pmI would like to Impunch the President
June 11th, 2007 at 6:44 pmAs we’ve all been saying, this horseshit would not be occurring right now if Bush and Cheney’s butts had been impeached right off the bat! Be careful what you ask for, Pelosi et al, when you say that impeachment is “off the table” . To Team Bush, that statement gave them “carte blanche” by the Congress! We’ve got hapless liars in Congress right now who have betrayed the people by caving in on the Iraq bill so anything short of impeachment will certainly guarantee their loss in 08! They’ve blown it and will continue to blow it and their lack of courage will be thrown in their faces when they campaign now. The people have lost faith in this new Congress. They now look like a bunch of simpering whimps.
June 11th, 2007 at 6:44 pmThis is why our government is so fucked up….These asshats just voted against a measure to bring a vote to something they would have forced them to reveal their postion on an issue that matters…Effectively running the Justice Dept. to protect and serve the American people. Gonzo may “serve at the pleasure of the presinut”…. but these hypocrite politicians serve “at the pleasure of the people”. And if their dumb, apethetic constituants knew how much these clowns voted against their best interests, they’d never be reelected….Just a big sham…a total sham against a totally ignorate base of constituants…
Just wake me again when it’s October 2008!!
June 11th, 2007 at 6:47 pmIf you’re so mad at the Democrats, why don’t you just vote for Republicans.
June 11th, 2007 at 6:49 pmPicking the nit with pigboy and TripMaster Monkey: You can’t say it was largely down “party lines” and claim Lieberman as a departure from that. If the comment were about “caucus lines” then it would be appropriate, but this vote from Lieberman’s “party” seems to be exactly what was expected.
June 11th, 2007 at 6:50 pmAs long as this continues to be another “do-nothing congress”, the votes to engage us in this amoral, illegal war will be the undoing of all candidates who voted FOR it…..which includes Hillary, Edwards, Lieberman, Biden – the frontrunners. They cannot be trusted with our faith any longer. Forewarned is forearmed and Hillary can’t even admit NOW that she’d made a horrendously costly mistake – both in lives and debt accruing against this country. She definitely cannot be trusted. Edwards is already dropping in the polls because his plans are “empty” – Obama is too unseasoned and oversimplified in his ideas without the necessary expertise and experience to not only run this country but to “undo” the serious harm which has been and is still being done right now.
I’m hoping for the appearance on the radar of the ONLY individual who can begin to salvage this rapidly disintegrating democracy (and perhaps save the planet as well) – the ONLY individual who can regain the sense of integrity and credibility this country once enjoyed on an international scale….
You got it! The ONLY individual whose become the “prophet of this generation” and the Savior, if there is such a thing – is AL GORE! Everything Gore prophesized from campaign finance reform to global warming is coming to fruition….He’s got more integrity in his pinky finger than everyone in the entire Bush Administration combined….but would he even consider attempting to right this sinking ship?? Only time will tell…..
Al Gore is the ONLY person who can save this country from itself.
June 11th, 2007 at 6:50 pmRoll Call vote link is on the Update, but it’s not up yet.
June 11th, 2007 at 6:51 pmGood, I’m glad to see that they still have complete confidence in good ol’ Alberto.
You know dems. and libs. and whoever else… pissing in the wind ain’t such a great idea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But, I guess you’ve learned that the hard way.
Just remember, don’t go smashing your head against a brick wall.
June 11th, 2007 at 6:51 pmIt’s all just a show, so that the Democrats can PRETEND that they tried.
Hard to say they didn’t try when all of them voted for it (who counts Lieberman as a Dem anymore). What’s really shameful are the Repub’s who we KNOW believe Gonzo to be a worthless boob, who voted against it anyway for reasons of putting party above the nation’s best interests. Can’t get much more naked than this example.
June 11th, 2007 at 6:51 pmNearly 72% (71.698113207+%) of the Senators voting, voted that they had no confidence in Alberto Gonzales. That doesn’t sound like a loss to me. Seven out of ten is better than six out of ten.
June 11th, 2007 at 6:51 pmThe Dems gave a chance to Gonzo to go without impeachment, but the Republican rubber stamp is alive and well. It’s time for impeachment to Gonzo. The sad part is the American people is not being informed in Media and Print as to the damage this has caused and danger that it inflicted upon the American people. Only the blogs have informed me of the crisis still lingering in the Justice Department.
June 11th, 2007 at 6:53 pmYawn.
Okay, now let’s all discuss how this is the fault of those meanie republicans.
Then we can talk about how under the brisk leadership of Harry Reid the senate was unable to pass a non-binding resolution voicing its “opposition” to the Iraq “war”, was “forced” to issue Bush another blank-check/rubberstamp supplemental funding bill for the war, and now was unable to pass a non-binding no-confidence vote for the most incompetent and sleazy Attorney General in recent memory.
All the while the blood continues to spill from the gaping wounds caused by our reckless and irresponsible use of the sword.
It is time to send a “no confidence vote” to congress in the form of all concerned and courageous Americans marching upon Washington DC and demanding change.
But, you’re right, what difference are two people shouting at the whitehouse going to make?
Pathetic.
June 11th, 2007 at 6:57 pmDems Not Voting:
Biden
Dodd
Johnson (ill)
Obama
Repubs Not Voting:
Brownback
Coburn
McCain
Stevens (voted “present”)
Wankers. Show up for your damned votes. It wouldn’t have made a difference, but we’re paying you to do a job, Senators.
June 11th, 2007 at 7:06 pmWell, maybe Gonzalez could use impeachment after all.
June 11th, 2007 at 7:10 pmUnfortunate accident on the way for Lieberman. I wish.
June 11th, 2007 at 7:10 pmCheck out who didn’t vote…Biden, Dodd and Obama on the Democratic side. And these guys want to be president. No leadership was shown by these Senator/candidates today. This is why I support Governor Bill Richardson for President in 2008. He is the only one that publically stated the he would remove our military from Iraq. Biden wants to divide up the country, Hilary will keep our military in Iraq and so will Obama.
June 11th, 2007 at 7:12 pmLieberman proves once again that he is just a piece of dirt.
June 11th, 2007 at 7:12 pmAl Gore is the ONLY person who can save this country from itself.
Comment by veritas
WRONG, Gore like ALL politicians on both sides, is a part of the problem.
Support Ron Paul, instead, if you want real change.
June 11th, 2007 at 7:13 pmTripMaster…,
The foxes have taken over the henhouse to such an extent that they can no longer be dislodged, short of burning the henhouse down.
You got that right. Where the matches or the lighter?
June 11th, 2007 at 7:15 pmThe GOP has kept up their track record of being miserable failures and do nothings. All for the party, the hell with the business of the people and the constitution, protect the thugs in the crime family. The upside is these bastards are going down in ‘08…what happened in November ‘06 was just a small sample of what is going to happen to them in ‘08. They are playing to the 28% made up of knuckle dragging troglodytes and forgetting about the 72% who see what they are doing. McConnel and Lott are not a smart as they would like think they are. Screw Cons, neo-cons, and the GOP.
June 11th, 2007 at 7:16 pmObama, McCain, and Biden apparently think they’re too “presidential” to take part in Senate votes anymore. They believe their taxpayer-funded salaries are now for conducting presidential campaigns far before they should reasonably start.
Giving up one job to vie for one you don’t have a great chance of getting – ALL PAID. I wish employers elsewhere did that….
Heck, at least Hillary made it…
June 11th, 2007 at 7:16 pmSupport Ron Paul, instead, if you want real change.
Comment by JPV — June 11, 2007 @ 7:13 pm
Vote for Ron Paul and you will get a president opposed to the war, but you also get the candidate endorsed by the ultra-rightwing Constitution party. Learn about what Ron Paul stands for before voting for him, because he sure as hell isn’t a progressive.
June 11th, 2007 at 7:17 pmMr. President,
Just what is happening today?
June 11th, 2007 at 7:17 pmWilco… Richardson does not support Gonzales. Get your facts straight.
June 11th, 2007 at 7:17 pmThis isn’t really disappointing. What real difference would it have made?
None.
Thanks and pick up your trash on the way out.
June 11th, 2007 at 7:18 pm#20 HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!!
“mike”, tell your boss that pretending Gonzales isn’t a corrupt lawbreaker isn’t selling.
June 11th, 2007 at 7:18 pmThanks for the actual roll count vote, TP! The people will now forget who we’ve now discovered our “enemies within” actually are!
June 11th, 2007 at 7:20 pmoh, and “mike”, I would tell you it was a nice try, but it wasn’t. It was lame. It was pathetic.
June 11th, 2007 at 7:20 pmThey should all be grossly ashamed of themselves and their capricious slant on the “rule of law” in this country. Sickos, all of them.
June 11th, 2007 at 7:20 pmREFRESH
June 11th, 2007 at 7:21 pmEvery last one of these “traitors to this democracy” will soon receive an “eviction notice” from the people who have placed them in office – just as easily, they can be ejected the next time around – and will be – every last traitorious one of them.
June 11th, 2007 at 7:22 pmI see that Chuck Bagel is a more reasonable Republican.
June 11th, 2007 at 7:22 pmIMPEACHMENT IS THE ONLY OPTION LEFT AVAILABLE TO THE PEOPLE. If Pelosi et al had done what the should have done when they took office, this country would not be having this discussion right now…..impeach now or pay the consequences….and we’ve just witnessed prima facie evidence of how the consequences will accrue over time.
June 11th, 2007 at 7:23 pm#47 “VerbalKint”. You didn’t answer my quesion. It is easy to insinuate that someone is “corrupt.” But can you tell me one law that he has broken?
June 11th, 2007 at 7:24 pmDo I have to correct you on this?
Joe Lieberman voted his paty line. He is not a Democratic party member. He is in the Joe Lieberman party of one.
The biggest failure of the left is in not acknowledging the right wing whackos in their midst.
June 11th, 2007 at 7:25 pmThere are 21 Republic Senators that will be seeking re-election next year. If they voted “nay” on the resolution to sanction Gonzales, then they have demonstrated that they are traitors to the Constitution of the United States. They will be held accountable in November of 2008.
SIGNED: The military that returned from Iraq in coffins draped with flags.
June 11th, 2007 at 7:26 pmList of Traitors to be posted in every public position possible:
Alexander, Allard, Bennett, Biden(coward), Bond, Brownback (coward), Burr, Chambliss, Coburn (coward), Cochran, Corker, Comyn, Craig, Crapo (crapcoward), DeMint, Dodd (coward), Domenici, Ensign, Enzi, Graham, Grassley, Gregg, Hatch (criminal), Hutchinson, Inhofe(Washwoman), Isakson, Johnson (coward), Kyl, Lieberman (sicko coward), Lott, Lugar, Martinez, McCain (coward), McConnell (criminal), Murkowski, Obama (coward), Roberts, Sessions, Shelby, Stevens (criminal bridgemaker), Thune, Vitter, Warner….
When these thugs come up for re-election, it should be noted that they voted DOWN the rule of law in this country. They are all TRAITORS to this democracy. Post it everywhere you can.
The real truth about these thugs is now out in the open for everyone to see. They’ll each rue this day and this vote against the people of this democracy and the rule of law.
June 11th, 2007 at 7:28 pmHey Coffins or TP: ….let’s do the math on these thugs…..which of the 28 coming up for re-election voted “nay”…..can you get that info?
The People really need it to get a movement for their ouster begun immediately. Thanks!
June 11th, 2007 at 7:29 pmRe-Fresh
June 11th, 2007 at 7:29 pmImpeachment will never get past the Senate. We all saw how the votes were counted today. You can bet that if impeachment was placed on the table, the Repubs would march lock-step to protect their lying president and traitor vice-president. Impeachment would go no-where and the media which is owned by Murdoch and by Disney would slant the impeachment in a manner that would protect their god… george w bush.
June 11th, 2007 at 7:30 pmFor openers, these Traitors to the Constitution of this country and the rule of law need to be held accountable and admonished appropriately by NOT being re-elected as a representative of this democracy. Let’s get the names of those 28 if we can and begin to press for their ejection when their term expires.
June 11th, 2007 at 7:30 pmMr. President,
Just what is happening today?
Comment by CompTROLLER V-1 — June 11, 2007 @ 7:17 pm
Biznizz as usual, the messages are all screwy still.
June 11th, 2007 at 7:31 pmREFRESH AGAIN
June 11th, 2007 at 7:33 pmveritas – I saw a website that showed the States that will have Senatorial elections next year. I don’t remember where I saw it but if I come across it again, I will surely post a link.
You bet… these Senators all have targets on their farheads… we need to recruit more “Jim Webbs” for the Senate next year.
June 11th, 2007 at 7:33 pmCoffins: If you get this feeling about impeachment, then what you are saying is that you concur with me that this country is already down the toilet?? I think it is – sadly to admit, but there has been so much damage and destruction to our rule of law and this democracy, that I doubt it can ever recover. This vote today has proven that point quite accurately. If these thugs do not revere the rule of law, then how could they support impeachment of a bigger thug than themselves? It’s a “conspiracy of thugs” if you ask me and the people have been totally and unequivocally screwed.
June 11th, 2007 at 7:33 pmI say let the “targetting” begin. The only way to fight fire is with fire and the Rethugs are great at targeting others. It’s time to either allow them to take this country totally down the toilet or stand up and fight. What will the people choose? Only time will tell…
June 11th, 2007 at 7:34 pmI can’t handle having to type this “Refresh” crap any longer, so I’ll be heading out. Mr. President, I bid you good day.
June 11th, 2007 at 7:36 pmBush strong armed the gang again. Time to take him down legally with impeachment!
June 11th, 2007 at 7:37 pmBiden, Obama, Dodd, Brownback, McCain DID NOT VOTE – imagine that! Someone running for President of this country without the balls to vote to bring law & order back to this country they purportedly want to serve in the highest office?
It’s time to delete all of these gutless sycophants who didn’t have the courage politically to take a stand: Obama, Dodd, & Biden will be OUT as far as Dems are concerned.
Lieberman, McCain are already OUT as serious candidates – they just don’t know it yet.
June 11th, 2007 at 7:38 pmREFRESH FOR THE LAST TIME
June 11th, 2007 at 7:38 pmRepublicans! Up-or-Down Vote, anyone?
No?
My mistake. Up-or-Don Votes went out of fashion, apparently, with the Republican majority.
June 11th, 2007 at 7:40 pm#69 As I’ve been saying here on these threads, ad nauseum, impeach him before he takes this country down to hell with him.
If we’d begun this months ago, we wouldn’t be having this discussion right now.
If Congress had the balls to control the purse strings, this war would be coming to and end…..
I feel like a broken record here – it’s becoming “too late” to take off the gloves….I fear that the match has been won while the weakling Dems were playing “nicey nicey” and being skinned alive.
June 11th, 2007 at 7:40 pmI can’t handle having to type this “Refresh†crap any longer, so I’ll be heading out. Mr. President, I bid you good day.
Comment by CompTROLLER V-1 — June 11, 2007 @ 7:36 pm
Alright CT, take it easy.
June 11th, 2007 at 7:41 pmAnd if I see the likes of Harry Reid droning on in his gutless monotone one more time about how tough the dems are, I think I’ll vomit on the spot! Where is Pelosi hiding these days? Has Team Bush recruited her or just run her out of town….clearly, she’s been in hiding. Maybe it’s the goods they have on her with the warrantless wiretapping?? Tomfoolery….all of it. And the fools are the american people who believe that anyone in Congress actually cares what we think.
June 11th, 2007 at 7:42 pmJake is now “Mike” and is pushing his position that “competence” is too stringent a standard of behavior to be expected of our public officials. We ought to settle for just “not criminal”.
Unfortunately, the Bush administration can’t even meet that standard a lot of the time.
June 11th, 2007 at 7:43 pmGonzo, their hero and chief water boy, for developing and coordinating novel legal theories to violate the “quaint†Geneva Conventions and related federal law, enabling illegal wiretapping, fixing elections, and politicizing the Department of Justice as a political arm of the White House. Next step must be impeachment.
June 11th, 2007 at 7:44 pmBiden, Dodd and Obama seriously damaged themselves today by NOT voting. If they cannot bother to vote, then they should resign from the Senate. Biden and Dodd never even remotely had a chance to become president, but Obama did so his non-vote has blown his chance now.
June 11th, 2007 at 7:52 pmConspiracy theory alert::
I can’t help but wonder… when Cheney was heading up the VP selection committee, whether he was in actuality digging up dirt on his own party’s Congresspeople…
Just a thought.
June 11th, 2007 at 7:54 pmveritas – I don’t feel all is lost. Next year we will have elections again and this is where we can make a change. Let me remind everyone here, we made only a small change last November. We can make a bigger change in 2008. I’ve read that the rural areas in the “red states” are turning blue. This is bad news for the Repubs. All the Repubs have is a bumper sticker campaign and tired, old re-run ideas.
Signed: Alone on the homefront, with the bones of the fallen dead.
June 11th, 2007 at 7:58 pmWhy is this a Democratic failure when its the Republicans who don’t have spines to vote for it?
June 11th, 2007 at 7:58 pmwhen Cheney was heading up the VP selection committee, whether he was in actuality digging up dirt on his own party’s Congresspeople…
No one is exempt from this WH NSA spying… especially Republicans.
June 11th, 2007 at 8:00 pmObama, Biden and Dodd looked weak today. No leadership there.
June 11th, 2007 at 8:01 pmScore one for the “up or down vote” Republics. Funny how their attitude towards the filibuster has changed since they became the minority. Do they have any idea how hypocritical they are?
June 11th, 2007 at 8:02 pmImpeach Gonzalez!
June 11th, 2007 at 8:03 pm“Good job Reid. Another failure for the Dems in the Senate.
Geez. Comment by RUCerious”
No, it is not another failure for the Dems in the Senate. It is another failure of the rule of law in our country brought on by the Bush Crime Family and the Lemming Republics.
Exactly how do you expect the Democrats to be able to win in the Senate when the Senate is pretty much split down the middle? The only way they could “win” would be if some Republics grew some balls and decided it was time to stop being lemmings and time to start representing the people they were elected to represent. I believe something like 68% of the American public thinks Gonzo should go, so these Republics are obviously not representing their constituents in their votes.
June 11th, 2007 at 8:05 pm“Biden, Dodd and Obama seriously damaged themselves today by NOT voting. ”
This was NOT a vote on the actual bill, it was a vote on ending cloture (i.e. stopping the Republic filibuster). I expect that if it was actually a vote on the bill, they would have been there and they would have voted. But, they knew that the Republic Lemmings were not going to allow it to come to a vote (please remember their filibuster threats when the Democrats were a minority) so there wasn’t much of a reason for them to rush back to Washington to vote.
June 11th, 2007 at 8:07 pmLieberman is just like another Republican.
Who would stand up for Gonzo?
I hope now the Dems will run Lieberman out of the party.
June 11th, 2007 at 8:08 pmANYBODY…
…who’d vote Republican…
…after THIS administration…
…should be impaled, beheaded and burned…
…they’re not human anyway…
June 11th, 2007 at 8:10 pmKate > that is no excuse for them not to vote. I can NO longer support Obama for president > he has made him himself look stupid. McCain decided long ago to blow himself to bits, so Obama should not follow his example.
June 11th, 2007 at 8:11 pmComment by Kate Henry #87
Thanks Kate…
…for setting the record straight…
…looks like the Ron Paul wing is out in force…
…or is that “farce”…
…today…
June 11th, 2007 at 8:18 pmI don’t get it, when the Dems were in the minority, they were ‘powerless’ and too scared to do any blocking or filibustering tactics.
Now the Repukes are the minority, and they have all this power to block everything?
GIMME A BREAK, START SHOVING THE MAJORITY DOWN THERE THROATS!!
June 11th, 2007 at 8:19 pmDO SOMETHING YOU WEAK ASS DEMS!!!!!
Obama did not vote…
June 11th, 2007 at 8:32 pmDemocrats are the best!
June 11th, 2007 at 8:33 pmThe Democrats need to use the nuclear option as proposed by Bill Frist.
June 11th, 2007 at 8:39 pmThe number abstaining is the EXACT number needed to obtain cloture. But one is still re-learning to walk and another is a guy who said he’d pardon Libby without question.
June 11th, 2007 at 8:41 pmThere’s no real Democratic majority in the Senate. It’s more like a majority based on how the Independents will caucus. We need to elect more Democrats to replace the 21 Republican Senators that are up for re-election next year.
June 11th, 2007 at 8:44 pmEven if Obama, Dodd Biden and Johnson had voted, it would have fallen short.
Impeachment requires two thirds to convict.
It isn’t going to happen.
I’d love to see the trial, Nancy should find a table and get it going, but the Senate would not convict.
At least we could roll out the list of criminal actions and let the Repugnicants go on record as supporting the criminal cabal.
Whatever, it means that energy needs to focus on the 08 elections, kicking out as many repukes from the house, senate and white house as possible, to start repairing the damage.
Put Bush on notice that any attempt at overt hostilities toward Iran will trigger the impeachment process, and let it go.
As sad as I am about this, I am also somewhat of a realist.
Goddamn them all to the worst hell their imaginations can conjure.
June 11th, 2007 at 8:47 pmMiserable murdering lyingratfu(kbastards.
GOP = Incompetent bastards. This crime family is made up of thugs and followers. They didn’t do shit for the past twelve years and they are not going to allow the Demcratic majority to show them up, in their dumbass minds. What they don’t realize is that 72% of Americans see through their bullshit. The 28%ers look dumber and more corrupt by the day.
June 11th, 2007 at 8:55 pmMany people are angry at Gonzales, but the anger seems to be more politically motivated than motivated by the facts. Is there any law that he has broken?

Ya know, Mike, that’s a good question, and hard to answer, seeing as Gonzo has repeatedly ignored requests from Congress for the communications involved. S/b interewsting to see what happens if he ignores a sub poena.
One could also ask, why did Monica Goodling, and Kyle Sampson for that matter, resign? Did Monica take the 5th and ask for immunity? And why does the WH refuse to let KKKarl testify under oath?
All good questions, and one can only hope we will get good answers to them all as time goes by.
June 11th, 2007 at 9:02 pmpissing in the wind ain’t such a great idea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But, I guess you’ve learned that the hard way.
Comment by Mr. President
So, how many times did you have to make that mistake before learning? 10, 15? What, even more???
June 11th, 2007 at 9:03 pmI like Harry Reid, and I know he’s basically a good man, but in no way does he have the personality to be Speaker. I would like to see what Russ Feingold or Sheldon Whitehouse would do. Harry doesn’t have the temperament to be Speaker. He comes across as frail and meek.
June 11th, 2007 at 9:07 pm“I’m sure Joe Lieberman means well, but I don’t agree.” He says in a voice which is barely above a whisper. That’s just too ingratiating for my tastes. I’d love to see what a more forceful Speaker could do.
Somebody forgot to turn on the troll filter!
June 11th, 2007 at 9:09 pmWe now know which Republican and “Independent” Senators support an Attorney General whose testimony and memory is untrustworthy at best, who supports torture, who supports going around the Geneva Conventions and who supports turning the Department of Justice into the Republican Department of Justice.
I continue to pray that those who know of wrongdoing by the ruling class and those serving in government continue to come forward with testimony and evidence.
June 11th, 2007 at 9:26 pmWow! Obama, Biden and Dodd don’t vote on a cloture vote…
…that wouldn’t have passed had they voted anyway…
…and they’re somehow TRAITORS unworthy of our support…
…F-I-C-K-L-E M-O-U-S-E…
June 11th, 2007 at 9:35 pmNow, we need to ask each Senator who voted “NO” or did not vote WHY. We need to ask this publically and repeatedly until they answer. “Why do you have confidence in Gonzales?” “Why do you feel he should continue as Attorney General?” “Why is his behavior acceptable?” “Is it acceptable to politicize the Department of Justice?” “Was the campaign to target ‘voter fraud’ legitimate given the lack of evidence, or was it voter suppression?” “Is this the sort of justice that Americans deserve?” Make them explain.
June 11th, 2007 at 9:59 pmpost before seeing responses…
…hmmmm…
June 11th, 2007 at 10:10 pmWhy do the American people want to hand their rights away and gloat
June 11th, 2007 at 10:26 pmwhen they do it? GONZO is going to feel vindicated and do whatever he pleases.
He needs to want the plank at Gitmo.
#55 – mike,
You are one ignorant son of a bitch –
Hatch Act!
June 11th, 2007 at 10:41 pmHatch Act!
Hatch Act!
Hatch Act!
And you want that now, before a full investigation? Ok:
Obstruction of Justice, lying to Congress, lying under oath.
Oh, I’m sorry, that’s three, and you only asked for one.
Then there’s the U.S. Constitution, for holding prisoners for years without filing charges…
Whoops, that’s four….sorry, I just can’t keep it to only one law he’s broken, but then you wanted a conviction before an investigation, charges and trial…gee, you’re sounding like DoJ material now….
June 11th, 2007 at 10:54 pmbig papa > the Democrats in DC are playing games too. It does matter to have ALL the Democrats vote together on something for a change. One is in a hospital recovering from brain surgery, so he has an excuse to not vote, but Biden/Dodd/Obama have no such excuse. They have decided to damage themselves over this event.
June 11th, 2007 at 11:02 pmIt seems to me that the Senator in the hospital should be allowed to caste his vote from his bed, but Senate does not allow it. If Biden, Dodd and Obama had voted, then it would have been 56 to 38, and perhaps a couple more Republicans might have jumped ship to bring it near 60 or at that number.
June 11th, 2007 at 11:07 pmI hope too that the Dems run Lieberman out of their party as well. For the record, I am not “Mike.”
June 11th, 2007 at 11:44 pmI don’t think any votes should be allowed off of the Senate floor.
June 11th, 2007 at 11:46 pmObama, Dodd and Biden are the Democrats who missed the vote, but Americans need to be looking at Republicans, too, who continue to rubberstamp everything that Bush wants. For example, the Republicans running for the Presidency, who have to get some Democratic voters to vote for them if they expect to win. Two of those Republican candidates, Brownback and McCain, skipped the vote. It’s one thing to not believe in the theory of evolution, but I’d like to see Brownback justify his support of Gonzales as a campaign issue.
And so much for McCain’s “loving the troops.” When McCain had the opportunity to hold Gonzales, one of the main architects of Bush’s torture policy (and anti-Geneva Conventions policy), McCain skipped the vote.
And Alaska’s Ted Stevens, who got steamrolled in the U.S. attorney scandal (and had every reason to vote yea, both personally and professionally) couldn’t bring himself to vote nay, but checked in with “present.”
Of course Pete Domenici voted nay, but wouldn’t you think that with Democrats controlling the Senate, proceedings against Domenici would have begun on ethics violations for his role in the U.S. attorney scandal?
After letting this matter pend for weeks, I would have thought that Harry Reid would have counted noses before he brought it up for the Senate to deal with this week. This is just more Democratic incompetence, and I sure hope Democratic constituents are taking notice and getting active in their neighborhoods and states, and working to replace these politicians with better, smarter, lefter Democrats.
June 12th, 2007 at 1:53 amAlberto Gonzales’ fate is for Bush, and ONLY Bush, to decide!

June 12th, 2007 at 2:18 amMaeven > Democrats keep moving to the right with the Republicans. Big corporations who fund the parties are fascistic, so they are pulling the Democrats away from their base. This is why Dems in DC keep caving toward the Bush Regime. If they represented the people, then they would notice that 70% are against Bush and the Iraq fiasco war.
June 12th, 2007 at 2:21 amHarry Reid is NOT the enemy. He is truly working very hard and a caring Congressman. Further, he is “SHOWING†the criminal acts of GONEzales by this vote. Additionally, remember that Reid doesn’t control those Criminal Republicans. By the Republicans NOT joining the Dems on this vote it speaks very loudly. They the Republican Killers prefer “criminal behavior†for THEIR party. These current Republicans have no ethics, no morals, no honor, and no credibility at ALL. Nada. Henceforth, they “shall†be taken to the woodshed in 2008.
For many military families this just MOVTIVATES us more to hunt, corner Republican “prey†and to work hard at “sending them home in 2008â€. Each one here needs to realize that there is no reason to BASH Leader Reid, as he is working hard for the Middle Class people.
My personal feast will be 2 certain Republican individuals to feast on. I already have the leg of one, and the arm of another.
Even though our family is NOT in Reid’s state, we have had past requests honored and he does listen. There are many things that go on behind the curtain that have been accomplished to assist military families.
Our efforts need to be placed in the REMOVAL of all criminal Republican MURDERERS (in my eyes they are, for killing our troops) whether it be in the House or the Senate. If you live in a state (or near a neighboring state) with a RED one, start now in organizing efforts to “send him/her home in 2008â€!!!!! I know of one group ( 15 LIONS) that are having a Prey Strategy gathering this weekend.
GOAL: More “blue chairs at the 2008 dinner table !!! (Blue is the best quality middle class chair)
The Cat, the LION
Inductive ~ Deductive LOGIC
One final thought, Republican prey is so tasty, including Lieberman!!Liebermans functioning ability in his state is slipping w/time.
Obama, Dodd and Biden should have SHOWN UP FOR WORK, sorry no excuses, including the dog ate my schedule!!
