WE are the major polluters. Each one of us pulls more and more power every day, with every tivo, blackberry, portable dvd player, ipod, iphone, icar, ihouse, ibrain, that we buy. If you want electric cars, that will use exponentially more electricity. Running and maintaining power plants is really expensive. If they build brand new power plants, no doubt those plants would be cheaper to run, and more clean. But power plants are about the most expensive thing in the world to build, and they don't have that kinda money. Do you want to pay for the new plants? I'm sure they'd like some help. Write your representatives and let them know you're interesting in donating $5 of your tax return to building new electricity infrastructure. Tell them that should be a checkbox option on next year's tax forms. We use the power. We need to pay for it.
