FEINGOLD/REID FAILED!! Senator Webb, for one, wanted to amend it. REVISE THE DAMN THING – if you are serious about PASSING legislation, not continuing this CHARADE. [Feingold: WHY are you enabling this? Stop being a "nice guy" - CONFRONT your "colleagues" already.]

GET CARL LEVIN OUT OF THE IRAQ BILL PROCESS!! He’s doing AIPAC’s bidding and making a MOCKERY of the Senate. It’s his wholesale capitulation bill that Iraq is reaping the whirlwind from right now. [And which Americans are the ones behind tonight's mosque bombing, I wonder, in an effort to divert the attention of the resistance from their oppressors, and away from the Iraqi Parliament which is preparing to teach our Congress a lesson in obeying the will of the people.]

SUBMIT ONE BILL AS A UNIFIED CAUCUS, or the Democratic Party can take a long walk off a short pier. This either/or bill BULLSH*T for the benefit of poor conned Americans IS DESPICABLE, Harry Reid. We are occupying a foreign country AGAINST THEIR WILL and against INTERNATIONAL LAW. You f’in HYPOCRITES, you moral poseurs, you complicit b*stards in American Empire; willfully violating every principle of humanity, of Nuremburg and of hope for the country our Founders envisioned for us (nevermind for Iraq). [Does $20 TRILLION dollars of IRAQI oil ring any bells for you??]

As stated above: CONGRESS HAS THE SOLE, EXCLUSIVE POWER TO END THIS WAR BY MAJORITY VOTE, WITHOUT AGREEMENT OR VETO FROM THE PRESIDENT. It’s the CONSTITUTION: Remember that? Article I, Section 8, Clause 11: The power to declare and END war, with a simple majority vote in Congress removes authority from the President (the CinC) to use our Armed Forces except in cases of attack or invasion (guess what: that’s how we went into World War II – no presidential signature attached). Talk to Governor Richardson: his campaign understands this [it's not about the useless 1973 War Powers Resolution or the 2002 AUMF legislation - this is about the POWER OF CONGRESS as our Founders DESIGNED it, not capitulation to the Executive, as our Congress has corrupted it]. If Harry Reid gave a damn, he could get that declaration to cease hostilities at a date certain onto the Senate floor for a vote [budget reconciliation bill which can't be filibustered, etc.], pass it, and return sanity and the Constitution to America.

Instead, Harry Reid is busy ordering DEMOCRATS in the Senate to include Republican crap in the Energy Bill before he’ll bring it to the floor, and PLEADING with President Bush to revive the Immigration Bill SO REID CAN BRING THAT BACK BEFORE bringing up the DEFENSE authorization bill (priorities you know).

It’s even easier to OBEY and DEFEND the Constitution than it is to violate it: JUST DO IT.

Senator Reid has a ONE vote majority. If you will observe the vote on Gonzales, we have about 54-56 votes in the Senate — NOT enough to override a veto, and not enough to declare cloture.

The defense bill is a standard appropriation with far greater leeway democratically. The 109th didn’t even finish (or attempt) its standard appropriations (too busy mopping up the bloody cash) — so it’s a much more negotiated political context. The minority cannot simply pull a fillibuster on these large bills.

• On the second front, the INDICTMENT front, the Senate and House have just about completed investigations that have revealed indictable acts of major officlals. We may be able to restore justice to the Justice Department, and the effect of that accomplishment would be DEVASTATING for Bushco, and another huge boon to the American people from the Democratic part of the Democratic party (to quote Dean).

ALL gov’ts have to negotiate with monied power and with military factions, and certainly this one does, to the point of nearly losing its democracy in a series of conspiracies (including massive vote fraud).

To pretend it’s possible to simply wave the magic wand and eliminate the opposition is a special psychosis of the Left. You just wave the Constitution in the air, and the powers fall silent. Banks say to themselves, Yeah, we shouldn’t repossess houses and cars — that hurts people. We should stop! And all this just because leftists are pure, and parchment barriers are Nine-eleven proof, so Let’s Attack the Democrats, for not knowing that.

And all the time, leftists are doing the work of Karl Rove, helping his Rapepublicans continue to delude people with Nader’s Lie (that both parties are the same). The two wings wash each other.
