“The head of a federal investigative agency has recommended President Bush fire General Services Administration chief Lurita Doan for encouraging top agency officials at a staff meeting in January to find ways to help Republican candidates in the 2008 election,” CongressDaily reports (sub req’d):

In a sternly written letter dated last Friday and obtained by CongressDaily, Special Counsel Scott Bloch advised the president that Doan should “be disciplined to the fullest extent for her serious violation of the Hatch Act.”
Under administrative statute, the “fullest extent” for a political appointee such as Doan is termination.
“Despite engaging in the most pernicious of political activity prohibited by the Hatch Act, Administrator Doan has shown no remorse and lacks an appreciation for the seriousness of her violation,” Bloch wrote Bush, referring to the law barring executive branch employees from engaging in partisan political activity.
Because Doan is a political appointee and serves at the pleasure of the president, it is up to Bush to decide how to respond to Bloch’s recommendation, including ignoring it altogether. Bloch’s letter did not include a request for additional information or a formal response. The White House did not respond to calls for comment at presstime.
Which medal do you think she'll get?
June 12th, 2007 at 12:22 amAnother "suggestion" to Boy King? Oh, he's SURE to take that seriously!
Doan was doing Rove's, er, God's work. Don't hold your breath.
PEACE
June 12th, 2007 at 12:25 amGeneral Services Administration chief Lurita Doan have little to fear of being fired. Why? As long she keep bring cookies to President Bush, the fix is in.
June 12th, 2007 at 12:31 am"Disciplined to the fullest extent" under the Hatch Act is withholding her salary -- big whoop.
June 12th, 2007 at 12:31 amUh- huh. Lets' see what the deciderer does, this time.
June 12th, 2007 at 12:33 amThis has probably shaken Bush to the core. Deep down he knows that if he doesn't act, they may... send another letter.
June 12th, 2007 at 12:34 amThey musta gotten her fingerprints after all.
June 12th, 2007 at 12:38 amShe serves to pleasure the President.
There is a basic problem here, don't send Bush letters, he can't read.
Talk about the poster child for No Child Left Behind.... They hid that poor throwback in the weeds and tried to leave him behind but Jeb smuggled him in.
June 12th, 2007 at 12:39 amGood luck with that, because Bush refuses to fire incompetent jerks like Lurita Doan and Alberto Gonzales.
June 12th, 2007 at 12:42 amI am sure that Fouad Ajami will consider her another "soldier" in Bush's army of brainwashed nitwits.

It's hard to choose because America would be much better off without all three.

June 12th, 2007 at 1:35 amIf Special Counsel Scott Bloch really meant business, he would have added that Doan should be fired to "protect the kids".
June 12th, 2007 at 1:35 amI believe Doan's appointment had to be confirmed by the Senate, which means she could be IMPEACHED whether or not her service pleases the President.
But, then, Impeachment is off the table, right Speaker Pelosi? So, Political Appointees can commit all sorts of crimes, but they get to continue to serve at the pleasure of the President, because Congress isn't going to do a damn thing, no matter what the crime.
June 12th, 2007 at 2:00 amFaire > since the Congress refuses to impeach Gonzales, a bigger fish, then why would they bother with a small fry like Doan?

June 12th, 2007 at 2:21 amBush should keep the crime team together and if only one is fired the plan can go bad. Now Gonzales has made lying under oath legal and being the dumbest Lawyer while holding the top job. I can hear the world leaders laughing at how the American people have an Attorney General who is dumb and a liar while firing educated honest lawyers. Monica did a great job at hiring only loyal Bush employees and making sure the Judges follow the Bush criminal policy. Yes it was a good plan to make the US totally controlled by Republicans and making sure others don't have jobs and making sure minorities can't vote. The Republicans and GOP used God's name to lie their way in office while doing Satan's work. Now the Republicans are looking for a Law/Order actor to get back the White House to continue the criminal wave.

June 12th, 2007 at 5:10 am# 22 - Comment by Jay Randal — June 12, 2007 @ 2:13 am
Faire > since the Congress refuses to impeach Gonzales, a bigger fish, then why would they bother with a small fry like Doan?
Jay Randal: I usually agree with you, but on this one, I gotta disagree.
The budget of GSA is HUGE! The total of money available to steal is MUCH greater than the DOJ. They handle all Federal Property, and do all the building and car maintenance contracts. This lady can hand off contracts worth billions to any NeoCon crook she wants to.
Jake-Off, the troll, is WRONG, as usual. The punishment for what Doan has done is clearly firing (not "withholding her salary"). Civil Service Regulations under the Hatch Act provide for firing in Doan's case. If the current corrupt, criminal president won't do it, Congress NEEDS to. If the NeoCons won't go along, as most of them didn't with Gonzo) the Dems can point to this as continued NeoCon support for Abamoff-type corruption.
I do have to agree with you on one point, depending on the Democrats to support impeachment in the House, with the Blue Dogs holding 86 votes, including the Majority Leader and the Chair of DCCC, is IFFY at best! Yeesh!
June 12th, 2007 at 5:27 amOne comment off topic - Doesn't Doan look like one of those vacuous women on "Housewives of Orange County" on BRAVO? {:-)
June 12th, 2007 at 5:31 am#4. Regarding the penalty, there is a bit more than merely "withholding her salary"
The Hatch Act restricts the political activity of executive branch employees of the federal government, District of Columbia government and some state and local employees who work in connection with federally funded programs. In 1993, Congress passed legislation that significantly amended the Hatch Act as it applies to federal and D.C. employees (5 U.S.C. §§ 7321-7326). (These amendments did not change the provisions that apply to state and local employees. 5 U.S.C. §§ 1501- 1508.) Under the amendments most federal and D.C. employees are now permitted to take an active part in political management and political campaigns. A small group of federal employees are subject to greater restrictions and continue to be prohibited from engaging in partisan political management and partisan political campaigns.
Penalties for Violating the Hatch Act
An employee who violates the Hatch Act shall be removed from their position, and funds appropriated for the position from which removed thereafter may not be used to pay the employee or individual. However, if the Merit Systems Protection Board finds by unanimous vote that the violation does not warrant removal, a penalty of not less than 30 days' suspension without pay shall be imposed by direction of the Board
Being fired is a tad more than "withholding her salary"

June 12th, 2007 at 6:52 amIn just six years, the Republicans have made America the laughingstock of the world. That's quite an historical accomplishment.
June 12th, 2007 at 7:11 amPlease don't get rid of her before her appearance in front of Waxman tomorrow. We could use some comic relief.
June 12th, 2007 at 7:32 am"for encouraging top agency officials at a staff meeting in January to find ways to help Republican candidates in the 2008 election,†CongressDaily reports (sub req’d):"
June 12th, 2007 at 8:07 amUm, I thought Karl Rove did that? She just let the cat out of the bag.
They'll get rid of her, but not for breaking the law.
Posters haven't we already passed the point where we realize that the entire government is blowing smoke up our as$es? Honestly, when do the large scale "Replace The Government Marches" start? When does the civil war start?
June 12th, 2007 at 8:13 am#36, I agree with you. I am surprised that organizations such as MoveOn.org and WorldCantWait are not calling for demonstrations and marches every month of the year. We should learn from other nations whose population takes to the streets to voice their outrage.
June 12th, 2007 at 8:34 amFiring? How is it that these criminals can resign or be fired and with the exception of Scooter all avoid prison sentences? We had that Griffin guy who has been accused of voter caging, he steps down to join Thompson's debacle, and nothing further happens. Same with the other criminals in the Justice Department who obstructed justice with these attorney firings. This has got to stop: we want prosecutions and sentences to dissuade those that follow from engaging in similar criminal practices.
June 12th, 2007 at 8:35 am#37 I agree with you wholeheartedly in that the people now need to do something to express their outrage against this tyranny and abuse of power within our government.
However, knowing the level of apathy brought on by the Patriot Act's enablement of this abuse of power, the people feel intimidated from expressing their points of view and really have little avenue for personal expression.
I've been doing a fair amount of research into the Hatch Act (a joke!) etc. regarding the state of our unfair voting system and, to date, little to nothing is being done to ensure the safety and validity of our votes in 08. Sure, the Hatch Act is designed to merely assuage those concerned citizens as well as to provide the "appearance" that a paper trail will actuall mean something. IT DOES NOT. Go to http://www.bradblog.com and see for yourself. All any paper trail does is agree with the corrupted software totals; that's all. Unless each voter checks to see that the votes they registered are the actual ones listed on the "paper trail", it is meaningless. So - why vote? Some may claim that it is our "civic duty" to vote and I say to those idealists: how can it be one's civic duty to have your vote disenfranchised and corrupted? Is it then one's civic duty to be duped and made a fool of? I think not.
When Cindy Sheehan threw in the sponge on this democratic Congress a few weeks ago, I failed to comprehend why someone so devoted to such a worthwhile cause would reach such a turning point. I now am beginning to see precisely why Cindy made that choice. Her words were something to the effect: "If they won't help themselves, then there's nothing I can further do". How true those words have become following the "vote to vote on the No Confidence Vote" yesterday!
Likewise, I have reached that precise point following thise disastrous vote to support the disintegration of law & order in this country. This country is descending into pure anarchy and will continue as long as Team Bush has their way.
However, what was stunning apparent to me when I checked the votes yesterday is this: Biden, Dodd & Obama failed to show up and make the effort to vote yesterday! Imagine that! Someone who believes themselves to be worthy of the presidency doesn't even make the effort to vote when their job mandates that they be present and vote? What message does that send?
Obviously, Dodd and Biden don't have a chance in hell of garnering the nomination but Barak Obama is perhaps the most stunning revelation of all. Obama showed his weakness yesterday - his vulnerability - his lack of finesse, decorum, and authenticity. By not voting, Obama lost the respect and the confidence of the american people. I've recognized his obvious shortcomings in not being experienced enough for the job; however, I awarded him points for his seeming level of ardor, altruism, and representation of the common man. Yesterday, Obama moved himself into the elitist "care less" category by not voting symbolically to at least show the people that he cares about our system of justice in this country. For me, Obama's actions yesterday eliminated him from the running in 08. In retrospect, we find that each candidate who lost the nomination had their "yeeeehaw moment" and yesterday will be Obama's ""yeehaw" and swan song.
As for me, I've lost total faith in this government. I've finally recognized that this current Congress is another "do-nothing Congress" without the courage to follow through with their promise to the people - who are as complicit and "in the pocket" of corporate america as the last one - who are liars, crooks, cronnies, and sycophants - who are absolutely nothing different or special in any way and who are losing the faith of the american people with each passing day.
My faith in this group of capricious, corporate-owned sycophants has come to and end. Like Cindy Sheehan, I now realize that, at least for me, it's a simple waste of time and energy - not to mention misplaced faith in a misguided group of thugs I thought were working in our behalf.
As Cindy Sheehan said: "you can't help someone who won't help themselves". As I see it, it's "over" for the Democrats as well as the Rethugs - and they will tank this country totally now.
June 12th, 2007 at 8:52 amBy virtue of the American justice system, prosecutions take a long time.
I commend the ongoing investigations, Patrick Fitzgerald for example, for the care with which they prepare their cases.
Ponderousness is exasperating, but not nearly so dismaying than a case thrown out on a technicality.
The sheer volume and pervasiveness of the corruption the current administration has created will bog down Congress and the Justice Department for many years to come.
"The wheels of the gods grind slow,
June 12th, 2007 at 8:54 amyet exceedingly fine...."
"Biden, Dodd & Obama failed to show up and make the effort to vote yesterday!"
(comment by veritas)
Exactly! What the heck was that all about?
June 12th, 2007 at 8:58 amBecause they are presidential candidates, they avoid controversy?
Obama went down in flames yesterday, in my estimation.
I would like to see Doan, and all corrupt government officials, do some time in the general population of a real prison.
June 12th, 2007 at 8:59 amheyzeus - Obama certainly DID go down in flames yesterday! His bid for the presidency is OVER now. Just like Dean's "heehaw" moment, this will be Barak's. What he did yesterday showed his true colors so nothing he says now will mean a thing. Thank god he showed himself now before he pulled the wool over everyone's eyes and became a real contender though. If Hillary could be there to vote (and she would not be my choice either), then they all should have had their asses there to vote, too.
This was one very serious faux pas and will tank Obama's campaign like the titanic.
June 12th, 2007 at 9:01 am#40 I fail to comprehend why Congress doesn't realize that they have enough "high crimes & misdemeanors" to bring about impeachment proceedings which would then at least ensure that more damage will not be done to this democracy - while still engaging in years of investigations. I guess these new Dems just don't have the guts to do it. Besides, we now know the Republicans who will be voted out of office because of yesterday's vote (28 of them) and until these criminals are gone, it would be a moot point. This country is screwed! We can thank every hacker who rigged both elections for that!
June 12th, 2007 at 9:04 amThis will also tank some more irrelevant campaigns such as: Biden's, Dodd's, Lieberman's and McCain's. Of course, Lieberman's won't get off the ground and McInsane's is already cooked.
June 12th, 2007 at 9:05 amAt this point in time, news programs are off limits in my home and I've decided to take a vacation from investigating things on my own. Like Cindy Sheehan, I'm also throwing in the towel. If the majority of americans don't give a damn about their future or the future of this country, there's little hope for any resurrection of what once made this country great. As well, the daily parsing out of what's become a study in "insanity" (what's going on in government these days) would be tantamount to self-destruction because there isn't one thing anyone can do to correct the course of this sinking country. It's turning to $hit while we type. I've finally witnessed what I feel to be "our last hurrah" in the vote yesterday and now concur with Sheehan - it's "all over but the crying".
June 12th, 2007 at 9:09 amRE: #44
June 12th, 2007 at 9:09 amyeah, I'm just trying to maintain some shred of hope......:)
Heyzeus: Hope is a good thing; however, once it's gone for an individual (and each individual has their own nadir), then it's over.
I feel (and fear) that yesterday's vote has provided great insight for all of us into just how corrupt our government is.....how complicit the level is within our Congress.....and which candidates don't even care enough to come in for the vote. Pretty telling stuff, yesterday was.
Keep up the hope if you still have some. As for me, all hope disintegrated with yesterday's vote to uphold the level of corruption and lawlessness in this country. Perhaps it's time to listen to the NRA because we will soon experience true anarchy and it will be every man for himself.
June 12th, 2007 at 9:13 amFire her, like hell. She should not be fired, she should be prosecuted. If Congress allows the members of the Bush Crime family to get away with their crimes with no punishment other than losing their jobs, then we might as well just pack it in. There are consequences for what you do folks, and the Bushies are NOT an exception to this rule.
June 12th, 2007 at 9:13 amHeyzeus: We aren't the only ones stunned that Obama failed to show for the vote yesterday. Go to "talking points memo" and see what Josh Marshall has to say.
Obama's bid for the presidency if over! Biden, Dodd, McCain, Brownback, and Lieberman's individual campaigns were tanked long ago.....and the last nail has been placed in their respective coffins now.
But Obama! Wow! What a shockeroo and eye opener yesterday was? Here is is - probably in New Hampshire campaigning - trying to "con" the people there into believing in him when his choice to do this as opposed to, at least symbolically, show the american people that he is behind the restoration of law & order in this country........I am still totally stunned by this choice of his.
June 12th, 2007 at 9:27 amMaybe the pressure was getting to Obama and he was concerned about his health and life?? Perhaps he made this choice knowing full well that it would tank his chances of becoming the candidate? One can only guess why one so seemingly dedicated to the people would choose so flagrantly to thumb his nose in the people's faces by a "no show"????
June 12th, 2007 at 9:28 amAs for Laurita Doan, the subject of this thread, she won't get anything - after all, yesterday we voted to support anarchy in this country and the continuation of serious cronyism.
June 12th, 2007 at 9:29 amI'll call for her to stay on, if she brings cookies.
June 12th, 2007 at 9:43 amI doubt she is going to be fired. The president is even a bigger scam artist. Welcome to the world of GOP.
June 12th, 2007 at 10:01 amIt's a really sad thing if the only punishment for violating the Hatch Act is a stern letter to the President "recommending" that she be terminated.
I mean, come on, penalties have to be stiffer for these corrupt politicians, and I mean ALL politicians, not just republicans or democrats.
No more of this "Oh, it's politics, I'll just resign and get paid $10k/hr on the lecturing circuit" crap for ruining America. Put them in jail, take all the possesions and make them do years and years of community service @minimum wage.
June 12th, 2007 at 10:04 amVeritas.........
June 12th, 2007 at 10:06 amIf Obama is going down the path of McCain, and putting his campaign ahead of his present job, then he has lost any and all support I may have been able to lend.
John Edwards had the integrity to relinquish his position in the Senate to run.
I'm not saying that a candidate should resign to run for another office, only that the candidate should campaign by example, and not by shirking his duties.
Put them in jail, take all the possesions and make them do years and years of community service @minimum wage.

June 12th, 2007 at 10:33 amInteresting thread...
June 12th, 2007 at 10:49 amI'm amazed @ how quickly the conversation's focus turns to Obama.
We all know Lurita Doan should be fired for her transgressions (& may not be). Usually on crucial votes staffers keep Senators informed & if their vote would be needed to pass key legislation they would know that in advance. Seeing as how yesterdays vote was purely symbolic & NO REPERCUSSIONS WOULD COME FROM PASSING THIS WORTHLESS VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE it was a sham. More politics as usual in order to give the appearance that Congress is actually doing something. They were going for headlines People. That's it headlines... Should Gonzales be fired??? Yes. If he were do you think we'd get any better for a replacement??? No. Our system has become a sham, being gamed for profit. Obama didn't vote because it WAS'NT IMPORTANT. Impeachment is in order but this do nothing Congress doesn't have the balls to impeach a fruit fly. It truly is time to put partisan politics aside & pay attention to individuals that seem to want to make a difference & focus on puttuing them in a position to do so.
Democrap, Repooplican, or independant. Peace.

An inspired rage above, which I saved! I am shocked that Obama and McCain didn't vote on the AG matter, and thought about calling their offices, but then thought "what for?" What do you think people should do to show displeasure at their utter abdication of their oversight responsibilities?
What do you think of Bloch being allowed to be the one to mete out punishment for another of Bush's croneys? I have to get back up to speed on what obfuscating role he is playing in any investigation of Rove in the USA matter, but I really think this slap on Doan's wrist is a preview of what we are going to see happen to Rove.

June 12th, 2007 at 11:06 amI posted a piece, I wrote to Congress last night on Obama, on the ThinkFast thread above > post 48. Obama has very seriously damaged his chance to be elected president now. His advisors have harmed him.
June 12th, 2007 at 11:22 amI posted this:
Posters haven’t we already passed the point where we realize that the entire government is blowing smoke up our as$es? Honestly, when do the large scale “Replace The Government Marches†start? When does the civil war start?
So the posts sort of prove that this TP experiment is not helping the public to achieve critical mass and make the necessary changes by owning our government again. We, by cashing the Dictator's checks have been cast into denial. I suppose that the marches, protests, riots, sit-ins and concerts will be skipped leaving the only solution of civil war?
I wish someone would tell me the date time and place of the "Big Marches" and the "Giant Protests" then I have to wonder if I'm going to be the only one there.
Guys & Gals we know that the Democrats only have a slight majority and votes need to have 2/3rd's so the 110th Congress is as useless as the 109th Congress. The Democrats want the same war as the Republicans. Just being anti-war may be illegal so if that is the case we are well past talking about this. Frankly, TP and many of the other blogs are simply gossip sites.
The Government knows that this is the case and lets things go so that they can create a list of our IPs and affix labels like "adjutant" or "terrorist" or "anarchist" or "subversive" or well you get the picture. They have machines read this for keywords and then flag the users of those words. These flagged users are scored like on your TRW report for threat assessment.
Blogs happen to be a great tool for the Dictator but the one thing he can't hide would be millions of citizens marching on DC demanding change and making change. After all according to the CNN poll 88% of Americans want the Dictator IMPEACHED! The numerical superiority is property of the poor, disenfranchised, indebted, honest citizens.
This needs to be said that this is not racial like those that would divide us would insist. This is not sexual like those that divide us would insist. This is not religious like those that would divide us would insist. What this is IS class warfare! Congress is made of a group of creatures called "LAWYERS" and they are creating a dome of laws that protect only themselves and the firms they would represent if not in office!
They create division by appearing to be in deep conflict but time and again they work to betray our time, trust, honor and intelligence. They are above us and bully us and force us to comply with countless laws that contradict our civil liberties.
Why is it that NRA people defend the Constitution but seemingly average people are deceived into believing that there needs to be more and more gun control? Consider the possibility that the Government fears an armed population so conspires to create a nation of disarmed sheepole and convinces you that it is for your own good.
Why would Congress vote on a Bill that's content was unknown to them (Patriot Act)? Why would Democratic candidates for President be promoting a global carbon tax when doing so is UN-Constitutional? Why do various groups want you to be the barrier of guilt in the scandalous Global Warming crisis?
Don't believe any of it! Not a word should you believe since they are reaching into your pockets with laws designed to protect the Law Giver class and those who have charged them in their mission to divide all of us "Useless Eater" types.
We see it happening and at worst by replacing the entire government from our own ranks people that have not otherwise run for any office can't possibly get us in more trouble than we are already! We don’t need any quotes at this point except, “Give me liberty, or give me death!†We already know that, "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." So when does the “refreshing†start?
When does the first of many general strikes start? What date do we all go to work but stand outside and strike? When will we picket employers who employee illegal aliens? When will we realize that the best way to end our nightmare is to give all of those “Corporate Lawyers†gone “Lawmaker†a boot out of our buildings? The majority of us here agree, (in my unscientific understanding) that the entire US Government can and should be “house cleaned†since the majority of it is corrupt and tyrannical! The few that are righteous would understand that the needs of the nation outweigh their political careers!

This is not over...how can we pressure the Senators who supported torturing, Constitution-shredding, manipulative, DOJ-eviscerating AG Gonzales? This vote should provide the seeds of a continuing strategery to restore the rule of law.

June 12th, 2007 at 11:51 amre: Obama & Gonzo vote
Obama's non-vote is a little disconcerting. If he explained it by being too busy authoring impeachment papers for Gonzo, I'd understand ~ a choice of the correct method vs. the desire to voice opposition.
But without either a voice or an action expressed on the issue which the public is asking to have addressed, he risks being classed as a man of inaction (and we already have plenty of those).
An explanation should be forthcoming, because the question is there. And a successful explanation would be grounded in a principle that was more important than expressing toothless discontent on a single issue. When the explanation comes, be it credible, it will provide Obama with one more credential that others have been unwilling to offer us so far: Being able to tell his supporters "no" for reasons that we can respect.
So, we wait for an answer to the silence. The longer we wait, the longer he puts off that respect, and the less his words will resonate in the interim. He reverts to the status of a normal challenger, in the pack with Hillary and Edwards.
Senator? Yes. Orator? Yes. President? Prove it. What is it that you see - and saw during that vote - that we should respect?

We all know that to be true kasinca! The point is what should and can we do? We are all angry but we must keep our heads clear to determine a course of action. If I was an organizer I would call for massive general strikes to get the ball rolling. We need to follow the Constitutional guides supplied by the likes of George Washington. It is true that history repeats itself and since that is the case there can be a “New American Revolution†that would destroy the tyranny currently griping our once esteemed nation.
The Dictator’s alcohol use is not in question here. He is over 21 and it is legal for him to drink if he wants. There is nothing to stop neither him nor you from drinking! The point is that 88% of Americans want him IMPEACHED! Honestly, We the People don’t even need a reason! The majority of Americans want him removed and so long as it is a majority they don’t need to justify their desire for a change!

The “Ruling Class†has you second guessing your own gut. It is said that the biggest trick of the devil was to convince everyone that he never existed. I can say that our government has if anything become “demonic†or “devil like.†We citizens are no longer the government, heck we are not even part of it! We have been reduced to nothing more than empty words and foolish complaints on an internet that they could simply turn off!
Al Gore would have us believe that he discovered global warming and invented the internet and he and his lovely Tipper gave us a record rating system so that we could be under greater control! Everything is so out of sorts that we can barely wipe our rear areas without wondering if we are doing something wrong. Our whole nation has decided to live in a perpetual state of paranoia like 300,000,000 coke junkies.
June 12th, 2007 at 12:32 pmFunny how EASY it is to get a special counsel to recommend firing...
...a little GSA sycophant like Lurita Doan...
...but the Department of Justice...
...has an even bigger political IDIOT running IT...
...and we can't get a no-confidence vote...
...DUHmerikkka deserves whatever it gets...
...for allowing these TRAITORS to ruin our government...

...an exercise in futility...
June 12th, 2007 at 2:24 pmOK...so, former Bush protector lacky OSC Director Bloch has written chaper 1 of the "Bush Administration Senior Officials' Hatch Act Violations." Noting, as reported in "The Washington Post," and elsewhere: The [Jan. 26, 2006 GSA] meeting, a "brown bag" luncheon, featured a presentation by J. Scott Jennings, deputy director of political affairs in Karl Rove's office at the White House.
Jennings gave a PowerPoint presentation of polling data about the 2006 midterm elections. In a slide called "2008 House Targets: Top 20," the presentation named 20 Democrats on whom Republicans intended to focus in 2008. Another slide, called "2008 House GOP Defense," listed GOP candidates to be protected. o-o-o
The GSA meeting was but one of SEVERAL conducted in various departments and agencies. How about bringing action against J. Scott Jennings, and those who hosted the other meetings/briefings?
Otherwise, agree with all previous comments regarding those who voted "present" or who otherwise did not vote on the Gonzales "no confidence" resolution, which included Joe Biden (a surprise to me). Such is the way of cowards, and by such cowardice, are complicit in the face of the continuing nefarious malfeasance, and evil, of the Bush administration, and forfeit any decent claim to the title "leader."
June 12th, 2007 at 5:29 pmI hope Lurita Doan stays on and maybe these political witch hunts on both sides can end. There are so many truly important matters going begging while the NEW Democratic majority wastes the same time the OLD Republican majority did on political trifles like this. All of you should grow up and take a look at an adult agenda for a change. If ever there were a need for a third party, it's now. Hopefully, most of the people on this blog would not be among its ranks.
June 13th, 2007 at 10:16 pmIt was fun watching Doan run circles around the bumbling Democrats with her intelligence and wit. Now that's hot!
June 13th, 2007 at 10:26 pmThat's for sure. They couldn't put together an intelligent statement or question if their lives depended on it. She shut them down and had them hemming and hawing like a pack of third-graders. Any neutral party watching this charade would have scored it Lurita 20, Dems ZERO! You really have to wonder who is running that party, because the inmates have taken over the asylum! The 2008 election should be very interesting, since the more you hear from these idiots, the more you want to vote for adult supervision instead.
June 13th, 2007 at 10:34 pmhow do you spell P-R-O-M-O-T-I-O-N?
