In 1994 I travelled overseas and came back through Customs at the pre-Ted Stevens Airport (his first wife died there in a plane crash, I think it should be named for her). Anyway, through a series of strange incidents, I wrote my one and only letter to my then Senator Stevens, questioning the actions of the customs agents and asking for clarification of why custom agents regularly strip searched female Asians, but didnt question male Asians. He wrote me back the nastiest letter (which since 911 I could kick myself for throwing away), saying I had alot of nerve to question the intergrity of the US Customs Service and that America had the finest security system in the world in screening out the bad guys entering America.
