Third consecutive day of bridge attacks in Iraq.

Today, insurgents bombed “a bridge over a tributary to the Tigris River on Monday, cutting off the most popular route from the northeastern part of Diyala province to Baghdad.” It was the third straight day of attacks on bridges in Iraq, and the seventh such attack in the past two months.

Looks like a strategy. Maybe they can trap US troops.

But Bill O’Reilly says it doesn’t mean anything and we should ignore it.

    Yeah, right.

  2. Tom3 says:

Loserman says we are making progress in Iraq.

Meanwhile, in actual Iraq, we can’t even protect the bridges.

This is an occupation we cannot “win”. Hell, the Repukes cannot even tell us what “win” means, so it is impossible to do so.

  3. RUCerious says:

    Anybody else see a pattern?
How many more tens of thousands of troops will be needed to secure bridges, overpasses, and other critical infrastructure elements?
More than we’ve got is the correct answer.
    Heckuva job chympie!

    Freedom is on the march!!!

I ask supporters of Bush that all the time. “What would suffice as winning in Iraq?”

“Freedom, no more terrorists” and “it’s the right thing to do” are the top answers but no detail. Bush followers love to be led.

This conflict has evolved into something so much darker than the original intentions.

  6. Spudge_Boy says:

Looks like those “stupid” “terrorists” have devised a new strategy. I guess the use of sh!t bombs was getting boring.

Yes, you have read that correctly. These are the things that aren’t getting reported. Our troops are getting hit with sh!t bombs. The terrorists (and these would be the real terorrists, not the insurgent “terrorists) are filling 5 gallon bucks full of sh!t and setting said bucket on their IEDs. That way the soldiers (who shouldn’t be in Iraq) are getting serious injuries with FECES in them, so they are getting massive infections on top of losing limbs.

War is great. We should start one with Iran.

Chimpy’s idea of winning the war in Iraq:

    1. Get that Oil Law signed so Big Oil gets those 30 year leases.

    2. Sign a treaty with Iraq pledging to protect those oil wells for 30 years with 50,000 US troops.

    3. In an October Surprise, send the other 100,000 troops home in time for the elections.

Freedom for Iraqis has absolutely nothing to do with it.

  8. Tom3 says:

Bill O’Reilly thinks sh!t bombs are not important and that particular bit of news should be suppressed.

Somebody should set off one of those bombs under O’Reilly’s desk.

Him, and numerous other people too.

    RoboTroll 3100 reports:

This is a non-story. If bombs don’t mean anything, then surely blown bridges don’t mean anything, either.

Those who report stories like this only do it to embarrass the president. He doesn’t need their help.

It’s only one blown bridge. They must have hundreds of other bridges they can use.

More cars are involved in accidents in the US in one day than Iraqi bridges are blown up. That is what’s known as “perspective”, people.

    Thank you.

#10 – Thanks, Rick. Good DKos diary, and good link to Juan Cole within the diary.

  12. Alejandro says:

    Here comes encirclement.

  13. Evil Spaniard says:

The good news is that the bridges went down totally painted, three coatings.
