Percentage of Americans who think the country is on the right track in a new NBC/WSJ poll out tonight, the lowest figure in 15 years. President Bush’s approval rating is at an all-time low of 29 percent. NBC’s Brian Williams reported:

We are in a volatile period in modern American history. The mood of this nation, which was after all founded on optimism and a promise of a better life, has turned decidedly grim and downright angry on some subjects.

When are you going to post the story about the low approval rating of congress?

Robo troll is right. The American people wanted significant change on Iraq and other issues. They were, in short, fed up with a corrupt Republican Congress whose members bent over to allow Bush homosexual relief up their *****. Unfortunately. Pelosi failed to live up to the promise and expectation of confronting petty and delusional tyrant This is supported by the fact that the Dem’s approval level and Congresses approval level has consistently fallen with every failure of the Democratic Party to take on and dispose of the tyrant.

Mr. Prewsident: The lowest rating refers to the history of ratings IN THAT POLL. Yes, Bush has reached 28% in other polls. This is a first for the WSJ poll.

  11. ReadyForChange says:

So basically, it’s meaningless to say “all-time low” because someone could just poll all the people… oh, I don’t know… here at TP, and then the “all-time low” would be something like 1-2%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! With a 1% margin of error.

  16. dixie blood says:

    Wake up!!

This is an MSM poll that means nothing to anyone other than those who pretend to decipher truth from tea leaves and scattering cockroaches!!!

  17. JPV says:

When are you going to post the story about the low approval rating of congress?

    Comment by bilbo

    Yeah true.

However, I really like how you “conveniently” left out the context of why Congress currently has such low approval ratings…

IT’S BECAUSE THEY WERE GIVEN A MANDATE, BY THE PEOPLE, TO REEL IN THE ABUSES OF THIS OUT OF CONTROL ADMINISTRATION AND IT’S TOTAL MISHANDLING OF THE WAR IN IRAQ.

  18. Kate Henry says:

“has turned decidedly grim and downright angry on some subjects.”

Ya think??? There really isn’t much to be happy about what is going on in this country. At first I was having a ball watching the Republic party implode, but now I am just plain angry and terrified that these insane people who are running this country might just ruin this country for generations to come.

  19. JSchmo says:

The president does deserve to be impeached, but poll numbers should not be the deciding factor as #12 suggests. If so, then what do we do with all the senators and congress creatures? After all, their approval rating (save Nancy Pelosi) is lower overall than dumbya.

  20. veritas says:

JMohr: You are absolutely correct. The american people who placed their faith in this new congress are gravely disappointed in their failure to end this war – as well as to bring about impeachment charges. The ridiculous excuse vis-a-vis impeachment is that it takes too much time – well, hello and howdy pardner – but what the hell do you call these endless investigations which are going nowhere???? I call it an exercise in self delusion and the people are catching on. Impeachment should be the top priority at this point and yet I see nothing of the sort.

This is precisely why the Dems will plummet to the bottom of the pit faster than you can say “howdy pardner”! It’s one thing to realize that those in office are criminals; it’s entirely another when those posing as our “saviors” turn out to be just as inept and potentially corrupt as those whom they are pretending to save us from.

The people are disgusted, Democrats. Wake up and do something noteworthy and quit playing games of ring-around-the-rosy with these stufifying and worthless hearings. You’ve heard the mandate of the people and the cry for Impeachment should be ringing in your ears….the cry for impeachment should be so deafening that you can no longer sleep at night …. your mere conscience alone should be nagging at your souls to finally act in the best interest of the people who elected you.

Short of that, the anger of the people will come down upon all Democratic candidates like the hammers of hell if they continue to use stall tactics, endless and ridiculous hearings that insult everyone’s intelligence, and fail to hold this president accountable.

They’ve already totally bungled their “best shot” at righting this sinking ship and buckled under when they could have closed the purse strings which are draining the economy of this country to the point where economically we will never recover. Sure, Team Bush is responsible for it; but aiding and abetting a criminal is also considered a reprehensible, criminal activity as well.

  21. veritas says:

And, ultimately, the “blame” for it all will fall upon the simpering, wimpering Democrats who had their hands in the mix last!

  22. Kate Henry says:

““the lowest figure in 15 years 15 years ago was 1992. Hmm, let’s see. The president in 1992 was… Oh, how history repeats itself…”

Sorry Bryan, you can’t nail this one on Clinton. Someone has their numbers wrong. Here’s the lowest for Reagan through Clinton:

Bill Clinton’s lowest rating during his presidency was 36 percent; Bush’s father’s was 29 percent, and Ronald Reagan’s was 35 percent.

  23. veritas says:

Off topic but wondering….where the heck was Obama when they voted on the Gonzo debacle???? Obviously AWOL, Barak’s camp should be apologizing profusely to the american people who will now hold him accountable for his “no show” and lack of vote.

It’s unfortunate that he will go down in flames now since he was perhaps THE only one of the bunch with “clean hands” with regard to the War. Ah well….the leopard shows his spots sooner or later, eh?

  24. veritas says:

#22 The professional prognosticators and statisticians have predicted that impeachment will definitely occur when Bush’s number reaches that “28″ number.

    Comment by JSchmo — June 13, 2007 @ 7:53 pm

#12 is not using poll numbers as a reason for impeachment. You’ve misread the comment. veritas’ point is that the numbers are moving against this criminal, ph*cking-all-of-America-in-the-a**, press-a-dent and in favor of a ground swell of intelligent, fair, free people who want this GW Botch out of office and in jail!!!!!

  26. spit take says:

    # 22 Kate Henry:

my reading of Bryan’s post was that he was pointing out that the last time the mood of the country was this low, the president was ANOTHER George Bush.

Clinton didn’t take office until January ‘93.

  27. JPV says:

The professional prognosticators and statisticians have predicted that impeachment will definitely occur when Bush’s number reaches that “28″ number.

I suggest that you don’t either.

  28. Jim Wolf359 says:

Kate, I don’t think thats what Bryan meant. If memory serves, I believe those were the numbers of GW’s father.

  29. Jim Wolf359 says:

    Whoops! I meant GWB’s Father.

  30. veritas says:

#25 Dixie Blood: Thanks for clarifying what I’d intended. That’s correct. The abysmally low poll numbers are an indicator of the increase in discontent and lack of faith in a biotched up presidency; however, we do not need declining poll numbers to tell us that this president has committed high crimes, do we? We’ve got plenty of hard, cold facts and evidence for that already formulated by John Conyers from the time when the Chimp’s poll numbers were significantly higher….so what does this abominabally low poll number actually mean?? It means that the level of disgust and mistrust has reached an unprecedented low….in which the tide of this country is repudiating, rejecting, and now demanding that George W. Bush be summarily impeached.

I have a strong feeling that when they suspend the elections next year, on yet more trumped up BS, this is indeed what will happen.

Hopefully, when the National Guard comes home, from it’s extensive training (coincidentally enough) in URBAN COMBAT and putting down INSURRECTIONS in Iraq, some of them will rebel too.

I’m not sure what it will take to break the stranglehold these groups(and I’m refering to the multi-national corporations –primarily arms and energy– and their politcal puppets) have on our political system. I’m not sure it’s even possible. But as JPV said stopping giving them our votes and voting for a 3rd party might be a good starting point.
Of course it would take an enormous grass roots movement to get a 3rd party into a position to even have a chance. The dem and repubs will do everything they can to get them off the ballets whever they can.
