Angelina Jolie blocks Fox News.

By Nico Pitney on Jun 14th, 2007 at 11:36 am

Angelina Jolie blocks Fox News.

Fox News reports, fair and balanced:

Angelina Jolie’s true colors came out Wednesday as she promoted a film about freedom of the press and then tried to censor all her interviews. [...]

Jolie told Paramount Pictures publicists to ban FOX News Channel and all FOX News affiliates from covering the “Mighty Heart” premiere on the red carpet. It was only with the intervention of mortified Paramount staff that an FNC camera crew was allowed to be present.

Apparently, no one told Jolie of the highly positive review FOX News had given “A Mighty Heart” from Cannes.

Wow, sounds like that was written by a Regency grad, or maybe someone from another American madrassa.

Jolie isn’t the government, so take your phony rhetoric about “freedom of the press” and blow it out your waxy kiester.

  2. Jay Randal says:

Jolie knows that FOX network is a phony operation that spreads propaganda for the Bush Regime. Bravo to Angelina.

Wonder if this has anything to do with her father appearing on Fox Snooze.

  4. gummitch says:

Hurray for Angelina Jolie! When FauxNews “reporters” start acting like actual journalists, even mediocre MSM journalists, they can be treated like “the press.” Until then, they should be treated like the propagandists they are.

  8. oldtree says:

why would she care about a fox review being positive or negative, and why would the author of this story use that as some type of qualifier?
don’t turn this into a tattler rag please.
the author acts as if fox is legitimate and that it is somehow an affront to them to be ignored.

you are losing me if you print gossip by and for simpletons

  10. Jay Randal says:

Jolie is not a normal air-headed Hollywood actress. She has a brain and tries to help the poor all over the world. I have more respect for Angelina than most in our Congress.

That’s because you live in Idaho and the only stars you see are overhead at night.

Seriously, though, the film is about the death of Daniel Pearl and appears to be good work. I think that notice of anyone standing up to the propagandists is worth at least a mention.

They told Angelina about the positive review. She just doesn’t appreciate fascist propaganda.

“Apparently, no one told Jolie of the highly positive review FOX News had given “A Mighty Heart” from Cannes.”

I think she deserves a little more appreciation than we’re showing Jolie. Apparently she couldn’t be bought by a “good review” and feels the same way about Fox News that we do. Of course if Fox hadn’t brought up the fact that she shunned them nobody would have noticed. So in their attempt to smear her they have shown their own inadequacies. High profile people shunning them, along with no Democrat debates, might be the start of people questioning the integrity of Fox Snooze. Well we can hope anyway.

Here’s some “news” for you and Fox – Fox has lost the battle over whether it’s objective and is now losing the battle over whether it’s even news at all. It isn’t. I was asking for evidence of how it’s “just like a liberal”. You basically proved my point by ignoring my asking you to back up your generalization with some proof. Not like WMD-style proof, but ACTUAL proof.

I don’t call Fox News “the press” as in “freedom of the press”, do you? They’re a bunch of clowns posing as serious reporters for goodness sakes. Anyone with a brain realizes that.

However, I do applaud Jolie for making the point that Fox news is the “most biased, unfair, and imbalanced” MSN program on the aid right now and she has a right to her own preferences for the publicity of her movie.

Besides, we all know that our rights and freedoms mean nothing these days anyway….so why all the bother about “freedom of the press” I’m wondering…..what a joke that is!

  44. veritas says:

#40 In Bush’s world you do precisely that! What you say and what you do are polar extremes. I don’t see your point, dude. Team Bush has become expert in doing precisely that for 6 very long years. Your comment is a non-issue.

Who’s the clueless nitwit who penned this? Freedom of Press is the relationship that the press has with the government. It’s not the relationship that the press has with Jolie. Banning comments on this site is up to the discretion of the site owners, and it is not a violation of Freedom of Speech. Really, get a frickin’ clue before you post such idiotic things. Idiot.

Would you call that ‘conservative’ by any stretch of the definition? Don’t throw the “liberal moniker” around these parts because you lose the debate immediately when you do.

  49. veritas says:

Hey Liberal Chris….if you think you will get any traction from using the moniker, then we’ll throw it right back on you…..you need all the help you can get in terms of personal traction, I’d say.

I wasn’t telling you anything, I was asking a question — do you understand how censorship works, or are you just being a douchbag? Technically, you’re using a non-sequitor, but I didn’t want to get into that because you are just learning about censorship — I don’t want to confuse you.

That would make sense if Fox News was the press, and not propaganda. They’re not even registered as a News network. They’re registered with the FCC as an entertainment network. How can you insist on freedom of the press when you aren’t the press?

And, tell me how the Democrats are practicing censorship by refusing to participate in a Fox News debate. Please, I really want to understand your mind.

I think you’re a little confused. An individual that refuses to participate in a news story, is not the same as a body (like the government) refusing to allow news stories to be written. We liberals would like to see Fox News go away, but we’re not pushing the government to put them out of business. You would like to see Air America go away, right? Then by your logic, you are practicing censorship by wishing them out of existence.

  90. werenotgonnatakeit says:

And we have returned to my original point. That Fox is not a news organization but a facist government propaganda outlet.

Joile has no civil obligation to grant access to Fox whatsoever. And yet Fox will still be free (as in not censored) to say whatever it pleases as it has the right to do. Fox cannot demand access to any private citizen or organization. They are not the government, you know.

What pisses you off is that this tactic of disrespecting Fox and ignoring it works and is catching on.

Maybe Wolfie (AIPAC) Blitzer and the other corporate sycophant “journalists” play the game but the rest of us don’t have to.

  102. NoOneYouKnow says:

She’s intelligent, altruistic, loves kids, gorgeous, loves sex, and hates Fox news. I love Angelina Jolie.

  103. katy says:

angelina jolie will be the guest
    on tonight’s DAILY SHOW…

you should’ve heard the male audience groan
when jon announced that last night…

  104. Chris says:

Wait let me get this right.

Angelina Jolie’s true colors came out Wednesday as she promoted a film about freedom of the press and then tried to ban Fox .

I thought this was a joke.

  105. Matt says:

She’s intelligent, altruistic, loves kids, gorgeous, loves sex, and hates Fox news. I love Angelina Jolie.
Yeah, and add not to bright on this point.
Why ban FOX News from this event? It makes her look foolish. Danny Pearl’s story is one that affected everyone no matter what political leaning. The political message should be one of tolerance as well as a free press. FOX News may not be news but they are part of the free press.

  106. Chris says:

What would D. Pearl think if he was alive?Shame on you liberals.

  107. hegemony57 says:

Would Sohzhenitsyn welcome Pravda into his dacha?

It’s way past time to slap these slimy little bastards down a peg or two and the only thing that hurts is cutting ‘em out of the party.

The sound of FauxNews cry baby propagandists whinning is music to my ears.

Snub ‘em til it hurts Angie.

  108. Ben Dover says:

Perhaps after his inauguration, President Al Gore will give Jolie the Medal of Freedom for being the first high profile person in the United States to have the guts to tell Faux “News” just how deeply to shove it.

  109. BARTLEBEE says:

Are we caring about what the “stars” do?

    I don’t care.

    Comment by Zooey — June 14, 2007 @ 11:43 am

    Thats brilliant.

Lets see, we, as progressives, who are desperatly trying to have our logic heard, and desperatly trying to shine a light on the corruption and crimes of the Bush administration.

But we “don’t care” about highly educated, articulate intelligent people who share our views, and posses an unmatchable capability to bring attention and focus to our cause.

    Absolutely brilliant.

    :|

    No wonder we’re loosing.

  110. BARTLEBEE says:

Now hear this all you would be friends and compadres who wish to bring your celebrity to our cause, and who dare to try to leverage their fame to influence the masses to see our point of view.

We “don’t care” about what you do.

    :|

We apparently don’t need your help…… after all, we’ve done such a bang up job so far.

  111. BARTLEBEE says:

We prefer to only fill our ranks with people of little or no influence, and we shy away from anyone who’s celebrity or fame might bring our message to more than 12 people at a time.

Please Angelina, we know you’re beautiful, intelligent, educated and articulate, and we know that whenever you speak, MILLIONS are going to hear what you say, so please, don’t say anything to help our cause.

    :|

We wouldn’t want that many people hearing about it.

  112. BARTLEBEE says:

I recommend from now on we only engage obscure and unpopular people who have no influence, celebrity or fame to help promote our cause.

    That oughta do the trick.

  113. Leatherneck says:

If the neolibs think the majority of the new media isn’t slanted to the left, they’re dumber than I thought. Fox on the other hand has been proven many times over to be neither left nor right. More and more intelligent people are realizing this. Maybe that’s why Fox News is kicking CNN’s butt.

For now, the liberal media runs America. Their only real competition is in conservative talk radio. Liberals, of course, will not tolerate a free and open debate and must do everything necessary to eliminate dissenting opinions from conservatives. They therefore are trying to bring to us the so called “fairness doctrin”.

Although it was Trent Lott that said it, the neolibs have to realize that (conservative) talk radio doesn’t run America. Talk Radio is a reflection of America. Maybe that’s why and Rush and Sean and Ann are leaving all those fools at the foundering Air America in the dust.

  114. Stephen says:

I find it very comical that so many people have a hatred for Fox News. It is very rare that I turn to Fox and actual see news as opposed to some stale talk show, and the same is true for CNN and CNN’s headline news.

Get over it people getting upset and trying to think your bashing of Fox is actually going to put them off the air is moronic at best. The more everyone complains the more it drives a specific targeted audience to thier network. Get off your high horse..
