“Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid confirmed Thursday that he told liberal bloggers [this] week that he thinks outgoing Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Peter Pace is ‘incompetent.’”
Reid said he told Pace face-to-face recently that he had performed poorly as an adviser on the conduct of the Iraq war.
“I believe that General Pace would not be if he had come forward to be reappointed the chairman of the Joints Chiefs. It wouldn’t have happened and I’m not going to get into what I said or didn’t say. There is a long list of people including Senators (Carl) Levin and (Jack) Reed and others who have talked about General Pace long before I did. I think we should just drop it. The fact is, he’s not going to be the chairman of the Joint Chiefs, for which I’m happy,” Reid said. […]
Reid ripped Petraeus for an interview published in Thursday’s USA Today describing progress in Iraq. … “I was a little disappointed, to say the least, today reading USA Today newspaper, where he’s saying things are going fine, kids are playing soccer. The truth is, you look at another newspaper and look at a different page of USA Today, the bloodiest three months of the war has been since the surge took place,” Reid said.

Bravo to Harry Reid for saying something truthful, but he never seems to back his words with action. Talk is cheap, so he must act to stop the Iraq Fiasco War, or impeach Bush, or VP Cheney. Do something Harry.
June 14th, 2007 at 10:45 pmThe blind leading the blind. How charming.
June 14th, 2007 at 10:45 pmI like that Harry said those things to Pace’s face, before he said them to anyone else.
Someday soon, he’ll be saying the same things to Gen Betrayus….

big papa > even if the Democrats had 67 seats in the Senate, which is highly unlikely, they would probably still cave-in to Bush, because some would be “Blue Dogs” who are actually borderline Republicans. The Senate basically works for the wealthy elite and not average citizens.

Actions speak much louder than words.
You were given majority control for a reason.

June 14th, 2007 at 11:01 pmreid calling anyone incompetent is laughable.
June 14th, 2007 at 11:02 pmAn example of the Senate betraying the public: the so-called immigration reform bill. It does next to nothing to secure the Mexican border, exonerates Big Business from hiring illegals, allows illegals to continue to hijack Social Security Numbers, but makes them pay a fine that they cannot afford >$5,000. Most of them are lucky if they have $500 to their name, so how will they pay it? By stealing cars? Robbing stores? CEOs that hire them should be forced to pay the fines.
June 14th, 2007 at 11:03 pmReid is right about Pace and Petraeus. The only basis for controversy that I see here is that anyone disagrees with Reid.

I wouldn’t disagrre w/ reid, VerbalKint. It’s just that “19%” Harry doesn’t seem all that competent himself in the moment.
June 14th, 2007 at 11:25 pmPace out to just respond with the link to the Dennis Miller rant on Harry Reid.
And add “LMAO” to the end.
June 14th, 2007 at 11:34 pmReid also called illegal immigrants “Americans.” You guess how much credibility he has with thinking people.

**** Say what:The same general that goes against his own writings on “counter-insurgency which calls or over 500,000 troops.No where near that # of troops on hand but he advocates the surge because he wants an additional star.How many Americans are going to needlessly die in the meantime ?
June 14th, 2007 at 11:45 pmPetraeus is an immoral shameless character sounds better.

Most Democrats are willing to give these illegal immigrants a second chance (especially since many are indeed parents to AMERICAN CITIZENS).

Dennis Miller and his once promising career now relegated to spewing on Fox Snooze to a bunch of old farts who can’t think fast enough to understand what he’s saying. And he’s calling somebody else incompetent. Nobody at the William Morris Agency admits to being his agent on the record. And he calls Reid incompetent, funny coming from a has-been.

Reid is a Mormon?
June 15th, 2007 at 12:24 amYes shane > Harry Reid is a Mormon. He was born Jewish, but he and his wife converted to Mormonism in their 20s.

Dang. Well there’s a lapse in good judgement. Thanks Jay.
June 15th, 2007 at 1:31 amshane > Reid was abandoned by his birth parents when he was young and the Mormons kind of rescued him in Nevada. Most Mormons are Republicans, so Reid is something of an enigma.
June 15th, 2007 at 1:43 amStop the bashing of Leader Reid, as he isn’t our emeny. Further, I don’t care if he was pink in color. I go by the law of “show and tell”, produce. This senator has tried very hard to produce for the Democratic Party. The issue is the “Republican Troop Killers” will not bust from Bush (although cracks are appearing). Also, it has always been true that both coasts LEAD THE WAY in progressive ideas. The Midwest and more the South is always SLOW TURTLES WALKING to catch on.
Now, go get busy, and TRY very hard to TURN the 60 votes needed to end the slaughter of this war. Our soldiers are depending on us to help anyway we can. Given the fact that even the elite forces are burning out, time is truly running out. - ( d -green, green, rangers, navy seals, special forces).
What you can do:
Write and or CALL your State Senator Offices if you reside in a RED State and or Blue DOG (turtle state) state.
Gather and ask as many people to do same. Where do I acquire the people to call or write, list below.
Your:
Doctor, Denists, Vet., Tailor, Banker, NeighborS, Grocery Store Manager, Childrens Activiies that you are invloved in, Paino and Guitar Teachers, Girls Scout MOMS, College Friends, Co-Workers, Church Friends, Business Associates.
And yes I’ll keep quality stock like Reid, although he isn’t my Senator. Lucky for US, my Senators are truly caring individuals, and are bright blue - quality stock. Further, I dread the day when either retires. Further, they aren’t bumps that just sit there and do nothing. They work behind the curtains as does their office people.
All the best,
The Cat, the LION

June 15th, 2007 at 8:12 amHow can Republicans ever win the war on terror when they whine and cry like babies over stupid sh*t like this?
Reid just better not f-ing apologize for this.
June 15th, 2007 at 9:16 amNancy from post #19:
Yes, you’re right. We should give them a second chance…at breaking our laws…
Most are not parents of American citizens (where did you get that piece of b.s. info?) and even if they were, they’re still illegal immigrants and not Americans!
June 15th, 2007 at 10:16 am“I’m not going to get into what I said or didn’t say” is a confirmation that Reid called them “incompetent???????”
June 15th, 2007 at 10:17 amExley, did you actually read it? Yeah, he confirmed that he had made comments to that effect and said he didn’t want to get into it again. Did you just read that one line?
‘Reid said he told Pace face-to-face recently that he had performed poorly as an adviser on the conduct of the Iraq war.
“I believe that General Pace would not be if he had come forward to be reappointed the chairman of the Joints Chiefs. It wouldn’t have happened and I’m not going to get into what I said or didn’t say. June 15th, 2007 at 10:20 amJPark,
He confirms he criticized Pace. He does not confirm he used the term “incompetent.” Again, “I’m not going to get into what I said or didn’t say.”
June 15th, 2007 at 10:23 amAgain Exley,
“Reid said he told Pace face-to-face recently that he had performed poorly as an adviser on the conduct of the Iraq war.”
That sounds like he called Pace incompetent.
June 15th, 2007 at 10:24 amJPark,
Reid pointedly refuses to admit or deny that he used the term “incompetent.”
And the he begs the reporters to “drop it.”
It is pretty clear that Reid recognizes that if he admits to calling Pace “incompetent,” he comes across as a disrespectful jerk.
Let’s face it–Broder was right about this guy. Reid has been a disaster for the Democrats.
June 15th, 2007 at 10:32 amHarry Reid seems to have softened his remarks to the press. I would love for him to go further and say Pace is an ignorant, imcompetent buffoon. He would be telling the truth. However, the way the MSM treats Democrats (even nominal Dems like Reid) I don’t blame him for avoiding it.
As for Broder, you know what they say about the sun and dogs a$$es.
June 15th, 2007 at 10:43 amSo, let me get this straight, Senator Traitor Reid hasn’t gone to Iraq, he is sitting in his cozy, air conditioned office, with a television, starbucks coffee, hot women all around him, and he is claiming that General Petraus who is in Iraq day in and day out is lying?
How does Sen. Traitor Reid know? when’s the last time Reid went to Iraq?
Sadly enough, Senator Traitor Reid is trying to appease looney toon blogs like this one.
You see, when I was President, i did whatever I wanted because I could. no one controlled me, blogs didn’t exist. Today, looney toon blogs like this one control our party.
how truly sad.
Reid in a air conditioned office in Washington DC claims that he knows more about Iraq than the General that wakes up in Iraq.
Only my retarded and stupid left wing sheeps believe Senator Traitor Reid.
June 15th, 2007 at 10:58 amJPark,
How would Reid know about what is going in Iraq? When’s the last time that Reid was in Iraq?
How is Pace ignorant? because the media tells you so? because the media is obssesed with showing only the bad things going on in Iraq?
can you imagine if the anti-military, anti-American media was in the Battle of the Bulge? this battle was a complete blunder and almost lost by the Americans. If the media would have been there reporting like they are reporting today from Iraq, we would have never won against the Germans in the Battle of the Bulge.
Senator Reid is a pathetic idiot who has a 19% approval rating, worst than that of the President.
Who are these 19% pathetic, blind buffoons, stupid morons that still suppor the out of touch, the out of the main stream Senator Traitor Reid?
June 15th, 2007 at 11:01 amSenator Reid has a 19% approval rating, 19%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
who are these pathetic 19% fools, idiots, out of the main stream poorly educated fools that still back up Reid?
and let us not even start talking about the Democratic led Congress which has a 23% approval rating, also worst than that of the President.
who are these 23% buffoons who are still supporting the out of touch, out of the main stream Democratic Led Congress?
June 15th, 2007 at 11:03 amWow, my comment was deleted? For what?
June 15th, 2007 at 12:08 pmDescribing Harry
Harry Reid while speaking to our wacky friends form the left side of the blogosphere called Gen. Pace and Gen. Petraeus “incompetent” which seems like an odd judgment from the stellar human being Reid is. It made me think: What are some things to call Senator Reid?
THINGS TO CALL HARRY REID
* Incontinent
* Spineless
* Doddering
* Dimwitted
* Laugh-inspiring
* Wrinkly
* Corrupt
* Weak
* Sexually-confused
* Squishy
* Diarrhea-prone
* Flammable
* Suzy

June 15th, 2007 at 12:14 pm“That was fun!”
And pointless. Good job.
June 15th, 2007 at 12:19 pmExley, Pres Clinton, Frank J,
Please provide some examples of Pace’s competence in his job as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs that make Sen. Reid’s comment so out of line. If he was so competent, why haven’t we “won” yet?
