“Taliban suicide bombers

launched a second day of attacks in Afghanistan on Saturday, killing at least four people in the capital and a northern city, raising tensions in areas that had been considered relatively secure.”

Actually, Bush cut and ran from Afghanistan long ago. The problem is, that is where the terrorists actually are. Bush does not want his terrorists friends to get hurt, so he surrendered to them in Afghanistan long ago. That is why he did not like it when Clinton was sending cruise missiles into Afghanistan. Bush was afraid that his friend Bin Laden might get hurt.

Bush warns he’ll use veto power to rein in spending
    POSTED: 11:42 a.m. EDT, June 16, 2007

    http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/06/16/bush.radio.ap/index.html

Republicans in the House vow to support Bush vetos on any spending bill that exceeds what He requested, beginning with a Department of Homeland Security bill just passed by the House.

So, after 6 years of “tax-cut and off-budget deficit spending” funding Wars in two countries, Bush says he doesn’t want to return to the days of “tax and spend.”

Don’t you wish you, too, could have a blank check to borrow and spend on anything you wanted, leaving it up to your children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren (ad infinitum) to pay it off?

Where has anyone said that? Oh, you must be talking about Redstate. Most dems support the war in Afghanistan. Republicans don’t because they love the terrorists and hate the troops. Most republicans go to bed each night jacking off to the swastika and listening to recordings of concentration camps and torture screamings.

    NATO Image Problem: Civilian Deaths

KABUL, Afghanistan – NATO has an image problem in Afghanistan _ and a U.S. soldier who fired a Humvee’s machine gun into a crowd of civilians after a deadly suicide bombing Saturday shows why.

Despite the Taliban quickly claiming responsibility for the car bomb attack on a U.S. convoy that left four Afghan civilians dead, people on the street became enraged only after American bullets landed in the crowd, killing one and wounding two.

Some 50 to 100 people began chanting “Death to America,” and others jabbed their fingers at Afghan police.

Following the attack, foreign soldiers shot dead a civilian and wounded three more, police said.

It was not clear why the US soldiers had fired on the crowd that gathered at the site of the suicide car bombing.

Wow, a few attacks and you guys are all ready to declare Afghanistan lost. Oh by the way we’ve killed two of the Taliban’s top commander’s in the past three months, but of course to comment on that would mean you would have to admit we are doing things right, and you would rather fall on your swords then to admit that. And before you start in on your, “well if you support it so much why don’t you join and fight” I’ve been serving in the Army for the past 5 1/2 years and I’ve been to Afghanistan and Iraq already.

  30. Chris says:

    Ghost,

I think the answer is not to overreact when something like this happens. Much like Iraq, this war is going to be won by the people of Afghanistan. They are rejecting the Taliban in their towns and villages much like Iraq’s are rejecting Al Qaida. There was a great special on the Nation Geographic channel about two weeks ago about Special Forces units in Afghanistan. In one scene, over 30 tribal elders, some of them walking for two days to meet us, brought a letter in which they said they are rejecting the Taliban in their villages and were asking us to help them. Insurgencys thrive on being able to have a base within the local populace the move about and conduct attacks. We are doing our best to take away that base in Afghanistan and Iraq.

  31. Chris says:

    Tobey,

I love my job and I have a college degree. It is ignorant to think that everyone who joins the military is doing so because it’s their last resort. I could go into the reasons why I joined, but I think they would be lost on you.

  32. Wayne A. Schneider says:

    Chris,

I apologize for not mentioning this sooner, but in all sincerity, thank you for your service to our country.

I believe that you will find that most Americans, including many liberals, support what we’re trying to do in Afghanistan. It’s the war in Iraq that was never necessary and which has caused us to become less safe due to the way in which it was botched from the get-go.

Butu we shouldn’t have outsourced the job of getting bin Laden to a group of people willing to be bribed. Anyone willing to be bribed to do something is willing to be bribed by another person to then not do it. And that’s what happened in Tora Bora.

Continued success in your military career, and may you and your fellow troops all come home safe a soon as possible.

Wayne A. Schneider, frmr SSGT, USAF 1983-88

Well no. Because apparently the Bush administration isn’t as stupid as you.

Been a while since we’ve seen an Afghanistan update here.

Long spell waiting out all those media articles about successes in targetting Taliban leadership over there has resulted in a lackluster turnout for the long awaited spring offensive eh TP ?
Great to have some bad news to finally report isn’t it. Phew.

  36. JPark says:

“Well no. Because apparently the Bush administration isn’t as stupid as you.”

That is funny, Kilo. You guys don’t do anything to actually win the war in Afghanistan. As a matter of fact you steal troops from the real war to send to that hell-hole Iraq and now you are saying the Bush administration is intelligent? You righties sure are brainy.

Uh no, that would be you. Were’nt you going to correct your assertion that I was somehow linked to policies that dictate the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq ?

My views posted here are that:
    1. TP has held off posting any news about the wider Afghanistan conflict until there was a bad anecdote to quote.
    2. Afghanistan isn’t in the Middle East.
    3. I’m not American or anyone else who comprises a body responsible for managing wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

I’ll stand by these. As yet you haven’t provided me a need to as they haven’t been challenged.

  50. JPark says:

Kilo, are you stoned? Do you really think the right wants you to know how “well” Afghanistan is going?

  51. JPark says:

I get it Kilo, you are a hardcore supporter for every f^cking war but you say “Jeez, I am not from the US so I don’t have any responsibility”. No, jackass, your attitude is exactly the reason we have lost two wars in the last few years.

I am certainly a supporter of the invasion of Afghanistan, as anyone not wanting to look like a complete c**t after 9/11 will probably want to reconsider themselves.

And it is this support for the war in Afghanistan that has led to you losing it you say ?
That doesn’t make any sense under any circumstances.

On the other hand declaring that a counter-insurgency operation is “lost” after 5 years regardless of what is occurring would certainly qualify as something you could “lose it”.

After all you could win it just as easily by declaring it has been won, regardless of what the developments are.

  53. Kilo says:

    Comment by JPark — June 17, 2007 @ 1:37 am

Based on them dedicating more space to citing reports from Afghanistan than this place ? Well obviously yes.

Am I stoned ? How about you. What message do you interpret about right-wing blogs wanting to report far less news from Iraq than left-wing blogs do ?
That left-wing blogs don’t want you to know what’s going on ? Huh ? Shouldn’t that be the other way around, smacktard ?

Seriously. How smart do you think you look making comments about others being on drugs when you cannot understand very simple concepts being discussed, cannot hold a discussion on any topic you appear to want to and you continually contradict yourself ?

  54. JPark says:

Kilo, look at Afghanistan. How is it going?

  55. JPark says:

Kilo, I am a fool. I should not respond to some dumb-a$$ that has no clue what the world is actually about. My deepest apologies, Goober.
