Of course there’ll be troop reductions in September. I predicted that months ago.

What Mitch isn’t telling us is that an optimistic report from Petraeus goes without saying: he’s a general, and he’s never met a job he couldn’t get done even if it’s hopeless.

So in response to that that optimistic report, there’ll be a token draw down of a few thousand — a bone tossed to a weary public tired of this disaster — in order to prolong the actual occupation and tamp down some of the dissent. After all, victory will then be in sight. Uhh, yeah — right.

And of course, for those among the right wing talk show listening set, it’ll bring them all back into the fold. And as disseminated by the inquiry-free corporate media, a substantial portion of thinking people will also be fooled just long enough for this chimpanzee to run out the clock.

At that point, it’s Hillary’s problem, and she’s gonna have to pull some really creative sh!t outta her ass to run out her clock. But she won’t be leaving Iraq in any way but verbally. No one within reach of the Presidency from either party would dare leave a military vacuum on all that oil.

Trust me on this — we’re in Iraq to stay, no matter what any politician says. But that’s like water under the bridge to me: I’m more concerned with is the potential for Chuckle Nuts to start bombing Iran about this time next year.

There has to be a troop cut fairly soon if only because the United States cannot maintain that troop level indefinitely. The military is about to break and bringing our boys home may be the only way to save it.

Do not forget that the huge new American Embassy in Baghdad opens in September. Bush and his corporate stooges in the press will claim that represents success, so the troops will remain in Iraq for the rest of his term. If Hillary Clinton becomes president, then she will say the US cannot abandon the giant expensive Embassy, so the troops will remain for her 4 to 8 years in office. Her hubby Bill will tell her what to do, after he consults with Bush Senior daily. WE are being conned and swindled by both political parties now.

I think September is “magical” because it precisely coincides with a new “fiscal year”, and the end of summer vacations, which, Americans, trusting they are going to be safe, and not have to worry about being responsible or making any decisions, will continue to take.
(America’s economy depends on it.)
Also, consumers will begin to think about winter heating bills, and will lean towards supporting aggressive measures elsewhere in the world to make sure we have enough heating fuel.
And, of course, it’s never to soon to start thinking about Christmas, as American enslavement to its consumer driven capitalist sex-crazed obsession with ME ME ME rolls on.

i’m not quite as cynical as some. i think the heart land and the former base of the republican party are just as outraged by the neocon control over their former party and the msm acquisense to it all.

i think those in the republican party other than the necons are fearing total desimation with the current course of Iraq and Iran. the necons are acting like this is their last shot, and don’t really care about the consequences to the repbulicans.

Look behind the scenes and you’ll see how the crime team is packing up and stealing as much as possible to put in the off shore accounts. The White House never gave a thought about our troops, they were used for Halliburton to get control of Iraq oil rights. Notice how the troops don’t have equipment, medical care or pay for their families. Yes yes Bush gives gifts to the dead soldiers families. To the widow a coin must like the ones you get 100 for $1.00 at flee markets and for the kids they get coloring books. Americans can be proud of how our troops are cared for. As for the Trillions of dollars spent on the invasions well that goes to Iraq leaders, paid contractors, GOP officials and other pay offs. I fun now when I read the news about the poor treatment to our troops as Americans really could care less. Their more interested in who will win on American Idol. Karl Rove knew that and has been using the tricks and lies from day one.

The movie V for Vendetta makes the point that there will be war for the sake of war profits. It’s that simple. Our children, livelihoods, safety, employment, and economy will be sold off for profit by the big corporations.

Pharmaceutical corporations will invect populations with diseases that they have concocted cures for, and then they reap the profits.

Presidents manufacture enemies for the war merchants to build armaments to destroy, paid for by our tax dollars. Whole peoples are slaughtered, nothing changes politically, but the President and the armaments merchants reap in billions.
