That’s pretty much it. I figured to actually show that I wasn’t “Anti-Progressives/Democrats” I needed to let people know when I did agree sometimes as well. It has made a huge difference and actual conversations take place now, so that’s good.

And Iâ€™m glad that you support water purity standards.

Yeah, everyone is required to have food/water/air and shelter (this one opens up a whole other ball of discussions) as the basic necessities.

The government regulating those to a point that meets minimum standards for survivability of us all. While states should be able to adopt stricter standards, we have moved to a point where the government makes the standards and requires the states to move along or loose some other carrot.

My hardline stance would place general as something that truly effects every American.

Sounds like you’re a libertarian, like me, Tundra, except that you’re a conservative libertarian while I’m a liberal libertarian. My stance on what “general welfare” means is more, for want of a better word, “liberal” than yours.

And I’m glad that you support water purity standards. Liberals fought hard for that one while facing opposition from conservatives. I guess the conservatives thought you should be allowed to dump anything you want into the waters. Same with clean air standards.

I concur with your findings. I think the big place we differ is the word “General”

My hardline stance would place general as something that truly effects every American.

Perhaps:
FDA (Although they have royaly screwed this up)
USDA
Water Purity standards

I’m sure we could come up with a couple more, but I feel everything else should be left to the state.

thinking about it I may even give in on Education as far as standards go. (Being my view I can adjust as needed heh). I could even see a case for Global Warming

And if you take the preamble and re-arrange the words so that it’s a little clearer says:

We the People of the United States do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America in Order to:

1) form a more perfect Union,
2) establish Justice,
3) insure domestic Tranquility,
4) provide for the common defence,
5) promote the general Welfare, and
6) secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity.

So, I count six things they were trying to accomplish.
