REall Wages have gone down since the beginning of the Conservative War on the middle class.
Warren Buffet himself said that there was indeed a class war, and his calss was winning. Democracy cannot exist in its best form without a vibrant middle class, and we are losing ours.

Health Care costs, skyrocketing. Education costs, skyrocketing. Good Paying Jobs, leaving. Prescription Drug Costs, astronomical. Pensions, gone.
Energy costs, through the roof. Unions, being beat down by corporatists, and REAL wages are stagnant.

“The Markets” (I love how you say that – like you belong!) are not patriotic institutions. For this president, for the last 6+ years, the monthly average has been only 56,000 new jobs. The BLS says that we need something like 160,000 new jobs every month to keep up with the new workers trying to enter the workforce. That’s why the majority of us think this is a bad economy. Every month, another 100,000 cannot find a job.
To compare to other presidents:
Carter: 215,000/month,
Super-Ron: 168,000/month,
Poppy: 54,000/month,
Clinton: 237,000/month.
In the 10+ years the Bushes have been inflicted on Americans, they could count less than 8 million new jobs.
In only 4 years, Carter could count over 10 million new jobs.
In only 8 years, Clinton could count over 22 million new jobs.
In the 18+ years of 2 Bushes and Super-Ron, they could count only 24 million new jobs.

This 96% employment rate include people working part time; people working multiple jobs; people working from paycheck to paycheck; people working who have no benefits whatsoever; people working with little benefits; people working at Wal-Mart (America’s largest private sector employer), McDonalds, Burger king etc. And the unemployment numbers don’t include people who have been out of work for more than six months. These people might have a different outlook on their economic situation than you.

Some day they’ll wake up from the lies the media tells them (you know how a good stock market is a sign of a strong economy). And 4% unemployment (which doesn’t include those no longer eligible, or forced to work for less money). I have several friends working two jobs because cost of living increases have not kept up. And to maintain their lifestyle. (Like not going into foreclosure) they are forced to take two jobs.

The number of students enrolled in elementary and high school in 2003 — 49.5 million — surpassed the previous all-time high of 48.7 million set in 1970 when baby-boomers were of school-age.
I was looking at the number posted above for jobs created and decided to look at how many are enrolled in school that will eventually need jobs. Since there are 12 grades I divided the 50 million by 12 for an average graduation amount. We need to create about 4.1 million new jobs a year. Over Dubyas term he would need to create some 32 million jobs to keep up with enrolled students. 160,000 (1.9 million a year) jobs a month seems inadequate.

I think your assumption that every high school graduate needs a job inflates the workforce growth figure somewhat.
But, even with a sharp discount (to account for those who do not need jobs), your figure of 341,000 new jobseekers per month still makes the president’s performance of 56,000 new jobs seem all the more inadequate, doesn’t it?

Last but not least, the reason foreclosures are up, is that there are now lenders making “sub prime” loand to people who should NEVER have gotten a mortgage, and now they cannot pay. Financial institutions who make sub prime loans to benefit from the foreclosures are SAD!!!
