Snow Responds To Potentially Illegal Use Of RNC Accounts: Clinton Did It Too

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee yesterday released a report documenting how White House officials have regularly used RNC and Bush-Cheney ‘04 e-mail accounts for official government business, in apparent violation of the Hatch Act. The report also found that the RNC has overseen “extensive destruction” of these e-mails, which would likely violate the Presidential Records Act.

During yesterday’s press briefing, White House spokesman Tony Snow brushed aside this direct evidence of potential illegality. His response: Clinton did it too. “Those email accounts were set up on a model based on the prior administration, which had done it the same way, in order to try to avoid Hatch Act violations.” Watch it:

[flv http://video.thinkprogress.org/2007/06/snowclintonemail.320.240.flv]

Snow’s statement is false. In 1993, President Clinton’s then-Assistant to the President John Podesta issued a staff memo clearly stating that all administration e-mails dealing with official business had to be “incorporated into an official recordkeeping system,” stressing that no “e-mail document that is a Presidential record should be deleted.”

The Clinton administration’s policy also made clear that personal and political e-mail accounts — which are generally exempt from the Presidential Records Act — could not be used for official business. Indeed, the Bush administration has seemingly implemented a policy opposite of the Clinton administration’s.

Read the full memo HERE.

Transcript:

Q Waxman’s committee has put out an interim report on the issue of the RNC emails showing, they say, that there was more use of those emails than the White House suggested, indicating possibly widespread violation of the Presidential Records Act. It’s, like, 140,000 emails of Rove’s, so the White House Counsel’s Office is aware that official business was being conducted through this party (inaudible) system? Can you respond to all that and what –

MR. SNOW: Look, I can’t respond specifically to things that the committee may have put out. But those email accounts were set up, A, on a model based on the prior administration, which had done it the same way, in order to try to avoid Hatch Act violations. And we’ll just — we’ll leave it at that. I mean, these were designed precisely to avoid Hatch Act violations that prohibit the use of government assets for certain political activities.

  1. PTF says:

    No, no no.

Tony Snow was referring to the previous George W. Bush Administration — the one that went from 2001 – 2004. We’re in the second George W. Bush Administration.

GWB#1 did it, so GWB#2 can do it. Couldn’t be plainer than day.

  2. RoboTroll 3100 says:

    RoboTroll 3100 reports:

    Clinton Did It Tooâ„¢.

    Clinton Did It Tooâ„¢.

    Clinton Did It Tooâ„¢.

  3. spit take says:

I think PTF nailed it. TP jumped the gun; Snow was clearly referring to the previous Bush administration.

    PTF also nailed the logic:

GWB#1 did it, so GWB#2 can do it. Couldn’t be plainer than day.

    Well done.

  4. kelso says:

Prove it Tony. Clinton-era emails (if you’re not full of shite like usual) should still be around somewhere.

  5. Bill Gordon says:

The facts are obvious. This is and has been a runaway criminal administration that has been allowed to perpetrate any crime it chooses to, and with the exception of Scooter Libby (who will no doubt be pardoned), has and will not be tried and punished for their crimes. Why, because the government of this country is broken and may never function properly again. Time will tell.

  6. No Pardon for Treason. says:

The Clinton Administration also blocked access to those external e-mail accounts from the White House computers. Sort of the opposite of how this program worked under Bush.

  7. LandSurveyor says:

So he just admitted to deliberately avoiding the Hatch Act. WOW what an idiot.

  8. Peter says:

    More brazen illegality.

  9. kasinca says:

Everyday I read these blogs to find one thing the Republican Party or the Bush Crime Family can tell the truth about. Nothing yet.

    Q: What is conservatism?
A: Conservatism is the domination of society by an aristocracy.
Q: What is wrong with conservatism?
A: Conservatism is incompatible with democracy, prosperity, and civilization in general. It is a destructive system of inequality and prejudice that is founded on deception and has no place in the modern world.

  10. Crump's Brother says:

    SERIOUSLY?!?!?!?!??

They just walk in lock step. Trolls unite under your universal excuse!!!

    CLINTON DID IT TOO!!!

  11. upside00 says:

DAMN Tony!!!! Are you so lost that you have to fall back on the troll’s only line of defense (Clinton did it too!). I expected better from you somehow. Must be the chemo.

Do I hear Faux NoNooz calling you back? Maybe you need to take their offer, before they give the next plum job to Ted Stevens or Steven Griles or Ms. Goody Goodling or any of the other scumbags from the WH.

  12. MAF54 says:

Yeah, whatever. A memo is always a memo. The fact is that Clinton did just the same thing.

  13. swordsbane says:

Hell, Tony already denied saying that there was nothing improper going on in the DOJ, and we even have him on TV saying just that. Does anyone still think he doesn’t lie? He says one thing, and when it turns out to be false (or more usually, we catch on that he lied about it) he simply denies ever having said it.

And what’s worse, not one of those reporters in that little room EVER calls him on it. Just once I’d like someone with a tape of his drivel stand up and say “Respectfully, sir. You’re lying.”

  14. upside00 says:

Hey Maf54, where is your proof, exactly???

  15. linda says:

hmm, was there any follow-up to his question.

oh, that’s right. this is the white house press corpse.

  16. slappy magoo says:

if you took a hundred monkeys, gave them a hundred typewriters, and gave them a hundred years to try to write a contemptible character Aaron Sorkin could use in a political drama, they’d probably write up someone as jaw-droppingly stupid as Tony Snow.

    Comment by MAF54 — June 19, 2007 @ 1:57 pm

Who cares if Clinton did? I voted against him too. There is no murder case in the country where the defense uses the excuse..”Well this guy murders people too, so you should let me go.” I’m not going to buy that from Tony Snowjob either.

  22. Wayne says:

The fact is that Clinton did just the same thing.

  24. upside00 says:

#18 and of course, if Tony says it, it must be true?? Kinda like whatever Rusher or Haniteehee or glen beck says must be true too?

If so, then I really feel your pain, 54

  25. Damian says:

    His colostomy bag needs changing.

  26. No Pardon for Treason. says:

#17. Clinton’s policy was different because there was NO ACCESS to the external accounts from the White House.

Citing Tony “We never said ’stay the course’” Snow for your proof is laughable.

  27. mark says:

Anybody in the press room have the balls to call Tony on his lies?!?!?!?

  28. veritas says:

Is that all Snowjob can do?? Pass the buck??

Blaming Clinton is the ONLY thing any Rethug CAN do with the abysmal performance of their administration.

There is not ONE SINGULAR ACCOMPLISHMENT these guys can sing the praises of since everything The Chimp & Co touch turns to crapola.

  29. NoeCONS 'R' SCUM says:

When has the TRUTH ever mattered to SnowJob? He missed his calling as a used car salesman- an especially condescending, sleazy one.
oh, wait- being the “Press Secretary” for this Administration IS, being a used-car salesman. A used car no one wants anymore.

  30. veritas says:

And, with Snow’s recurrent cancer, it’s clear that he’s sold his soul to the devil, lock, stock & barrel! He won’t be around too much longer.

Speaking of which: What’s up with McCain’s melanoma which has returned? I doubt that he has 4 years to serve with what he’s got going on.

  31. DM says:

They really should stop trying to justify their behavior by modeling a president who was impeached.

  32. MAF54 says:

#26: Well, if Tony’s that wrong, why’s nobody calling him on it? Hmmm? Maybe it’s because he’s not wrong.

  35. veritas says:

I say to Tony Snowjob: PROVE IT! PROVE IT! PROVE IT!

The People HAVE the proof of this gigantic cover-up and destruction of email…..not to mention the illegality of merely having such an account to violate the Pres. Records Act. Clearly, the procurement of these accounts, along with those who “knew” and thus permitted these accounts (Gonzocchio, Bushitcocchio, and Cheneyocchio????)….Off to jail with the whole sorry lot!

  50. veritas says:

#45: Tony’s time will be brief – one foot on a banana peel and the other foot in the grave. There is NO doubt that his level of personal contamination and “complicity” in these lies against the people is contributing to his early demise. Oh well….although we wish this on no one, one always has the power of “free will” and “choice” to go down the personal path of self-destruction.

  51. MAF54 says:

They didn’t turn them over to congress and said months later that they are unable to retrieve and/or locate them. Should we just impeach the entire administration on charges of aggravated mopery then.

Sorry, I keep up with all news, msm and independant, blogs, etc. (except Faux)
Why should I limit my sources of information?
That would be limiting history reading/study to one book author.
America is dumbed down enough already.

  59. veritas says:

For openers, one must include Snowjob in the collection of “thinking, feeling human beings”, eh? Most intelligent folks recognize that he neither thinks before he speaks (or he wouldn’t engage is pure drivel) and certainly doesn’t “feel” as evidenced by his capricious, cavalier tone and tenor while lying.

As for being classified as a “human being”, I believe the jury’s already in on that count: Snowjob is a totally empty shell, a sycophant, a bottom feeder….belong the genus “amoeba”.

  65. veritas says:

#58 This was not to imply that one should become mired in quicksand; au contraire, mon ami! This was to imply that more truth can be ferreted out via the internet and it’s global resources. When one engages in this exercise, one not only discovers the enormous bias involved in our MSM but the level of overt propaganda as well. You be the judge, however….find your documented data, report, study, etc. and then see to what degree it is “bastardized” by our sycophant corporate fascist media who is propping this faux administration….and you will discover very rapidly that the MSM has been eclipsed totally and completely by the internet as a source of valid, valuable information and data.

  66. bill says:

It’s amazing that you spend so much time at TP and have managed to not learn one thing.

One possibility is that he says things that are so out of left field that the press is agape at his comments. Sometimes, although rarely with this bought and paid for corporate owned media, a reporter will comment on the lie later. But you wouldn’t understand.

  69. MAF54 says:

#65: Calling the internet a valid source of information is just ridiculous. It’s nothing but noise like this site, goatse and all the gazillion blogs where people who have, and will never have, absolutely no impact on our world write about their empty meaningless lives.

  71. veritas says:

Barfly: I concur with you only the extent that it is definitely not something to make jokes about; let’s face it, there is not a family in this country who has not been touched by cancer. As a student of metaphysics, however, I can assure you that what we believe, say, and do translates from our thoughts & actions and telegraphs this directly to the cells in our body; the mind/body is not two separate entities but one holistic unit. Therefore, it is no longer challenged that, just as carcinogenic substances are introduced into our cellular structure via atmosphere, pollution, chemicals, etc., so do our thoughts and actions contaminate our physical being. You really need to educate yourself in order to obtain the full picture before criticizing the scientific data posted by others.

  72. veritas says:

Besides, Barfly when did you become the mouthpiece for RU? Just wondering, dude as it is a huge boundary violation on your part.

  73. Rich Landrum says:

WHY DON’T reporters ever call Tony Snow on this stuff?

Where was the follow-up? Such as, I dunno, “Prove it”.

    Comment by Kay

There is no such thing as impeachment in a dictatorship or in a fascist regime. Maybe that is why impeachment is off the table.

  76. Beaugus Kridderz says:

If you really listen to what Snow is saying he is not denying or confirming Hatch Act violations or any other illegalities. What he said was that “they were set-up based on the Clinton model in order to avoid any Hatch Act violations.” Just because they were “set-up” that way has no effect on how they were actually used. Whover the Journalist is that asked that question should have followed up. Snow merely deflected and nobody called him on it.

NO! What matters is: Is what the current administration is doing wrong or not? If it is, punish them. If it isn’t, don’t punish them. Simple. Like you said: “Clinton’s policies are irrelevant”, except you left off: “to whether Bush’s policies are legal, ethical and right.” If you want to go after Clinton for doing the same thing, even though his adminstration is no longer in power, then I’m all for it IF he did the same thing. However, that does not absolve the Bush administration of their crimes.

When one views them in this fashion, they realize that they have absolutely no power here.

  198. Justice says:

In six short months the true depth of corruption that the Bushies and the neocons and their conservative agenda have been exposed for the criminals they are. They will all be tried and convicted after they are removed from office. Justice WILL prevail. The torture is that it takes so long to grind towards the whole truth. With the corruption being across the entire govt. spectrum in EVERY agency, it will take awhile. It is more than obvious the conservative agenda is dead and so is the Rethug party. They and all their supporters are criminals and traitors. These clowns that support pardoning Libby, a convicted criminal who’s lies contributed to the death of 100’s of thousands of people get’s off easy with a mere 20 months. He should be hung by his lying neck along with all the other criminals in this WH and all the agency heads who participated in this administration wide crime wave.
Their feeble “Clinton did it” defense is laughable and can not be verified as it is a LIE.
All the racist, corrupt lying Rehugs are getting what they deserve. Their DISGUSTING behavior trying to blame the blocking of earmark reform ( a complete fabrication) on Dems shows them for the liars and cheats they are.
More Rethug indictments will be coming in steadily. It is obvious via the hearings that the culture of criminality is pervasive. It is obvious from their attitude on immigration they are a bunch of bigoted racists.
It will take a generation to clean this mess up. Leahy and Conyers and Waxman should not stop until every one of them are put behind bars.

The judge’s decision will allow two plaintiffs to press their case that the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication (SWIFT) violated the Fourth Amendment and financial privacy rights of bank customers throughout the United States when it collaborated with president George W. Islam is a religion of peace as much as Christianity is. Like virtually all other religions, it depends on the followers. Statistically speaking, God has caused more death than any other single source. Genocide, torture, righteous wrath against unbelievers… it’s all in the Bible. The fact is that there ARE peaceful Muslims in the world, in far greater numbers than anyone admits, just like the tolerant, peaceful Christians outnumber the stupid extremist nutcases. But it’s the stupid extremist nutcases that get all the press.

Pick up a book. They’re those things they sometimes keep in libraries… have knowledge in them…. I know that’s a difficult concept…

Add to that the fact that this idiot troll cannot be paid for his services since his typing speed is highly suspicious. It takes this neophyte at least 3-4 minutes to formulate a though and then to coordinate his fingers to do the typing. Anyone who would pay someone for that level of proficiency would need their head examined themselves.

Typing is definitely NOT Maf’s or Roboto’s forte! Check it out for the fun of it and see for yourself. This, together with study of linguistics, provides all the clues anyone really needs to out the trolls for whom they really are.

‘Useless, meaningless lives’ tells a huge story about their own existence.

I would suspect that most Neoturds are like this. They want some inheritance to support their lazy ass while making sermons to those who work hard & live honest lives. (GWB, anyone?)

These Silver Spoon Surfers are like the kids in class who were jealous of everyone else that actually had a life and went to school happy. Or that guy who has been on the job 12 years, but still only does year 1 level of comprehending the big picture of the job.

Folks, they’re still jealous of a blowjob! My God, Neoturds, pull that old, fat, unused wallet out & pay $20. Then maybe you could put a smile on your face!

Neoturds are now excited about someone they’re trying to reincarnate into Reagan, forgetting that Reagan’s legacy is the same as GWB’s… lies, distortions and outright pandering to corporate greed whores.

Neoturds, you’ve got a whore for President! Enjoy it while it lasts, because like any busy whore, he’s going to get busted.

Now, take your lazy asses and meaningless lives and do something besides hang out with people you don’t fit in with. Didn’t you learn anything in High School?

  276. Bruce Gorton says:

    veritas

Nothing much to slap down. He has only posted unsubstantiated crap. The fact is that America’s news sources are pro-Bush. They have been since before he came into power.

When last did the President get asked a seriously difficult, unscripted question? Even the easy unscripted questions have the jackass fumbling them. Even a good president has tough questions to answer and they are not waved off with “I’m the decider,” not when you have got a real press with real journalistic ethics.

Your press is far more interested in being insiders then actually reporting what is going on. Look at how little press coverage your protests are getting, not event the detail South Africa devotes to street vendors in Durban getting peeved at getting busted for not having licenses.

This is why America ranks below South Africa when it comes to press freedom, despite America’s long history of championing press freedom, and South Africa’s long history of repressing it.

We have a press which reports the news, mostly it is apolitical, sometimes it is distinctly anti-elements of the left (For example, currently Cosatu is not covering itself in glory) sometimes it is anti-elements of the right (For example, the Boeremag didn’t cover itself in glory either) but we report the news.

In America? You seem far more interested in covering Paris Hilton going to jail.

I am a part of South Africa’s mainstream media, not a big part, my name isn’t in print, but I am a part of it. While there are things about South Africa’s media I would like to see changed I am not ashamed of my job. I would feel differently if I worked for the American mainstream media.

WTF? Don’t y’all know where the prosperity you’ve always enjoyed came from? It came from Democratic principles applied to governance after the last time “conservatives” let “Corporate America” run the show. Your education, your income, your healthcare programs (until Uncle Ronnie toook the helm), your infrastructure – the whole nine yards.

And you want to destroy that which made you. Why do you hate yourselves?

You’d rather follow a bunch of lying, immoral, greedy, criminal, thieving (from your own pocket), war-mongering, debt-increasing, rights-denying, vote-surpressing, Constitution-raping facists.

  334. Bruce Gorton says:

    The Joker

Corporations control your media, and what is worse, the worst kind of short-term-thinkers control the corporations that control the media. There is very little of worth in the average 5yr CEO. (So titled because they only stick around for 5 years, until the bills start coming in.)

The 5yr CEO meanwhile takes the interests of the advertisers in the news industry far and above the interests of the news-reader. The advertiser is in essence, the customer while the reader is simply the recipient. Go out, buy a newspaper and look at how much advertising copy there is in it.

Journalists have been fired in America for publishing the truth about products your media advertised, and the courts have upheld those firings.

If America’s media wants to know why newspaper sales are dropping every year, why the only newspapers with growing readerships are the news equivelants of Mad Magazine, they need only look to the fact that neither the leftwing nor the rightwing really believes what it reads in the newspaper anymore.

The hard news reader is switching to the internet and a few trusted sites, because the hard news reader is no longer interested in reading copy that is essentially censored by the advertisers.

If the news industry is going to survive we need a return in a big way of the news. Less editorial, more content.

My who? The media is pro Bush… or at least not anti-Bush, and treats the whole subject with kid gloves. The Muslims aren’t the cause of the problems or of the fight against us. The religion of Islam is being used as a tool by people to stir up trouble, just as it is used by Bush to stir up the US against them. It is taboo in this country to persecute a religion, but the media does everything but actually calling Islam evil. They constantly ask the question “Is terror part of Islam” Give me a break…. Pro-Muslim? Not!

  340. Wilco says:

Shareholders don’t control anything and they are largely temporary besides. Most shareholders don’t even really know what they have shares in.

As to the Muslims controlling your press: Not if your press earns interest at any given point because that goes against Sharia law. The is a reason why you have Islamic Banks, Muslims have specific rules when it comes to earning interest.

The guys who really control your press, are your businesses. And your businesses, your big powerful ones, are largely amoral organisations interested in making money, and a free press often gets in the way of this.

Oh I see, your talking about Oil and such coporations such as or like ARAMCO. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saudi_Aramco
Saudi Aramco’s history dates back to May 29, 1933, when the Government of Saudi Arabia signed a concessionary agreement with Standard Oil of California (Socal) allowing them to explore Saudi Arabia for oil. Standard Oil of California passed this concession to a wholly-owned subsidiary called California-Arabian Standard Oil Co. (Casoc). In 1936 with the company having no success at locating oil, the Texas Oil Company purchased a 50% stake of the concession.

Even so Joker Americans own a large part of the oil business. I used to work with some of these Texas oilmen, trust me, they aren’t governed by Muslims. Money is the name of the game.

  366. swordsbane says:

You know what, Herr Joker? I just realized… I don’t care.

The tactic you’re using is the same tactic that Fundies use to try to convert me. “Do this because God wants you to.” Except your argument is “Don’t do this because the Islamo-fascists want it.”

Either way, it doesn’t matter. I don’t care if the United States is getting it’s marching order from Riyad. Yes, I said that. I don’t care if the Arabs are calling the shots. What matters is the orders that come down the pipe, not what those orders are. Our rights are being stepped on and even if he’s just a pawn, Bush is responsible for it. If we kick him out and things don’t change enough to quiet the majority, then we’ll get rid of the next guy, and the next until we find a guy who will do what we say… or in your world, we’ll keep kicking out the middleman until the powers that be put someone in who at won’t piss us off, and if that means the Islamo-fascists don’t get us to behave, then that’s just too damned bad.

So even if I stipulate that what you say is true, it isn’t going to make me kick all the Muslims out of the country, or outlaw Islam, or make Christianity our state religion, or kick out both the Democrats and Republicans. I already have more than enough reasons to never ever vote for a Republican or Democrat again.

And weather it is why they hate us or not, we need to get out of Iraq and the middle east and Israel and let them solve their own damned problems for once.

Again with the preaching. Sheesh! It didn’t work for the Jehova’s Witnesses, and it isn’t going to work for you.

We ARE a free nation. The determiner of that is US, not them. I don’t care who our masters are as long as they know the lines they can’t cross.
We must vote.. period, and we must make certain the voting process isn’t corrupted. We can’t take back power because we still have it. As long as we can vote.
I’m not going to put anyone on trial for being an Islamic hack. I’ll put them on trial for violating the constitution. If they happen to be Islamic hacks, then great. It doesn’t matter who or what they are. It matters what they do.
We are IN Israel. When they jump, we jump. They can do no wrong. We back them no matter what. We do it because we want a friend in the region to play off against the others. Israel isn’t any more innocent than they are. There were plenty of cease-fires that they violated too.
If you are a patriot, the only thing you have to do is uphold the constitution. I do. The only condition besides number of votes and age 35 for president is that they must be a natural born citizen. Their religion doesn’t enter into it. If a member of the Islamic religion wanted to be president that doesn’t bother me. That his policies might conflict with the constitution.. that DOES bother me.
Americans DO run this country. The only freedoms they can take away from us is the ones we give them.

You want a free and sovereign nation? Then cut out the rhetoric and try using an argument…. not fear-mongering, which is exactly what the current administration used to get us into this stupid war.

That doesn’t have much to do with what I was saying. I was saying that politics, not religion is behind terrorism AND Christian fundamentalism. Political figures are using religion to make the masses agree with them unconditionally. We give weight to their argument by messing with their countries and giving them something to hate. There’s nothing like raising a generation of martyrs to help your cause. You don’t even have to survive your enemies. Islam is not any more dangerous than Christianity. Don’t get me wrong; Christianity is plenty dangerous, but that’s not the point. Clutching the Koran and saying “God is great” does not make someone a terrorist, or even a potential convert to terrorism. What makes someone a potential terrorist is nothing to lose, and America happily helps provide them with an abundance of that.

“I was saying that politics, not religion is behind terrorism AND Christian fundamentalism”

Politics in the Middle East is DIRECTLY controlled by religion. The U.S. being a secular nation prevent what countries in the Middle East can’t seem to get away from, i.e. the religious leaders having supreme authority over the political system. Iran is a prime example.

“Islam is not any more dangerous than Christianity.”

I agree by we aren’t talking about Christianity and Islam in general. We are talking about fundementalist Islam and Christianity in which one is far more wide spead and popular than the other.

“What makes someone a potential terrorist is nothing to lose, and America happily helps provide them with an abundance of that.”

It’s not America’s fault many of these people decided to pick up this violent form of Islam. The fact that the religious leaders in many Middle Eastern countries have adopted and profess this violent strain of Islam absolutely prevents people in those countries from prospering economically, politically, and socially. So clutching a Koran and saying we must kill the infidels, because your religious leader proclaims it, most certainly does make people become a terrorist. Again untill Islam goes thru the evolutionary process that Christianity did hundreds of years ago we are going to have a big problem for a long time.

I agree that people need to be prosecuted due to their illegal activities in this administration and possibly the former. The most important issue, however, is putting a person in office who has integrity and wants the government to, at the very least, follow the constitution as it was framed by the founders. The most important document ever written has been and is, continuing to be, twisted, ignored, violated to the point where it’s in danger of disappearing forever. There are many intelligent people on this site, so, I urge you to look at the political record of Ron Paul. I’ve never considered myself as a republican but what is important here is the man. He might not look like Mit Romney or have the political ruthlessness of Rudy or Hillary but he possesses something much more important. Integrity, the right answers to serious problems facing this nation and a firm belief that the constitution is the law of the nation. There is a reason why most of us are on sites like this one. We are tired of being lied to by the msm’s and not being listened to by the people we put in office. This forum(the internet) is our last chance to be heard and send a message to the neo-con’s that we want a change and we don’t like the options you are trying to shove down our throats. There is a reason why most people don’t know who Dr. Ron Paul is. The powers that be are scared to death of him. They try and shut him down with whatever means possible. He has won every debate poll convincingly, yet he isn’t even acknowledged by the msm’s. Check out his record, values, his life for yourself. I think you will be very surprised as I was at what kind of president we can have if we give him a chance. Let’s quit the bitching and take action. Lets make this a great nation again. I don’t know if we’ll get many more chances.

Dude, since this is your first and likely last visit to this site, you likely will not see this. However, in case you haven’t got a clue, the blogs such as this one offer the chance at long-distance discussion.

See, discussion about the political activities in this country are generally thought of as a good thing. Maybe you disagree, and that is your right. However, by your logic I would imagine that it’s pointless to discuss things political with our families or co-workers, or even strangers we meet in Wal-Mart. Because, you see, the discussions we have in those three environments are no different than what we have here.

  421. WC says:

Oh, and back on topic, Tracy. Maybe you’d like to dig through the archives at FoxNews.com and show us where Clinton “did it too” in regards to using non-official e-mail systems for official government business. Apparently Tony Snow doesn’t have the info to back up his ignorant claims because he wants to throw out “Clinton did it too” and just “leave it at that.”

And as I said before, the Repubs in Congress likely would have gotten wind of it and strung up Clinton’s ass, but then again they were too involved in Clinton’s sexcapades. Much more salacious, that.

  422. BW says:

Not to defend Bush or anything, I think he’s as big of a fraud as any of the Democrats are (I pity the fools who trust any politician, of any political party), but if the Emails are missing, and deleted, then how do they know how many emails are missing? I’m not sure I see the big deal.

The thing we should be paying attention to is the fact that both sides of the spectrum are currently trying to suppress free speech with the fairness doctrine, and sell our country down the river with the amnesty bill, and a only a few people who control the entire American Media. We have far bigger problems on our hands then missing emails. Open your eyes, stop being republicans and democrats, and learn to be independent thinkers.

We are being sold down the river, the constitution is being rewritten as we speak, and the American people still can’t get over the war between Demicans, and Republicrats. Pure stupidity. You are better off trying to differentiate Pepsi and Coca-cola.

  423. WC says:

Well, I see that my post was deleted that proved Bush is ignorant. I’ll be nice this time.

Tracy, there are countless “Bushisms” documented which show Bush is a few bricks short of a full load. You can find a great list here:

    http://politicalhumor.about.com/library/blbushisms.htm

These are the work of an ignorant man. These are not cute little mis-steps or simply a matter of choosing the wrong word or words to relay a thought. No, if this were the case, there would be way fewer goof-ups.

And I was a little harsh about W’s mom, Barb. Maybe instead of using the “B” word to describe her, I’ll just say she’s heartless and leave it at that.

Referring to Hurricane Katrina evacuees that were relocated to Houston, Mrs. Bush said:

Then she added: “What I’m hearing which is sort of scary is they all want to stay in Texas. Everyone is so overwhelmed by the hospitality.

“And so many of the people in the arena here, you know, were underprivileged anyway, so this — this (she chuckled slightly) is working very well for them.”

I am not and HAVE NOT defended Snow’s comments about “well Clinton did it too”.

BTW if you want we can have a frank discussion about the use of the office of the president of the United States for illegal fund raising that went on in the Clintion administration, not to mention that big violator named Al Gore…we can.

Oh dear God. In most of those quotes at the link you posted, Clinton was being comical on purpose.

“Being president is like running a cemetery: you’ve got a lot of people under you and nobody’s listening” certainly does match “You never know what your history is going to be like until long after you’re gone.”

Yes, people misspeak every once in awhile. Clinton did it, Bush does it. But there is a difference between speaking the wrong word and showing your ignorance.

As for Barb’s quote, the situation was bad enough for the folks who were relocated from NO. They sure as hell didn’t need for her to specifically point out that they were underpriviledged. It was an uncaring and heartless thing for her to say. Message: “You are underpriviledged and we are glad you feel at home.”

This is what’s so pyscho about Bush, Cheney, Rice and Snow. Even if true, they continue to justify the most disgusting and illegal acts because someone else did the same thing. All the republicans have always talked about taking responsibility for your actions but with Bush, the buck stops at someone else’s desk.

Yes Bush and Clinton are both good at it.

She was having sympathy for them and I am sure that they feel that that they are underprivledged considering their inability to rebuild their lives quickly.
