Yesterday, Newsday
reported that Rudy Giuliani had to resign from the Iraq Study Group because he was too busy attending fundraising events. His campaign responds, “The facts are these — as someone considered a potential presidential candidate, the Mayor didn’t want the group’s work to become a political football. That, coupled with time constraints, led to his decision.” TPM’s Greg Sargent debunks Giuliani’s weak excuse.

As if the ISG’s work wasn’t a “political football” from the very start.
Lying sack of sh!t.
June 20th, 2007 at 11:24 amFundraising? I thought he was lining his pockets, not raising campaign funds.
June 20th, 2007 at 11:24 amAny way you look at this it’s a win for America. Rudy didn’t have a say in the ISG and his excuses ensure he won’t be president.
June 20th, 2007 at 11:28 amI hope Rudy wins.
June 20th, 2007 at 11:28 amHe will end Islamic domination of America.
That’s why the Saudi and Iranian agents are attacking him.
The Muslims masters fear this man!
Vote for Rudy!

June 20th, 2007 at 11:31 amNo one cares about the Iraq Study Group.
It was funded by Saudi and Iranian interests.
That’s why he left.
He knew it was a sham.
We should leave Iraq and let the Muslims kill each other!
Rudy’s so evil he can’t even pretend well that he’s a good person.
June 20th, 2007 at 11:32 amLazy Republicans — these guys have never done an honest day’s work in their lives.
June 20th, 2007 at 11:35 amThis story hasn’t reached the networks, and probably won’t. But it signals the end of his chances to win under any circumstances. He’s just too greedy to lead.

June 20th, 2007 at 11:40 amThe Joker, if nobody cares then why is this in the news for a 2nd day? Could you provide me with the invoices from the Saudi and Iranian interests.
Interests. Could you define interests?
So you think we should leave Iraq now, but where you of the same mindset when we embarked on this crusade?

You need a shrink.
June 20th, 2007 at 11:42 amDoesn’t he just look delightfully insane in that picture? MUAHAHAHAHAAA, YOU’RE MINE, AMERICA!
xD.
June 20th, 2007 at 11:42 amThe real reason was the ISG was a joke.

June 20th, 2007 at 12:09 pmEven Jonah Goldberg has noted Greg’s takedown. When a GOP candidate is slammed in front of The Corner (National Review), it is pretty bad for that candidate. Even though Jonah probably does not like me - I did give him a hat tip over at Angrybear.
June 20th, 2007 at 12:41 pmI heard he was too busy plunger shopping.
Egan, out.

June 20th, 2007 at 1:08 pmRudi always reminds me of the ghoul in Nosferatu.
June 20th, 2007 at 2:19 pmRudy Giuliani or Vampire?
June 20th, 2007 at 5:28 pmRudy will never go over too well in the deep south anyway. Especially when they get to know him. He’s just so…friendly and warm??????!!!!!
What a control freakish creep.
June 20th, 2007 at 5:40 pmAnd as some commentators over at TPM also noted, Rudy was given the ultimatum by the ISG to begin showing up to the meetings or be kicked off the ISG. In other words, the idea of leaving voluntarily didn’t initiate with him. He was going to be canned from it and simply resigned first. His lame spin would be like Wolfowitz claiming that he was leaving the World Bank because he wasn’t able to commit the time for the gig.
It’s laughable.
