One of the most aggravating things about CNN’s morning show, when I saw Laura Bush making these outrageous statements was the IMMEDIATELY before her was Amanpour’s segment stating that the US had only allowed 10s of Iraqi refugees in. Not 10s of hundreds, not 10s of thousands, but 10s. I am writing a letter to CNN to point out this “balanced” reporting — ha! — to ask them why there is no analysis done between the two segments.

The Iraqi Red Crescent is a “sister” organization to the the Red Cross. The Red Crescent has the largest contigent of aid personnel in Iraq. You could check online for a way to donate.

I am so worried about the fate of Iraqi refugee’s. Does anyone know of a real charity we can donate to that would help these poor people yet would also not get me slammed into Gitmo as a terrorist supporter? I have already committed the cardinal sin of being an active citizen who writes her representatives and votes, that would get me waterboarded for sure!

On CBC radio recently there was an interview with the mayor of a small city in Sweden (population about 60,000) which currently hosts over 5,000 refugees from Iraq. He admitted that it was difficult for one town to handle so many refugees but spoke of the national government’s commitment to providing support for relocation, living expenses, and help finding employment. The contrast with policies and attitudes in the U.S. could not have been more striking.

80,000,000 $ per year / 1.4 million Iraqi â€˜guestsâ€™â€ and Iraqi refugees = 57.14 $ per refugee and year. Wow, after having bombed their country ad nauseam, and making them flee their country letting back all your possessions, and probably some dead relatives, the USA compensates them with 57.14 $ per person per year?

Guess that no one thinks that Hamas and Al Fatah were born in similiar circumstances, in poor refugee camps.

Why doesn’t the press put pressure on these people, challenge them on their ‘facts’. Do these interviewers just interview, do they not do research so that when somebody makes mistakes, or lies, they can retort, and confront them with real numbers. It is really frustrating that a viewer has to go to liberal websites to see any kind of challenge. The challenge should come immediately from the numbskull who is doing the interviewing. When this bullshit is spoken and nobody verifies it, it becomes ‘fact’ in the eyes of many viewers. CNN, Fox, MSNBC – there are no interviews anymore – just political junkets for right wing tossers to promote their ‘facts’.
