Beck guest used violent rhetoric about Hillary.

Earlier today, ThinkProgress noted this exchange between CNN Headline News host Glenn Beck and guest Michael Graham:

Graham asked Beck if he wanted to see the Clintons murdered in the [spoof Sopranos] video. “[S]eriously, Glenn, didn’t you at one point want to see, like, Paulie Walnuts or someone come in and just whack them both right there. Wouldn’t that have been great?” Beck responded with a smile, “No, I did not want to see that.” Graham said, “C’mon. … I wanted that.”

MediaMatters points out that on the May 7, 2003, edition of MSNBC’s Hardball, Graham said: “Anyone listening to Hillary Rodham in her speech last week about patriotism, that screaming, screeching fingernail, I wanted to bludgeon her with a tire iron.” Also, Beck himself fantasized killing filmmaker Michael Moore in 2005: “I’m thinking about killing Michael Moore, and I’m wondering if I could kill him myself, or if I would need to hire somebody to do it. No, I think I could.”

  1. SKdeA says:

This is the very basic difference between the right and the left. The right wants to kill people for their ideology.

  2. Markus says:

Look, when you grow up a fat kid, and the son of a baker, yeah, you’re going to probably go through your entire life with severe anger issues.
    Beck’s in pain, people.

  3. gummitch says:

The real difference is that the Right gets away with casual comments about killing people for their ideology. “ha ha, just a joke! Where’s your sense of humor?”

If someone on the Left had said this, it would be on the front page of every paper in the country.

  4. steve says:

I want these morons taken off the airwaves. If Imus can go down for nappy headed hoes, why can’t death wishes rate the same? The right wing is all venom and violent threats.

  5. The Republic of Stupidity says:

Right, the Pillsbury Blowboy as hitman…

What is w/ these pudgy, pasty faced hate-clowns and their endless toughguy talk? I mean, seriously, does ANYONE believe Beck could even take down a a package of Twinkies w/out help?

  6. TripMaster Monkey says:

Michael Moore should challenge Glen Beck to a boxing match.

I’d pay money to see that sh!t.

  9. AngryOne says:

Apparently, from John Cornyn, Tom Delay, Ann Coulter, Glenn Beck and Michael Graham to the right-wing grassroots, threatening judges is now business as usual for the American conservative movement.

    For the details, see:
“Libby Court’s Walton Latest Target of Right-Wing Threats to Judges.”

  10. Goose says:

Beck didnt agree, or are you wanting to read into this something which isnt there?

In 2005, Air America aired a skit in which a President Bush character was shot, a scenario that was serious enough to rouse the suspicion of the Secret Service.

There is a site called ‘Killbush.net’ at which you can find shirts emblazoned with that very phrase. Cafepress used to carry shirts that had a take-off of the Kill Bill movie poster that had basically the same theme. “Ha ha, just a joke” as gummitch says.

If you guys are going to be critical, at least have the decency to be critical of the entire system. When ANYONE advocates such a thing, you have a right to be insulted and they have a right to be investigated if appropriate, but lets give both sides an equal backhand here.

  13. JPark says:

Goose, it says”BECK GUEST”. What part of “Beck guest” do you not get (hint, there are two parts).

  14. JPark says:

Graham really has a problem with Hillary, doesn’t he? I get the feeling he had a wife once.

  15. Zappatero says:

Beck really wants to get fired, and it’ll be a badge of honor for him. Then Beck will get hired by someone else for more money. He’s no fool, it’s CNN Mgmt. who are the morons.

    What a good conservative Christian.

  18. Goose says:

Goose, it says”BECK GUEST”. What part of “Beck guest” do you not get (hint, there are two parts).

Hint: a show host cant always moderate the opinions and screeds that issue from the mouths of their guests, its why the delay button was invented.

A post previous to mine advocated removing Beck from the airwaves for something a guest said, Im wondering if you felt the same when Randi Rhodes aired the skit of Bush being shot?

  19. JPark says:

“Hint: a show host cant always moderate the opinions and screeds that issue from the mouths of their guests, its why the delay button was invented.”

Hmm, you don’t have a leg to stand on. One, TP said the GUEST is the one out of line. Two, want to guess how many times this nut has been on Beck?

  20. JPark says:

“A post previous to mine advocated removing Beck from the airwaves for something a guest said, Im wondering if you felt the same when Randi Rhodes aired the skit of Bush being shot”

Actually that is a great question. A similar one has been postulated before. If you could go back in time would you murder Adolf Hitler as a child? Great moral question.

  21. Goose says:

Hmmm, it was steve (post #4) who said “I want these morons off the air”, hence my reference to “a previous post”. Want to borrow a leg?

I have no idea how many times this particular guest has been on Beck. though in reference to the high dudgeon in which so many here have found themselves, Im still wondering if they found themselves outraged over similar liberal portrayals?

  22. Bill O'Reilly says:

A post previous to mine advocated removing Beck from the airwaves for something a guest said, Im wondering if you felt the same when Randi Rhodes aired the skit of Bush being shot?

    Comment by Goose

If you are looking for people advocating removing Randi Rhodes from the airwaves, there’s about 3,000 of them on the previous post on this subject. Or you could go to Drudge or any other neocon site. Why come to a progressive site looking for “fairness” when you people clearly don’t believe in it.

  23. Goose says:

Actually that is a great question. A similar one has been postulated before. If you could go back in time would you murder Adolf Hitler as a child? Great moral question.

If youre serious and not playing at this, it is a great hypothetical mindgame for debate. My answer would be emphatically no. Flame away if you feel it necessary.

  24. JPark says:

Goose, I will not flame you for that. I really don’t think there is a right answer. I know I would if I knew what would happen.

  25. Goose says:

Why come to a progressive site looking for “fairness” when you people clearly don’t believe in it.

Why the attack? Have I made any broadbrush references to anyone here, have I made any attempt to paint the regulars of this site as lockstep in their beliefs? How did “I” become part of the “you people”?

What do you know about me other than what you could glean from my few posts and why have you decided that Im seemingly unworthy of a decent and rational answer to my queries? If this site is a simple echo-chamber then you guys must get really bored.

Anyone here have the sense to actually discuss the issues or should I just be prepared to be flamed ad-nauseum every time I post?

  26. Chris says:

so talking about killing Bush is ok?

  27. Goose says:

Goose, I will not flame you for that. I really don’t think there is a right answer. I know I would if I knew what would happen.

Well thanks, jpark. I like to get questions like that because of all the combining themes that arise; the “if you knew then what you know now” type of questions. The one you posed could go on forever with all its possibilities, such as would JFK have been president without the war-hero exploits of PT-109 on his resume?

  28. JPark says:

Goose, I just wrote a long post explaining why you are being attacked by liberals right now but it didn’t go through. I will shorten it. Most right-wingers that come here are not interested in actual debate or even conversation. We are attacked by talking points and right-wing hatred daily. If you are not that way, be patient, you will be accepted.

  29. JPark says:

Chris, look at Goose, and look at my answer.

  30. JPark says:

    Hitler…Bush…I don’t see a difference, Chris…so…yes.

  34. Devil's Advocate says:

America has really fallen of the map of the civilzed world.

  35. Devil's Advocate says:

“I’m thinking about killing Michael Moore, and I’m wondering if I could kill him myself, or if I would need to hire somebody to do it. No, I think I could.”

Of course, the FBI did nothing about this. Right-wing threats of murder do not register with this government.

  36. Jay Randal says:

Beck is a right-wing lunatic, so CNN must fire him. FOX might hire him.

  37. Goose says:

Im not interested in being accepted, Im interested in reasonable debate. Considering I came here via a link, I was hoping that such a thing could be found. Other threads here have bemoaned the “freeper idiots” who stereotype all liberals, yet the same actions seem to occur here.

As I alluded to earlier, echo-chambers like LGF and DU are dull and constantly having to endure “youre a nazi moron” gets old quick. See quote #32.

  38. Goose says:

Of course, the FBI did nothing about this. Right-wing threats of murder do not register with this government.

  40. Goose says:

    Whoops.

I take it you work for the FBI, considering your intimate knowledge of their investigations? Believe it or not, just because you didnt read about something on the front of the local paper doesnt mean it didnt occur.

  41. JPark says:

OK, Goose, after reading my whole post you latched on to accepted. You didn’t really understand my post did you? How about this FU.

Goose, you sound like Jake, insisting everybody discuss the topic you propose. If you want to discuss firing Randi Rhodes, go to the thread from yesterday, I’m sure there are still people ranting about Air America there.

  43. Goose says:

With a name like “Goose,” I wouldn’t think you’d have diffculty with humor. Go figure….

The name references a certain motorcycle-riding cop. I do believe he had a good, if slightly deranged, sense of humor.

  44. JPark says:

Goose, after your total lack of respect for anybody that would show you some respect, yeah, I would guess you should expect to get flamed.

No the congress is at 14%, asswipe.

  46. Goose says:

You mean..ummm..the thread topic that I opined about starting back at #10? Just trying to point out the hypocrisy in play here to get the thread past such insightful comments as “Glenn Beck is a punk and a bitch.” Where exactly does one go from there in an effort to actually discuss?

Please forgive, Im new to the site and didnt realize that I must first research all previous threads before posting on the current list. Let me put my flame-hat on and we can trade insults about one another’s parentage.

Ummm, the thread topic IS “Beck guest used violent rhetoric”. If you’d like us to discuss what you “opine” maybe you should start your own blog and we can come there and discuss what you wish to discuss. You seem to be unhappy with every blog you go to, did you ever think, maybe it’s you?

  53. JPark says:

Goose, I reached out to you but you blasted me. I am not really interested in talking to someone like you.

  54. JPark says:

By the way Goose, irregardless is not a word, you moron.

I saw “The Road Warrior” in a sneak preview the summer it came out, at the old UC Theater in Berkeley, CA. Huge old place, BIIIGG screen.

It was a Friday night midnight showing, and the place was sold out. They were late starting the film and at one point I started stomping on the wooden floor, shouting “Kill… Killl… Killl…” W/in 30 seconds the whole place was in step w/ me. The entire floor was shaking.

The lights immediately went down, and the movie started… Irealized later that I had almost started a riot.

More of a Hendrix man, myself, but I love “Layla”, particularly “Why Does Love Have to Sad…”

  60. Goose says:

Whoa, you like Jimi too? I was going to reference Jimi instead of Clapton as a unifying force but I figured the chances of finding a fan of his would be next to nil. Definately one of the people I would class as giving an arm for the chance to meet and hear live.

When I saw Mad Max, I believe my brothers and I were the only peeps in the theatre, I dont think anyone wanted to see an admittedly poorly edited and acted film, but I guess thats what makes it a cult classic.

I saw it at the old Skyway Theatre in downtown Minneapolis, back in the days when going downtown didnt require carrying a gun. Fact is, we watched it three times in a row; the theatre allowed you to stay for free if you didnt actually leave the room.

  61. Goose says:

I ride motorcycles and I still think you are an uppidy prick who sounds a little too much like vv trying to redo yourself.

I have a 2005 Yami FJR and just recently put down some cash on a 2006 Suzuki Boulevard M-109R in blue (same color as the FJR). She’s a monster and on the heavy side, but what a sound. Even better than a Harley, in my opinion.

There is common ground among us, Im sure of that.

I’ve probably seen TRW 15, maybe even 20 times. (I’m a movie freak, what can I say?). I once sat straight thru The Deer Hunter, Apocalypse Now, and then The Deer Hunter again, all in one day. Then I went back and watched Apocalypse 2x and TDH once the next day.

Also, I worship Duane Allman. Gotta go. The babe is home.

Remember, anus, y’all are using this thread to blast conservatives for being violent.

That Glenn Beck. He’s a funny guy. He’s a comedian. He was only joking.

Right….You know very well that he wanted to agree with his guest in the worst way. But, I think that he learned a lesson from Imus and is going to skirt the line without walking over it.

The guy is a neocon creep, any way you look at it. Any anyone who thinks he is just a comedian is an idiot.

You are right, he didn’t agree. He just sat there with a stupid grin on his face. He didn’t tell his guest he thought that was an inappropriate thing to say either.

So, tell me why something said on Air America brings down the Secret Service, but something said on Glenn Beck’s show is ignored?

The SS was all over this hospital investigating this patient even though this was nothing more than words on a piece of paper. So, will the SS be investigating this “kill the Clintons” Michael Graham? This is a public threat to a former president and a current presidential candidate. It’s disgusting that people would actually talk about killing another person and act like it’s a joke. It shows how low the morality of this country has sunk. No wonder the rest of the world finds Americans vile and immoral.
