i don’t think you can argue the “relevance” of the bear attack. though it is a tragedy that a boy’s life was lost, i don’t think it’s particularly relevant for society as a whole. my opinion. if you’ve an argument to make about the bear attack’s relevance, why not discuss the deaths of pig farmers and their children. the numbers are much higher.

and, i forget who it was who said it, but whoever claimed that news and the media should not be used for information, i suggest getting ahold of Murrow’s monologue at the Radio and Television News Directors Association.

Indeed, it is sometimes difficult to follow the twists and turns of the trollish “mind” on a thread. Where one expects to find logic, one finds only repetition. When looking for relevance one finds only talking points.

I know you think you’re just the smartest boy ever, but it’s not even a particularly bright superficiality.

You people have more trouble following a thread. Ok, Kat, go back and read verrrry carefully and see if you can find where I said whether O’Reilly reports hard news or not. It’ll take ya a good while, so I’ll just tell ya I never said it. What I said was the headline is misleading. I won’t repeat the part about the dead kid again. Seems you folks want to kill babies and then ignore deaths of kids after they are born as well. I didn’t really expect anything else from ya though. If you are able to focus on the thread a little better later, start from the beginning and perhaps you’ll be able to understand it all by yourself! ;)

Pedophile, BushCo has made great strides towards converting the U.S. into a very Soviet style of rule. They do what they want, choose party converted to be U.S. attorneys, and enrich themselves, while the disparity between rich and poor grows ever wider.

Do you really think BOR’s viewers see his show as not objective. Its the No Spin Zone, is it not? There are unfortunately millions of people who watch his show, mostly the “White male Christians,” of course.

As an example, on the day that it was announced that there were possibly millions of deleted emails off republican national committee servers. The fact of the emails themselves being on these servers is illegal. There are so many problems with this, yet one look at the MSM newspapers, and websites and you wouldn’t have even known this happened.

It’s OK to provide entertainment within a news format. What’s not OK is doing to the exclusion of real news. It’s about informing the American public, and the MSM has been dropping that ball for years.

However the mainstream media does- pretend- I know- I’m one. The nature of journalism is to find , search, discover- weigh, balance thennnnn decide- it requires a liberal viewpoint. You can’t conserve the status quo if you are constantly tracking the evolution of humanity and events

I think the troops are best served by an informed public being able to make informed, rational decisions in the ballot box. This is the function of our press corps. No matter how you slice it, democracy is never served well by a docile or silenced news media.

Does that mean their families might see something unsettling on the news? Yes, I am afraid so- yet another burden they face because of this ill advised, ill conceived and drastically ill implemented unnecessary war of aggression.

I’m afraid that if we let the family of the deceased dictate what is “relevant” for news coverage, CNN will just be 24hrs of obits. Dont get me wrong- I feel for their families and its not that it isnt news. Let me put it this way: Is someone getting killed by a bear news? Sure. Does it deserve to be covered? Sure. Does it deserve to be covered *instead* of the entire Iraq war? Only if you’re Bill O.
