Election integrity panel turns partisan.

In 2004, President Bush established the bipartisan Election Assistance Commission (EAC) to help states overhaul their broken election procedures. But just three years later, the EAC is now facing allegations that “in response to pressure from the Justice Department, the commission altered or delayed research to play down findings on sensitive topics such as voter fraud and voter identification laws that many Republican figures and appointees would have found objectionable.”

Well, what do you expect from the Loyal Bushies in the Justice Department? They all are in place to “protect the integrity of elections” and eliminate “voter fraud.”

I mean, with such a devoted force of loyal federal prosecutors, who needs a Commission? Seems like a waste of taxpayer’s money to me. We should invest it in more machines from Diebold.

    /talking points.

  2. Man says:

Yet it was the dems who decided against strengthening voter i.d. laws.

Id also like to mention the Christmas Miracle of last november when the army of DFL lawyers went jobless after no voter fraud was found; ok so it coincided with democrat victories in the house and senate, but who pays attention to that. Its only voter fraud when the dems lose.

  3. GSD says:

The Man steps in with the pre-approved Rovian spin about all of the Democratic outrages and election thefts that they have been victimized by.

Nice work. Goebbels-Rove is proud of your lackeydom.

voter id = poll tax = illegal. if there is to be a voter id, then let the govt pay for it like they should…..

Hey, man. You got it backwards. The Republicans are the ones who always harp on voter fraud. This is why GDumbya pressured them to not release their “sensitive findings” that probably concluded there is little voter fraud.

Now, vote suppression. Well, that’s another matter. There’s a fair amount of that going on what with Rove-backed caging, machine tampering, etc. GDumbya wouldn’t want the truth of that out, either.

What? Partisanshipo in the DOJ? What a surprise.

Yet another coverup by the Repukes of their election-rigging crimes.

Someday the traitorous Repukes will pay for their crimes against this nation.

  8. BlueArkansas says:

Seems to me we’ve long since established that everythingis partisan for these fools. The neocons care nothing for governing; they wish only to rule by divine right! Let’s be done with their philosophy once and for all in 2008!

For more background on the Republican emphasis on non-existent voter fraud, see:

  10. Troll says:

The Republicans may indeed pay. But the solution is worse than the problem.

    Government is the enemy.

You are deluding yourself if you think only republicans are corrupt. The only solution to tyrannical unaccountable government is less government not more.

Power to the people will not happen as long as we continue to empower the federal government to whom which the individual voter means nothing.

The longer you hold fast to this foolish eutopian vision of benevolent politicians being elected the further down the road of despotism we go. It is nice to dream but grow up before its too late.

  12. Jay Randal says:

Yes and Bush Regime wanted the electronic voting machines, like Diebold, installed nationwide to manipulate votes for Republicans.

in re: “The GWB Presidential library”

Do they really need a whole library? Would just some shelf space work?

The Dewey decimal catalog there would be really small too: only stuff in the 200s.

(Lets see who looks it up to get the joke… ;) )

  14. Peter says:

The EAC has been a sham since the beginning. It needs a strong dose of sunlight into its operations. Its failures were intentional and strategically orchestrated by the right wing and voting machine manufacturers.

  15. Happy Guy says:

Wait a minute. I thought the Democrat motto was

    “Vote Early, Vote Often”

They want illegal aliens, criminals and anyone who gets sentence breaks and hand outs to sell them their votes. Heck, if it wasn’t for voter fraud Nixon would have beaten Kenney. If you try to stop someone from voting twice the Democrats call that “disenfranchising”. I could picture Pelosi fighting to get Guantanamo prisoner write-in ballets saying not to do so would be torture.

    ROTFL

#15 above is proof positive that right wing arguments are indestinguishable from parody.

    I ain’t surprise.
