Lurita Doan update.

By Faiz Shakir on Jun 23rd, 2007 at 12:01 am

Lurita Doan update.

Nearly two weeks after the Office of Special Counsel recommended the firing of General Services Administration chief Lurita Doan for “serious violations of the Hatch Act,” the White House says it is still reviewing the report:

A White House spokeswoman said today that the Office of Special Counsel report finding General Services Administration chief Lurita Doan guilty of violating the Hatch Act is still being reviewed. … The spokeswoman also noted that there is no deadline for the White House to meet in completing its review of the OSC findings that Doan violated the law that limits political activity in federal agencies.

More on Lurita Doan here and here.

I’d say they have until January 20, 2009, since Congress is not going to impeach anybody, no matter how serious the crime.

And anyway what will the Dems do about it. Write a letter. Of course they will sit on it and let it die. Who cares? The Press? The citizens? Doan will sit with all the other criminals and continue to make decisions.

Well, Shi-ite!!! There are no openings at the SCOTUS, or the World Bank… what is Bruschâ„¢ suppoed to od? Just kick poor Lurita to the curb and let her turn State’s Evidence?

So, what the White House is saying, folks, is that even if it is absolutely clear that you violated the law, it does not constitute grounds for firing you. Am I the only one who thinks this is the wrong way to act for people who are supposed to be acting in the public interest? Why is keeping her on more important than demonstrating to the American people that we are a nation of laws and that no one is above it?

So now Bush is saying he’s exempt from his own pres. order since Cheney was saying that. They are exempt from security oversight, now? WTF?

    Comment by Bob

Well Bob, it works like this, see?

The Bootlick Congress gives Bruschâ„¢ a blank CHECK to do whatever he wants. Eventually, the CHECK book isn’t going to BALANCE, so the SCOTUS will decide it’s the poor’s fault, because they’re poor.

And there you have it, Bob. Your blank CHECKS and lack of BALANCES explained for you. Another lesson in civics brought to you by your friends at The Republic of Stupidityâ„¢!

And don’t forget, here at the Republicâ„¢, we always give door prizes!!!

They proved unworthy of that a long time ago, but it still amazes me. Considering the ‘base’ they pander to, it makes it so creepy.

Don’t forget the Fourth Branch. The Vice-President’s Office.

Right, the VP Branch: All the privilage of the Executive Branch without the oversight of the Legislative Branch and outside the juridiction of the Judicial Branch.

    Now I’ze really confused.
The Executive branch and it’s non attached Vice Imperial branch are not subject to the rules that govern the Executive branch and it’s subsidiaries. So they’re actually the Exemptative branches?

    the Exemptative branches

    Great stuff.

Are these guys reading from the same Constitution? Is this the one that was ratified in 1781? (was it?) It’s got a few Amendments in front and a few in back, a couple or three Articles (what’s the first one?)… every few years, another amendment goes in….My version was written in English by sane, compassionate, thinking people….

They have to protect the small fish, because if one of them gets nailed, they will blab everything they know about the big fish.

Going after the small fish is a standard tactic for bringing down mafia bosses, and one that Patrick Fitzgerald put to good use in many cases he fought in Chicago, and ultimately with the Scooter Libby case. The big fish are generally too well protected.

    Gallup has a Repuke bias.

Their lowball number for Congress is phony baloney.

It is not valid because it doesn’t accurately represent a yes-no vote.

Current poll numbers for Congress are in the 20s now.

    pollingreport.com

These low numbers are because Congress did not stop the Iraq occupation and took impeachment off the table.

We are in deep shit when two branches of government are polling in the twenties.

Why do I feel like the shit is about to hit the fan?

One of Lurita’s deputies retired today.

He gave a speech where he thanked all the prosecutors who took demotions so they wouldn’t have to work directly for Lurita anymore.

    He was applauded for that.

Lurita Doan is another Chimpy Crony replacement US Attorney.

She has no credibility and should step down.

    Comment by Tom3 — June 23, 2007 @ 1:48 am

    Because, it is:

Yesterday was the summer solstice, the day of greatest light. For the next 6 months, darkness will grow, both in the amount of night time, and upon the face of the land.

Those who walk in darkness will grow in power, and a great shadow will reach across the earth; may they achieve all they set out to do.

The mutual annihilation of those who harbor hate is about to unfold, exponentially.

  35. FOX News says:

Democrats and Republicans Both Adept at Ignoring Facts. Conclusion? Be independent:

Democrats and Republicans alike are adept at making decisions without letting the facts get in the way, a new study shows.

And they get quite a rush from ignoring information that’s contrary to their point of view.

Researchers asked staunch party members from both sides to evaluate information that threatened their preferred candidate prior to the 2004 Presidential election. The subjects’ brains were monitored while they pondered.

“We did not see any increased activation of the parts of the brain normally engaged during reasoning,” said Drew Westen, director of clinical psychology at Emory University. “What we saw instead was a network of emotion circuits lighting up, including circuits hypothesized to be involved in regulating emotion, and circuits known to be involved in resolving conflicts.”

    Bias on both sides

The test subjects on both sides of the political aisle reached totally biased conclusions by ignoring information that could not rationally be discounted, Westen and his colleagues say.

Then, with their minds made up, brain activity ceased in the areas that deal with negative emotions such as disgust. But activity spiked in the circuits involved in reward, a response similar to what addicts experience when they get a fix, Westen explained.

The study points to a total lack of reason in political decision-making.

“None of the circuits involved in conscious reasoning were particularly engaged,” Westen said. “Essentially, it appears as if partisans twirl the cognitive kaleidoscope until they get the conclusions they want, and then they get massively reinforced for it, with the elimination of negative emotional states and activation of positive ones.”

Notably absent were any increases in activation of the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex, the part of the brain most associated with reasoning.

The brain imaging revealed a consistent pattern. Both Republicans and Democrats consistently denied obvious contradictions for their own candidate or party but detected contradictions in the opposing candidate.

  36. W. Clements says:

Get over it. They’ll be reviewing that report until Bush’s very last day. And nobody gonna be able to do sh*t about it. Look at all the opposition out there to Gonzales and he ain’t goin’ nowhere. Lurita ain’t no big deal.

  37. Tom3 says:

If its summer solstice, does that mean I get to drink a shitload of beer get naked and dance on my porch where the neighbors can see?

    Whoohoo!! Let the games…begin!

  38. Tom3 says:

Sounds like the Republican Party Convention.

  39. Tom3 says:

If this was still a democracy, all these thugs would be gone by now.

Chimpy and Cheney would both be impeached and removed from office.

But party has conquered country and these Repuke traitors will not be happy until they have us all under the thumb of martial law.

  40. Tom3 says:

Lurita DONE blatantly violates federal law and the repuke troll says “get over it”. No. Ignoring federal felonies is not right.

That bitch belongs in handcuffs and an orange jumpsuit.

    Let justice prevail.

  43. Daniel says:

Okay – and finally – on what I hope is a bit of a low volume post. I’m switching my name to ‘Gramby’ from here forward. Although ‘Daniel’ isn’t common, it doesn’t mean it’s unique. Had someone else posting using the same name on the “neo-con, you f*ck sh*t p*ssy you’re a c*ck sucker” Fair Doctrine thread earlier. [apologies to Splooge Toy].

  44. Jane E. Schneider says:

Daniel, it seems that pretty much everyone on the (now) 4300+ thread from 6/20 got their names hijacked, both liberals and conservatives. I contacted TP to ask them to delete the comments that weren’t mine, but, after checking just now, they don’t seem to have done anything about it. Amazingly, people are STILL commenting there.

Are you really switching to “Gramby?”

  45. HeartlandLiberal says:

Of course there is a deadline. It is January of 2009, and that is what the Bush/Cheney criminal enterprise is intent on running out. That is ALL they care about now. How to run out the clock without being impeached, removed from office, and thrown in a gray cell at the Hague, being tried for war crimes. All of which is what the American people SHOULD be providing them with, asap.

  46. barrelhse says:

Talking on the net doesn’t seem to be very effective. I’d like to see the people hit the streets with massive demonstrations that the dick-lickers in the WH can’t ignore.
While we’re talking, can’t we organize? I just can’t see bitching until 2009 as being a remedy.

  47. katie says:

“Why is keeping her on more important than demonstrating to the American people that we are a nation of laws and that no one is above it?”

Because if they fire her, she has nothing to lose by turning States Witness and revealing things much worse than what she was fired for.

Also, if the fire her, they will be setting a precedent. And then they will have no excuse for not firing other members of the Bush Crime Family who have committed crimes, like say, Karl Rove.

  48. JC says:

If she violated federal law, why isn’t she being indicted? What difference does a review by the president make? Is it because the DOJ is the one that has to arrest and indict her and since they are all good Bushies, they are going to wait for him to tell them what to do?

  49. veritas says:

They’d better start canning them all then because Ms. Groan-Doan is just the tip of a huge corrupt iceberg. Every head of every department needs to be scrutinized because they’re all brainwashed Bushitcos.

  50. The Oracle says:

There are three HEADS to our federal government (per the order found in our Constitution): the legislative, the executive and the judiciary.

Since Dick Cheney believes he, as Vice President, is no longer part of the HEADS of our government…does that mean he’s the A**Hole??? Can Cheney be declared an “enema” combatant, and be “flushed” out of his current, undisclosed hiding place, so he can enter the sewage system and receive some much needed “treatment”???

(I thought something smelled about Dick Cheney. Ewwwww.)

  51. Jane E. Schneider says:

    treatment”???

(I thought something smelled about Dick Cheney. Ewwwww.)

Heh, funny…you should have been on the “Former FISA” thread with us. :D
