The Washington Post’s four-part series on the influence and power of Dick Cheney reveal the tactics of a stealthy operator who prizes secrecy, kneecaps opponents, stifles dissent, and dogmatically pursues a rigid hard-right agenda.
Cheney has argued that his quest for war in Iraq, pursuit of torture, denial of due process to detainees, and advocacy for illegal wiretaps were all precipitated by the events of 9/11:
CHENEY: In a sense, 9/11 changed everything for us. 9/11 forced us to think in new ways about threats to the United States, about our vulnerabilities, about who our enemies were, about what kind of military strategy we needed in order to defend ourselves. [12/23/03]

This morning on Washington Post radio, Barton Gellman — the co-author of the Cheney series — argued that based on his research of Cheney, he found “no evidence” that “9/11 exerted a profound psychological change on the Vice President.” Instead, Gellman argued, “[Cheney] has not changed his views very much over the years. What has changed is he has a greater opportunity to put them into action.” Listen to the interview:

GELLMAN: It’s been often speculated that 9/11 exerted a profound psychological change on the Vice President. But we did not find evidence that that’s true.
There’s a moment in the story in which we’ve got witnesses who are watching him watch the World Trade Center collapse. Everyone else in the room is groaning. And he doesn’t blink his eyes. He turns around and starts working the phones again.
And what he’s doing is he’s finding that 9/11 confirms some long-held beliefs of his. And it gives him the opportunity to press through some long-desired changes. He has not changed his views very much over the years. What has changed is he has a greater opportunity to put them into action.

The next items on this agenda include the radio “brainchipping” of humanity precipitated through the use of intentionally created global warming, which is in fact being induced through the deliberate spraying of toxic heavy metal particulate into our atmosphere as chemtrails. Electrical energetic activation of this toxic atmospheric soup with HAARP technology in order to cause disasterous weather anomalys is a preamble to declaring man himself the “ostensible” “cause” of global warming and for this maliciously generated “excuse” an “enemy combatant”, hence the blanket declaration of all resistant parties in Iraq as “Al Qaeda”. Call it the weaponization of everything because that’s what it is.
Now that the amorphous “terrorist” designation has been sufficiently established via media hysterics as “legitmate” in the minds of most through the production of synthetic terror itself, the real purpose of the globalist agenda: that of declaring Man himself “the enemy” is in the minds of this cabal “achievable”. The agenda is to generate a pretext for direct globalist control over everyone and everything; the “new world order”, based on the deliberately cooked-up premise that such abhorent authority is somehow both legitimate and “necessary” in order to “curtail” the global warming which the globalists themselves, like everything else, not only actually cause but heinously “profit” from by maintaining a lock on all fossil energy profits and through the supression of thousands of clean, cheap, independent and in many cases entirely free energy sources which have actually existed for millennia.

The only actually legitimate course of action for America and Americans is the immediate Impeachment of both Cheney and Bush followed by turning them over to international authority along with all of their rogue regime for prosecution at the Hague on charges of intentional crimes against Humanity. Rice’s new excuses for going along to get along, like Powell’s; that she was livid at Gonzales yet avoided confrontation with “higher-ups”, is indicative of kabuki media attempts we should expect to see more of as these facts become widely understood, since no rat can be expected to wish to be last on the tremulous deck of a rotted pirate ship.

As Gellman points out, many of the most controversial elements of Cheney’s foreign policy were opportunistically justified as adapting to the “post 9/11 world.”
Take the doctrine of pre-emptive attack, for example. While spun as a new tool in the “war on terror,” it actually dates back to National Security Decision Directive (NSDD) 138, ordered in 1984 by Reagan. NSDD approved both pre-emptive attacks against “terrorists,” i.e. anyone designated as such by Secretary of State George Schultz, and retaliatory strikes, even if it was a high probability that innocent civilians would also be hit in the strike. (That pre-emptive strikes are illegal under international law, was of no consequence.)
At the time, CIA Director William Colby wrote a New York times Op Ed piece justifying the policy by explaining that terrorism, “is a tactic of indiscriminate violence used against innocent bystanders for political effect - and it must be distinguished from the selective use of violence against the symbols and institutions of a contested power, which is unfortunately a norm of international life.”
Of course, Regan’s “freedom fighters” the Contras went on to terroize the civilian populations of Nicaragua and El Salvador for the remainder of the decade, but when you make the rules, you decide who the “terrorists” are.

He’s used it to justify taking away freedoms from Americans that we should never surrender without a fight. He’s used it to justify the invasion of a country that had nothing to do with the hijackings (in fact, most of the hijackers were Saudi Arabians). He’s used it to manipulate the media. He’s used it to consolidate political power in his pocket wherever he can.
But the 9/11 credit card has been used to the point of exhaustion by others besides Cheney. “9/11″ was essentially the theme of the Republican National Convention in 2004 — omnipresent as a banner or a projected slide practically anywhere a camera could be pointed. And now it is essentially the entire candidacy of Rudy Giuliani, who’s running to be fearmonger-in-chief. Conservatives are even using it as justification against the Immigration Bill — even though all the highjackers were in the U.S. legally on September 11, 2001.
This article points out the obvious to those of us who could see through the neocon agenda of Cheney’s all along, but won’t make much difference to those who have been sucked into the illusion beyond the ability to reason. Sigh.

WRONG! The acceleration in this case is the negative acceleartion to 0 upon impacting the ground. With out knowing how far into the ground it will penetrate you have no idea how long it will take to stop, so you don’t have acceleration at all. All you can account for is velocity when it reaches the ground, assuming it doesn’t hit terminal velocity in that time frame, which is dependent upon the shape of the block(which would also effect stopping time), which you also didn’t account for.

He even NODS in acknowledgement, like he knew. It’s not that hard to read a persons face, and Bush clearly was not at all surprised nor did he seem like he wanted to “do anything about it”.

While you’re doing your research, please check out Joe Conason’s book, It Can Happen Here, which outlines the overall strategy of the neocons coming into power in 2001. It’s obvious that the Patriot Act was written well in advance of 9/11 (probably well in advance of the 2000 election), but the plan didn’t require the neocons to blow up the World Trade Center, only to take advantage of the opportunity when it occurred.
9/11 was dramatic and traumatic enough that it made the bill’s acceptance a “slam dunk” (hmmm) but any number of other opportunities would have arisen and allowed the neocons to start running their campaign of paranoia.
Vincent Bugliosi (who prosecuted the Manson Family) has just published a 1600+ page book which thoroughly debunks the notion that anyone but Lee Harvey Oswald murdered JFK. The 75% of Americans who believe in a conspiracy and coverup will probably never read the book and will never believe the conclusions. I don’t see much difference with the 9/11 conspiracy theorists, except you’ll never reach 75% of the population.

My gut feeling (which is just a feeling until I have more evidence) is that 911 was not planned by Bush, but “permitted” by Bush.
I’ve always felt they looked the other way on repeated occasions because they wanted the attack to occur, so that they could do their dirties. And there is ample evidence to support this notion, including the fact that they did indeed ignore all warnings, and punished people who tried to speak up by reassigning them.
One things for sure. It STINKS to high heaven.
And nobody’s gonna tell me to just forget about it because THEY know nothing happened.

What I’ve seen to date has involved serious disagreements over engineering issues that I, for one, am not qualified to judge. Much as I do with the question of global warming, I rely on what appears to be the preponderance of opinion among objective observers who appear to be highly qualified; I am less skeptical of climatologists than I am of people who confuse “climate” with their daily weather.
I’m also a big fan of Occam’s Razor and I watched those planes crash into the WTC on television and I’ve read the eyewitness accounts from people who saw it in person. And I have a very difficult time believing that someone has heavily tied into the corporate elite as Dick Cheney would countenance an attack that so heavily damaged the US economy. Destroy our rights? Hell yes. Destroy Wall Street’s ability to make money? No way in hell.

This may jar you, but 9/11 was nearly six years ago. You cannot deny (although you probably will) the damage done in 2001/2002.

Actually this would NOT be science. It is politics. Peer reviewed journals only protect the status quo, they do not advance science. Only when the evidence is so overwhelming that it cannot be denied will the “Peer Reviewed” subject then be accepted.

With their foreknowledge, they were able to profit handsomely by shorting certain stocks in advance of 9/11 while going long security and defense stocks.
I understand precisely what the markets did when they opened after 9/11.

He is correct about this Veritas. To the best of my knowledge I think Bush was at Yale during the Kennedy administration.

Thats an interesting point you bring up. I work in a technology related field, and for years we all wondered why US Government computer systems relied almost exclusively on a Firewall product called “Checkpoint Firewall”.
Checkpoint is a product made by the Israeli government.
