Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), who in 2004 called the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth advertisements “dishonest and dishonorable,” will hold a fundraiser tomorrow hosted by former Swift Boater Paul Galanti. Galanti never served with Sen. John Kerry (D-MA), but surfaced in 2004 to call Kerry a “traitor,” and appear in television commercials with “those who stooped to questioning the seriousness of Kerry’s war wounds.”
McCain is senile, so he has no idea what he is doing anymore.
June 25th, 2007 at 5:07 pmWhat a pity — even though I haven’t always agreed with McCain on issues, I used to think he was a man of principle. Now he’s just like all the rest — selling his soul to win.
June 25th, 2007 at 5:25 pmWell, John, you have just hammered the last nail in your Campaign and now you can go back to just being a terrible senator.
June 25th, 2007 at 5:25 pmUntil today, I tried very hard to maintain respect for McCain as a former POW and for having served this country. This action on his part has just wiped out the remaining respect I DID have for him. How can anyone live with their conscience when they sell their soul to the devil?
June 25th, 2007 at 5:31 pm#2. I used to like him a lot, too. In fact, 4 years ago I probably would have voted for him over Hillary (I know…that’s a no no here, but I REALLY don’t care for Hillary – she’s a phony).
That said, he’s totally lost his mind, and lost my respect based on his alignment with Bush on Iraq.
June 25th, 2007 at 5:49 pmSenator McCain will dishonor all Swift boat veterans who served in Vietnam if he goes ahead with this fundraiser. It is ironic that he approached the Kerry campaign to be Kerry’s running mate in 2004. Unlike Sen. Kerry, McCain is a classic flip flopper who will blow the way the political winds take him. Sen. Kerry served honorably in Vietnam no matter what the swift boat veterans say. Their statements were politically motivated, and were categorically false and misleading.
The Department of Navy disagreed with them and stood by their decision to reward the medals and honors given to Sen. Kerry. Sen. Kerry is an American hero who served his country on the battlefield with honor and dignity. As a fellow veteran Sen. McCain should know better than to do this. With his misleading and false statements on the Iraq war and the surge he has proven that he is an unreliable leader who truly doesn’t understand leadership and foreign policy issues especially those dealing with the Iraq war.
June 25th, 2007 at 6:21 pmMcCain USED to care about America.
Now, he is just another BushCrimeCo, Inc. azzhole-licker.
And a TRAITOR to the USA, just like the rest of them.
June 25th, 2007 at 6:21 pmPaul Galanti,if it’s the right person, was a POW for 7 years in Hanoi, and retired as a Commander.
June 25th, 2007 at 6:33 pmWonder why he only made it to Commander? Any military folks out there, can you help me out, on why he would retire as a Cmdr, and not a Captain, or higher?
It takes quite a while to make it to Commander and most Captains in the Navy have to have a sea-command under their belt before they can make that particular grade (diff for SEALS and JAG). Also, he may have some reserve time in there, you make grade at a slower pace in the reserves and must serve longer before being able to retire.
Or it could be that he just decided not to take a higher command and sweated it out at the lower grade. Some officers dont want a sea-command with all that it entails.
June 25th, 2007 at 6:42 pmMcCain is insane.
June 25th, 2007 at 7:26 pmWay to go “Wrong way McCain”. You have stooped to a new low. Apparently kissing up the Dubya wasn’t enough, now you have to kiss these idiots butt. I sure hope you have a very good tooth paste and mouth wash after you are done. This move is about as stupid as kissing up the a guy with a 29 percent approval rating. I thought you’d be smart enough to know who to kiss and who to snob.
June 25th, 2007 at 8:28 pmMany people still do not grasp how insidious the the smear campaign against Sen. John Kerry really was in 2004.
Galanti, and his fellow Swift Boat slander crew, not only smeared Kerry’s war record, but also the war records of anyone who’s ever served in the U.S. military.
Think medals…and how they are awarded.
Three weeks before the November 2004 presidential election, the U.S. Navy Department released a statement emphatically stating that no only did they stand behind the medals for valor awarded Lt. John Kerry, but also behind any medal they’d ever awarded any sailor for valor.
In other words, in attacking Kerry’s medals, the Swift Boat slander crew also attacked the credibility of the U.S. Navy Department (as well as all Pentagon service branches) in regards to how medals are awarded.
This means that Galanti and his fellow Swift Boat slander crew, in attacking Kerry’s medals, also attacked their own medals that they may have been awarded, because if the Navy Department couldn’t be trusted in Kerry’s case, then why would their medals, awarded around the same time, not also be questionable? Especially if the Navy’s SOP is screwing up the awarding of medals?
And what about the Army? The Marines? The Air Force? Is there medal awarding process as screwed up as the Navy’s, as implied by the Swift Boat slander crew’s allegations against Kerry? What about my medals received while I served in the U.S. Air Force?
So, how should Sen. John Kerry respond to this slander?
By standing up for the issuance of medals to all of our nation’s military service personnel, going all the way back to the founding of our republic.
So, did you serve in the U.S. military? Then the Swift Boat crew, along with Galanti, spit on your medals, just like they did on mine, just as they did on John Kerry’s.
June 25th, 2007 at 8:35 pmI heard a rumor that McCain will drop out of the race soon.
June 25th, 2007 at 8:39 pmHis association with any of the swift boat liars is just another example of his senility, or his disloyalty, and his ability to compromise his own ethics and standards for a cheap political purpose.
McCain has already demonstrated many times that he is for sale, as is his wife and child; he has embraced the man who spread vicious rumors about him and never apologized or admitted the lies. (Bush)
McCain has no credibility regarding Iraq.
McCain has no integrity.
McCain may now be the least principled of all of the candidates from either party, and that is no small feat.
June 25th, 2007 at 8:43 pm4 years ago, I thought that while I disagreed with McCain but he was an honorable man.
After seeing him whore with all these groups who represent the lowest of the low in politics, I don’t see where he exercises any principles at all.
June 25th, 2007 at 10:35 pmThe Republicans are crazy to even run anyone in 2008. They’re gonna get SO SLAUGHTERED.
June 26th, 2007 at 6:58 amMaybe we should list all the people Hillary has taken money from for her campaign.
June 26th, 2007 at 11:08 am#10 – McCain is insane.
