“Suicide bombers struck a central Baghdad hotel and four other targets across Iraq on Monday, in a surge of attacks that left at least 27 people dead, authorities reported.”

Of the casualties listed in the article referenced, 2 were US troops. All of the others were Iraqi police and civilians.

Everything I have read, indicates that Iraq will regardless of US military presence, be imbroiled in a civil war, for anywhere between 10-15 years. As for the border issue, I think with an extra 150,000 troops, we have a better chance to watch our borders, then we do now.

A lot of the violence in Iraq against civilians, I believe, is sectarian. A lot of it aimed at Iraqi and US forces is being focused on by insurgents. If we (US troops) detect a VBIED, do you think we should care who it’s meant for? “Excuse me! Where is this bomb destined to be used? Oh, the Sunni mosque? Carry on.”

Do you know the difference between “unleashed” and “caused”? Apparently not. The sectarian tensions were here long before we crossed the border. But by taking out Saddam, we opened a power vaccuum that UNLEASHED the sectarian violence. Understand the difference?
