Q: Do you think that if we were to leave tomorrow that Iraqi police and civilians would suddenly cease to be attacked?
Of the casualties listed in the article referenced, 2 were US troops. All of the others were Iraqi police and civilians.
#3 This one’s for Bush! — Yep, it’s all his fault! But then again, I imagine you hold him at fault for all that’s wrong in the world.
#6 we’re getting them all killed over there, so we won’t have to get them all killed over here! — Well, I suppose if we would just open our border and allow them free passage into the US we could resolve the issue of where ‘we’re getting them all killed’.
Everything I have read, indicates that Iraq will regardless of US military presence, be imbroiled in a civil war, for anywhere between 10-15 years. As for the border issue, I think with an extra 150,000 troops, we have a better chance to watch our borders, then we do now.
Hey spit,
I didn’t respond previously to #5 because I felt it was not relevent to the topic. But if it’ll make your day……
This means we’re winning! — How so? Please explain, mr. robotroll, how iraqi’s killing other iraqi’s has anything at all to do with whether we’re ‘winning’ or not.
Anyone who advocates for withdrawal of troops want the terrorists to win.—- Not necessarily, but if you’re arguments are in line with those who support the terrorists, you might want to check your motivations. “The enemy of my enemy is my friend” If you’re ‘enemy’ is Bush and his administration you share a lot more in common with major terror networks than you may think.
The insurgents is in its last throes, if you will. (correction – “insurgents†no longer apporved nomeclature — repalce with “Al Qaedaâ€) — Al Quaeda..insurgents…iraqi militants….ex-Baathist’s…..I got so tired of hearing the names change every 2 weeks, I just referred to whomever we were fighting as ‘the bad guys’. It was ‘us’ and ‘them’. Oh,and people make mistakes. You jump on every one of them, too. OK, so it makes it on the air as a snippet and that makes it gospel truth? Picking and choosing what you hear on the radio or television and then parading it around as a Republican talking point is in poor form, bro. Ok, so Cheney said it…why not make mention that he was almost immediately disagreed with by Rummy? Or that he played the Clinton game of “depends on what the definition of ‘last throes (is) is’. I mean that part was just funnnnyyy!
“Mr. Cheney refused to alter his original comments, saying it all depends what “last throes” means, and that it could mean a long, not short, violent period.” — LMAO, sorry, but he’s saying ‘last throes’ could mean a long, not short period…..that’s kinda sounding like back-pedalling to me. Yet you continue to blog the comment over and over ad nauseum and insist that it’s valid.
#12 – do you think that our troops should bear the responsibility of keeping Iraqis from being attacked by their own people? — Do they now? A lot of the violence in Iraq against civilians, I believe, is sectarian. A lot of it aimed at Iraqi and US forces is being focused on by insurgents. If we (US troops) detect a VBIED, do you think we should care who it’s meant for? “Excuse me! Where is this bomb destined to be used? Oh, the Sunni mosque? Carry on.”
Granted, we were the ones responsible for unleashing this sectarian violence… is THAT your justification? — We caused the sectarian violence? I suppose in a twisted mentality that might ring true. You’re absolutely right, under Saddam the violence was very much one-sided. If by levelling the field, we’re responsible…I can live with that.
Why have ‘Mericuns bought this boat-load of sh*t from the Bush junta? If anything the Saudi’s are more responsible for 9/11 than Iraq. I mean the hijackers were Saudi. Ahhh but the Bin ladens and the Bushes are friends. I digress.
The right is sooo obsessed with keeping power they will beleive bull when it suits their purpose rather than face the truth. Just wait until Cheney an dBush start with Iran, is anyon eworried about these fools.
I just heard Sen. Inhoof R.-OK on Bill O’Liely. That guy is the poster child for inbread partisanship. Too bad OK lost Keith Smith and Lucille Vanzant. ( Dem activist.) They need a wake up call

Comment by SGT Higgins — June 25, 2007 @ 1:44 pm
Do you know the difference between “unleashed” and “caused”? Apparently not. The sectarian tensions were here long before we crossed the border. But by taking out Saddam, we opened a power vaccuum that UNLEASHED the sectarian violence. Understand the difference?
As for the rest of your response, I can’t make heads or tails of it, especially in the context of your first rhetorical question:
“Q: Do you think that if we were to leave tomorrow that Iraqi police and civilians would suddenly cease to be attacked?“

Really? Then why does the left accuse our soldiers of being like the Nazis? Why does the left accuse them of terrorizing women and children in the middle of the night? Why does the left persist in wanting to release staged photos from Abu Grhaib? Why does the left reveal our secret prisons? Why does the left lie about our soldiers flushing the koran down the toilet? Why does the left forge documents about a sitting president? The left doesn’t give a damn about our troops!
1) name the figures of the “left” who “accuse our soldiers of being like the Nazis?”
2) the accusations of “terrorizing women and children in the middle of the night” come from the news media, reporting from the field. They are not made up of whole cloth by “the left”. A better question is why does “the right” ignore those stories?
3) Because we think the truth has value and that decisions are better made when people know the truth. You obviously disagree.
4) Again, you appear to confuse “the left” with “the corporate news media”. The truth is value-neutral. It just is. Reporting the truth should be considered a positive thing. And we should be the kind of nation that doesn’t HAVE secret prisons.
5) That is “the right” that lies about “the left” lying about flushing the Koran down toilets.
6) How does this “forge documents about a sitting president” have anything to do with your contention that “the left doesn’t give a damn about our troops”? The “forged documents” of which you speak were actually forged by “the right” in order to defuse the explosive Truth that the documents revealed. Those documents allowed “the right” to focus on the forgery and not whether or not the information was accurate (it was).
Overall, really weak effort, michael. Fairly easy to break down into its lame components, and not even very effective as a distraction. Better study your troll class tutorials again.

Interesting that michael and “SGT Higgins” had almost identical responses to my questions (both wrong, by the way) about Dick Durbin (who recognized his badly worded statement and apologized, which would seem to take the steam out of the original accusation that “the left comapres US soldiers to Nazis”) and John Kerry who I rpesume made teh remarks in question during a different war, one of which he had intimate knowledge, having served in combat.
The rest of their answers are fairly similar too — “Truth is bad in wartime”, for instance, except for the last question, which michael dodges and SGT higgins both dodges and attacks rather hysterically. Neither of them address the underlying truth of the information presented…
I wonder if this means that they are the same poster adopting different identities, or if they are just two products of the same misinformation factory…

SGT Higgins? — Yes?
Like you have actually served? — Still do.
What do you do to “support the troopsâ€? —- I am one
Shop? — Sometimes, but how does that support the troops?
Put a ribbon magnet on your car? — Mine’s for cerebral palsy awareness….want one?
You’re pathetic. — Wha??? I thought neocons were the name callers. Well you go right ahead and ‘Support the Troops’ with your keyboard. You make my heart swell w/ pride. =)
“Support The Troops†means support the war Republican neocon politics. It has nothing to do with troops. —so then you DON’T support the troops……at least you’re fuckin’ honest…unlike any of your Komrades.
Got news for ya Sarge, 75% of this country disagrees with you that it’s somehow unpatriotic to criticize and be anti-war. —– Prove your number. Hell, even I know if I post here, I better back it up.

June 25th, 2007 at 4:25 pmMichael, you’re an idiot. Goodbye!

You’re right, but you’re letting him off way too easy. :D
June 25th, 2007 at 4:40 pmInteresting that michael and “SGT Higgins” had almost identical responses to my questions (both wrong, by the way) about Dick Durbin (who recognized his badly worded statement and apologized, which would seem to take the steam out of the original accusation that “the left comapres US soldiers to Nazis”) and John Kerry who I rpesume made teh remarks in question during a different war, one of which he had intimate knowledge, having served in combat.

June 25th, 2007 at 4:46 pmThe surge in deaths is successful anyways.

Are you saying Durbin didn’t say this? Kerry was NOT referring to Vietnam, he made this comment about a year ago referring to our troops in Iraq!
June 25th, 2007 at 4:48 pmI have clearly outstupided you. Victory is mine!
June 25th, 2007 at 4:54 pmThere is nothing to respond to. Fight fire with fire. Nonsense with nonsense.
June 25th, 2007 at 4:55 pm# 39 – about Dick Durbin (who recognized his badly worded statement and apologized, — He didn’t apologize for maligning Soldiers, but for victims of the Holocaust.
John Kerry who I rpesume made teh remarks in question during a different war, one of which he had intimate knowledge, having served in combat — Wrong! RE: #35-2 for his quote. He’s not referencing Vnam, let him dodge on his own, you don’t need to do it for him.
“Truth is bad in wartime†— Of course it isn’t….spinning but good, aren’t you? But AIRING the ‘truth’ of our troop locations and plans on television IS bad. Our enemies have Comcast too.
Neither of them address the underlying truth of the information presented —- Just prove the truth, you ding-bat! Hell I can throw a number out there, too. For example…85% of all liberal bloggers are either in college, living at home, unemployed or all of the above. (I suspect that that’s true, but w/o being able to SHOW MY WORK, it doesn’t really fly.

Claiming victory is easy, displaying it is the challenge which you clearly are not capable of. By the way, are you related to zooey? She claims victory all the time without backing it up.
June 25th, 2007 at 5:03 pmI am most certainly claiming victory without backing it up – MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!!
