Vote to defund Cheney’s office to be held this week.

Reacting to the Office of the Vice President’s assertion that it is not an “entity within the executive branch,” Rep. Rahm Emanuel (D-IL) announced that he will introduce an amendment to cut off funding to Cheney’s office. Emanuel discussed the legislation on MSNBC tonight:

[Cheney] is acting like he’s unaccountable to anybody…and he’s taking an unbelievable step saying he’s not a member of the executive branch, he’s a member of the legislative branch, therefore he doesn’t have to provide information. … So I said, If that’s your logic, then we shouldn’t be funding you through the executive branch. Either Wednesday or Thursday my amendment will be on the floor, because the funding for the executive branch is on the floor. And I’ll strike the money for the Vice President’s Office. He can live off the Senate presidency budget that funds him up here. And that’s fine. But if he’s going to be funded in the executive branch, he complies with the rules that apply to everybody. He is not above the rules of the executive branch.

this isn’t a joke. Dick Cheney has effectively overthrown our government and become a government unto himself. He has set policies, determined laws, caused people to be tortured, outed CIA agents and declared himself above and beyond our laws.

This is no laughing matter. THIS IS A CONSTITUTIONAL CRISIS.

  20. MsJoanne says:

And this was from a Chaney spokeswoman:

A few media outlest picked up on Rahm Emanuel’s idea of defunding Dick Chaney’s office as part of the executive-branch appropriations. “The vice president needs to make a decision,” Emanuel said. Lea Anne McBride, a Chaney spokesperson, said Emanuel “can either deal with the serious issues facing our country or create more partisian politics.”

Cheney would love to see his paycheck cut…
He will have a list of lobbyists who are willing to foot the bill for him and give him a nice place to stay; and with Rahm resolution,Cheney will have a nice ‘excuse’…

What they need to do is to enforce the laws in the books..but not to pay Cheney a ‘Government check’ will not solve anything.
Can’t Rahm think of anything better than that..?!

How long have we had a vice president creating a constitutional crisis?

That’s the worrisome thing for me about this. If you specifically remove funding from Dick within the bill funding the executive branch, aren’t you say – by virtue of pulling the funding out – that he’s not a part of the executive?

    You tell them, Spudgy!

  67. veritas says:

Now Congress can definitely go back and revisit all the instances where Cheney claimed “executive privilege” and rescind all of that…haha! Be careful what you ask for, Dickie-Do-Do.

Big deal. I’m sure that he’ll just find some way to redirect that lucrative CIA heroin money out of Afghanistan.

  69. BARTLEBEE says:

Will it work? It might. Congress has the purse, and they’re not passing a law, meaning the President can’t veto it.

And if he can’t veto it, all they need is a majority vote. Meaning the DEMS can do it.

If they don’t it will be because of a democrat, not a republican.

  70. Nance says:

Ooooh, better fantasy revenge technique, nail his balls to a tree stump and push him over backwards!

  71. veritas says:

  72. katie says:

Ok, let’s see if they really do it. They certainly should not be funding Chaney’s fancy house and all the other perks he gets if he isn’t part of the Executive branch of the government. Congress should also go back and insist that Chaney hands over the list of energy people who visited his house to plan invading Iraq to steal their oil. He got out of that one by claiming Executive privilege. Well, if you aren’t part of the Executive branch Chaney baby, you can’t have Executive Privilege!

Here’s hoping that the Democrats have grown a spine and don’t back down again.

  73. veritas says:

I’m sure you cheered the 2006 election as being the beginning of the end to the Iraq “war” too. How did that non-binding resolution thing work out?

There is an axiom in business that says: “Do not confuse efforts with results.” Yoda, in SWII, approached the concept from a slightly different angle when he said to Luke: “You either ‘do’ or ‘do not’, there is no ‘try’.”

Your applause of an announced “effort” that will not get results shows that you are ignorant to the concept of getting things done and are easily placated with grandiose promises. Shiny things always capture the attention of the intellectually challenged.

You choose to remain in that grouping willingly. That’s your choice and I respect that. But if you are waiting for applause and adulations for your choosing to be ignorant, well, you’ll be waiting a while.

That silence that you are experiencing in response to your suggestion of a general strike, that is the sound of a vacuum. The vacuum, of course, is all that is left of American honor and courage.

Don’t believe me? Just wait for the responses you receive. No one here is willing to give up a McDonalds hamburger for the lives of subhuman Iraqis.

If you want to experience more silence (and even censorship from this site as well) then make the suggestion that the AUMF be revoked by the new Democratic majority congress. Keeping in mind, of course, that such a tactic will require only a SIMPLE MAJORITY VOTE in congress and could NOT BE VETOED, ie; it would work perfectly.

    Progressive indeed.

My favorite Cheney story was from watching Spike Lee’s “When The Levee’s Broke” when the guy walks up behind the Cheney photo op and tells Cheny to “go f*ck yourself” not once, but twice. More surprising than that, to find out the guy was a physician.
It was surprising to me because my husband is a physician and he would never do anything like that, even if he was furious. He (my huband) went to NOLA and volunteered for several weeks. He was very emotional after he got back (and horribly sick with that ‘Katrina cough’. The stories he had to tell made ME cry.
Bush and Cheney showed up to put a face on the disaster and act like they cared, and acted like they actually intended to do something about the recovery. They didn’t care and still do not care.
I am surprised given the level of anger that they felt secure enough to step foot in the disaster zone – with protection or not.
    They are a disgrace.

  136. BARTLEBEE says:

Technically Bush of course can veto his own spending bill, but he can’t force the money.

If he vetos the bill, the effect is the same. Cheney doesn’t get the funds either way. All that has to happen is for the Dems to stand behind Rahm on this one. And this one is a good one, so I am hoping, no, I’m praying, that they will.

  137. Fed the Fcuk Up! says:

    #130,

The fact that you don’t know what it is only illustrates my point further.

But here’s a little tidbit for you from Feb 19, 2007:

“It’s time to say that redeployment should start in 90 days, or the Congress will revoke authorization for this war,” Clinton said a video posted on her campaign Web site.

Both the AUMF and the Iraq War Authorization of 2002 can be revoked by a simple majority vote in congress and cannot be vetoed.

But, I guess the intellegentsia here are hell-bent on non-binding resolutions because those work so fcuking well.

You know, maybe you should read some of my posts before just deciding I”m “ignorant”, for choosing to cheer on the only people even trying to stand up to the president.

You talk about getting things done, but do you really know how?

You want an “all or nothing” approach.

    Ok. Fine. So do I.

    Thats what I “want”.

But reality is we’ve got a lame duck congress who has been effectively “deballed” by the executive branch.

If you get the horse to water it doesn’t make much sense to sit back and demand he drink from a glass.

  146. Fed the Fcuk Up! says:

    #134,

The general strike would work , of course, and I’m in favor of it as well. In fact, I’ve been in favor of it for over 4 years.

But every time it is suggested it is panned as being too much of an inconvenience. (There’s that lack of honor and courage.)

Now, you are a witty sort and often have great humorous and stinging comments. But forgive me if I don’t “give it a rest”. Hundreds of thousands of people have been murdered, tortured, terrorized, and oppressed by my government and it continues unabated. My nephew is right in the middle of this sh*t and each day I wake up to the possibility that I will receive a call from my family with the news that you all find just merely inconvenient, but to me would be devastating.

I’ll give it a “rest” when this atrocity is ended. I’m sorry if my unrelenting approach offends your comfort, but your convenience is not my top priority.

  149. MsJoanne says:

And how do you revoke use of force? With a slim majority and people like Lieberman there?

Unless I am mistaken, this would require votes. Enlighten me if I am wrong.

There is a reason that little is getting done in congress. They can’t get a veto proof majority and virtually everyone is voting down party lines, whether it’s good for the country or bad.

  163. BARTLEBEE says:

Bush can veto this spending bill if he wants, but that effectively does the same thing as long as the dems remain cohesive on it. As long as the ammendment is supported, Bush won’t get a cent until he signs off on it.

So it is a showdown. Will the dems fold? Possibly. They did on the war funding bill. But rather than sit back and cry about how doomed we are, I prefer to get behind the only people with any power to do anything about this president run amuck, and the only game in town right now, is the congress.

Despite appearing pretty crazy, he did take the standard talking point that a carbon tax would be disastrous.

I think he’s the type of troll who tries to act serious but ends up promoting crazy crap. There are several troll tactics. One of them is to make TP appear to be a bunch of progressive loonies.

All the talk of a general strike is a desire to paint himself a radical. I’m not buying it. Does the phrase ‘agent provacateur’ come to mind. Either he’s a deceptive troll or he’s missing a few marbles. If I had to bet I’d say it’s the latter.

Here’s one of his great posts.

If you kill your son and entire family and then blow your brains out the combined decomposition emissions will be less than if you all drive in your hybrid from Detroit to Canada! I’m all for your general strike. I’m also all for revoking the authorization. But sitting around and waiting for someone else (especially the same politicians who have been involved in this from the get go) to doe something about this, well, I’m not for that.

Comment by Fed the Fcuk Up! — June 25, 2007 @ 10:04 pm

Yea? Congratulations. And we are all for defunding the war. But that doesn’t mean when I am going to shoot down legislation when it comes out just because some pot smoking anarachist sitting in his moms basement thinks I should.

You have to grease the wheels sometimes, and sometimes you have to support those whom you otherwise can’t stand in order to get something done. And often it won’t move on YOUR schedule. But THATS LIFE. Thats the game.

So like I said before, unless you are planning on launching a revolution and overthrowing the current government, what plan, if any, do YOU have, other than not doing anything for an hour this fall?

  186. Vincennes says:

Hey has Exley commented on Cheney being above the law? Where is he? I know he’s around considering I know him personally. He’s an idiot Republican but a good drinking partner.

  187. MsJoanne says:

Vicki, the biggest thing he loses is executive priveledge which he has been hiding behind thus far. And then there is the senate ethics committee.

I doubt it will get to that, but it’s going to be interesting to see how it plays out.

  188. Coffins draped with flags says:

The Republicans might be getting ready to give up Cheney. Their party is falling to pieces and they have 21 Senators up for re-election in 2008 and then there is a very strong possibility that they will lose the White House in 2008.

Just 574 days until Cheney is definately gone.

  189. Coffins draped with flags says:

If Cheney is not part of the Executive branch, then he will need to turn over his energy papers.

  190. MsJoanne says:

Oh god, 574 days? I can’t even begin to imagine how much damage they can inflict upon us and others in that amount of time.

    UGH

  191. Ytterbius says:

This is a great move by Emanuel.

If Cheney wants to push Congress around in order to kill it, he’s going to have to try to explain his reasoning.

How many Congresspeople are going to stand up and support Cheney’s position in any case?

Cheney’s position is literally insane. I’d love to see the defense.

  192. Fed the Fcuk Up! says:

    #173,

You may be powerless, but I am not. Do not confuse restraint with apathy.

But don’t worry, if my restraint ends it will not be reported in the comics, but it will be on the front fcuking page.

So, go ahead, continue to be cavalier and aloof about murder and death and humanitarian atrocities perpetrated by your country. It will make it easier for you, I guess, when it is brought into your house.

  193. BARTLEBEE says:

Its another showdown, and it might make a differnece. The trick is for people to get behind it. If we all called our congress men and told them either get behind Rahm ammendment or lose our vote, then we might see some action.

Cheney can’t accept private funds to run a shadow government. He might “appropriate” some funds, but that will likely land him in more trouble.

What will likely happen is Cheney will cave, which means his dirty deeds done in secret will be available for viewing at the National Archives.

    Along with his mugshot.

  194. MsJoanne says:

What I’d love to see is the GOP in congress who vote against it…it would literally be a vote against the constitution.

    Comment by Vinnie — June 25, 2007 @ 9:57 pm

Well you are a green Vinnie and greens like global taxation! I see you didn’t take my advice and so you can keep up the fight. So rather than dwelling on global warming or past resentments why not agree to resolve the problem that we can? I’m not above acting like an ass from time to time and even though I think greens are crap I suppose I went to far that day and I apologize for my comments!

Why don’t we just focus on setting a date?

  196. MsJoanne says:

Greens also like to think that the earth is going to continue to feed us. It’s the little things that green people like…like life.

  197. JPark says:

“You may be powerless, but I am not. Do not confuse restraint with apathy.”

Ok, FTFU, do something then if you are not powerless. Well?

  198. BARTLEBEE says:

I am not aloof or cavalier about any murder boy.

You’re just making stuff up now.

But feel free to post ONE post where I demonstrate any apathy whatsoever.

    You can’t.

    Because I didn’t.

    You have got nothing.

No plan. No balls and no vision.

Just a liltle boy with a big fat mouth.

  199. JPark says:

“Well you are a green Vinnie and greens like global taxation!”

Hmm, I am not a green and I have never voted for a loser like Nader…I still have never heard of global taxation. That would kinda be impossible. Are you stupid?

  200. Vicki says:

Thanks, MsJoanne (#186)! I didn’t think of that angle. Ewwww…. angle. Makes me think of “Angler.”

  201. BARTLEBEE says:

But like Jpark said, if you are not so powerless, then DO SOMETHING.

Make us all stand in awe.

Let us read about your “exploits” on the front page as you just claimed we would.

Come on Paul Revere. Lets see your big plans.

  202. Fed the Fcuk Up! says:

  203. big papa says:

but my question is this: What if Cheney says “So what?” We already know he’s got legions of rich buddies who will finance whatever he wants. Could he self-finance his office operations?

    Comment by Vicki #182

    …Congress deputizes an armed citizen’s militia…

…to invade and occupy his fat a*s…

  204. Innocent Bystander says:

So, I guess we can refer to him as POS Cheney now. I like this title a lot better.

  205. MsJoanne says:

Here’s a list of all your reps, by state. IF you haven’t contacted them, please do so.

    http://www.visi.com/juan/congress/

  206. BARTLEBEE says:

This is a good plan by Rahm Emmanuel, and while I am no fan of his, I think it behooves us to get behind it, and every other plan the democrats have to BUILD their case for impeachment.

I also think they should vote to defund the war, and to revoke the original authority for the war. And we should “continue” to write them and call them expressing that.

But as for Sam Adams here, unless he’s got the minute men suited up and ready for action, we’re stuck with the form of government we’ve created for ourselves. For better, or for worse.

  207. katy says:

way to go vinnie! … that’s the one…

Better come at me with more than a big mouth and an empty threat boy, or I’ll send you back to that trailer park you were born in with your ass protruding out the corner of your mouth.

  209. BARTLEBEE says:

    Listen up folks.

We’re graced with the presence of a revolutionist.

This guy is Patrick Henry, John Conners and V, all rolled into one.

And he’s advertising his plans for inssurection, in a blog.

    :|

Its gonna be a short war.

  210. Fed the Fcuk Up! says:

    #197,

    Your quote:

As for me, this looks like a good move. Will it go anywhere? I don’t know. But I’ll be goddamned if I’m going to sit back and shoot it down before its out of the gate.

Now, is that quote about some taxation legislation or zoning codes? No. It’s about a situation where hundreds of people are being killed DAILY.

In my book, that’s a cavalier attitude. Why don’t you make the same suggestion, that of taking a “patient” wait-and-see approach, while seeking to end the rape of your daughter?

Does that sound extreme? Well, you would have to add “pending murder” to your daughter’s predicament and then it begins to enter the realm of the situation that we are in.

So, go ahead, tell me again how I should be patient when my nephew’s well-being and very LIFE is in the balance.

    Progressive indeed.

  211. freedomrings says:

    Comment by JPark — June 25, 2007 @ 10:20 pm
Is your name Vinnie? So, clearly asking me if I’m stupid is in and of itself stupid since you know the answer is contrary to your insinuation JPark. Al Gore wants “global government” as well as Hillary. They want the carbon tax to be GLOBAL. You can look this stuff up and there are numerous YouTube clips of public statements made by these people.
I can go deeper here and talk about Tipper and here use of then Senator Gore to prosecute her war on music. Dennis Kucinich has admitted the same desire for global government and the point of commonality is global warming. What would be possible is in fact a “global government” we can look at the EU and see that in motion.
Now if we disagree on energy and global warming that would be expected. We do agree that Congress is not doing what it should, relating to the massive cries for impeachment by 88% or more of the public! Look, just bury the hatchet and let’s agree to disagree about global warming, 2nd Amendment, Immigration, energy and all of these wedge issues. We agree that there must be an impeachment (the bar was so low for Clinton), we agree there must be a repeal of all of these 9-11 laws since they are Unconstitutional and that the war must end and our military is called home.

  212. katy says:

Comment by Fred the Fcuk Up! — June 25, 2007 @ 10:32 pm

No genius. This ammendment is not about the war in Iraq.

It has to do with Cheney exempting himself from an executive order requiring the preservation of classified materials.

    :|

    Come on, just admit it.

You don’t even know what day it is, do you?

  214. freedomrings says:

    Oh give me a break.

The fact that I am intelligent enough to know what I can, and cannot do does not make me cavalier, any more than your inability to distinguish between what you can and cannot do, makes you some sort of freedom fighter.

Nor does your quoting star wars, Luke.

  216. BARTLEBEE says:

And then we’ll immediately withdraw from the Middle East.

And then the spying on Americans will stop.

And the Whitehouse will serve ice cream every Sunday to all who stop by.

I’m attempting to turn a leaf here. I’m not going to fight with you, because I need you to pick a date and try to advert a deadly police state from entering our homes. One could imagine that if Cheney can’t be stopped by Congress then he could say or do “anything” at all. Why fight that guy save your strength for the $75.00 per barrel oil that floated into market today.

  220. BARTLEBEE says:

But in lieu of any groundbreaking wisdom from your direction, all we have is the democracy we have built. And we’ll sink or swim on the strength of that democracy, and our ability to leverage the division of powers as intended by its framers.

If you have some other plan, we’re all ears, but until then you’re just waving around a limp light sabre.

  221. BARTLEBEE says:

So why bother then? You and FTFU can do more together than apart. Your cross posting does not help to get a July date for a General Strike. You want to wait till October or November? I’m not going to wait. I have talked to neighbors and friends and pending a date I can count on 23 people (self included). Can we count on you?

Comment by Fed the Fcuk Up! — June 25, 2007 @ 8:37 pm

Now a litte life lesson for you Threepio.

Star Wars, was a movie. In a movie, that kind of talk goes.

But in real life, everything we have ever done as the human race has been through growth from failure. It is by our failures that we learn, and get that much closer to success.

Thomas Edison failed thousands of times before creating the first incandescent light bulb, and he said that it was the failures that led to the success.

Babe Ruth hit more home runs than anyone in history at the time. When asked how he did it, he pointed out he also struck out more times than anyone to date. The reason he hit more out of the park, was because he swung more than anyone else.

We learn math, by solving problems. Incorrect answers, lead to correct ones. And nothing in life worth doing is usually easy, or not fraught with failure.

Your absolutism reeks of Bush admin thinking, so as I said, I strongly suspect your real purpose here, is not what you would have us think.

  239. BARTLEBEE says:

    But prove me wrong Darth.

An insurgency, or insurrection, is an armed uprising, or revolt against an established civil or political authority. Persons engaging in insurgency are called insurgents, and typically engage in regular or guerrilla combat against the armed forces of the established regime, or conduct sabotage and harassment in the land in order to undermine the government’s position as leader.

A general strike that impedes the flow of government or the department of defense during a time of war IS inciting rebellion, and can be labeled insurrection. Insurrection does not just involve combat. It can involve sabotage. And sabatoge is anything that interferes or interupts the US government or military during a time of war.

Also, they do not have to ever prosecute anyone for it. Just use it as “probable cause” to put the person on a watch list, and investigate them.

  257. BARTLEBEE says:

Trust me people, these are trolls, who want to usurp the thread and get people to attack any efforts introduced by the left that might have some teeth.

Thats why they’re in here tonight, because this one has teeth.

Thats why FtFU is in here CONDEMNING it. Because it has teeth.

He wants to shoot down support for it before it gets out of the gate.

Meanwhile, if you read my posts, you’ll see I have been steadfast on supporting it in all my posts.

  258. BARTLEBEE says:

And Freedom Rings tried to tell everyone to shut up and do a strike.

    Why?

A strike for an hour certainly wouldn’t have any teeth, and would only be a symbolic gesture at best. Rahm Emmanuels idea to defund the Vice Presidency certainly carries more symbolic weight than that.

    I’ll tell you why.

Because saying you’re willing to shut down the country during a time of war, is enough for your name to go on a possible terrorist list.

    Thats why.

  259. Jake says:

By all means, please support another non-binding resolution by Rahm Emmanuel rather than anything meaningful.

  260. freedomrings says:

Hey freedomrings, we heard you the first two hundred times. Could we discuss the topic of the thread for just a few minutes?

    Comment by shane — June 25, 2007 @ 11:38 pm

Yea the topic sure! The one Jack Booted MF declares himself as SITH Lord! They guy in the video wants’ to take away his money even though the entire McCongress is out to lunch. The DF TV guy asks, “So are you going to call for IMPEACHMENT?” McCongress replies, “No that is off the table”

So what do we talk about shane? The weather was nice and global warming today. Wow those Hybrids sure save gas so you can drive as far as you want!

  261. BARTLEBEE says:

There may be an effort thats legit to do this, I saw something about it earlier, but this thing, this Freedom rings thing, is not part of it. She was trying to get ME to set a date for the strike.

Why would I be the one to set a date for a NATIONAL strike?

Because if I agreed to it, I could be investigated as a possible threat or traitor.

  262. mark says:

Hold the VP accountable. Defunding is a game. Defunding might make some people feel better however it plays passive agressive. If the VP is breaking the law then go after him. It is simple. Don’t try to match the Bush administration’s dirty tactics.

  263. BARTLEBEE says:

And gee, suddenly after exposing the trolls, instead of refuting me, they say nothing.

    And Jake is suddenly here.

    Imagine that.

  264. BARTLEBEE says:

All of this shows one thing.

They are afraid of this ammendment.

They are all in a tizzy over it.

Which is reason enough for me to give it my full and unfettered support.

  265. JPark says:

Eh, BARTLEBEE, Jake…freedomrings…it doesn’t matter. They are all half or all retarded.

  266. faith says:

Isn’t there a way to oust Rahm Emanuel? His logic is ridiculous. Simply move forward with impeachment proceedings against Mr. Cheney. Rahm’s inept spite game is a waste of time and tax dollars. If he, and the democrats do not have the backbone and integrity to move immediately for impeachment they should all be thrown out of office. Rahm’s logic strikes me as if someone shoots you through he heart that you retaliate by threatening to throw a rock at the shooter. Ridiculous.

LOL You are a pussy! If I want to stay home I can and if we all do that on the same day they will do nothing. We are all on a list numb balls! So, you are willing to live in a police state and you pander to the list takers. If there is an agent here it is YOU. You are one of the agents of FUD. You provoke a response! A provocateur named BARTLEBEE.

1st Amendment is still good the way I see it. I would have to take a day off and waste gas to go to a million man march! So, instead everyone sits home and reads a book! If we can’t do that then what democracy is there? So STFU

    See?

Another naysayer magically appears. No one seems to want to see anyone put any effort into defunding the office of vice president.

    Question, er, faith is it?

How exactly do you propose we “throw congress out” if they don’t honor your demand for an immediate move for impeachment (which we don’t have the votes for in the Senate)?

How exactly do you recommend we “throw the bums out”?

  269. BARTLEBEE says:

    Fine.

Then why don’t YOU set the date.

Why would you possibly ask me, someone you’ve never met, to set a date for the supposed 23 people you claim you have “on board”?

Why would you ask a complete stranger, to set the date for a national strike for all of you?

  273. JPark says:

No, freedomrings, you will still suck on the 25th.

  274. BARTLEBEE says:

This is not a date freedom rings.

You’re talking about organizing a national strike, and you’re asking me for what date works for me?

You’re no Norma Rae, are you?

    Troll.

  275. BARTLEBEE says:

Sorry freedom. I am not biting. You’ll have to find another sap.

This thread is about an effort by Rahm Emmanuel to leverage the power of the purse provided to congress under our constitution to reign in an executive office run amuck.

That is EXACTLY what Congress is supposed to do, and I am not being deterred by your red herring.

  276. JPark says:

BARTLEBEE, you are doing a great job.

I wanted a date that means something. I asked you so that you would STFU and contribute. Some of my wife’s friends at work and mine will or would do it is we are not alone and if there is a date. Honestly, I thought you and the other guy were married the way you were flaming. Anyway, don’t bother helping your IP address and any proxy info are all in the system already. A national strike (not of 1st responders) or whatever you want to call it is safe and legal and best of all cheap! Go on and be a little bitch if you want.

  278. JPark says:

freedomrings, August 22nd!!! Isn’t that the day you are enlisting you pussy?

  279. BARTLEBEE says:

Well I can’t tell if you’re being serious or not Jpark, and if I have derailed the thread then I’m sorry, but I tend to meet oppostion head on, and I am tired of all the naysayers coming in each time congress gets a plan, and shooting it down before its out of the gate.

I am inclined to believe these people are not really the far left wingnuts they pretend to be, but instead, clever (or not so clever) right wing trolls, planted in here to generate opposition from within the ranks for any plans congress has that might have teeth.

Anyway, good night, and good luck.

  320. Fed the Fcuk Up! says:

Sorry girls, but I had to eat dinner. Let’s see if I can respond to your lies, half-truths, and all out asinine assertions.

#237 – The actual quote was as follows:

There is an axiom in business that says: “Do not confuse efforts with results.” Yoda, in SWII, approached the concept from a slightly different angle when he said to Luke: “You either ‘do’ or ‘do not’, there is no ‘try’.”

I used the Star Wars reference to help explain the concept of the axiom, which is a complex enough one that when it is explained during your studies when pursuing an MBA it takes numerous hours to fully analyze and understand. Which is why the Yoda quote is used so often to aid in the understanding of the concept. Unfortunately both descriptions cleared your head by a number of feet.

And as far as the “life lessons” that seem so taxing for you, tell me what you have learned about the “tactics” being employed by the current Democratic leadership (Pelosi, Reid, Emanuel). How did the non-binding resolution go? How are the Gonzales hearings going? How did the effort to repeal the warrantless wiretaps go? How did the TIMETABLEs go?

Yes, the Babe struck out a lot. But he did hit the ball frequently. The horses that you are chaining your wagons to have not even come close enough to register a foul tip. So I guess that the lesson that you’ve learned from life is – stick with the losers because one day, statistically, they have to win something.

Good lesson. Hope that works for you.

    #238,

    From my comment #127:

If you want to experience more silence (and even censorship from this site as well) then make the suggestion that the AUMF be revoked by the new Democratic majority congress. Keeping in mind, of course, that such a tactic will require only a SIMPLE MAJORITY VOTE in congress and could NOT BE VETOED, ie; it would work perfectly.

    #239,

There is only humor. It is you, just like your neo-con counterparts, who make everything partisan and employ a team mentality that is sophomoric and simpleton in nature.

    #240,

More simpleton partisan nonsense. Do you have a mind of your own or do you need to get back to me after you check in with your party representative?

    #244,

I threatened no one. I assume that you are referencing my comment where I pointed out that Amerikans are too cavalier about the urgency of the Iraq atrocity because the threat of harm does not exist like it does for Iraqis or our service members and their families. I postulated that Amerikan’s attitudes might change if it were somebody they care about being in harms way, namely themselves.

    Sophisticated concept, I know.

    #246,

Here is your outright lie based upon nothing but a fantasy of your limited intellect:

He doesn’t want the war over shane, and he certainly doesn’t want what you or I want.
    He is a plant.
    Nothing more.
    Comment by BARTLEBEE — June 25, 2007 @ 11:30 pm

I think what you meant to do was call me a “communist” or something of that nature. I believe that’s what the coward’s manual calls for but you’ll have to look it up because I don’t have one. I know that you do because that is the most reasonable explanation for your “text book” example of cowardly behavior.

    #249,

Boo. (be sure and change your shorts before returning to the computer to avoid electrical shock due to the extreme wetness)

    #253,

I thought it was pretty clear that I’m “FED THE FCUK UP!” with cowards and “progressives” who forgive themselves of murder by blaming it on someone else while doing NOTHING to stop it. Sorry you fall into that group but that is your choice.

    #255,

Can you be any more of a coward? You are so afraid of being accountable for your actions that you choose to do nothing. Well, here’s some logic that you’ll learn if you ever go to college: Doing nothing is doing something, it’s called complicit enabling.

The rest of the pathetically cowardly comments aren’t even worth addressing. Other than from a standpoint of illustrating why the “progressive” movement doesn’t accomplish anything, which is because they are too afraid to do anything. A catch 22 for the courage-challenged.

Good luck to you, you’re going to need it.

Comment by Fed the Fcuk Up! — June 26, 2007 @ 1:05 am

So lets see, I say goodnight, and over a half hour later our rabid would be anarchist comes wandering back in claiming “he had to eat dinner”.

    LOL.

Mom’s can be tough about that stuff, to be sure. But does anyone find it unusual that he “HAD” to eat dinner in the middle of a debate?

A few “fun facts” about mr “Fed the Fcuk Up”s dinner story.

    A. Doesn’t it seem just a little odd that he “HAD” to eat dinner? (Unless mom made him)

    B. Do people usually eat dinner at close to midnight?

    C. His last post was 11:17 PM. He came back at 1:05 in the morning, claiming the reason he couldn’t respond to me was because he “had to eat dinner”. What kind of dinner takes almost 2 hours to eat?

Now, normally I’d respond to his line by line post but its clear to me at least, that this clown is no far left wingnut just trying to fight the good fight, but is instead a lying sack of crap troll.

Its obvious he lied about “having to eat dinner” and therefore he deserves no itemized response.

I was here all night for anyone to refute, but he didn’t come to me when I was here. Like that other troll freedomdingdong, (who is probably him), he waited until I LEFT, before taking me on.

So piss on em. Piss on the trolls.

  330. pine tree says:

Well, I hope he’s serious about this. The idiocy of Cheney’s position needs to be exposed for what it is. Just plain old, “I’ll do whatever I damn well please and if you try to stop me, I’ll flatten you.”

Will be interesting to see how this plays out. I can hear the Publicans on the floor pissing and moaning about victimization by the meanie Dems right now.

  331. BARTLEBEE says:

And one final point on Mr Fed the Fcuk Up.

In all his rantings he STILL has not come up with ONE SINGLE IDEA. Not one. He spends 5000 words condemning me as a coward and a traitor and calling me guilty of murder, because I dare to voice support for Rahm Emmanuels plan to defund the Vice Presidency, but he himself, even after I asked him repeatedly, has not offered in ANY of his posts, one, single solitary idea, plan or strategy that he supposedly thinks would do more good than my supporting Congress.

No plan. No ideas. No strategy.

Just running his mouth, calling me a murderer, and offering no plan of his own.

Which is 100 percent proof that he is a troll plant, nothing more.

  332. BARTLEBEE says:

Rahm Emmauel has a good idea. Will it fly? Who knows. But I’m not gonna shoot it down before it even gets a chance to get off the ground.

  333. nullsad says:

There will be no impeachment, this action of defunding will not happen either. Gonzo will be there till the end and the war will continue until the next prez….face the fact and move on to more constructive actions.

But it will end eventually…. once that happens the wheels of justice will being to move. It may take years or decades but this administration will eventually held accountable. It took the Jews decades to bring Eichman to justice but they did and the same will happen here. This administration will spend the rest of their lives and all the money they have made on legal bills and defense. Sure their corporation buddys will set up a defense fund but that will end eventually, plus look how good that worked out for Scooter… The key here is patience and understading it is a long road. I realize with Americans dying in Iraq that is difficult, the only thing that can stop that is the troops, if they wanted it over it would be. The repub’s wont and the Dem’s can’t…. need a majority to break a filibuster and 2/3rds to override a veto they do not have either. So all we can do now is dig in a take a deep breath….

p.s. FtFU if you are really are working on your MBA or perhaps PhD I would suggest retaking a humanities class or 2. Maybe picking up a book about Gandhi or Dr. King or just getting your money back. Because so far you have not learned a thing concerning that subject or maybe you have but are just ignorant.

  334. War4Sale says:

Tweety: “What happens if he thumbs his nose at you and tell the Democratic legislators to go to hell…are you gonna impeach him?!”

    Rahm: “No…no.”

And that is exactly why Cheney gets away with his criminality. To Rahm and his conservative Beltway consultants it is inconceivable to do what must be done. Our founders provided us with the remedy of impeachment specifically for a man like Dick Cheney, but the establishment Dems are too cowardly to use it.

  335. Evan says:

Never thought I’d say this, but RAHM EMMANUEL ROCKS!

  336. BARTLEBEE says:

War4sale is pretty much on the money. But I am still think that in SPITE of the lack of balls demonstrated by the 110th congress, that the will be FORCED to impeach before this year is out.

    That is my prediction.

  337. Binky says:

Chris Matthews, is, tragically, right. The “Big Dick” won’t ever be held accountable because he IS above the law, he knows it and this will be forgotten in a week just like every other crime he has committed in the last 6 years. The media will barely touch it, US citizens are more interested in celebrity culture and the Bush administration is laughing all the way to the bank as our troops, their troops and civillians die to enrich the corporations and their shareholders (Cheney, Rumsfeld et al) that are making a killing on this war. Dont forget, these guys are war profiteers, there primary interest is to move their personal agendas forward under the guise of a “war on terrorism” It’s hubris at its best and its incredibly sad, especially for the dead and their families.

  338. Fed the Fcuk Up! says:

    #330,

Thank you for the laugh einstein. Your only retort to my exposing your lies and cowardice is to question why I “had” to eat dinner, why such a late meal, and then how long it took for the meal. Priceless. For the sake of closure, I will put to rest these great mysteries that so befuddle your mind.

    1. Being a member of the human species, my body requires regular intakes of sustenance for energy purposes and life purposes. Therefore I HAVE to eat at least one meal a day. What does your species do?
    2. I live on the west coast, TP times are east coast. Let me know if you have trouble with the math.
    3. Two hours for dinner is not unusual. Dining out and eating at fast food restaurants can be faster, but when one prepares and cooks their own meals and then dines on them, 2 hours is not that much time.

Now, I will bother with your limited intellect and considerable ignorance no further. Good luck to you.

  339. tyler mcguillicudy says:

Wake up, people! Our constitution is jeopardized, comprised, and bolderized by the likes of Cheney who learned all of this at the knee of his mentor, Richard Nixon. It is mother’s milk to these suckers.

  340. An Annoyed American! says:

Why are they afraid to impeach him? This administration is making so much money and leaving our country for shit!
