Interesting, but since it’s the Washington Times, I will wait until it’s reported by a real news source before I believe it.

More delusions from the Bush Believers! Besides George is doing lots of charity work for the United Klans of America.

Allen only lost by 8,000 votes. That may seem like a lot, but proportionally it is a very thin loss. Virginia (my state) has an electorate sufficient enough that would seriously reconsider him as a contender.

Allen made a racist remark, but his record doesn’t indicate him being one. Virginia, in my view, has good race-relations. Allen never tried to hinder that, and his time as Governor made Virginia an even better place for minorities to settle.

  8. Democrat Soldier says:

#1 – Yeah! We don’t have enough Confederate Flags flying in Virginia! How’s that “macaca” working for you?

    /sarcasm

The “macaca” moment was just enough to sink his last campaign. His future gaffes will be enough to keep him out of politics from now on. We don’t need any more Strom Thurmonds in the Senate. Vote “NO!” on George “Macaca” Allen!

  9. Democrat Soldier says:

#7 – Where in Virginia do you live?

I was stationed at Ft. Myer, and lived in Alexandria, Reston, and Arlington.

I’m moving from Austin, TX back to the North East mid-July. I’ll be in NY/CT.

    my thoughts exactly

  11. Katie says:

Probably because he knows that he won’t win another election. I’m fairly sure that most of these old time Lemming Republics are going to have a tough fight for re-election.

  12. CompTROLLER V_1 says:

    #9,

I live in Fredericksburg, about 40 minutes south of the areas which you were stationed. Are you coming back to the Northeast on orders?

    Thanks soldier!

  13. Marie says:

Yes, any senators, who can still leave with a certain amount of self-respect, should think about getting out while the getting is good.
Before Bush&Co is finished, their party will be a laughingstock and the one used as the example of what not to be in the future.

  14. Democrat Soldier says:

12 – My old boss moved to Fredricksburg after his divorce was finalized, and bought a house with his partner.

No, the move is based solely on finances: I can make more money in the North East than I can in Texas!

I served from 86-90, and look back on my service with pride. The Army gave me a great disciplined foundation that has helped me in the civilian world.

I’ll be in South Salem, New York! I can’t wait for the turning of the leaves! Texas doesn’t have as many deciduous trees as the East/North East!

Have you ever gone camping in the Shenandoah? It’s beautiful in the fall!

  15. Rusty says:

Sen. John Warner (R-VA) “This Administration will end soon, and I have a lot of nob to polish in Texas.” So long dumbass.

So is John trying to outrun an indictment too?

Apparently he’s 80, this one might be a legitimate retiring.

  17. mark says:

Say! Didn’t Tom DeLay move to Virginia?

    I’m just sayin’

Your boss chose well. Fredericksburg has a remarkable economy, a great variety of housing, low taxes, etc. Housing prices may be a bit steep, but that’s because about 63% of my area commutes up north for fat salaries. More six-figure jobs are being created in this area, however. Population is also stable.

The military truly is the best place I know of for personal development in every arena. Civilian places and programs – educational, personal, retired pay, training benefits, etc., etc., etc. – should do better to model the military. The freedom you’ve provided to me is deeply appreciated! I hope the civilian world has been good to you. As well, you’re making a good decision to relocate to the northeast.

“I’ll be in South Salem, New York! I can’t wait for the turning of the leaves! Texas doesn’t have as many deciduous trees as the East/North East!”

I actually hope to move further up to New England someday, specifically for that! Virginia, I believe, is a great state, so there would be some hesitance. I know that NY City has a great economy, but is that reflected on the rest of New York, too? Simply wondering.

“Have you ever gone camping in the Shenandoah? It’s beautiful in the fall!”

You bet! I didn’t go in the fall (unfortunately), but in the Summer of 2000, I hiked on one of the feature mountains in Roanoke. I can’t recall the name of the mountain, but I did have a t-shirt as a reminder. I also camped for two nights. Awesome area!

  19. rsolive says:

Frank Rich at the New York Times (see today’s Truthout.org for the link) has written a persuasive piece suggesting that it is up to Warner to stop the charade being created by Patreus and Pace in support of the dissolution of the September “assessment.” He opines that Warner is the only one in his own party that has standing and possible willingness to shift the Republican Party away from Bush’s military backers (you know, the guys he promoted and can continue to promote…don’t think the military leadership isn’t every bit as political as Cheney, Paul Bremer, Rumsfeld, Perele, Wolfie and the rest).

  20. Jay Randal says:

Elisibeth Taylor said her worst husband was Sen. John Warner. She is correct and goodbye to him.

  21. Karim says:

I’ll believe it when I see it.

  22. VJ says:

    Hmmmm.

Senator John Warner (R) to be replaced by Senator Mark Warner (D) ?
    .

  23. Marie says:

rsolive – thanks for the heads up. Good article by Rich
