This is just more of the same semantics double-talk and dishonesty we’ve gotten from this administration. It has the effect of being a verbal signing statement where the word’s used in the principal document, and publicized to the media and then to the american people, don’t mean what they say.
I don’t understand why we are picking up the salary and benefits of the Attorney General and any other select attorneys that take time from America’s business, at the president’s direction, to work so dilligently on how this admiistration can deceive others, including the American people. They are personal attorneys and should be paid by him, not the people they deceive.
Unfortunately, the only ones that can really do anything about these types of situations are the American people, who just can’t seem to muster the courage to do the right thing other than take polls and complain when things they knew about, or should have been aware of, add to the legacy of deceit and undemocratic principles this administration and we, as their forced citizenry, have become famous for all over the world.

This is up there with Colin Powell declaring that the US shouldn’t have to abide by the Anti-War crimes, Anti-Torture, Anti-Terrorism provisions of the ICC and the Rome Statues because.. its too inconvenient. Because a noble shining light of democracy and freedom should surely never be burdened with troublesome groundless accusations like that! Yeah, while they were torturing abductees and hostages to death at places like Abu Ghraib, oops! What an amazing coincidence!

It’s not awkward at all for an executive branch agency to investigate itself. Every executive branch agency I’ve ever heard of has its own internal Office of Inspector General. The system pre-supposes that all employees in the agency are subject to restrictions in their official actions and that there is someone around who makes sure that they behave in accordance with those restrictions.
