Via Atrios, TV Newser reports that right-wing Headline News anchor Glenn Beck “is getting his first gig on CNN next week — and it’s in Paula Zahn’s spot. Zahn is off next week, so Beck is subbing at 8pm the week of July 2. It’ll be Beck’s first time hosting on the mothership.”
Oh, he’ll be a hit, a bhong hit.
June 26th, 2007 at 10:28 amNow we can see how he does, on the main channel. If his ratings are poor there, then he will be out.
June 26th, 2007 at 10:29 amplease dear GOD let him be out!!!!
June 26th, 2007 at 10:30 am“Zahn is off next week” She is off EVERY week, what a ditz! And the beckster will just be a different version of the same, instead of a ditzy blond, we will have a Nazi blond.
And they wonder why CNN ratings are in the crapper!
June 26th, 2007 at 10:31 amanother case of failing upwards.
June 26th, 2007 at 10:35 amYou will never need a better reason to never watch CNN ever again.
June 26th, 2007 at 10:35 amWOW, IT’S LIKE WATCHING AN ENTIRE NETWORK SPIrAL OUT OF CONTROL(kind of like a toilet flushing…)
June 26th, 2007 at 10:43 amodd…
it apparently didn’t post the entire first line….
but that pretty much sums it up….
June 26th, 2007 at 10:44 amDamn Liberal media!!!!
June 26th, 2007 at 10:44 amwait WHAT!?!?!?!
now its back????
June 26th, 2007 at 10:44 amthis is making my head spiral out of control….
Cable news media will hang on to the rightwing fascist mafia until BushCo’s polls are in the negative numbers.
June 26th, 2007 at 10:45 amIf you are trying to build ratings wouldn’t you at least pay attention to what 80% of America wants to see?
CNN is fully committed now to chasing a dying dinosaur down the crapper with Wolf Blitzer’s tongue up it’s ass.
I guess CNN management are certified pricks now.
June 26th, 2007 at 10:54 amCNN sure knows how to pick ‘em…
June 26th, 2007 at 10:56 amBeck’s the type of a-hole who would smile at an old lady getting splashed on the curb by a passing car.
Sociopathic, narcissistic and uncaring are descriptors for him.
Glenn is so self-absorbed he fills in on weekends as a Tampon.
June 26th, 2007 at 11:06 amWhat a twit. I can only hope that the ratings tank for the week.
This guy needs to be relegated to the backwaters of talk radio.
June 26th, 2007 at 11:40 amHe’ll say something stupid or racist and get demoted back to his crappy show, probably before the end of the week.
June 26th, 2007 at 11:48 amSo they’re rewarding Becks dismal ratings on an even crappier channel with a spot in prime time.?
CNN is complicit with the Neocon propaganda machine. Anyone else notice the push for more right wing voices in a already overwhelmingly right wing media?
June 26th, 2007 at 11:54 amamazing.. CNN has lost its friggin mind.
his ratings are horrible (althought slightly increased lately, when he was on vacation) and he gets to host the primetime show on CNN?
its live, so lets hope he fails.. maybe he will tell a caller to get AIDS and die like his fellow right wing talk show host Michael Savage did.
oh, and Beck will be on TV that week at 7, 8, and 9. /shiver.
June 26th, 2007 at 11:59 amBetween the OMG PARIS HILTON IS OUT OF JAIL LET’S GET HER ON LARRY KING crap and this, CNN is now as irrelevant to me as Fox Noise.
June 26th, 2007 at 11:59 amThis should make complete sense to all you Olbermann groupies who feel bad ratings should be rewarded.
But what’s ironic is that Beck has had a steady climb in the ratings and will soon be outperforming the “master of MSNBC ratings disaster” Keith “media matters” Olbermann!
and Beck hasn’t had 5% of all the media pimping and free ink Olbermann has been given.
Olberman – 4th place..last Thurs. and Fri…Buh Bye Keith….$4 Mill. well spent Dan!
June 26th, 2007 at 12:00 pmThe ratings don’t even matter anyway. Beck is a fascist water carrier and CNN’s owners want it that way. Just don’t watch CNN.
June 26th, 2007 at 12:02 pmBeck should be comfortable talking about Paris Hilton all day anyway. Its the area of expertise he has.
June 26th, 2007 at 12:04 pmPaula Zahn Now jumps the shark
June 26th, 2007 at 12:07 pm186 … Beck has the worst ratings in evening cable news. Kinda like the Repulican administation approval ratings. duh
June 26th, 2007 at 12:09 pmIf Glenn Beck becomes a regular on CNN, I will not watch CNN. I will boycott that station. I do not watch CNN Headline News now because of Glenn Beck. The Democratic presidential candidates complained about Fox News and would not sign up for a debate on the Fox Channel. However, I think that CNN is just as bad or worse than Fox News when they harbor a person such as Glenn Beck. He is comparable or worse than Hannity and any others on Fox.
June 26th, 2007 at 12:32 pmCNN hired Glen Beck. Am I living in an alternate universe? CNN used to be the show to beat. It’s now beating itself UP.
June 26th, 2007 at 12:34 pmWhat on Earth are they thinking?
Beck’s has not earned this kind of promotion via his ratings. His history of offensive and racist remarks should be enough to keep him off of “the most trusted name in news.”
This would be a joke if it wasn’t so repulsive.
June 26th, 2007 at 12:40 pmBigger audience? Just a chance to make a bigger A**hat of himself.
June 26th, 2007 at 12:41 pmBeck should be comfortable talking about Paris Hilton all day anyway. Its the area of expertise he has.

I’m sorry, Fran, but Beck has absolutely NO expertise with women, dead or alive. Inflatable, maybe.

I thought Paris Hilton was a starving Finnish boy.
June 26th, 2007 at 12:49 pmBased on pure entertainment, Beck is way ahead of Hannity, King, or Imus. I think what he does is smart and clever, whether or not I agree with his politics. With that being said, he should stay on the radio and avoid television.
June 26th, 2007 at 1:09 pmhey will bet Olby in the ratings i bet. Oh wait everyone bets Olby in the ratings
June 26th, 2007 at 1:59 pmopps he i mean
June 26th, 2007 at 2:00 pm26% = Morons.
June 26th, 2007 at 2:08 pmI’m sorry, Fran, but Beck has absolutely NO expertise with women, dead or alive. Inflatable, maybe.

My guess would be a male inflatable doll. (if there is such a thing)
June 26th, 2007 at 2:14 pm#6 – I agree. Makes one wonder why anyone watches CNN.
“When you want your spin to the right, tune in to CNN!”
June 26th, 2007 at 2:35 pmCNN, we’re not FOX News, but we’re trying!
June 26th, 2007 at 3:07 pmThe only exposure you cats have of Beck is the out of context BS that dishonest assassination sites have posted. You people don’t know what you’re talking about. In other words, the guy is not a Mike Savage type bomb-thrower.
June 26th, 2007 at 3:25 pmSo much for the “free market” driving the media. Beck’s show is tanking and bringing down the whole of CNN with it. So what does CNN do? Do they fire the underachiever? No! They use him to fill in for Zahn!! Are they trying to run ALL of their shows into the ground?
June 26th, 2007 at 4:31 pmToliver, I have seen and heard Beck’s show, both on CNN and on radio. He’s not as extreme as Savage, but he’s no saint.
June 26th, 2007 at 4:31 pmGosh they must be moving Glenn Beck into the prime slot because of those terrific ratings he’s been getting.
Not.
Truthfully, he gets worse numbers than Dennis Miller. The only real reason he is being catapulted into the prime spot is that the powers that be (you know, the Liberal controlled media) ordered him there. I truthfully believe that most of the CNN staff actually have integrity and are spitting up their lunch at this decision as much as I am.
Thank God for the internets.
June 26th, 2007 at 9:42 pmWasn’t 5/21 a day that Beck was off and also coincided with a GOP debate?
Beck’s radio ratings are quite healthy btw.

June 27th, 2007 at 8:23 pmGlenn Beck Rocks!!! Can’t wait untill his show is moved to CNN!
July 3rd, 2007 at 2:49 pmFor a progressive site you all are pretty closed minded. You haven’t listened to much the “right” has said, have you? We think like you but apparently you “liberals” have been so brained washed by your liberal media or you are so weak minded as to take everything you are fed at face value that you will take any criticism or prejudice as full blown hate and hence facism. I guess you all have been taught well!!!
July 6th, 2007 at 3:02 pmAnd bluejersey, you in the 6th grade? Blow up dolls…Geeeezzzz
I’ve had a recent opportunity to meet Glenn and spend a considerable amount of time with him. I was very impressed with Glenn Beck. He was very kind to everyone and without a doubt loves his country and those who serve our country. I gained a new level of respect for Glenn after having spent most of the day with him. He really is a great person and fun to talk to and be around. I was very very impressed. As I watch the Glenn Beck show I enjoy it more and more. Keep up the good work Glenn! We love your show!
