Protestors block Gonzales press conference.

Attorney General Alberto Gonzales was in Boise today for a press conference to discuss combatting gang activity. But he was forced to move the press conference “this afternoon to the federal courthouse in Boise because more than 100 protesters staked out his chosen site for the event. So instead of holding his conference at the Fort Boise Community Center, Gonzales opted to stage the event more than an hour later at the US District Court building nearby.”

UPDATE: KTVB reports, “Just before his scheduled 2:50 p.m. appearance for media questions and answers, a representative appeared and told the gathered crowd that Gonzales would speak at an alternate site – with only credentialed members of the media present. The crowd erupted in disappointment, with many yelling and screaming. Some chanted ‘coward, coward.’

    Godspeed Mr. Gonzales, Godspeed.

I lived in Boise for a brief while. It’s not exactly a liberal bastion…

Wow, you know it’s bad when the Conservatives organize against their own!

    Bears repeating!

  5. Justice says:

This is great news! Way to go protesters! It is ludicrous that that slimy liar is STILL the acting AG! I hope more and more people start participating in rallies and protests. These people have got to be stopped. This admin. across the board shows NO accountability and when confronted with the horrible job they are doing ( at our expense) they claim “mistakes happen” it is beyond belief. That idiot running NASA didn’t do anything to prevent our latest designs for rockets were PUT ON THE INTERNET. So many stupid things have occured that have harmed our security and made us much more vulnerable on all levels. We have to take to the streets, nothing else is working.

    GO BOISE!!!

When you’ve lost ground in Idaho, you’ve really lost something.

    BRILLIANT!!

Get lost Gonzo — and don’t come around Idaho again. :P

  8. Zooey says:

    #3 – unbelievable

Compared to the rest of the state, Boise tends to be more liberal. Probably just because of the higher population. You can imagine what it’s like way up north where the rivers run red, as Squeegy so eloquently stated.

Yes, it is. Gonzo can say whatever he wants.

The protestors have every right to object to Gonzo speaking at the Fort Boise Community Center.

Gonzo did say whatever he wanted later at the Federal Courthouse.

Free speech — alive and well. :-)

    Boise Idaho???
That is THE most conservative city I’ve EVER visited.
If this administration has lost Boise Idaho, they’re in serious trouble.
Anybody read about what happened to the Rove whistleblower’s house??? It burnt down & her car was ran off the road (in Alabama).
Raw Story had a piece up on it that abruptly disappeared after about 1/2 an hour. I think the original was from a harpers piece.
These guys will NOT go peacefully I guarantee it…

Protesting has nothing to do with silencing anybody dumb a$$.

Typical conservative. Money rules your life eh?

  24. OutSourced says:

Talking only to credentialed members of the MSM is not a speech, it’s a press conference.

‘Fredo really is ‘Fredo. Nobody believes him, nobody listens to him, nobody wants to hear what it says, until he says what we all want to hear, “I resign, and here’s what I know, Senator.”

Those 100 people kept Gonzo from speaking at his chosen spot.

    It’s something.

We need to keep doing this — wherever members of this admin show up — protestors should meet them.

  32. Nyle Seabright says:

The image being held up by the central protester is a portait of Bush compiled form the faces of dead soldiers. You will find it online here:

  33. loretta says:

except in this instance the sum is decidedly less than the parts……

  34. BlueIdahoan says:

LOL, Alberto G. comes to a town where there is virtually no gang activity to begin with,to hold a sham press conference to show the die hards and dead enders that the Bush administration is trying to do something successful. He gets chased away by a small group of American citizens exercising their right to “peacably assemble and petition their government”… . I am proud of my fellow Boise citizens way to go! The only other question I have is why didn’t they hold the press conference in Nampa or Caldwell, two nearby towns that do have significant gang problems with drive by shootings occuring way more often than in lily white Boise?

  35. Karim says:

Gonzo is done for. When Idaho starts protesting his appearance, then you know that you have a problem.

  36. Wordsmith says:

    Comment by Gil Hul — June 26, 2007 @ 10:30 pm

YOU don’t have to do shit; we’ve been doing it. Only 100 people? Jesus Christ. It wasn’t known until the day before that Gonzales was coming to town. He was scheduled to be at 2:30 pm – in the middle of a workday – in a town where most people work for a living. We succeeded……Gonzales didn’t want to come out and mouthed some bullshit later at the ‘credentialed press conference’ about interruptions.

    As for organization….we are organized.
