Gonzales pressed on Cheney executive order dispute.

The Justice Department claims that Vice President Cheney’s exemption from an executive order on classified materials has been “under review” for the last five months. But a June 4 Freedom of Information Act request about the Cheney dispute found “no documents” on the matter, suggesting nothing has been done. Today Reps. Henry Waxman (D-CA), John Conyers (D-MI) and William Lacy Clay (D-MO) wrote Alberto Gonzales demanding answers on the status of the review by July 12. Read their full letter HERE.

Gawd, I wish they would stop writing letters and start going straight to the subpoena. The Bushies have proven that asking nicely accomplishes nothing. The only language these people speak is the language of force. Enough already. No more letters, more subpoenas!

more empty threats from the Dems?

  3. spit take says:

Any bets on whether Abu G recalls any of this?

“I’m sorry, I don’t recall that meeting, Senator.”

“I really have no recollection of who I told to do this.”

“I don’t recall whether the Office of the Vice-President is in the executive branch or not. I don’t have notes on that in front of me.”

What more needs to happen with Gonzalez before they initiate an impeachment hearing for him?

“Nothing has been done”? What? I’m sooo shocked! I hate the Republicans in office, but the Democrats just don’t seem to be willing or able to stand up to them. The truth is, both parties know that they have the American people by the balls. With a two-party system, when both parties are incompetant and impotent, what alternatives are left? Either way, all of these politicians are hanging on to their wealth and power to the detriment of “we the people”. Whether Democrat or Republican, they are all collecting funds from their lobbyists, enjoying free travel courtesy of the taxpayers, all the while crying about how the other party just won’t let them get anything done. I’m sick of the Republicans…well, existing, and I’m sick of the Democrat’s unwillingness to directly attack Bush, his cronies, and his policies. What do they have to lose by carrying out the will of the American people?

Executive – Redneck wife beater “It is your fault your face got in the way of my fist. Now Shut the F-up and keep your trap shut. i am the decider”

Gonzales has shown he doesn’t know law and will have to get direction from either Karl Rove or President Cheney. Gonzales is good at following orders, he has a problem with explaining things. Now he doesn’t believe it is necessary to tell the truth even while under oath. I thought this Administration was to bring back religious values but it was just lip service. President Cheney has completed the plan the Horror action done by the CIA in the 70’s. Infecting Black men with syphilis is part of the way good honest religious Republican work. Saddam gassed hundreds of Kurds, Republicans infected thousands of black men with syphilis to see how they would die. Bush is just the puppet in the seat and the Wal Mart Greeter for visitors to the White House. Americans should be proud to see the 60’s plan be completed as President Cheney learned everything from Richard Milhouse Nixon. The Washington article about Cheney is the same as the CIA Horror Action done 30 years ago and continues today.

Ordinarily I would agree that a letter is in order, but this DoJ has demonstrated itself to be corrupt and out of control. No more letters.

    ACTION.

What do you expect Waxman to do? He’s using the limit of his authority as it is, and without significantly more clout (i.e. Republicans) he and the other committee chairman are paper tigers. They are at least attempting to shine light on the roaches, but you can’t expect an exterminator if he lacks the boric acid (to stretch an analogy to its limit).

I am so tired of these letters. These Dems are too weak!

  14. ace says:

Is there anything that prevents these Senators from marching right into Gonzales’ office and demanding to see the paper work in person?

  16. Doc Rock says:

US Attorney’s, ultimately, are the enforcers of these Congressional subpoenas, I believe, so who’s going to be able to compel compliance? RICO!

  18. Robert M. says:

I’d love to comment, but I’m actually speechless. It’s all been said; everything’s laying out there in plain sight. There are crimes being committed and no one with the authority to do anything about it is willing to do so. And what could I say that would cause YOU to do something, anything that would make a difference?

Here’s why. The Democrats are complete, corporate facist sell outs!

It’s very clear that these dem’s have no balls!!

The approval rating of congress is due to the fact that they REFUSE to do what the public and the rest of the world seeks.

The IMPEACHMENT OF GW BOTCH AND HIS PUPPETMASTER DICK(HEAD) CHENEY.

THEN AND ONLY THEN WILL THE REST OF THE WORLD LOOK TO WORKING WITH US AGAIN REDARDING OUR COMMON INTERESTS AND DESIRES!!!

  20. dixie blood says:

…should have been REGARDING and NOT redarding…sorry…

  21. sponson says:

I want to suggest, at the risk of getting mocked, that there is a distinction to be made between what Conyers and Leahy are doing, and their level of diligence and aggressiveness, and what the Democrats in general are doing about the war. We all know now that Cheney and his sidekick Bush committed multiple crimes and are operating with impunity; but Bush’s desperate refusal to comply to a legal subpoena from the US Congress, which they plan to pursue right into the courts, is not some sort of wimpy Democratic capitulation. Will they disappoint again? Only they know the answer to this, but to bash them when the they do right thing is a bit premature.
