Leahy demands DoJ investigation of Kavanaugh.

Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-VT) wrote a letter to Attorney General Alberto Gonzales today asking for an investigation concerning the apparently false testimony to Congress by Judge Brett Kavanaugh, a former White House lawyer, about his role in forming the Bush administration’s detainee policy. At his confirmation hearing last year, Kavanaugh claimed he was “not aware” of the administration’s legal arguments, but a recent Washington Post article revealed he was involved in the internal debates.

I will be surprised when a news flash is posted that a member of the Bush/Cheney criminal cabal has been found who can definitively be shown NOT be a liar, scoundrel, war profiteer, serial adulterer, or thief.

A letter to Gonzo. I am sure that will gain alot of momentum.

How can this clown continue to usurp the DoJ and our entire legal system. The entire world laughs as our country goes to $hit.

    Jesus Christ on a Crutch!

Will someone PLEASE restore the rule of law here!

  6. Martin Gifford says:

Sometimes I think that the “Impeachment is off the table” line is to make the Republicans relax, and to make all these different investigations look mild. Eventually the Democrats will get big evidence of wrongdoing or a long list of smaller evidence.

It’s like the Democrats are slowly white-anting the Republicans. And as time goes on, the undeniability of the Iraq failure grows. The Democrats are letting the Repbulicans hang themselves.

The longer the Republicans stay in power, the worse things get, and the longer they’ll be in the wilderness after the next presidential elections.

So it could be a long-term strategy. Unfortunately Iraqis and the American soldiers suffer, but over the long-term the Democrats might think that it works out better.

At least I hope that some long-term strategy is the reason for the Democrats saying “Impeachment is off the table.”

Otherwise, this ongoing malaise is despiriting.

This is so typical of the neo-conservatives under the Bush administration: they talk tough about fighting terrorism and are quick to take away everyone’s civil rights. But when the spotlights on them, they’re quick to punk out, yellow to the core. These are the gutless sons-of-bitches who rattle their swords but instantly wimp out when they have to account for their actions—or inactions—in defending our nation’s honor and security. In fact, the neo-conservative Bush administration is in itself a threat to national security.

Unfortunately, Gonzo is one of the Repuke crooks and is covering up their high crimes.

  12. MsJoanne says:

Dixie, I understand your immense frustration but I can’t wholly blame the Dems…they have been stymied at every turn. Look at the number of bills they tried to get thru, only to be held up by the rethuglicans. It’s disgusting.

I think they ARE finally doing something, but they are being blocked at every stage. This Gonzo bit pisses me off so badly because he is supposed to be JUSTICE and he’s nothing but a bitch.

I can only hope that he turns into a prison bitch!

They do not have the votes in the Senate… need more Dems then we can truly clean house. This is our chance.

  15. had enough says:

If we can get a 67 majority in the senate, plus elect a Dem pres/VP, business as we see it now will drastically change. We will see the handcuffs and the guilty frog marched to where they belong.

    Enough of this sh!t!!!

Nancy and Hillary and the rest of the dem suck ups all need to go!! They do nothing, nothing for the working people!!!! They only, only, only love them selves!!!!

    Another Republicrook.

    Why is this getting mundane?

  18. Tom3 says:

Tom Hartman was on Air America Radio this afternoon.

BTW, AAR is alive and well. The repukes are lying about it going under.

Tom says the first phase of Roves 2008 election plan is to blame the Democrats for the Iraq war.

Rove has succeeded. The Dems didn’t cut Chimpy off, so they lost. Of course if the did cut Chimpy off, they would have lost too. Rove is very clever at putting the Dems into a no-win situation.

The next three phases involve winding down the Iraq war so that the Dems cannot use it in the 2008 elections. And if the Dems have nothing else, they are toast.

Watch for Chimpy bringing our troops home for Christmas. Coming soon to a TV near you.

I can’t help but wonder if we got impeachment proceedings underway, if a certain number of NO votes would turn to YES votes if they saw the mood of the people shifting. We will never know if we don’t try.

Well, my brother’s a carpenter. I can ask him to build one with this engraved on it:

    Article. II.Section. 4.
The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.

We can present it to her in a great big, well-publicized public ceremony. Then, as she’s holding it her hands admiring it, and giving us that oddly-compelling, open-mouthed laugh,
that’s when we give her kick in the tuchas.

  31. willyloman says:

Any of you guys know who Bruce Kovner is? President of AEI? Ceo of Caxton and Associates? Mega Hedge fund Guy?

I saw a thing in the Wash. Post about Cheney making 8 million from Halliburton stock last year.

But he made 30 or so more from a Northern Chicago Trust.

Overseas Hedge funds pay into Trust companies to get the funds into US.

Caxton has a Caymon Island branch operating outside US restrictions. Some Hedge funds are based on the national debt of countries.

What if, Kovner set up one on Iraq before the invasion and certain members of the Executive Branch invested in it?

Would kind of explain why they were so desparate to go into Iraq and why Cheney made so much in the Trust.

Would also explain why “regime change” was so neccisary. Once Saddam was gone, the sanctions were lifted.

Also, Bush immediately forgave the debt of Iraq.

  32. JPark says:

I can’t blame her. The Dems are positioning themself for a run at the presidency. Yeah, it would probably be good but they aren’t exactly showing a sack.

Brent Kavanaugh was Kenneth Starr’s co-consprirator and wrote the impeachment report.

I say go after the SOB.

  36. OutSourced says:

Lying to Congress is an impeachable offense and would justify Kavanaugh’s removal from the powerful DC Circuit.

Since Mr. Kavanaugh is its least qualified member – his former duties were helping Ken Starr and helping prospective jurists wind their way through Senate confirmations – that would be a fitting consequence to Mr. Bush’s foisting him upon us.

  37. vanessa mahmoud says:
