An appeals court in Texas refused today to reinstate a dropped conspiracy charge against former House Majority Leader Tom Delay (R), though the former congressman is still facing two charges of money laundering and conspiring to launder money. The court agreed with a previous judge who threw out the one conspiracy charge because the alleged crime occurred before the law took effect in 2003.
Gee a big win, there Tom. You got a pass because your crime took place before the law was in effect.
God, I love watching the GOP idiots support this as a win. THAT shows how much concern the GOP and its followers have for the rule of law in this country!!

You’re defending Jefferson by remaining mute. With DeLay, at least, there’s some reasonable concern that the DA could be politically motivated in charging him, given that that court has already dropped at least one of the original charges against DeLay.

People are tired of this crap — first the Libby thing (lied about a non-crime), then the US Attorney thing (perfectly legal firings), now it looks like the Delay charges are pretty bogus.
Is this what the Dems want to be perceived as — the over-prosecuting party?
I guess when your policies aren’t popular you need to distract people with something else, right?

I won’t be muted because your own hypocrisy makes you uncomfortable. You shouldn’t pretend that my bringing up Mr. Jefferson has no merit.
June 27th, 2007 at 3:04 pmMr. Jefferson is cooling his drinks with a few C-note ice cubes. You would think the dems would be calling for his resignation from office, what with their outrage at political corruption ala DeLay. But no, they cant do that, the most corrupt city in America badly needs their corrupt congressman in this time of need.
America’s Grandmother must have lost her broom, cleaning up the culture of corruption seems to have lost its impetus.

June 27th, 2007 at 3:08 pmBringing up Jefferson is laughable. No one, not anyone in the party or those who are democrats support that. But don’t miss Brittany over there. Good way to throw everyone off the issue. Just like your jealousy comment. Oh, yeah, baby…I am sooooooo jealous.

Using your same argument, given that Jefferson is a Democrat and the current Justice Department has established a record of partisanship in prosecutorial decisions that is unmatched, why do you assume that there could be no “reasonable concern” about a political element to Jefferson’s indictment?

I’m sorry, I don’t think it registered in your canned brain. All of you planned ahead of time for fake condemnation when Jefferson was actually indicted, then slowly got right back to bashing nobody but Republicans, primarily ones who haven’t even been indicted, a state of speculation from all of you.
There is no reasonable concern. The FBI has him on tape, money in the freezer, etc., etc., etc. This is generally an open-and-shut case. There you go, ignore the evidence and use your ignorance as a cover to defend the con. The FBI conducted a thorough investigation and turned over a great case to the U.S. Attorney. It’s pretty much exempt from the troubles at the department.

June 27th, 2007 at 3:24 pmThe difference between Delay and Jefferson is that Delay was excceedingly effective in his job and it drove the Dems nuts. They wanted to get rid of him so they trumped up some charges.
Jefferson is just a nobody who broke the law. Repubs don’t really even care about nailing him as he is politically ineffective anyway.
But I have a question: the Dems are the morally superior party so they should be putting morals above politics and prosecute both equally, right?

Scooter Libby – convicted of multiple felonies, sentenced to prison
Steven Griles (Deputy Interior Secretary) – convicted, sentenced to prison
Kyle “Dusty” Foggo – Bush appointee, #3 man at CIA – indicted for taking bribes from those who bribed Duke Cunningham – Gonzales FIRED the prosecutor who took out both of them
Ken Tomlinson – head of CPB (over PBS and NPR) – caught running a horse racing/bookie operation out of his government office; this vindicated Bill Moyers, who was bashed by people like you for complaining that Tomlinson was “corrupt.”
This is just a partial list, I could go on and on. John Doolittle, (R-CA) is another California Rep. on the verge of indictment along with Tom Feeney of Florida.

June 27th, 2007 at 3:48 pmWilliam “Frozen Assets” Jefferson is the laughing stock of this particular ‘librul’ family, CT. Do we talk about him every waking moment of the day? Of course not. No more than we talk about Tom “Too Much Bug Spray In His Diet” Delay. But yes, our talk about these two men is a slight bit different.
Right now, the House Ethics committee is conducting its own investigation of Mr. Frozen Assets. Mr. Frozen Assets lost his position on his committee, and is hanging on to his seat simply because the law says he’s innocent until proven guilty.
Mr. Bug-spray Diet, on the other hand, was never investigated by his peers. While Mr. Frozen Assets lost his committee positions a year before his indictments were handed down, Mr. Bugspray Diet held onto his position as House Speaker until after he was indicted. In fact, your party gave him a pass on House ethics rules, until a groundswell of criticism from people like us made them say, “Well, maybe we SHOULD relieve him of his position as speaker as the law requires.” It was his choice to bow out of the election, so the reason he is Mr. Bugspray instead of Representative Bugspray is because of _his_ choice.
In the end, I hope justice finds both Mr. Bugspray and Mr. Frozen Assets. Bugspray Man, however, will be a sweater victory considering how much you blowhards supported him. Notice, the Democrats AREN’T supporting Frozen Assets like you tools supported Bugspray. Got it? Good.

The schizophrenic speaks to itself, AS USUAL.
Don’t hurt yourself trying to pat your own back to hard!
BTW, you should get a refund from your flunky Community College, puke, you haven’t learned ANYTHING WORTH A SH*T.

By the way, somebody’s path of education is not for you to criticize. You won’t get anywhere in life, so I’m already better off than you.
June 27th, 2007 at 5:38 pmConsidering that Community Colleges have helped millions of people move onto 4-year schools (which I’m headed to) and good careers… again, your stereotype have no merit. Get yourself updated, now.
June 27th, 2007 at 5:40 pmIt is quite amusing to watch the trolls, especially Flaco and CT try to defend Tommy Boy Delay. It just goes to show how they find ANYTHING a Repug does in the name of the party is OK (Like sucking Jack A’s teat, as almost all of them have done, including Darth hissown self) and twisting the rule of law to fit their agenda.
But then integrity and constitutional advocacy has never been the current Cabal’s strong suit and the trolls here just keep on worshipping at their feet.
But 08 is fast approaching and the sewage swirling round the bowl will be smelly and leave some bad streaks but they will get cleaned up.

June 27th, 2007 at 6:45 pmWhoopeeee!
I’ll bet the Repugs are proud they can now use the technicalities they’ve accused poor people of using for decades to avoid the horrors of our penal colonies.
PRIMATE INTER PARES you are a fool.
