They can tolerate well-founded views that differ. Sometimes they see semi-psychotic babble that sets them off. If there’s some sense of foundation in the reality-based universe, they will tolerate a different interpretation of the facts.

Your observable universe appears to be quite limited Wayne, in spite of your own overbearing, self-professed brilliance.

Do you have any clue about what occurs at colleges and universities today? Are you even mildly aware of the fascist tactics employed by the left–gatekeepers of “open-mindedness, tolerance, diversity and inclusion”–at the great bastions of higher learning? See, what you define as “ignorance, bigotry and ideology,” they call “conservatism.” And the punishment for “currently belonging to, or ever having been a member of” such groups can be severe. That goes not only for the little tyrants who put conservatives on Stalinist show trials, but also among professors who demand students toe the line, or else. As I’m sure you’re also very well aware, in the Israeli/Palestinian struggle, taking the side of the Jews at Ivy League institutions can be hazardous.

And don’t for one minute try to pretend that this intolerance is mere immaturity, left at the university door once these authoritarians leave campus. No, these people move on into the news organizations–and become the next generation of professors–to spread their worldview to the unwashed and unruly masses.

The poster was correct. There is far more institutionalized intolerance among the left today than anything you will find on the right. So, please, spare us the pompous declarations of your own goodness, enlightenment and moral superiority.
