Reporter’s press pass ’snatched’ by Bush aide.

The Rhode Island Providence Journal reports:

Reporter Jarrod Holbrook had his White House press pass snatched today after he shouted “Mr. President” twice as President Bush greeted Air and Army National Guardsmen gathered on the tarmac at Quonset airport in North Kingstown.

A member of the president’s entourage pointed at Holbrook after he first tried to get Bush’s attention. The man then ripped the pass from Holbrook’s belt after he shouted to the president, who was less then 10 feet away, again.

  2. kelso says:

Nobody asks King George questions unless they’re submitted and approved by the White House first.

    Silly peasant.

  3. Think Prostate says:

    Oh, this is hilarious!

  4. leftcoast says:

Holbrook said afterward that he just wanted to ask Bush how he enjoyed his visit to Rhode Island. Members of the media were not told they could not ask the president questions.
    A question???
There ya go. The new world order.

  5. Conservatron says:

You are all idiots. Easily led sheep of the left wing. Mindless drones that rely on facts. Who ever thought of such a thing.

  9. diogenes says:

Mr. Holbrook was within his rights to defend himself, and cold-cock the snatcher.

  10. Valiant Venus says:

And of course TP had to use the word “snatch” in conjunction with Bush to demean him.

    Pathetic.

  11. Zooey says:

Wow. They pulled this in public? Hmmm…

  12. Think Prostate says:

It’s funny because it’s true. Don’t shout at the president or we’ll yank your pass.

The word “snatch” is from the linked article, Hag. You’d know that if you read it.

    Pathetic.

Dramamine. Dramamine. Maybe the Minute Men should move to the front of the White House. I don’t know. Seems everyday there is some idiotic move by this WH.
Last time I looked they worked for us. But it seems arrogance is the rule of the times. Just watch those press briefings. The WH could care less about the populous (we are to be led). They all know best. We can’t be trusted to the affairs of the “world”. Blasted. This is facism. No other word for it.

  15. CT V_1 says:

Reports have an Islamo-stalinist agenda. They should should have their cameras confiscated and sold by the WH.

  16. MsJoanne says:

I’m way past dramamine and well into arsenic territory.

  17. Damian says:

After having to answer the high-schoolers’ questions earlier this week, he’s had enough of that crap.

  18. PTF says:

The only reason to have the press there was to make this charade of a presidency seem legitimate.

    Joanne,
Do not despair. This is only history repeating itself. But, this time the press is not alone. We have the internet.

It is pathetic that Bush is a big ol’ pu$$y. I would have just yelled “Hey you cu#t.”

  23. Heterodoxy says:

Did they swipe his pencil and put him in a ‘time out’? Pulling a press pass does NOT not make him a journalists.

Is that better? Certainly better representation.

  27. MsJoanne says:

But, this time the press is not alone. We have the internet.

For now. There’s some super internet that they’ve been discussing for some time which will, in essence, restrict the internet (under the guise, of course, of “improving” it). If that ever happens, our only source of real news will be gone.

  28. Clyde the Ripper says:

Bush doesn’t need and help in demeaning. He does quite well by himself.

And, speaking of snatch, since you are demeaning TP by insinuation, have a good day.

So our employee doesn’t like – or allow – questions. Hmmm. Lets repeat that: Our employee doesn’t like – or allow – questions…People, when are we going to put this administration on notice that they all work for the citizens of the USA? Kings don’t answer questions. Dictators grab legitimate press passes off the clothing of reporters. Monarchy’s allow their King to get away with that. I guess Amerikkka does also.

  32. leftcoast says:

If that ever happens, our only source of real news will be gone.

    Comment by MsJoanne

    Joanne,
The internet is impossibly too strong for that to happen. If it does happen (that our internet is restricted), well letters by horseback may be our next step. As was the “Postman”.

  38. Fed the Fcuk Up! says:

    #31,

Careful about calling Americans apathetic. My experience is you will get angry feedback pointing out that they really don’t think you are that important anyway and don’t care what you think.

Never seeing the irony of course.

    Progressive indeed.

“They did a survey and found most Americans are apathetic, but who cares?”

  42. OutSourced says:

What president Bush seems most ardent about is removing the “public” from the phrases public servant and public employee. CEO’s of private companies don’t need no stinkin’ questions; Mr. Bush apparently doesn’t think he does either.

The idea that a reporter who raises his or her voice to ask a question of a president quickly moving past is tantamount to saying that asking a question is a threat to the president – or at least, to his fraudulent peace of mind.

Apparently, they are already starting to privatize the post office. I read some things about it but one of the posters yesterday said they already started in his area.

Opening or not delivering mail soon?

Lovely trends we see here these days.

  45. Shingles says:

Stinky: I’m sure she’d love Fred Thompson stains.

  46. Fed the Fcuk Up! says:

    #41,

Thank you for the initial laugh.

But then I remembered that the only reason such is a funny joke is the ring of truth it has. And then I realized how far the integrity of ALL AMERICANS has fallen and how it is now the legitimate butt of jokes.

And then I think about what Americans are apathetic to: murder, torture, oppression, racism, the abandonment of its own constitution and bill of rights.

And then I became deeply saddened.

But, as you pointed out, no one will care anyway.

  47. whoa_now says:

I think the “snatch” was in reference to Bush’s ability to snatch things out of rightful owners’ hands like “elections.”

  48. leftcoast says:

    #44
I was just thinking about the movie the Postman. I’m sure you’ve seen it. It may be the last way we get a bit of real news someday.

  49. Spudge_Boy says:

Thank you for the initial laugh.

While it wasn’t really meant to be a funny joke, it could be seen as such, if, as you pointed out, it didn’t have the ring of truth to it. We are 100% in agreement on this one. The American public is out to lunch on just about every real subject there is.

The deepest discussion that usually pops up in crowds is Lost or Dancing with the Stars.

Or Constitution is being eroded away and I will bet most Americans can’t spell Constitution.

This story didn’t even raise a blip on the MSM radar. Unbelievable. Chalk another achievement for the Liberal Media. Lets hear it for the free press and freedom of speech.

  55. Mr. Bush Goes To Hell says:

“One day the good Lord will take Fidel Castro away,” Bush said in answer to a question after a speech at the Naval War College.

    TRUE.

Also, it’s FUNNY how Bush and Cheney and Rummy and Gonzo and the REST of the WAR CRIMINALS don’t think it will happen to them.

IT WILL, and they will end up being with Castro and Saddam and Osama with their MASTER

    Satan…

  62. Jay Randal says:

Bush wanted the Secret Service to kill the guy, but instead they just took his press pass. Dubya is mad, because his bogus immigration bill did not pass.

  63. Jonathan Haynes says:

There was so much security at Quonset on Thursday, and the enlisted men didn’t even get to go out and meet the President, only high ranking officers. Also you see he needed a Whitehouse press pass to get in, they wouldn’t allow a blogger or freelancer anywhere near, I know because I tried to get in, and was told to go out somewhere far away.
