Any chance we can get McCain to take Lieberman to Iraq with him? Perhaps they could take an unarmored stroll and after they buy a few cheap rugs they can admire all the satellite dishes and cell phones together (unless of course that cell phone is wired to an IED, then it’d be tsk tsk)

What would Paris do in this situation, Wolf? Take him along for the photo op or leave him here to mind the AIPAC agenda?

Obviously McCain wants a re-do on the photo-op for his failing election campaign. The last set of pictures just wouldn’t do, so at taxpayer expense McCain is getting a new set of photo’a taken. Yawn.

veritas, I fully agree. For me McCain is a tragic figure. Mind, I don’t shed any tears for him, he a politician after all and is doing literally everything to get the job. He’s sacrificing the lives and health of many people in Iraq for his personal ambition.There is an aura of desperation about him. He can’t and wont believe it’s over. Like an ageing movie star trying to be the belle du jour at 60. McCain’s so very ZsaZsa Gabor.

Jg & Zooey: Likewise, when McCain spoke with candor about the Vietnam War, he had personal credibility. He got the royal slapdown from the Chimp during his debates with him and, instead of deciding to use his integrity to bring the level of dialogue to a greater height, he prostituted himself and became Bush’s “front man” on the circuit. One only has to wonder what kind of deal he made in order to participate in such a charade??

At this point, it became clear that he was having a mental breakdown and was being brainwashed. (or brainwashed for a price just like Colin Powell??). Whatever McCain’s motives, his fall from credibility and grace is almost unbelievable. Yes, he was respected for his military record and still deserves that recognition.

Yes, he has become a sycophantic loyal bushie who drinks the same tainted Kool-aid as the rest of the brainwashed lockstepping neonazis we have destroying this country.

And, finally, yes – I would have to say that McCain’s obstinacy even trumps that of Bush in his inability to admit to his own human fallibility…..he’s returning to Iraq in an attempt to prove all the naysayers wrong and to attempt to rewire his own campaign history. Unfortunately for him, this will prove to only double the effect of the first trip which, effectively, tanked his campaign.

McCain is a very sad american story – of someone who sold his soul for either money or the greedy lure of wrongdoing and the ability to “get away with it” – both equally seductive lures. His alignment with the GOP ideology has to do with his personal inability to gain the necessary insight into his own psychiatric pathology. One who cannot admit a mistake and is so mentally compromised that they cannot develop insight enough to realize that they have a problem is akin to a ‘BUSH REDUX’….SOMETHING THIS COUNTRY DOES NOT NEED AND CANNOT AFFORD.

This sorry sack of insanity will finish off his campaign once and for all with this new trip idea. His egoic transparency has become painfully obvious: He’s as unable to admit to making a mistake as George W. Bush! That’s now patently clear since his last trip was called a “serious blunder” so now it’s a “blunder redux” and he still hasn’t a clue, does he?

The problem with psychiatric pathology is that the individual experiencing it isn’t capable of the necessary “insight” to even recognize or realize what he is doing…..I’d say that describes The Shrub to a tee.
