Search for WMD in Iraq finally over.»

Today, the U.N. Security Council voted (14-0, with Russia abstaining) to “immediately shut down the U.N. bodies key to monitoring Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction programs under Saddam Hussein — a decision an Iraqi diplomat said would close ‘an appalling chapter’ in his country’s history.”

Isn’t it time for the mainstream to apologize to Michael Moore, Scott Ritter, Robert Scheer, Hanz Blix, etc. etc. etc.

How about the a-holes who booed Moore at the Oscars? Are they proud of themselves?

  8. nanlichi Says:

Somebody tell Hannity and his butt buddies at Faux News that the search is over. And they didn’t find any.

But 41% of dumbfu*ks we live with still believe that Sadam was closely involved with 9/11.

Where would they get that idea? Where indeed.

So the reason we invaded has been proven false (AGAIN). Bring our troops home. The invasion has proved to be a recruiting ground for insurgents. Heckuva job chimpy/shooter/rummy/condi. There is no credibility left in the WH…if they truly loved our country they would resign in disgrace and give someone competent a chance to rectify the situation. Chimpy sure as hell can’t.

  15. Chemical Ali Says:

Ali soon displayed his characteristic ruthlessness, ordering the indiscriminate use of chemical weapons such as mustard gas, sarin, tabun and VX against Kurdish targets. The first such attacks occurred as early as April 1987 and continued into 1988, culminating in the notorious attack on Halabja in which over 5,000 people were killed.

By 1988, some 4,000 villages had been destroyed, an estimated 180,000 Kurds had been killed and some 1.5 million had been deported.

He was nicknamed Chemical Ali (”Ali Kimyawi”) by the Kurds for his role in the campaign; according to Iraqi Kurdish sources, Ali Hassan openly boasted of this nickname.

I love WMDs they are my speciality.

  16. Chemical Ali Says:

180,000 Kurds they took up too much space anyway.

  17. Tobey Tall Says:

Told you so, U.N. Iraq arms inspectors’ report says

  18. Eskwaya Says:

No matter. There will still be Santorums and others who will continue to insist that the WMD and he must have snuck them out under cover of darkness when no one was looking. You’ll see. 50 years from now, they will still insist that Saddam had the WMD.

  19. Chemical Ali Says:

US did not find any WMDs because I hid them under my bed. :D

    Allah Akubar!!!!

  20. Jay Randal Says:

  29. Crump's Brother Says:

  31. Chemical Ali Says:

    Crumps,
you and me together with your US military dollars we can continue in our work for Allah. I would have continued killing even if the US had not gone to war with my people. It’s how we do things over here. We control thru fear and death sorry that upsets you.

    Witch Hunt - Rush - 1981

The night is black, without a moon.
The air is thick and still.
    The vigilantes gather on
    The lonely torch lit hill.

Features distorted in the flickering light,
    Faces are twisted and grotesque.
Silent and stern in the sweltering night,
The mob moves like demons possessed.
Quiet in conscience, calm in their right,
    Confident their ways are best.

    The righteous rise
    With burning eyes
    Of hatred and ill-will.
Madmen fed on fear and lies
To beat and burn and kill.

They say there are strangers who threaten us,
    Our immigrants and infidels.
They say there is strangeness to danger us
In our theaters and bookstore shelves,
That those who know whats best for us
Must rise and save us from ourselves.

    Quick to judge,
    Quick to anger,
    Slow to understand
    Ignorance and prejudice
And fear walk hand in hand.

    Chemical Ali,

“We control thru fear and death sorry that upsets you.”

Wow! Just like our President does! Congrats!!

  36. Ben Dover Says:

In actuality, the search for weapons of mass deception was over in the mid-1990s. We just needed a coked up cowboy masquerading as a president to get the search going again. My guess is that each night before he says his prayers, little Georgie thanks “god” for making his dad sell the WMDs to Saddam in the first place so little Georgie had something to act like he was a tough guy. Isn’t the American body count up to 3,560 or so kids who have died in Iraqnam for this lie?

  37. Spudge_Boy Says:

Arrogant because he was good friends of Ronald Reagan and Donald Rumsfeld. Arrogant because he was put into power by the US republicans.

    Way to go.

And he was not involved in 9/11. Bush started this war. idiot.

kids? why do you send kids?

  42. Chemical Ali Says:

We loved Bubba as you called him. He let us alone. Great President and sax player too.

  43. Ben Dover Says:

#42. Ask the Chimp in Chief why we send kids. He’s the tough guy who started the illegal war.

  44. Ret. Col. Jack Ripper Says:

Chemical Ali: “By 1988, some 4,000 villages had been destroyed, an estimated 180,000 Kurds had been killed and some 1.5 million had been deported.”

I think we’re discussing the year 2002 and whether or not there were WMD’s then. The answer is no, so the invasion of Iraq was staged under false pretenses. What is it about that that you don’t understand?

  45. Chemical Ali Says:

I love you Americans so technical 1998? 2002? who cares if we kill our own.
I am glad you see it my way Jack Ripper. Glad to see you are not offended by my gassing of the Kurds. They are not missed.

  46. Chemical Ali Says:

Col Jack Ripper what is a WMD? Is there a manual? I need to keep up on these things. How many people need to be terminated 10, 1000, 10,000, 100,000. Can I google it?
    thanks for your help
    Ali

  47. BARTLEBEE Says:

No weapons of mass destruction ay?

Didn’t Scott Ritter and the rest of the inspectors tell us that 5 years ago?

  48. Pete Bogs Says:

that was our mission over there, so let the troop pullout begin!

  49. BARTLEBEE Says:

    Hey Chemical Ali.

Berfore you talk about killing Americans, you might need some of the following items.

    1. An intact modernized Army

    2. Some WMD’s.

    3. An intricate orbital targeting system

    4. Long range ICBM’s capable of covering half the globe to reach us

    5. A Navy capable of travelling beyond “brownwater”.

    6. A long range Air Force

When you acquire all of these things, then give us a call.

Of course, since we have 100 times more of these things allready, and ours have had decades of enhancements and refinements and are technologically superior to anything you can come up with, we’ll blow you off the face of the planet, but hey, at least then we’ll have something to shoot at.

  50. BARTLEBEE Says:

    Question.

How big of a snibbling coward, does an American have to be, to be afraid of a tiny country in the middle east with NO Navy, No long range Air Force, no modernized conventional Army, no Nukes, no method to deliver nukes even if they did have them, and no satellite targeting system even if they did have a method to deliver them?

    How big?

  51. margaret Says:

I bet that if you took a poll today at least 40% of those responding would say that they still believe that there’s WMDs in Iraq.

There was a recent poll (last week) in which over 40% of the respondents said that they believe that Iraq had something to do with 9/11. How brainwashed are they?!

And I just found a recent (this past week) CNN poll in which 42% said that Yes-the US action in Iraq is “morally justified”! Morally justified?! Based on what?! What kind of drugs are these people taking?

    http://i.a.cnn.net/ cnn/ 2007/ images/ 06/ 26/ rel7c.pdf

Iraq did NOT have any WMDs.
Iraq had NOTHING to do with 9/11.
The US had NO BUSINESS invading and occupying Iraq.
We are NOT SAFER as a result of US actions in the Middle East.

And the US is certainly NOT “morally” justified to be doing anything in Iraq!

    Stop the killing!

  52. Not Canadian Says:

    BARTLEBEE,

    They’re not cowards, they’re war-mongering, opportunists a$$holes!

  53. Jackie Says:

No matter what the UN says Americans will believe President Cheney who says the WMDs are in Iraq. He has proof as little Ricky Santorum has seen them with his Harry Potter wand. So that lie that was told to Americans by the White House will some day come true if you close your eyes, tap your heals and say I believe the Dickster I believe the Dickster. Yes Americans are again made to look stupid by following the lies and never asking questions. Now yes Bill Clinton will be at fault as he has lead us to 6 years of this mess. But Joe Wilson did try as the White House and the media spin the truth. Let’s thank Libby for his part in allowing thousands of our soldiers to die based on the White House lies. Americans would rather believe and follow the Liar-in-Chief President Dick Cheney then have the truth come out. Yes all the families who lost love ones in this invasion still praise the White House for a job well done and wish to continue the killings until the job is completed. More soldiers have to die because the dead soldiers have to have died for a reason. How many dead soldiers will be enough for the grieving families and the White House.

  54. TerrytheTurtle Says:

Paris Hilton found Jesus - that’s quite q stunt. Let her have a go at the WMD.

  55. Tobey Tall Says:

suprised America did not use its Veto power

does that mean I can import pistacio nutz from iraq now then and we can now send medical aid and food and damages money

  56. JEP Says:

…oh, but they DID find a weapon of mass death in Iraq… And it was the real reason we went to war..

    It’s called OIL!!!

  57. JEP Says:

Is Chemical Ali also know on other blogs as “King of Zouk,?” he sure smells similar… nothing more than provocatuers and shady operatives, vying to get a pat on the head from the neocons…

I bet Ali brags about his ludicrous posts fo his friends…

Oh, and as for foreign-sounding names, is it true that “Tony Snow” translates in farsi to “Tariq Aziz?”

  58. croatoan Says:

While Bush was getting us bogged down in Iraq, he took his eye of the ball and let North Korea develop nuclear weapons.

  59. Chemical Ali Says:

When you acquire all of these things, then give us a call.

Of course, since we have 100 times more of these things allready, and ours have had decades of enhancements and refinements and are technologically superior to anything you can come up with, we’ll blow you off the face of the planet, but hey, at least then we’ll have something to shoot at.

I say that US govt pull 9/11.

Who wants to bet I get to 3-0?

  62. Chemical Ali Says:

I’m glad Americans do not consider 180,000 dead Kurd a
WMD. Now just leave Irag so we can get to business of Allah.

  63. Chemical Ali Says:

We have a special sale on Oil this week too. Iraqi crude the best!

  64. Chemical Ali Says:

    Hey Chemical Ali

    Comment by BARTLEBEE

    Aha Barkbeetle,
We do not think as good as you, but we are creative (9/11).
There are many ways to kill Americans. You borders are very open to us.
Maybe when you get your new Democratic President we will be back in business as usual. London is full of our people. You will submit to Allah.
We are not afraid of US. Death is Allah’s will for us. You do not understand.
Yes, US is full of snibbling cowards like yourself.

  65. Paul in LA Says:

Shutting down the UN inspection teams is a BAD THING, since Bushco distributed tens of thousands of tons of dual-use high explosives, nuclear material (including cesium and strontium), munitions, and precision machine tools.

With the UN not there doing inspection — in whatever way is possible under US occupation — Bushco has an even freer hand in covering up their fomenting of civil war and terrorism thoughout the ME.

Given ThinkProgress’ lying slander of Aristide earlier in the week, I am not surprised that TP has done NO independent thinking on this issue, and is simply following the ‘outrage’ about wasted funding for UN teams — when Bushco’s illegal predation on Iraq has cost a trillion dollars and made the NEED for UN inspection higher than ever.

  66. Paul in LA Says:

I cannot believe that people are actually responding to the Chemical Ali troll.

Must be a slow news day.

Rightwingers pretending to be terrorists … no need to pretend any more. A million dead in Iraq, and more to come in Iran, if we don’t catch a break from a resurrected legal system.

  67. Flaco Says:

    UN is irrelevant. Has been.

  68. Flaco Says:

A million dead in Iraq? Paul did you do the math or just round off to the nearest million?
