Yep,
And because the bombing took PLACE at a temple, we can automatically assume that those responsible were religious and targeting religion rather than waiting on the facts of the case or even venturing a guess that the tourists were the target.
What? What about PLO? Those are not the bad guys anymore? What about Taliban? They were good, now bad again? What about Hezbollah? Those are bad guys now, but when they were fighting PLO they were good, right?

Libs, here’s the point. This terrorist act proves why we are fighting the war on terrorism in Afghan and Iraq. If you’re not able to comprehend my statement, please let me know. Here is my question. Do you want another terrorist attack near you city/neighborhood?

Justice, I refuse to call you names. Open your eyes, Justice. We are not trying to demolish Islamic terrorism. We are trying to stop terrorism, in general. Please read G. Gordon Liddy’s book, “Fighting Terrorism Liddy Style”. More groups like Al Queda are recruiting people from Western nations.
“Do you want another terrorist attack near you city/neighborhood?”
This is a straw-man argument. DO you really think that we ‘libs’ want terror atteacks to happen? Really?
We just disagree on the best to deal with the problem. I of the thought that dropping bombs on peoples houses, just tends to piss people off more. Now using good intel to get good info on those who may do this, is a good way to go.
Remember that after 9-11, the Islamic world was with us in denouncing that attack.
We need to work with the moderates in the Islamic world to try to get their ‘extreme’ elements under control. Terror will never be defeated because it is merely a tactic. A tactic that our founders used to help win the Revolutionary war.
But we can attempt to win hearts and minds and to let others know that we do care for them. Jesus’s message right? We can let them know that we are reasonable, and willing to hear them out. Are we willing to defend ourselves, of course, but we are not the barbarians that this administration has made us look like to the rest of the world.
We have become a shoot first and ask questions later nation under this President. ANd that’s not what the world expects from us. We can do better.

Wow, such compassion from a pseudo (c)hristian. Is that what your cult preaches?
Meanwhile, true Christians pray for the victims, and their families, and also for peace.
You? Obviously that love thy neighbor thingy that was of second most importance taught be Jesus? Again, your cult must not preach that.
Finally, were it not you sometime last week throwing a hissy fit because a poster referred to himself as “black”?
Yet you refer to gangsta slang as “ebonics”?
What the hell is wrong with you?
Get thee to an all male bath house, ASAP!!!
Well, Daryll and unbelievable, you deserve each other. This attack has everything to do with “nationalism” and nothing to do with religion.
Read the story here! The temple is ancient –3000 years and to gods or goddesses no longer worshipped. It’s a museum. 6 of the 8 killed were tourists, probably from Spain. It’s an attack on Westerners.
Now, the Islamophobes of this world need to know this is all about nationalism and economics. It’s NOT about religion.
unbelievable has to drop the axe she loves to grind. And Daryll, well, he has to drop the racist, jingoist sh!t. People are slapping labels on each other trying to form a Team. It just muddies the issue. There is no War on Terror. What we have is a geo-political conflict which we are being dishonest about.
I really have little to quarrel about with unbelievable, but Daryll is clearly shredding his Christian morals to become an assassin for Jesus.
This is exactly why MuslimShiteaters ™ can not be trusted in Iraq. They will start destroying cool temples and shit which are part of the world’s history. Similar to the way the Taliban bombed the giant Buddhas in Afganistan.

We have individuals in the U.S. funding terrorist cells and organizations, but I don’t see us bombing ourself…do you?
Daryll, did you know that many organizations now labelled as ‘terrorists’ were not so labelled until after 9/11? And yet people who gave to these ‘charities’ were damned just the same whether they stopped giving or not.

Civilian deaths are a part of war. Also, war existed in the old and new testament.

So, tell me again how exactly these bombings are linked to sectarian violence? Or are the ’sects’ of which you speak Spaniards and all those of Middle Eastern descent?
You may well be correct that this is some sort of overflow from Iraq, but calling it secattrian civil war is …well… unbelievable.
An Iraqi junior doctor and a brilliant neurologist working for the NHS are among the suspects being quizzed over the series of bomb attacks across Britain, it emerged today.
Give me scripture where God supported abortion.
Comment by Daryll — July 2, 2007 @ 1:03 pm
You mean you haven’t memorized the entire book? But, okay, I’ll give you several:
Hosea 9:11-16 Hosea prays for God’s intervention. “Ephraim shall bring forth his children to the murderer. Give them, 0 Lord: what wilt thou give? Give them a miscarrying womb and dry breasts. . .Ephraim is smitten, their root is dried up, they shall bear no fruit: yea though they bring forth, yet will I slay even the beloved fruit of their womb.†Clearly Hosea desires that the people of Ephraim can no longer have children. God of course obeys by making all their unborn children miscarry. Is not terminating a pregnancy unnaturally “abortion
Numbers 5:11-21 The description of a bizarre, brutal and abusive ritual to be performed on a wife SUSPECTED of adultery. This is considered to be an induced abortion to rid a woman of another man’s child.
Numbers 31:17 (Moses) “Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every women that hath known man by lying with him.†In other words: women that might be pregnant, which clearly is abortion for the fetus.
Hosea 13:16 God promises to dash to pieces the infants of Samaria and the “their women with child shall be ripped upâ€. Once again this god kills the unborn, including their pregnant mothers.
2 Kings 15:16 God allows the pregnant women of Tappuah (aka Tiphsah) to be “ripped openâ€. And the Christians have the audacity to say god is pro-life. How and the hell is it that Christians can read passages where God allows pregnant women to be murdered, yet still claim abortion is wrong?
You may well be correct that this is some sort of overflow from Iraq, but calling it civil war is …well… unbelievable.
Comment by SGT Higgins — July 2, 2007 @ 1:05 pm

# 49 – You just said I might be correct —- yes, ‘might’ unbel, it’s called ‘benefit of the doubt’…. not all the facts are known yet. Calling the bombing of tourists from SPAIN sectarian violence seems a bit of a stretch at this point….but hey, whatever floats your boat.
and then insulted me for having said it. — where was the insult? I mean, if you want one, I’d be more than happy to supply one…or 12.

But you’ve never been an Atheist to compare, so you really have no experiences of your own to use as a basis for judgement, do you?

Comment by Flaco — July 2, 2007 @ 2:00 pm
No, I definitely was a Christian. Unlike most Christians, I actually did go to church… I didn’t read the bible though, I just accepted what the priest said that it said…
I truly believed in the Christian god, Jesus as my savior and eternity.
I just don’t anymore. Same as you can truly love someone and then fall out of love with them.
I believed because I was ignorant of the truth. Once I began to discover the truth, I had to let go of my belief system that conflicted with it. It was hard, because I really was a true believer. I wanted to believe.
I understand what you believe, Flaco. I really do. I just choose to reject it now, because I found something that I like better. And I do know that you can’t understand that, as I couldn’t understand it when I was a Christian. But you’ll just have to accept that I, unlike you and those like you, have walked on both sides of the fence, and have chosen this side.
I probably can’t explain it to you. But, if you will just accept that it is my right to be an Atheist, I won’t need to point out the gaping holes in the religion your side tries to force on me and those like me. It really is that simple… Think about it.

unbelievable you kind of resemble the Pharisees a little. Always trying to trick Jesus but he knew what they were up to.
Comment by Flaco — July 2, 2007 @ 2:07 pm
Not at all. I’m just defending myself by explaining why Atheists reject your religion specifically (since I’ve never had anyone non-Christian try to convert me back). It’s about showing the reasons that I reject Christianity, so that I am those like me will be left alone. And, from the current temperature, it seems to be working… Which is why you’re trying to call me the Devil. Fine I don’t believe in devils or demons either.
I don’t care if you convert, or decide to believe in magical unicorns instead. I just care about your side not persecuting or harassing my side because we don’t want to believe the silly stuff your side believes. Belief doesn’t work for everyone.
There are so many things you do not understand about the universe yet that does not keep you from formulating a belief of your own.
You say you want scientific proof but even you and Carl Sagan do not fully understand nor can you provide proof of the origins. It is a belief not verifiable in a lab. You go on “faith”
That is what I am trying to tell you. You never believe in God in the first place hence your name unbelievable.
Comment by Flaco — July 2, 2007 @ 2:19 pm
Yes I did. I very much believed in your god for the majoirty of my life. In fact, I’m 40 now and have only been an Atheist for about 3 of those years. 4 years prior to that, I was in transition where I wasn’t sure, leaving me with 33 years of bonafide god-belief.
I did believe in a god. My parents taught me to believe in one, and I never questioned it until I realized one morning that faith might have been foolish. Turned out, it is…
There are so many things you do not understand about the universe yet that does not keep you from formulating a belief of your own.
There’s really not that much anymore. And there are some things our human brains are not capable of understanding – like eternity.
You say you want scientific proof but even you and Carl Sagan do not fully understand nor can you provide proof of the origins. It is a belief not verifiable in a lab. You go on “faithâ€
Comment by Flaco — July 2, 2007 @ 2:25 pm
Actually, Flaco, it is verifiable in the existing universe.
There are all sorts of observable stages of life in the universe that we can look at it in the same regard to which we look at humans in various stages of life, and then string them together into something that is verifiable and logical.
Logic plays a part in it. We know that certain laws of physics are constant, and that all things in the universe must follow them. That allows us to fill in some gaps. Others we admit exist, but they are becoming smaller and smaller each year.
Faith actually has nothing to do with it. Nothing at all.
… I just care about your side not persecuting or harassing my side because we don’t want to believe the silly stuff your side believes. Belief doesn’t work for everyone.

Go read ‘Cosmos’ by Carl Sagan, ‘Atheist Universe’ by David Mills, ‘The Blind Watchmaker’ by Richard Dawkins ‘A brief History of Time” by Stephen Hawking and ‘God The Failed Hypothesis’ by Victor Stenger. Then you will possess the same knowledge I do, which cannot be summed up in a few words.
Ah, unbelievable, how nice to see you turn a tread –and it was you who did it from the first post. You’ve got your God Reason, who is just as bad as Daryll’s jealous maniac. And, I repeat, you two deserve each other.
This thread was about a bombing in Yemen –neat how you pretended you didn’t make a mistake about place by saying the war in Iraq is also in Yemen. The attack was on a museum –not a church, or a synagogue, or a mosque. In most attacks on tourists, the terrorist’s objective is to punish the government which makes considerable money from the tourist trade.
I did post a link that explained what happened, but you were too busy burning the theists at the stake. How like a Rationalist!
I don’t think this had anything to do with sectarian violence. Indeed, I suspect the sectarian violence in Iraq itself is fueled by the Pentagon in the hopes of dividing the population.
And what’s with this goofy challenge to define the neologism “acerebralist”??? It doesn’t make much sense. But then that’s true of much of your Rationalism 101. You don’t really care to scientifically define who was killed in Yemen and why or what is the best course to take in the Middle East. No, you just care about ticking off Daryll and Flaco or whoever seems to still believe in that Nobodaddy in the sky that got your knickers in a knot so long ago.
Acerebralist, noun, a person who doesn’t believe metaphysical or supernatural experiences come from the mind. But, as in most negative formations, it really doesn’t define anything. The acerebralist might believe in a personal god or in nothing at all. The term is just too vague. It offers no clarity or precision as a word –not unless one cares to attach an entire philosophy to it.
In this definition it is like “atheist” or “agnostic”. Neither noun clearly defines a person’s standpoint but merely excludes one aspect. An atheist does with god, but does so on faith alone as it is not a provable or disprovable position. What an atheist then thinks of the world remains unclear and, indeed, the types of atheists are legion. An agnostic acknowledges the unsolveable nature of “belief”, but prefers to proceed then without passing judgement.
You will find that the USA is not an Theist or Atheist state, but, according to the First Amendment, it is an Agnostic state.
Again limited knowledge no complete proof – you cannot possible know all about the universe as you claim – unless your are god?
Comment by Flaco — July 2, 2007 @ 4:54 pm
You cannot claim that until you’ve actually read those books. And I know you won’t.
I didn’t claim to know everything. Scroll back. I only claimed to know enough to be convinced that gods are neither necessaery nor likely.
Old Testatment- “The fool says in their heart there is no Godâ€.
Comment by Flaco — July 2, 2007 @ 4:59 pm
Of course it says that. It wants you to accept is as an authority. Prove that it is what people claim it is, and not just a book written by men who wanted to control other people…
It also says a lot of other things that are ludicrious, violent and contradictory. It’s not a very good book if you read the whole thing, and not just pull out passages that please you.
What do you use to fill in the gaps? guess? science or psuedo-science, belief
Provable? not likely. How big are these gaps?
Flaco, it is clear by your mischaracterizations that you don’t understand Science and don’t want to.
You feel better buying into a really silly fairytale. If that works for you, have at it. It doesn’t work for thinking people, however, and you’ll just have to accept that, because the reality is that more people each year give up religion.
Carl Sagan, David Mills, Richard Dawkins, Stephen Hawking, Victor Stenger

Just an eternity of mass-energy that can neither be created nor destroyed that, when it interacts with itself, evolves. That simple. No wordy book necessary. Ockham’s Razor.

you are dumb as a rock. The bombing ATTEMPTS and the bomb in Glasgow were connected and have NOTHING TO DO with Islamic terrorists you moron. Do a little research and educate yourself about what you are speaking on before you spout off your obviously wrong rhetoric.
You wingers are such a bunch of chickesh*t babies, afraid of everything, you think any action is related to alQueda. You are as dumb as this president, and that is as dumb as it gets.
Comment by Justice — July 2, 2007 @ 11:39 am
Justice, I refuse to call you names. Open your eyes, Justice. We are not trying to demolish Islamic terrorism. We are trying to stop terrorism, in general. Please read G. Gordon Liddy’s book, “Fighting Terrorism Liddy Style”. More groups like Al Queda are recruiting people from Western nations.
July 2nd, 2007 at 11:52 amDaryll,
“Do you want another terrorist attack near you city/neighborhood?”

July 2nd, 2007 at 12:03 pmWell, Daryll and unbelievable, you deserve each other.

We have individuals in the U.S. funding terrorist cells and organizations, but I don’t see us bombing ourself…do you?
July 2nd, 2007 at 12:07 pmYes and this happens in Iraq every day in many locations. 18 killed is a pittance compared to Iraq’s daily toll of carnage. Yemen is lucky so far.

Nothing at all.

unbelievable you quote the bible / fairy tale book like it is suppose to be followed. If it is a fairy tale why do you quote it so much?
You need to come up with your own atheist rules/religion/belief system.
You are persecuting people of faith.
Read some or your posts deary.
See ya
July 2nd, 2007 at 2:35 pmFlaco – you could be right.
I’m just willing to bet against it…
And I want the hypocritical Christians in this country to ACCEPT that, respect that, and leave the Constitution alone. That’s all.
Until that happens, I will continue to point out why god-belief is foolish.

Nope. The minority cannot oppress the majority. I’m simply defending myself, and others like me. You’ve just been taught to play the victim to get your way because our culture sides with those who cry victim the loudest…

No it isn’t.

July 2nd, 2007 at 5:17 pmAh, unbelievable, how nice to see you turn a tread –and it was you who did it from the first post.

You cannot claim that until you’ve actually read those books. And I know you won’t.
I didn’t claim to know everything. Scroll back. I only claimed to know enough to be convinced that gods are neither necessaery nor likely.

They are Muslim and committed terrorist acts but the acts have nothing to do with Islamic terrorists? You need to take your own advice, bud. “Do a little research and educate yourself about what you are speaking on before you spout off your obviously wrong rhetoric.” Perhaps you meant to say the authorities have yet to find a connection between these terrorists and a known terrorist organization. ;)
