Since the suit had to do with knowing who "outted" Valerie Plame, and this over-jealous, seemingly vindictive prosecutor knew that Richard Armitage was the one, I think Fitzgerald commited perjury!
And then there is Bill Clinton wondering freely doing the political circuit earning big bucks and his wife, who under oath, said any number of times, "I can't remember". Sandy Berger who stole classified documents, stuffing them in his pants!, no less, who got a slap on the wrist. Democrats wonder happily on the streets which I consider injustice at its worst!!!!!!??????

I am 54. I watched Vietnam as a young teen. I now know the Gulf of Tonkin never happened. "He" was a democrat. Now we have generation II in his Tradgic Flaw. As a democrat there was too much evidence to deny he was clean: too many fingers. Where does that leave us with George II when Bruce Fein, author of Clinton's impeachment, insists on weighing in?

It is obvious that Fitzgerald went afer Libby because Libby is Jewish. Fitzgerald uses such terms as "Talmudic Dissection"
concerning Libby's appeal. He did not go after Armitage since Armitage is not a member of the Jewish people whom Fitzpatrck and Judge Walton seek to persecute. Thak God, President Bush knows bigotry when he sees it.

Fitzgerald set out to do the right for his country. And if turns out he wasted four years of his life. I'm sure he can find another way to go at this thing. we the people would like to see an honest conclusion.

Instead of making wild ass guesses about what your authority figure might do next, explain why he didn’t pardon him. He has the authority to do so, now why would he not exercise that option instead of leaving him with a criminal record?

Bush's statement explains that clearly. He thought the prison term was excessive, but the fine was appropriate.

"The President may require the opinion, in writing, of the principal officer in each of the executive departments, upon any subject relating to the duties of their respective officers.'' This I consider as a mere redundancy in the plan, as the right for which it provides would result of itself from the office.

He is also to be authorized to grant ``reprieves and pardons for offenses against the United States, EXCEPT IN CASES OF IMPEACHMENT.''

Everyone Calls Him "Scooter"; Isn't That Punishment Enough?

Here's my take on Scooter Libby:

Scooter Libby was specially targeted and given a harsh sentence because he's closely associated with the President. He then got much of the sentence commuted because he's closely associated with the President.

The system works.

On 28th October 2005 Fitzgerald's grand jury issued five felony indictments against Lewis Libby -- perjury, obstruction of justice, and lying to federal officials. Fitzgerald's investigation of the Plame leak cost less than $1M up to the time the indictment was issued. By contrast, Ken Starr's investigation of the far less serious Whitewater scandal of the Clinton administration cost $70M.

Thanks, Hellinabucket, but I can't accept any of the thanks at all.
All of the words above the hyperlink are from Barbara Jordan's speech. I merely removed some Watergate references and highlighted some key points which still stand true (I should have said, "emphasis mine")
Every patriot should read or listen to that speech... though it wouldn't matter with to the GOP - they should just be honest and call themselves what they really are: Al Qaeda in America.

Hell, the traitors have more than ruined the country and these 29%ers dance around in jubilation like some in the Middle East did when we were attacked on 9/11.

I wonder how many trolls here honestly believe that W would do the same to save their hides, even if they WERE innocent. I really wonder. Because I know a lot of them just make noise for the sake of making noise. But I wonder how many are actually of the mindset that justice was served and anybody else (at least any other conservative) would get the same treatment?

I first thought this was a bad thing but then I looked at the "whole picture." This is not going to help Republicans in the long run. Yes, Libby gets to live his corrupt little life free from prison. But from a "big picture" standpoint, this helps Democrats in the future. Rich whiny white men who do corrupt things do not get sympathy from the general public. Commuting this sentence angers sensible people and further motivates them to make change in our government. Right now, conservative != change. This was a political mistake that Bush made to save his and Cheney's hides. I can already hear the phone call from Libby, "If you don't do something, I'm talking. "
