Why is TP making a big deal over someone beginning a non-government job? I couldn’t care if President Bush picked up the “visiting scholar” title as a second job. It’s non-news.
Would you like to see all political opponents unemployed, TP? It’s a job, not a luxury. It’s now commonplace for former top Republican figures to be employed with AEI.
It is a non-government job. The democrat party must has their own favored interest groups to siphon influence. And judging from the “informational” posts in this thread, there’s not much to write home about. Your definition of information, please?
Mr. Wolfowitz became known for his advocacy of reform and political openness and for his interest in development issues,
along with his interest in women, which he recently got fired for over promoting his girlfriend along with such an enormous raise that even those who helped place him in the position turned against him.
AEI is the embryonic stage of Neoturdism. AEI had to hire poor Fred Thompson to help him put food on the table after bad acting led him to unemployment.
AEI will employ any Neoturd in trouble. Bar none. It’s the safety net for those who remain enthralled with Neoturdism.
AEI should be investigated with a fine tooth comb. Who knows what lies beneath the slick corporate logo & mealy mouthed misogynists?
It may be a non-story, Dean, but informative as we look to AEI and it’s alum.
AEI has emerged as one of the leading architects of the second Bush administration’s public policy.[2] More than twenty AEI alumni have served either in a Bush administration policy post or on one of the government’s many panels and commissions.[3] Lynne Cheney, wife of Vice President Richard Cheney, is an AEI Senior Fellow.
The Guardian reports that AEI “has received more than $1.6m from ExxonMobil, and more than 20 of its staff have worked as consultants to the Bush administration. Lee Raymond, a former head of ExxonMobil, is (or was) the vice-chairman of AEI’s board of trustees,”
It isn’t a non-story. The surge policy was concocted at AEI by Frederick Kagan and others. AEI has become a quasi-government advisory group to the Bush administration.
Righties are always trying to force unions to get their members’ permission before spending dues on advocacy.
It’s rather more appropriate that corporations be required to get shareholders’ permission to dump buckets of cash into these “think” tanks. The companies are, after all, their shareholders’ property, and this essentially amounts to a theft from the executives from the shareholders, as donations to these “institutes” have nothing to do with the proper operations of the businesses that donate to them.
We all need to do our parts to make sure that EACH AND EVERY PERSON aligned with this administration is TURNED INTO THE PARIAH that they deserve to be.
Seems to be an increase in troll activity on the TP threads during the day now. It used to be just the evening hours. Karl Rove wants the threads buried in troll droppings.
Damn. CT thinks he can tell us what is a story and what isn’t. Well, if this isn’t a story, CT, move along. We’ll talk about this not-story while you and yours do the Nations work. ;)

chimpy and scholar is an oxymoron…you need to use another example here.
Mr. Wolfowitz joined American Enterprise Institution (AEI) after spending more than three decades in public service and higher education. Most recently, he served as president of the World Bank and deputy secretary of defense. As ambassador to Indonesia, Mr. Wolfowitz became known for his advocacy of reform and political openness and for his interest in development issues, which dates back to his doctoral dissertation on water desalination in the Middle East. At AEI, Mr. Wolfowitz will be working on development issues.

“Visiting” scholar” means the NeoCons just drop in and flap their lips with absurdities, take no responsibility when things go badly, question even a video of their erroneous advice and then forget they were there giving that bad advice. “Visiting” too, because they are good at vacations and all tenuous stuff.
Heckovajob, Wolfie!

AEI wrote the new surge plan titled “Choosing Victory”.
They meet with Lieberman and McCain often to discuss…whatever.
Fred Thompson is a “Fellow” with AEI.
And their NeoCon fingerprint are all over the Office of Special Plans and the gear-up misinformation to the war.
Yeah, this is a non-issue. Maybe for people with no information.
