    That’s damn good news.

Reporters have been taking a beating in the last six years – the most deadly era to be a journalist.

Well done, Hamas – well done!

I watch BBC World News on PBS every night, and the Alan Johnston story has been a major story over there. It would be as if Tom Brokaw had been captured and held hostage. Whenever there was some new detail on his condition or whereabouts, it was always their lead story.

Here in the U.S., five Marines can be killed in an ambush, and the story runs second on the evening news after the release of Paris Hilton.

This is wonderful news. It can’t be said enough. Johnston was the only reporter based in Gaza willing to tell the truth about life there and those stupid kidnappers held him hostage so he couldn’t tell those truths. How utterly counterproductive.

It’s shameful that I’ve never heard of this story until just now.

Hamas did the right thing. I was glad BBC allowed people from around to world to sign and write a note to Hamas. Alan only wanted to tell their side of the story because the media was only reporting the White House story. Hamas was voted in office by the people but rejected because that’s not who Bush wanted in office. Now Hamas can see for the current action in the USA that the American people have a Dictator now. I hope the Saudi realize that the White House are liars and work like the Mafia.

You appear to have just suggested that Hamas and the Saudis may develop an unfavourable opinion about the corrupt totalitarian US administration based on something they have witnessed.

What about Kim Jong Il ? Will he decide that the US hasn’t done enough to address the poverty of its citizens ?

  14. Kolin says:

I think it’s immoral to capture correspondent especially in such hot places like Gaza. I’m happy that conflict is settled.

You think they’re only just seeing this now?

Our Public Radio station broadcasts the BBC overnite , from midnight till 5 am. I have been following the Alan Johnston kidnapping story since it happened. Their international news coverage is unsurpassed. Very educational for us insomniacs/early risers.
Now that Hamas is RESPONSIBLE for Gaza, and its Monumental problems, they are likely to be more Practical and less Ideological. Without help from the outside world, they are in big trouble.

Now if only the Al Jazeera reporter kidnapped by the US could be released from Gitmo.
