Land sale to Rep. Ken Calvert violated the law.»

The sale of 4 acres of public land to Rep. Ken Calvert (R-CA) and his investment partners by the Jurupa Community Services District in 2005 violated California state law, according to a grand jury report released yesterday. The report said that the group should have first offered the land to other public agencies, including the local park district that wanted it.

Ideally, it is non-partisan. But for some reason, Republicans are intimidtaed by progress and they do everything in their power (legal and not) to thwart it.

Happy July 4th, and to all the non-trolls at TP (You know who you are :D), and to the trolls, blast off!

Will be interesting to see if the land gets turned into the purpose for which it was willed. What are the odds that this Republic rep. will do the right thing?

Ha ha. I crack me up.

The purchase of a 10 foot strip of land to increase the size of his yard?

Were they radical Islamic feet of land? Did the feet immediately register to vote Dem?

  15. david Says:

Ah, poor Troll, trying to deflect attention by pointing the finger elsewhere.

Senator Feinstein has resigned from the MilCon subcommittee and she’s also been fined. I have no problem in criticizing her and her conflicts of interest. However, there is no proof that her husband’s companies were not qualified to provide the military and she was in the minority on the committee.

Senator Obama’s scandal is a non-starter. Trying to backdate charges made against Rezko to events that happened almost ten years ago is lame. What’s more: Obama is not making excuses for Rezko –unlike this White House’s leniency toward Scooter Libby.

Thats 10 X 150 and it was’nt the land but rather who he got it from that is the issue

  19. Troll Says:

    David
Both issues should be investigated fully and reported on. That is the demand that would be made if it were republican involved.

Again I have no interest in defending corrupt republicans I only wish for the readers here at TP to recieve a little balance. Both parties are corrupt. And

    Government is the enemy.

  21. The Republic of Stupidity Says:

    Comment by Troll

Yes, and Barak has publically acknowldeged buying it was a mistake, and he didn’t turn around and sell it a huge profit. If Barak’s land deal was such a huge scandal, why aren’t Rush and Dild O’Reilly blowing it out both ends of their bodies daily?

Same w/ Sandy Berger. He pled guilty to a misdemeanor - ADMITTED his guilt, unlike almost ALL busted repubs. the judge in the Libby case handed down the stiff sentence because he felt Scooter DESERVED it.

(Judge Walton was nominated by BUSH, BTW. I bet KKKarl felt burned over that one. Uh, can Brusch fire judges too?)

  22. Briseadh na Faire Says:

The new rubric of the Rule of Law is: It’s only wrong if you can’t get away with it.

Bush has shown that, if you’re Republican, you can get away with it. Why? Because Impeachment is off the table. In fact, the only thing on the table is money. Lots of money.

Investigating, trying, convicting and sentencing Republicans is a waste of taxpayer dollars.

Today, we “celebrate” Independence Day under a new King George; a Unitary Executive who overrules the legislative and judicial branches at His pleasure.

Today is a good day to fly the American Flag at half mast, and upside down.

It would take much more than that. Most people don’t want to confront their own dark side, and thus blind themselves to seeing the darkness that resides in the hearts of men (and women).

And behold, the darkness is growing in strength. Its price is the blood of innocents, its reward is perverse satisfaction, yet never ending hunger for more; more wealth, more power, more destruction. It is an addiction which cannot be satiated nor cured. Truth is its enemy, and so it wraps itself in lies and calls the lies the truth. And those who would not look into the darkness, bask in the darkness of lies.

To those who understand these words, Namaste.

Sorry to go OT, but that reminded me of the joke about the pirate captain.

Whenever his lookout spotted another ship, he would call it out. The captain would come up, take a look, and yell, “Bring me my red shirt!” Later he was asked why he always did that.

He replied, “I wear my red shirt so that if I am wounded in battle, the sight of blood on my shirt will not dishearten my crew.”

The next day, the lookout shouted that more ships were spotted. “I count twenty!” he said.

The captain came out, took a look, and yelled, “Bring me my brown pants!”

  33. Briseadh na Faire Says:

    From Troll’s article:

There have been no allegations that Obama, whose political fortunes are soaring as he mulls a run for president, broke the law or committed any ethics violations.

In other words, it is a contrived controversy.

From the looks of it, Troll would condemn Jesus Christ for consorting with sinners. Looking back there were trolls at the time that did just that.

Psychobable from a psycho. I dont need to be a tree to figuratively see one in forest. If that is what you are implying.

What lies beneath the mask of the government is evil and fear. It takes some seriously large ego to run for President. Persons with this large a sense of self importance certainly run a high risk of corruption no matter what political party they belong to. And history is witness to this facts. Clergy, politicians, people of all walks are prone to it. The Church cannot forcibly take anyones money or belongings but government can. And the more it takes the more it wants and for what?
It takes more now than ever and are we better served? NO. Have we won the war on poverty? NO. Is public Education any better despite the fact that we continue to increase the percentage spent on it. NO. What do we get? Shafted. By an impersonal federal gov that is unaccountable. my vote is one of 300 million it mens nothing to them. And the partys represent two sides of the same coin. People who truly wish to be free must make be commited to limiting the fed gov or we will certainly suffer. It will be our master.

You see, but you do not understand. You are blinded by your own knowledge.

If you truly seek freedom, you must begin by accepting the proposition that everything you now know is false. Can you let go your ego to that degree?

Or will you continue to protect your ego by dismissing those who show another path as psychos?

Remember, the prophets of old were derided, just as you deride me.

  38. Briseadh na Faire Says:

    More ethically disturbed Congressional Repugnicants.

  40. Troll Says:

I should not deride you. Pardon me. But you are not a prophet nor am I. But simple common sense and an understanding of history will demonstrate that no government as large and powerful as ours serves it people. It serves itself. And too many of us are somehow deluded into thinking if we only feed the darkness more then it will come around. It will not change. Does not the actions of this present congress prove my point. “Give me liberty or give me death”.

I thought this spoke well to MY point

“And behold, the darkness is growing in strength. Its price is the blood of innocents, its reward is perverse satisfaction, yet never ending hunger for more; more wealth, more power, more destruction. It is an addiction which cannot be satiated nor cured. Truth is its enemy, and so it wraps itself in lies and calls the lies the truth. And those who would not look into the darkness, bask in the darkness of lies.”

The gov if the darkness growing in strength. We the innocents suffer. Its satifaction is its growing strength. Hungering for more, more. It is addicted and cant be cured. It wraps itself in the lie of its own importance. And socialists are those who will not look into the darkness but bask in its lies.

Slaverey will not make us free.

    Government is the enemy.

  41. david Says:

Troll, you have a pathetic grasp of human psychology. And an even meaner understanding of social dynamics.

You are the one with the enormous ego who demands his vote to count more than one in 300 million. You’re the blind narcissist who imagines only politicians, clergy, public servants, and and teachers are tainted with the ways of the world.

Fut. You’ll find that the love of money is the root of all evil and that makes our business class the primary nest of villainy. Lust is also a mighty temptation and so beware all who preach superhuman virtue; they are likely hypocrites.

The separation of Church & State is what keeps religion from forcing you to cough up cash. The Church does in all countries where it’s Established.

As for the State’s taxation, you do get value for money. But the Republicans seem to hate oversight and controls and open-bidding. Go figure! The Bush Republicans have brought the principles of Enron to the White House and woe to the Nation when the Bull enters the House.

  42. JMOHR Says:

I love the trolls. Barack bought a 10′ strip of land to increase his yard. This is a big sin because of whom he bought it from. Gosh, I guess Barak should have asked God to lift up his section of the earth and moved it so that he would have had another neighbor.

  43. GAIVS IVLIVS CAESAR OCTAVIANVS Says:

Where is the ThinkProgress Headline that reads:

BREAKING: Al Gore’s Son. Bust With Drugs.

    ???????????????????????????????????????????

  44. GAIVS IVLIVS CAESAR OCTAVIANVS Says:

Why does TP cover Paris Hilton but not Al Goracle’s son being busted with drugs?

  45. Troll Says:

    David
You never demonstrated how I “have a pathetic grasp of human psychology. And an even meaner understanding of social dynamics.” Its fun to make unsubstanciated accusations but of little value.

I never made any claim that my vote should count for more than one.

I never stated that “only politicians, clergy, public servants, and and teachers are tainted with the ways of the world.”

Love of money is not the “root of all evil” in my opinion pride is. For evil existed long before money did but pride has been around as long.

You brought up the lust thing not me.

I support the separation of Church and state and was referring to the USA.

As for your opinion that with “:… taxation, you do get value for money.” I am glad you think so. Please give as much of your money as you like but allow me to spend mine as I see fit. That is my right, it is my property and I think a resonable compromise.

Finally if you think it is only “…the Republicans (who) seem to hate oversight and controls and open-bidding.” You are kidding yourself.

  46. Troll Says:

    Regarding Obama
He bought the home for 300k less than the asking price in a hot market on the exact date that Rezko overpaid for his vacant lot from the same person. Sounds pretty suspicious to me.

If that does not send up red flags in your mind you are a lefty moonbat.

  47. Bjobotts Says:

“Should have offered the land to other public agencies first…” Okay, maybe they should have but they didn’t. So what happens now. Are they undoing the sale and taking the money back or what? Why don’t you include this in your report. Are the other agencies going to get a crack at the land now or does Calvert’s group keep it but pay a fine or what….beyond “shouldn’t” have done that.

  48. TC Says:

Ah my good Congressman….caught witha hooker maybe 12, 13 years ago, yup these conservatives just don’t like the high taxes……sleep with a hooker (well we’ll let it go if you keep our taxes down). Dope.

  49. Dianne Feinstein Says:

Senator Reid and I find this allegation very troubling. We will definitely need to consider congressional investigations.

    * Call CAIR and tell them you’re concerned that they have received funding from Islamic terrorists and is currently being funded by Islamic countries that support terrorism.
    * Call CAIR and tell them that you’re not feeling all that warm and fuzzy about their spokesman Ibrahim Hooper after he said: “I wouldn’t want to create the impression that I wouldn’t like the government of the United States to be Islamic law sometime in the future.”
    * Call CAIR and tell them that you have just the slightest of misgivings about a statement made by Omar Ahmad, Chairman Emeritus of CAIR, that “Islam isn’t in America to be equal to any other faith, but to become dominant.
