Libby is a convicted felon who deserves to go to jail for 30 months.

If Libby deserves 30 months, then Burglar should get the chair.

Comment by FDR —

Just as Jeb Bush needs to worry about his drug-addicted children, and George Jr. about his twins who apparently inherited his alcohol problems, hypocrite.

This is not a contraversial decision to commute just because Libby was proven guilty. Its contraversial because the topic in question involves the President and the Vice President, which at the very LEAST, gives the appearance of an attempt to sheild themselves from prosecution.

If you confess to a crime you did not commit, just because there was no crime committed, you still will go to jail for interfering with the investigation, or as its referred to, "obstructing justice".

And while its clear that Bush and Cneney were in on the leak, even if they weren't , which they are, but even if they weren't, it would still not absolve Scooter Libby.

Whether a crime was committed or not, Libby was charged, and convicted by a federal grand jury of blocking the federal prosecutors ability to DETERMINE if a crime had been committed.

That is Libby's crime.

And whether or not a crime was committed, (which it was), Libby was sentenced to jail for obstructing justice by lying to a federal grand jury, which regardless of the RNC worms in here, was proven by a United States Federal Prosecutor to a Federal Grand Jury, and thats all there is too it.

Libby wasn’t “charged with” having information about his superiors.

Comment by spit take — July 5, 2007 @ 1:40 pm

Gore didn't say he was.

You're reading it wrong.

Gore said activities that INVOLVE knowledge of what his superiors in the White House did.

And that is 100 percent correct.

Vice President Gore is right Libby did have knowledge that could have posed a problem for this White House. There is a direct conflict of interest here for the president and the vice president. Bush commuted the sentence of someone who could have shed more light on the outing of covert CIA agent Valerie Plame. What President Clinton did was completely different. He never pardoned or commuted the sentence of anyone who was a former White House official. Because the Justice department was not consulted there are some legal questions here that must be addressed when the House Judiciary Committee Chairman Conyers takes up this critical issue. The president may have committed a crime if he tried to protect his own interests in commuting Libby's sentence.

So Libby’s paid his fine and served his time. He didn’t even get a pardon

Exactly what does he stand to gain?

Served his time? When did Libby serve ANY time? I must have missed that. Was it around the same time that paris Hilton served her time?

How can anyone take Al Gore seriously at this point?

He takes contributions from tobacco companies, then goes after them.

Umm... Isn't that evidence that he's NOT in their pocket? Isn't that a GOOD thing for a politician?

He speaks out against Iraq’s WMD program, then denounces those who do the same a few years down the road.

"A few years down the road", when evidence shows that the people he denounces "cooked the books" to bolster the non-existent case for non-existent WMD? Yeah, that's real bad. Much better he should continue to repeat discredited talking points.

He makes a movie on supposed “global warming.” Then lives a lifestyle that is completely the polar opposite of how a “true believer” would.

It's a shame that Al Gore's "lifestyle" doesn't match the ideal that you believe a "true believer" should aspire to. My guess is that it involves living in a mud hut and writing on birch bark, right?

Says there is no way he’ll run for President in 2008… (Do you believe that? I assume it means that he is running.)

And NOW you're criticizing him for YOUR OWN assumption about his plans. Nicely done.

Say one thing, do the other. Flip flop Al.

Jeebus, what a mass of troll droppings. Not a lick of sense in the whole pile.
