i’ve just read this on an australian newspaper site:

The leader of an al-Qaeda-linked group in Iraq has vowed to attack Iranians unless Iran cut off its support for the Iraqi Government within two months.

“We give the … Persians in general, and leaders of Iran in particular, two months to withdraw their support and presence in Iraq,” Abu Omar al-Baghdadi, leader of the self-styled Islamic State in Iraq, said in the 50-minute audio tape posted today on an Islamist website that has often carried al-Qaeda statements.

In the first such threat by his group, Baghdadi said that unless Iran met his demands, the group would wage a “brutal war” against Iranians.

“We announce it today, our hands will not stay far from you,” he said. He did not say whether the group would mount attacks inside Iran.

We can’t recall a sitting US Senator here in CT or any other state. This retch can only be impeached by his fellows in the Senate. We had one shot last year and we Dems voted him off the ticket. Joe was elected by republicans and just enough people who normally vote Dem but were unaware of his record. The republican candidate got no endorsements and slightly more votes. Lamont didn’t screw up, but in fact performed exceedingly well given the corruption of the incumbant and his supporters in the White House. Also Bill and Hillary campaigned for LIEberman for the nomination, but failed to show up for Lamont. Joe will be a vile nuisance until he retires after this term, when he will gorge himself on lobby cash. He didn’t show up for the funeral of a New Haven war casualty on Friday. He’s never coming back to CT.

Indeed, do you recall that Big Lieb didn’t want to give up his Senate seat and so didn’t resign when he got the 2nd spot. That was not looked upon kindly by Dems. One could see the Yellow Streak running down his back even then. And then his slavish love of the War on Terror. It goes beyond reason. He’s like a man possessed or someone who is being blackmailed by a merciless villain.

It is almost incredible to think that Lieberman was 532 votes** from being a Democratic VP!

A few hundred votes and a strike of Tecumseh’s curse and this good man would have been the Commander in Chief.

Given that he was a Democrat, the left would have automatically supported his Presidency, the right would have been won over by his bipartisanship, and his approval ratings would have made him an effective leader in the war on Terror.
