Holy mackeral! That’s a significant number. Nancy Pelosi needs to take a look at this poll.

Question: If traitor Cheney gets impeached and little Bush pardons him, does that mean that Cheney can get his vp job back? Or will it be too late. The Republicans will have to appoint someone for the vp position.

These are literally defenseless birds. This is not a hunt. This is an animal massacre. By the way, we’re not talking about a few birds, we’re talking about “shooting ducks and some 70 pen-raised pheasants” (http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,1159061,00.html). 58. lonesomerobot Says:

the thread, m12, is about impeaching cheney, which a majority favor according to this poll.

46%, while not a majority, is an extraordinarily high number. it’s certainly far higher than wanted clinton impeached (his approval ratings were at their highest during the impeachment flap, he ended his term higher than he began, which hasn’t happened going all the way back to truman).

2/3 is the bar for congress, not the populace. and more than 50% of independents favoring impeachment for both bush and cheney isn’t exactly good news for republicans.

but go ahead, spin away. up is down, left is right, black is white. and most importantly to you whackjobs, wrong is right.

Violent Islamo-Stalinist state? I did not know that was part of my platform - thanks for the clarification! I always thought of myself as advocating a nonviolent religiously-tolerant responsive liberal democracy with a Keynesian economic approach, but details details…

Also - the bit about making police and military jobs tougher is very interesting, coming from the person who wants to put more guns on the street. 78. Parrotlover77 Says:

Pelosi won’t be the one to necessarily lead this, being second in line to the presidency. She must remain absolutely impartial and hesitant so that it doesn’t seem she’s doing this as a power grab for herself. Hell, I’d be worried if she did start beating the drums because then I might begin to think i was wrong about her and all she wanted is power. I do, however, I want to hear more impeachment talk from Democrats NOT in the near line to the presidency!

Democrats are poised for a big win in ‘08 as it stands currently (obviously things may change as time passes - i hope not). The last thing we need is a crappy one year of President Pelosi to make the public vote for Guiliani! I’m not saying Pelosi wouldn’t be spectacular, but you have to consider the possibility whereas now all that is happening is Republicans making bigger asses out of themselves and scapegoats that even the biggest moron can see through.

However, impeachment doesn’t mean removal from power, only a statement of charges. Clinton was impeached, afterall. So let’s start the impeachment proceedings, but let’s be a little more restrained about the conviction. W serves the country better as a lame duck than removed.

Hardly representative of the sentiments of the US populace as a whole.

Yes, the moderates and the independents, the guys who are Libertarian and Green, Constitutionalists and all those other little guys. Keep pissing us off. PLEASE. Even those of us who agree with your stated goals are going to break with you and join the Democrats, simply because you’re NOT acting like a Law and Order and fiscal responsibility party. I’d venture to guess that the error of margin in this pool is predicated on the people who ran it. The climate in this country is beginning to feel like an “impeachment feeding frenzy” so I believe that 54% is a rather conservative, if not intentionally skewed, figure.

How does this compute when this Dick only has a poll number in the high teens? This number is bogus and, in reality, is much, much higher.

Bush senior, by letting April Glaspie tell Saddam we would’t interfere if he invaded Kuwait, and Bush junior by being on vacation 40% of the time prior to 9/11.

Hopefully the Democratic congress is paying attention. Maybe that will get them off their duff’s. If they impeach Chaney they either need to move on to impeaching Bush, or not confirm anyone that Bush nominates for VP until such time as they get around to impeaching Bush.

The right will scream that we are trying to install Nancy Pelosi as our President by not allowing Bush to replace Chaney with another neoCON Republic, and they will be right. The neoCON Republics have forfeited their right to run this country.

  175. missmolly Says:

Nancy Pelosi has to feel a lot like Carl Albert did when the handwriting was on the wall for Spiro Agnew in 1973. SHE’S not going to be the one to push for impeachment, since if Cheney and Bush both go down, she winds up in the Oval Office. The driver here would have to be John Conyers, the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee. And if evidence of criminal activity gets any higher than it is now, he can no longer ignore it (it’s actually too high to ignore now).

If the Republicans want to salvage their party, then Cheney would have to be impeached first, and then the new Repub veep would have to be somebody very Ford-like — respected by both parties, untainted by the Bush/Cheney white house, and somebody people can accept as president (since Bush would likely be next). Nominations, anyone?

The other scenario (which would NOT be good for the Republican party) would be for no impeachment despite the pile of manure at 1600 getting higher and higher. Bush and Cheney limp to the finish line and leave office with approval ratings in the sub-basement. If this is the case, look for the GOP to get smacked with a tidal wave come November.
