Live earth concerts underway.

By Faiz Shakir on Jul 7th, 2007 at 9:30 am

Live earth concerts underway.

Watch them here. MSNBC and affiliated NBC networks are providing coverage throughout the day. Climate Progress is live-blogging the New York concert.

UPDATE: The concerts are barely underway, but the National Review’s Mark Steyn has already declared the event a failure. “The way this thing’s going it looks like, thanks to Al Gore, all-star charity galas will be joining the polar bears on his endangered species list.”

UPDATE II: Michelle Malkin offers her insights on the concerts: “Who are these people and what on earth are they doing?”

    Imagine…

…how much energy this concert uses.

…how much waste is produced by this concert.

…how much aviation fuel all the artists and audience spent just to get to the concert. Doesn’t help with global warming, now does it?

…how much better the money spent on this concert could have been spent in solving poverty and hunger all around the world.

    …and so on.

    Hypocrites. That’s what you are.

Good point on post #1, Frank.

  13. t scot says:

Frank….grow up numbnuts. Energy spent on the defense off the planet is not wasted as oppossed to the air that you breath.

  14. Vinnie says:

    Frank,

The reality of the world we live in is that to pull this off we do need to expend some energy. That level of energy pales in comparison to what could be saved by bringing more awareness of this problem to the people.

No, Frank would prefer that we stick our head in the sand and let Exxon continue to break new profit records. What gets these trolls all upset about Al Gore is that he is at least trying to DO SOMETHING. The global warming deniers would prefer that we DO NOTHING. Their type are now being exposed for what they are. The world is seeing this as a real problem and are demanding real action. Unfortunately, our leaders in Washington are intent on NOT providing any.

I sat and watched Fox “News” with my mom last night. (She’s in her last days so I gave in to her.) As to be expected with the right-wing trolls, Frank is parroting them well. Maybe you could come up with something original. Maybe you could explain why we’re continually setting new tempurature records. Maybe you could tell us that 115 degree weather in Phoenix is really nothing to worry about.

Al Gore can become an effective speaker once he cuts his $1200+ electricity bill. No human should be consuming half that amount to comfortably live. And he owns other homes that carry an energy demand, does he not?

  17. Frank M says:

dlet: Easily debunked. The war makes us more secure while this concert is nothing but lots of hot air and pompous celebrities and washed-up politicians prancing around for PR.

  18. CT_V1 says:

Al Gore’s “resurrect the hippies” movement of 2007.

  19. dbadass says:

“The war makes us more secure”

Hi Frank! Care to explain this one? Declaritive statements with no support are just opinions, I declare.

  20. Vinnie says:

Problem: Global Warming. So, let’s discuss: Al Gore’s electric bill. Hmmm. Sounds logical to me.

Frank M., more secure?! Isn’t the whole reason we’re fighting this war is to secure Iraqi’s oil? If we practiced some simple conservation then we wouldn’t need the Mid-East oil and would have no need to fight the war.

Or are you so stuck on Fox News that you’re going to tell us the 9/11 hijackers were connected to Iraq and Saddam Hussein?

  21. Frank M says:

Al Gore’s “resurrect the hippies” movement of 2007.

    Hahaha! Good one.

At least some of the hippie girls were hot and kind of ditsy. Al Gore’s movement is most likely filled with lesbian feminazis who hate both men and conservative politics with equal vigor.

    Comment by CT_V1

Yeah I also read on Drudge that he leaves all the lights on in every place he owns just so that idiots can claim that Al Gore is a hypocrite. He also has a gasoline fountain that burns just to waste energy and create pollution. I also heard that he has genectically changed his lungs so that they produce greenhouse gases every time he exhales. Man that Al Gore is crazy like that.

  24. Vinnie says:

    Jake,

It’s so interesting how you guys avoid the problem of global warming just to talk about Al Gore. I’m surprised you haven’t brought up his son’s troubles yet as if that shows that Gore must be wrong. This is NOT about Al Gore. It’s about a global climate crisis that you are suggesting we ignore.

Why would you attempt skirt the issue of his energy consumption? He’s a hypocrite, plain and simple. He can cut his energy use to reasonable levels, then come back to run his mouth.

Don’t attempt to minimize my words because it causes you political discomfort.

  28. Frank M says:

Vinnie + dbadass: Going to Iraq makes us safer in two ways.

One: it gives us access to oil which is the lifeblood of America. There are no alternative energy sources and there will not be any, at least in large scale, for decades to come. Wind and solar will never, ever scale up and fusion – which is the only realistic alternative – is still not working even in the lab.

Two: The militant islam must be kept under control. Europeans have already caved in and as of now the European Community is being run over by muslim immigrants. We will have an islamic Europe in twenty or so years. Therefore it is imperative that we discourage militant islam by a show of force whenever necessary. That’s what they’ll always understand.

Your whole MO here is to say that this problem can be ignored.

  32. CT_V1 says:

His electricity bill is the only record needed. The itemized tally of his consumption isn’t needed. Thank you for your attempt to skirt his obvious hypocrisy with sarcasm.

Al Gore does what he wants, not what he wants us to do, apparently.

  33. Frank M says:

#29: I don’t need your validation, but as you may have read in my post, I said “most likely”. It was just a conjecture based on my experiences with liberal chicks of today.

  34. War4Sale says:

  35. dbadass says:

    Frank:
Correct me if I am wrong but did the greatest US military minds recently point out the state of the environment as a major force in global instability and are planning contingencies for such? Why support A grossly exxagerated modern day Crusade while denying a serious threat as identified by experts in the field? I deny not that the current unpleasantness is unpleasant but it will pass and our current strategy appears to be worsen that problem rather than addressing it in a more constructive problem solving paradigm

  36. Vinnie says:

    Frank,

You’re basically admitting that our oil addiction is bad enough that we need to start a pre-emptive war against a sovereign nation and to continue a military occupation of that country indefinitely simply in order to supply us with oil. If we switched towards more fuel-efficient vehicles using existing technology, we could have avoided this war altogether. Instead, our economy has just bled away 1.4 TRILLION dollars.

BTW, Iraq was NOT a muslim nation when we attacked it. Hussein, for all his faults, did keep Iraq secular. However, in no way am I buying into your irrational fear of all Muslims that seems to permeate you trolls.

  37. Frank M says:

“If we switched towards more fuel-efficient vehicles using existing technology, we could have avoided this war altogether. ”

Uh. No. Cars would still run on gas and we would still have to get our oil from the Middle East.

It means that Al Gore and the Hollywood suck-ups shouldn’t using the cause for PR and book deals. Al Gore has taken in more than he has put out throughout this “advocacy” charade.

Appoint somebody else who consumes less than $200 per month in total energy, to include air travel.

  40. david says:

Why are the Republicans running so scared? Can it be that they have no celebs to boost their cause?? That they have no rhythm???

Of course, what makes them hate Al Gore is that he’s a millionaire who is pushing Kyoto. This is heresy. Socialist millionaires make the Right gag, foam, and spit venom.

What do they fear from this concert? That it will create a worldwide organization for action. It might put the Environment at the top of the political agenda. Whoa!

Remember. This is the Far Right that’s talking thru the butt of Malkin & Steyn. Their talk is a major cause of greenhouse gasses. This is the Far Right that thinks Rachel Carson is akin to Hitler & Stalin and the Darwin is an enemy of the people. They’re nuts. They’re anti-science, they’re anti-humanity. They are anti-LIFE.

  43. david says:

Frank M, you’re an ignorant fool. The world has mocked the size of American cars since the 1950s. It would be easy to reduce America’s gas consumption by 50%. And all cars do not run on gas. Go rent: Who killed the Electric Car?

BTW, you do know that America’s #1 supplier of oil and gas is CANADA. It’s not Saudi Arabia, it’s not anyone in the Middle East. Nope. It’s friendly old CANADA. But don’t expect us to be too friendly in the future if you keep these fascist clowns in office.

  44. dlet says:

    Comment by Frank M

First, why do you hold so little regard for American ingenuity? Why do you hate America? I personally think that if we had a president with a grain of character at this moment the energy solution which would include wind and solar research would be worked on with the best and brightest this country has to offer. There could and would be solutions within years not decades. It just needs to be given the commitment some reserve for empire building disguised as “protection”. As for the containment of radical Islam in the ME I think that Saddam has the same idea. What happened to him again?

  50. david says:

CT, again. You really can’t demolish the Green Movement based on the energy consumption of Al Gore’s Tennessee mansion. It’s no different than screaming that Gore is rich and wants to raise taxes on himself. I find that noble.

BTW, the so-called facts on Gore’s house are distorted. It offers no comparisons. It doesn’t disclose it’s Republican source. And it doesn’t qualify the actual nature of the mansion as an office as well as a dwelling. Nor do we have disclosures for the anti-Global Warming crowd about their energy consumption.

It’s all about ideology on the Right. Carter installed solar panels on the White House. Reagan ripped them out. Why? For no better reason than ideology. The GOP creed: Waste is Good.

    Did you read that link?

Kalee Kreider, a spokesperson for the Gores, did not dispute the Center’s figures, taken as they were from public records. But she pointed out that both Al and Tipper Gore work out of their home and she argued that “the bottom line is that every family has a different carbon footprint. And what Vice President Gore has asked is for families to calculate that footprint and take steps to reduce and offset it.”

A carbon footprint is a calculation of the CO2 fossil fuel emissions each person is responsible for, either directly because of his or her transportation and energy consumption or indirectly because of the manufacture and eventual breakdown of products he or she uses. (You can calculate your own carbon footprint on the website http://www.carbonfootprint.com/)

The vice president has done that, Kreider argues, and the family tries to offset that carbon footprint by purchasing their power through the local Green Power Switch program — electricity generated through renewable resources such as solar, wind, and methane gas, which create less waste and pollution. “In addition, they are in the midst of installing solar panels on their home, which will enable them to use less power,” Kreider added. “They also use compact fluorescent bulbs and other energy efficiency measures and then they purchase offsets for their carbon emissions to bring their carbon footprint down to zero.

  64. david says:

CT, get your facts straight. This isn’t a thread about Al Gore. You’re the troll trying to turn it into a Gore Event. It’s about Global Warming and how we have to reduce our energy consumption or carbon footprint. And yes, the Tennessee Center for Policy Research is a Republican front organization.

It’s laughable to dismiss Gore because he has a mansion. But that’s the Right. They always attack the messenger with a vengeance. The Right hated Gandhi and so they mocked his loincloth and simple lifestyle. Jesus was mocked for accepting the scented oil. and so it goes.

Mr Pee and CT can’t take it if someone from the Country Club isn’t GOP. They can’t take someone serious if they don’t wear a suit and shoot ducks. They just roll their eyes if they propose doing anything that is approved by the WSJ.

  65. Candyce says:

Of course Michelle Malkin is confused. Anything global that doesn’t involve killing people is beyond her comprehension.

Anyhoo…. 5 years ago we changed out every bulb in our home to compact fluroescent, and we haven’t had to replace a single one in all that time. It was costly at the time, but totally worth it. Also, we use powerbars for our electronics and don’t just turn them off with the remote, which is just energy-consuming standby, but at the powerbar to cut off the electricity completely.

What they are doing, Michelle Malkindinejad, is raising awareness to include those small things that matter, like we have done. It’s about decreasing consumption and working toward solutions so that our children and their children will have a chance to live the kind of life we hope for them.

A spokesperson for the Gore didn’t dispute their findings. Her “carbon footprint” rebuttal, however, doesn’t make any sense. It all comes down to consumption.

Their job is to travel and give concerts. Or should they stay home and let the audiences fly to them. And you can’t keep a record contract if you don’t tour.

How many acts are traveling this weekend that aren’t part of this concert? Get back to us with that link, okay.

CT, it’s not about Al Gore. It’s about Global Warming. And it’s irrelevant to discuss his mansion if you can’t prove that it’s profligate use of energy. That means, you’ll need to discuss how many live and work in the house. How much security is involved. How much of the house is used as an office and communications base. And how much energy use is balanced through carbon offsets and renewable sources.

That said, and I know you rely on sources uninterested in researching those questions, it’s time to return to the topic of this thread Live Earth. What exactly frightens you about it? Why do you have your head stuck up your ar$e when it comes to Global Warming? The West is becoming another dust bowl and Australia is baking. The cost to civilization will be catastrophic. And all so you can run about in an SUV.

  112. Candyce says:

Troll logic escapes me. Let’s say Gore isn’t living up to the hype, just for argument’s sake? Do you really think it’s a waste of time to try to make some changes? Do you really think our lifestyle is eternally sustainable? Do you not think it makes a difference if each of us makes some contribution to cut oil consumption? Water consumption?

Here’s a little factoid from a book by Barbara Kingsolver that I’m reading, Animal, Vegetable, Miracle. Every food item we eat travels 1500 miles to get to us. Add to that the oil cost of production. If every person ate just one meal per week comprised of locally produced foods and meats, we would save 1.1 million barrels of oil per week.

That’s not buying into the global warming argument; it’s just common sense. We can’t live the way we do forever. Our children will pay a dear price for our lifestyle if we don’t make some changes.

Uh. No. Cars would still run on gas and we would still have to get our oil from the Middle East.

    Comment by Frank M — July 7, 2007 @ 10:29 am

Umm, no. They can easily run on biofuels for now. Biofuels which do far more for the planet than digging for oil could hope to do. Soy, corn, algae, jatropha, and many other plants are able to be used for biofuels to varying degrees of efficiency. Here in Florida, our farmers are eagerly awaiting pH and nutrient testing of jatropha. I happen to be very good friends with the individuals who are putting crops of the plant in the ground for the first time in the state, and whose tests the rest of Florida’s farmers wait with baited breath. Gotta find those ideal growing conditions, so the yield is the best it can be.

Biofuels are like oil fields that scrub the air until harvest time, helping in the way that any green plants help our environment. The yield of oil for jatropha is somewhere between four and eight times that of soybeans, and over ten times that of corn, for the same acreage. What’s more, plants like jatropha can be used for more than just fuel, being quite valuable in the pharmaceutical industry, among others. Even the raw materials left when the oil is pressed out, and the other valuable parts are harvested, can be used as fertilizer.

We also do not need the oil in the ground for lubricants. Hempseed oil, were it still mass produced in this country, is still one of the top lubricants desired by engineers around the world to this day. But, you know, hemp has no actual use, being all evil and stuff. So evil, our Founding Fathers required, by law, all citizens of this country who own land to grow hemp on it. Even without using such natural industrial lubricants, there are other solutions as well, pointed out below.

What we really need oil for, more than anything else, in this country, is the manufacturing of plastics. More oil goes to plastics than to everything else. But, we are now able to recycle materials down to such a degree with recycling plants made from over-the-counter parts, that we can render our garbage back into oil, and its other useful individual components. We have the ability to have our corporations and government alike not only recycling, but recouping much of their operating energy costs by recycling their garbage IN-HOUSE into a viable energy source, source for lubricants, etc.

There is no excuse to still be addicted to oil. There is no reason to begin preemptive wars of aggression to protect our addiction to this resource we can now get from elsewhere. None. The lies you spew, else the ignorance you drip like poison from your tongue, have no factual basis in reality. They are lies your ilk use to maintain their control over whatever the hell their twisted psychological needs push them to control. You and your so-called agenda is just pathetic. You’d rather see the world go down in a ball of flames with a small group at the top of the burning heap, than to have the resources of the earth used in such a way that everybody benefits and everybody profits. You’d rather use the resources selfishly than selflessly. Foolishly, rather than wisely. You’d rather see the earth destroyed than see some “God damned hippies!” prosper.

You are full of shit. Just because Al Gore, who happens to be fairly wealthy, owns a large home (and some other property) and uses *gasp* electricity in it, doesn’t mean he is the same as every other person paying that much per month on electricity. You may not like it, you might want to hear it, but Al Gore buys enough energy credits, and has been busily converting his home into an energy efficient, solar-using bastion of green. He puts his money where his mouth is.

As far as Gore using 20 times the energy as an average American? Well, duh. How about comparing his energy signature to that of the other people in his income bracket, who ALL spend VASTLY more on energy than the average American. Your distorting argument doesn’t hold any water when the comparisons aren’t merely statistical manipulations.

What’s your carbon energy signature, buddy? Mine is 279, but I am doing everything I can to make that lower. Six months ago, my energy signature was 349. Are you doing anything at all? Or would you rather just contribute to making our planet uninhabitable to our species. We will not destroy THE world, but we will destroy OUR world, if we continue down this path of greed and self-destruction.

Yeah, we here on Earth the double whammy of trapped greenhouse gases. Not only do they trap heat, via the greenhouse effect, they also prevent evaporation, via global dimming. That is why this is a global climate crisis, it’s not JUST that the world has been getting warmer.

For those who did not know, evaporation of water is not due to heat, it is due primarily to light exciting particles of water on the surface of the body of water, until they become excited enough to escape as water vapor. With more particles in our atmosphere, there is less evaporation on a global scale today than there was before industrialization. Scientists have slowly but surely been unraveling the secrets of the many and varied variables global climate change has been keeping. Many of the droughts in the ’70s and ’80s are now being attributed to global dimming. Without sufficient rainfall, drought is inevitable, and the timing is perfect. Moreover, we have been far more successfully in our fight against global dimming since the widespread phasing out of CFC aerosols. This means that global dimming is also not currently compensating whatsoever for the quickening pace of global warming. Dimming was holding back some of the dangerous feedback, contributing a cooling effect to compensate for the warming. For now, the particulate matter problem is being reversed faster than the carbon pollution problem.

I would not be surprised in the least if, in the end, the scientists link the ’70s hype of global cooling to in fact be attributable to global dimming. Before the globe could sufficiently heat up thanks to the greenhouse effect, the cooling effect of global dimming was outpacing it. But global dimming does not lead to the same kinds of feedback loops that global warming does.

Gore claims that Himalayan glaciers are shrinking and global warming is to blame. Yet the September 2006 issue of the American Meteorological Society’s Journal of Climate reported, “Glaciers are growing in the Himalayan Mountains, confounding global warming alarmists who recently claimed the glaciers were shrinking and that global warming was to blame.”

Gore claims the snowcap atop Africa’s Mt. Kilimanjaro is shrinking and that global warming is to blame. Yet according to the November 23, 2003, issue of Nature magazine, “Although it’s tempting to blame the ice loss on global warming, researchers think that deforestation of the mountain’s foothills is the more likely culprit. Without the forests’ humidity, previously moisture-laden winds blew dry. No longer replenished with water, the ice is evaporating in the strong equatorial sunshine.”

Gore claims global warming is causing more tornadoes. Yet the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change stated in February that there has been no scientific link established between global warming and tornadoes.

Gore claims global warming is causing more frequent and severe hurricanes. However, hurricane expert Chris Landsea published a study on May 1 documenting that hurricane activity is no higher now than in decades past. Hurricane expert William Gray reported just a few days earlier, on April 27, that the number of major hurricanes making landfall on the U.S. Atlantic coast has declined in the past 40 years. Hurricane scientists reported in the April 18 Geophysical Research Letters that global warming enhances wind shear, which will prevent a significant increase in future hurricane activity.

Gore claims global warming is causing an expansion of African deserts. However, the Sept. 16, 2002, issue of New Scientist reports, “Africa’s deserts are in ’spectacular’ retreat . . . making farming viable again in what were some of the most arid parts of Africa.”

Gore argues Greenland is in rapid meltdown, and that this threatens to raise sea levels by 20 feet. But according to a 2005 study in the Journal of Glaciology, “the Greenland ice sheet is thinning at the margins and growing inland, with a small overall mass gain.” In late 2006, researchers at the Danish Meteorological Institute reported that the past two decades were the coldest for Greenland since the 1910s.

Gore claims the Antarctic ice sheet is melting because of global warming. Yet the Jan. 14, 2002, issue of Nature magazine reported Antarctica as a whole has been dramatically cooling for decades. More recently, scientists reported in the September 2006 issue of the British journal Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society Series A: Mathematical, Physical, and Engineering Sciences, that satellite measurements of the Antarctic ice sheet showed significant growth between 1992 and 2003. And the U.N. Climate Change panel reported in February 2007 that Antarctica is unlikely to lose any ice mass during the remainder of the century.

  215. Candyce says:

Ok, sorry, michael. We are done here. You quote at length an article then say you don’t care who the author is, nor are you even curious about who the author is. Yes, it is important to know the source of an opinion piece, and it’s unfortunate you don’t know that.

Additionally, one or two sentences out of a couple of magazines or journals does not cement your argument for you. Read the whole articles and see what else they have to say.

Now, if you want to pretend that all is well with the global environment, go for it. If you want to pretend that our fuel-driven nations can be sustained forever at current levels, then go for it. I’m sure you can find many other authors from the Federalist Society and the Cato Institute and the Heartland Institute (yeah, those are clues) who will support your viewpoint.

You make a big deal out of how it only took you x-amount of time to get yours

I’m not making a big deal out of how long it took me. All my friends at the time (60’s) went into the service. We all got out within a year of each other and became part of the inactive reserves and received our Honorable Discharges within a year. Back then that was a big deal because employers wanted to see it. As I printed above kerry would not have been allowed to do the things he did if he were part of the active reserves. So, why didn’t he get his Honorable Discharge around the same time the rest of us did?

“And, for the record, I do not believe any of us cares why this was, if it really was. Explain what difference it makes. Why is it so important to know”

That is the single most important point that Michael doesn’t seem to grasp. Once you’ve been caught plagarizing, especially if it is public and you then refuse to recant or otherwise amend your mistake, going so far as to say citing your sources doesn’t matter for you, in this instance, everything else you write or have previously written becomes suspect.

If you were a professional journalist, the past tense in that statement would be permanent, Michael. If you were a professional author, this kind of plagarism would force publishers to turn away from you wholesale, Michael. If you were a student caught plagarizing on one of your papers, you’d get an “F”, you might even get kicked from your class, or you might get booted from your school altogether, Michael. Plagarism is a serious breach of trust, Michael. You need to take the time to make things are done correctly the first time, Michael.

I think I’m on his ignore list (not that this particular troll has ever mentioned having one specifically). He never responds to anything I post, even direct responses to him. Ah well, the sure sign of an actual troll, I suppose. I suppose it is because he seems incapable of forming a cohesive argument of his own. So, he plagarizes, cuts and pastes, and otherwise refuses to do any actual work himself, letting others do the talking (and perhaps thinking?) for him.

    A copy/paste to refute michael’s copy/paste…

…The Green Miles will be packing up the Purple Car tomorrow and driving up to New Jersey for the Live Earth climate change awareness concert. I’ll get a review posted here next week!

Amazingly, just days before the concert, a front group with ties to General Motors and major funding from Big Oil was still attacking Gore and his beliefs.

James M. Taylor’s op-ed appeared in the Chicago Sun-Times, primary employer of that paragon of journalism, Robert Novak. It accuses Gore of citing disproven theories in his recent book, “The Assault on Reason.”

Taylor is listed as “a senior fellow for environment policy at the Heartland Institute.” It’s immediately apparent that Taylor brings no substance to the table — only a prodigal talent in a favorite conservative tactic, trying to establish a flaw in one of Gore’s supporting anecdotes and claiming that one flaw invalidates the entire book. The column is a 681-word “yeah, but ….”

One of Taylor’s claims in particular set of my BS alarm:

Gore claims global warming is causing an expansion of African deserts. However, the Sept. 16, 2002, issue of New Scientist reports, “Africa’s deserts are in ’spectacular’ retreat . . . making farming viable again in what were some of the most arid parts of Africa.”

A quick Google search revealed “New Scientist” magazine is not a peer-reviewed scientific journal. Even its own editor admits “New Scientist” is “an ideas magazine – that means writing about hypotheses as well as theories.” Not exactly dripping with credibility.

On the other hand, United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon says climate change is drying up Africa’s farmland, triggering war as groups compete for disappearing resources. And a blue-ribbon panel of 11 of the most senior retired U.S. admirals and generals, not exactly bleeding-heart liberals, says climate change threatens our own national security.

****Now to the Heartland Institute. Its SourceWatch page is a veritable who’s who of people and companies who profit by denying climate change and trying to keep America addicted to oil.

    Just to name a few:

    – Walter F. Buchholtz, an ExxonMobil executive, serves as Heartland’s Government Relations Advisor
    – James L. Johnston, Amoco Corporation (retired), member of Heartland’s board of directors
    – Thomas Walton, an executive of General Motors Corporation, member of Heartland’s board of directors****

It’s not just leadership that Big Oil contributes to Heartland. According to ExxonSecrets.org, the Heartland Institute has received hundreds of thousands of dollars from ExxonMobil corporate and the ExxonMobil Foundation in just the last decade.

The science behind global warming is sound and solid. The planet is warming, greenhouse gas emissions from the burning of fossil fuels are to blame, and we must cut carbon emissions at least 80% by 2050 at the latest to curb warming’s worst effects.

To get the truth, read RealClimate.org. And to learn how to refute climate change deniers like Taylor, read Grist’s “How to Talk to a Climate Skeptic.”…

But he only attempts to answer those questions for which he has a pre-approved talking point or counterpoint, or can toss a specific kind of ad hominem or straw man at to see if that crap sticks. He is quite obviously posting here with a specific list of organized talking points, and with a specific agenda of disinformation and distraction. There are no doubt files of propaganda he has on hand to cut and paste, and instructions on when to use each given talking point. He certainly does so more than many other trolls who post here. He is certainly more obvious about it.

He might even respond to this post, because of the above point (he is here with an agenda). Why, I might even be posting this to see if he actually has the guts to respond, or if he really is the paid pussy shill that he appears to be.

Damn, your bosses are getting totally ripped off if they are paying you ANY money at all, Michael, my lad. Is your ignore list pre-approved as well? Are you also told where to place your hands while you pee? Are you only allowed to touch authorized parts of your wee willy winky, Mikey? Do you need that kind of authority over you? Nay, methinks Mikey likes it!

If you were at all honest, I’d gladly have a conversation with you. But alas, you take the stance of intellectual dishonesty in your discourse. You take the stance of cerebral indolence. You, my dear, plagarizing bridge-dweller, have no leg to stand on.
