Many people believe were in Iraq because they were

there so we don’t have to fight them, here.” What

I just returned from Europe. I ask people while I was
there what there impressions were of Americans. They
were shy at, first. Here’s some of the responses:
1. scary
2. dumb
3. big mouths
4. don’t listen
5. what are you afraid of?
6. war-mongers
7. all you care about is money.

I could go on, but you get the picture….

For one thing, Bush/Cheney commuted rather than pardoned Libby so that Libby could still plead the Fifth if he ever was put under oath about Bush and Cheney’s role in outing CIA NOC Valerie Plame and destroying her entire Middle East and Iraq spy network.

That network, by the way, was tasked with seeing whether Saddam still had any usable WMD left from the stockpiles Rumsfeld and Cheney gave him when they were working for Reagan in the 1980s; their verdict: Nope.

That’s how Plame’s hubby Joe Wilson was able to state in the July 2003 NYT Op-Ed that there wasn’t any WMD where Bush/Cheney said there was. This ticked off Dick Cheney so much that he sent his gunsel Scooter Libby — who has already testified under oath to leaking to Judith Miller on Cheney’s orders — to destroy Valerie Plame and her overseas intelligence network. (Anyone wanna guess how long any of her Iraqi contacts managed to survive once the local insurgents knew that the American women who talked to them was a CIA agent?)

Or, maybe they just don’t care. Even Hitler had his supporters.

I think that was much more likely the reason.

They would have brought up Clinton no matter what he did or said, or if he did or said nothing. The Clinton “scandals” have always been fabrications anyway.

She might have been a tad believable when she stuck to meeting with the President and bringing the troops home, but now, with her whining about Scooter, she’s shown that she doesn’t give 2 sh!ts about her son and that she’s just a general mouthpiece for a forgotten wing of the Democratic party.

It’s not the point. Bush wanted noise. That’s what Bush and Republicans do: They bring up irrelevancies, to confuse the argument and take people down primrose paths into left field. When the argument goes off on the most ridiculous tangent and people forget what the point is, Republicans win.

All that Bush wanted was Clinton to rise to the bait, and he did.

It is for that reason that I, cynically, refer to Clinton as “the gift that just keeps on giving.”

If Hillary gets the nomination (or winds up winning the general election in 2008), this is what we can expect for the entire time that she is in the picture. It’ll be a repeat of the last years of Bill Clinton’s administration, with Republicans tying up the media and our government, all over again, with more Hillary and Bill scandals. And the Clintons will do their part in providing justification.

Then, before you know it you will be playing into the hand of your Isamo-Stalinist masters…
