Sen. Joseph Lieberman (I-CT) appearing on CNBC this afternoon expressed his opposition to an amendment sponsored by Sen. Jim Webb (D-VA), which would require troops to rest for as much or more time as they are deployed. “Give the American soldiers a break,” Lieberman said. “It’s as if the American troops have the enemy on one side and Congress is sniping at their heels on the other side.” He added that Congress is advocating a “defeat, retreat strategy.” Watch it:

That cold bitter pill of reality destroys and voids all the vain attempts of the Failure in Chief and his brownshirt Cabal at PNAC and AEI.

And you accuse the Dems of not supporting the troops? You know, Joe–it may be time for you to just slip quietly away. . . . . . . far, far away.
July 9th, 2007 at 9:14 pmLieberman strikes again: treat our troops humanely you’ll weaken them and thus encourage the terrorists and Al Qaeda murders win in Iraq. But if you run our troops to the ground and set up as targets then we’ll win the war in Iraq. Make sense—if you’re Joseph Lieberman, the neocon’s favorite lap dog. Lieberman supply the spittle and our troops supply the blood.

July 9th, 2007 at 9:17 pmOMG, this man has completely taken leave of his senses. Requiring that the troops are home enough to be rested is “sniping at the troops”. He couldn’t make a bigger fool out of himself even if he was trying. The American public finally knows who supports the troops and it isn’t LIEberman and his Republic brethren.
July 9th, 2007 at 9:18 pmLatest neo-con talking points:
- Giving the troops a rest emboldens the enemy.
- Rested troops: Breeding ground for terror?
- Let *them* fight terror over there, so *I* don’t have to do anything over here.
July 9th, 2007 at 9:18 pmUnless his Mossad friends can cause a false flag operation here in the US soon, Joe (Israel First) Lieberman, is going to rapidly become very, very irrelevant.
Apparently he hasn’t noticed that all of the Republican Senators are starting to jump off of the sinking Bush war ship.
July 9th, 2007 at 9:20 pmLieberman wants to give the troops a break by not giving them a break. He definitely has learned to spin like a true Republican.
But that point aside, is this not the whiniest adult male you’ve ever seen.
July 9th, 2007 at 9:20 pmBush and his war-mongering gangster adminstration have “supported” over thirty-five hundred American soldiers into their pine-box coffins.
Bush and his war-mongering gangster adminstration have “supported” over fifteen thousand American soldiers into being armless, legless and permanently disabled persons.
Bush and his war-mongering gangster adminstration have “supported” over six-hundred thousand innocent Iraqis into their graves.
Bush and his war-mongering gangster adminstration have “supported” over one million Iraqis into being permanently injured and wounded and disabled people.
We can “support our troops” back home in Kansas or North Carolina much better than continuing to force them to continue policing an imperial occupation.
The Democrats in Congress finally ended the Vietnam War by defunding it.
Sen. Lieberman’s so-called “enemy” are the people of Iraq. Time to end the illegal criminal American occupation of Iraq.

July 9th, 2007 at 9:23 pmJoe Sixpack Lieberman never served in the US Military but has all the answers. Like is kiss mate George W. Bush and Cheney these guys have no idea what their talking about and were scared and cowards when the United States needed them. I also noticed that all those that follow Bush and say stay the course wouldn’t join the Military themselves. No wonder nothings gone right. You’ll read about all the rated Military men/women who are leaving the Military because they were ordered to send these young troops to die for oil and not for the reasons told to Americans. At lease the UN and world leaders know the Bush Administration lied. Even Connie Rice isn’t wanted in any talks, she is now promoting golf. What a job for the Secretary of State, and Putin is laughing as he calls others to tell just how low the US has gone.
July 9th, 2007 at 9:23 pmMr. President,

Don’t use Jews as your strawman; it’s too transparent.

July 9th, 2007 at 9:31 pmIn fact, I actually like Lieberman, he is not a Democrat Surrender monkey.
July 9th, 2007 at 9:32 pmLieberman’s chosen words to give the impression that he is one of the few who cares for the soldiers in the Congress is misleading.
He offers nothing to soldiers, and provided no solutions.
He wants soldiers to continue fighting and to continue to sacrifice their lives, and that’s the only support he can give them….more sacrifices.
And when the question is asked…for how long?,and why?, Lieberman is quick to call people who ask such questions as advocates of ‘defeat’ and ‘retreat’.
July 9th, 2007 at 9:33 pmLieberman wants more wars called for by PNAC project.
Recently,he was calling for a big war with Iran…on top of what we have

July 9th, 2007 at 9:58 pmThe Chomsey book is fascinating. You know how he is. A great deal of history that we would sometimes rather not know. but just after 9-11 he was predicting this very same mess with iraq.
One interesting thing he talks about is that right after the attack, there was not really a movement in NY for retribution.
He was saying that it was the media that was really starting the swell at that time toward Afganistan, and not the people.

But we digress…
July 9th, 2007 at 10:04 pmSo let me get this straight — the gentleman from Connecticut is dispensing lessons on military readiness to James “Fields of Fire” Webb, a Marine Corp Vietnam infantry vet and former Secretary of the Navy? Maybe his Israeli friends told him the IDF does tighter rotations. That would be part of the problem — Lieberman confuses Israel with the country he’s elected to represent.

Mad Man LIEberman contends that wanting to let our troops REST is SNIPING at them. The idiot LIEberman is as crazed as the idiot Mr. (curent corrupt, crooked) president troll who wants to have LIEberman’s baby.
Can a senator be removed if it is proved that he is criminally INSANE?
Insane Trolls belong under the bridge, but what to with do insane senators?
July 9th, 2007 at 10:11 pmThanks Jane. But I’m as mad at Lieberman as I am at Mr. P. They’re both a disgrace. And really, I haven’t seen one member of congress who will fall on their sword for this country. They are all, each and every one, more concerned with keeping their jobs than they are for the welfare of the US. The only people making ANY sacrifice whatsoever are the soldiers in Iraq and we are denying them the most basic protection. They haven’t even received all the armored humvees they should have to prevent some of the brain injuries they suffer. And then we send them back to Iraq with injuries that would have kept them at home even in Viet Nam.
July 9th, 2007 at 10:11 pmThis portion of history can only be compared with Hitler’s Germany, where the people and politicians watched what was happening but did nothing. And the trolls here are like the good soldiers of the Reich.
A progress report on Iraq will conclude that the U.S.-backed government in Baghdad has not met any of its targets for political, economic and other reform, speeding up the Bush administration’s reckoning on what to do next, a U.S. official said Monday.

July 9th, 2007 at 10:14 pmThought Id try this on a newer thread.
What if Bush is not all that dumb? It is possible that he, knowing the great threat of Islam to the west, invaded Iraq with the intention of starting a pan-muslim civil war and knowing the Dems would win this past election and predictably pull the troops out leading to the regional outbreak? The muslims would blow the crap out of each other, the US population would blame the Dems for the escalation, the republicans will win back the congress and the white house and life goes on.

That’s because you turn every thread into a thread about you. This country is going through a time so difficult that grown men want to weep, but you insist on being the center of attention so that we all discuss you instead of the issues.
I don’t know what your motivation for being here is. I don’t really care. But most of us are here to try and make this country and world a better place and you are a huge impediment to that end.
And obviously your latest diversion is to accuse others of having a vendetta against your or of namejacking you. But it’s all crap. It’s just your way, whatever the motivation, of getting attention away from the topic of the thread. We are the minority of this country that even cares about what is going on and you choose to treat us with contempt and side with the people who choose to destroy the greatness the US has always known.
You are a traitor and guilty of treason, and hopefully some day you will pay for your crimes.

Catch it on Raw Story. http://rawstory.com/news/2007/Michael_Moore_shames_CNN_Blitzer_on_0709.html
I love the cracks afterwards by perfect Lou “Airbrush Phony Smile” Dobbs and Cafferty. Poor “Wolf Blitzer” (I couldn’t make up a better, more bogus name for this wimpy character), he had a tough interview in which a guy called CNN out on its BS not once but twice. Ouch. He shouldn’t have to put up with that edgy truthy stuff. No fun. As Cafferty wisecracked, he doesn’t get paid enough. Very revealing as to how these guys think. It’s about the money. Not the truth. Our news media is dead. Morally dead. Brain dead.
MM is just right and these talking buttheads who say they report the news don’t ask the tough questions. They don’t think. You know which of the viable Democratic candidates really sat back and thought? Used his/her head before jumping on the bandwagon to rush into Iraq? Not Hillary and she still won’t even admit she was wrong – another bad reflection on her character if you ask me. Not Edwards either, though he’s trying to spin it into a “Look. I can learn! I’m not brain dead like the rest of them!” moment. Obama. He did. He stopped looked and listened while so many politicians and the media sprinted after Bush, Cheney, Rove, Gonzales and the rest of ‘em like lemmings over a giant, totally foreseeable cliff.
Really. I’ll tell you what’s Sicko. The stupidity of our politicians. The public is getting smarter. They were totally blindsided by a President so evil that he would sacrifice our national interests for partisan and petty personal gain. Unthinkable. But with the media behind these Republican shysters and Murdoch pumping his billions into the mess, the public bought it.
Well they ain’t buying it anymore. The polls show it. The Republicans – the ones still sleeping that is – can whine about it’s his fault, her fault, not my fault, blah blah blah, but America is waking up. July 9th, 2007 at 10:34 pm
Lieberman has as much credibility on Iraq as Graham, McCain, Cheney and Bush. He damages it every time he makes statements that are out of touch with the reality on the ground in Iraq. Soldiers who are serving in Iraq should definitely get rest periods of as much time as they are deployed or even up to a year. Lieberman is no longer a democrat. He was voted out of the democratic party by the voters of CT.
He should have spoken to the soldiers who wanted to know when they would go home but didn’t talk to Lieberman because he has no credibility. Wanting to bring troops home is not a retreat strategy. It is the only option left. Most Americans are not prepared to let even one more American soldier die from an IED attack. It is immoral for him to continue to support a strategy that has failed.
July 9th, 2007 at 10:36 pmwhy is he still head of a Committee? He is no longer a Democrat- his party chose to send someone else, he did lose the Primary, right?
Can anyone easily answer that for me?

July 9th, 2007 at 10:38 pmWhat if Bush is not all that dumb? It is possible that he, knowing the great threat of Islam to the west, invaded Iraq with the intention of starting a pan-muslim civil war and knowing the Dems would win this past election and predictably pull the troops out leading to the regional outbreak? The muslims would blow the crap out of each other, the US population would blame the Dems for the escalation, the republicans will win back the congress and the white house and life goes on.

I wouldn’t call that “not so dumb”, I’d call it “just plain evil”. Leave out the “knowing the great threat of Islam to the west”, he knew no such thing. The rest of it, I wouldn’t put past him. To incite what would most likely become WWIII for mere party politics goes beyond insanity. And that’s what PNAC is all about, the NeoCons’ twisted, insane plan for the world, centered around their inhuman fraternity. Life would not “go on” in any semblance of what that phrase implies.

July 9th, 2007 at 10:42 pmAs someone who’s actually been to Iraq for more than just a secure photo-op visit to an outdoor market, I feel free to say that Joe Lieberman can go to hell.
Lieberman has NO idea what it’s like to be a military member compelled to execute a policy without regard to whether or not he or she agrees with it. He has no idea what it’s like to be a reservist ordered to deploy for the fifth time, after serving once in Afghanistan and three times in Iraq. He has no idea what it’s like to be on active duty and be home from deployment for only a month or two before being ordered to return to combat.
Never mind that the Bush administration lied us into Iraq in the first place. If Lieberman could simply identify a desired end state and a target date for completion, the soldiers he feels free to abuse would have an idea what they’re supposed to accomplish and by when. When the target date keeps changing, when the objective constantly changes or is never defined, when diplomacy and economic persuasion are held in contempt, and when the administration feels free to abuse those of us in uniform, members of the military know who’s REALLY “pro-military.” It’s not Lieberman.

You should read the newspapers more often, you pathetic, social life lacking, petty-minded, namejacking Bush cult follower.

Exactly. When all the Dems had started their defeatist whining, Lieberman chose to do what was best for the country.
He is not another whimpy crowd follower… (e.g. Hillary trying to take back her prior vote of support for the war)
July 9th, 2007 at 10:44 pmOne of you trolls, pray tell, the justification for continuing this war *with* and *for* Iraq. Please explain how after 4 and a half years of your President utterly failing to get his ‘Victory’ with absolutely no end in sight, why, based on what, can you argue to continue to support this travesty? Do you make a habit of supporting perpetuous failures?

July 9th, 2007 at 10:49 pmJane,
Things sure would be different but I dont imagine the motive to be pure political gain. If he believes god told him to invade in the first place maybe he sees a pan-muslim war as the saving event of western civilization.
A regional war when we withdraw is very probable. The Saudis and Iran are sure to square off.
The political fallout on the Dems is likely and to keep gummitch happy Democrat Joe Lieberman will be a hawk dem leader to help the party recover.
July 9th, 2007 at 10:50 pmI would love to know who Lieberman represents, because it aint us.
Someone mentioned Michael Moore’s movie earlier in this thread. My husband is a physician and was actually head of our state’s medical society and is very active in health care reform. His practice is with state aid patients, you know, the ones that other docs don’t wish to see because the insurance reimbursement isn’t that great. He saw Sicko and said it was right on the money. He had actually been nervous about seeing it because he thought Moore was coming after the doctors. He ended up being very impressed and inspired.
July 9th, 2007 at 10:50 pmThough he says he’s an Independent, Lieberman caucuses with the Democrats and votes with them on procedural matters. As a result, he gets to maintain his seniority, committee memberships, and committee chairmanship.
When Jim Jeffords switched from Republican to Independent and began caucusing with Democrats, he ended up chairing two different committees at times when the Democrats held the majority.
Bernie Sanders is an Independent who also caucuses with the Democrats, as he did when he was a US House member. As a result, his seniority and committee memberships are determined by the Democrats.
The Democrats have a 51-49 edge in the Senate at the moment, counting Lieberman and Sanders. In theory, they could kick Lieberman out of the caucus and strip him of his committee chairmanship. However, members of the Senate try to be collegial, and Harry Reid has often expressed his admiration for Lieberman. I think Lieberman should be kicked out of the caucus, but he’ll probably stick with the Dems until the next Republican majority, when he’ll try to switch and take his seniority with him.
July 9th, 2007 at 10:51 pmBack on track.
This is not a Republic/Democrat issue. Joe Lieberman represents the neocon political faction (Karl Rove, Paul Wolfowitz). Not conservative (Reagan, Bush I), not liberal (the Clintons and Kennedys, FDR). Neocon.
Characteristics of the Neocon: Will lie and/or cheat and/or slander to advance self/goals. No military service – in fact neocons are cowards to man (they seem to have no compunction regarding someone else fighting for them). An overwhelming sense of self-entitlement. An overrepresentation of sociopaths within the group.
The only reason the neocons were able to take over the Republic Party, is because that’s where the gullibility is. Republicans are stupid enough to be lied to repeatedly – and, in truly disfunctional fashion, protect thosew who abuse them.
July 9th, 2007 at 10:51 pmLieberman is a perfect example of principle over politics; a man who refuses to be part of the Surrender Caucus.

Geez, now the US is going after Canadian oil:
From the AP,
TORONTO – Canada announced plans Monday to increase its Arctic military presence in an effort to assert sovereignty over the Northwest Passage – a potentially oil-rich region the United States claims is international territory.
Prime Minister Stephen Harper said six to eight patrol ships will guard what he says are Canadian waters. A deep water port will also be built in a region the U.S. Geological Survey estimates has as much as 25 percent of the world’s undiscovered oil and gas.
“Canada has a choice when it comes to defending our sovereignty over the Arctic. We either use it or lose it. And make no mistake, this government intends to use it,” Harper said. “It is no exaggeration to say that the need to assert our sovereignty and protect our territorial integrity in the North on our terms have never been more urgent.”

July 9th, 2007 at 11:34 pmLieberman chairs the homeland security and governmental affairs committee. The ranking Republican and former chairman is Susan Collins of Maine. Collins contributed to and campaigned for Lieberman last year. Collins is up for reelection next year and Lieberman is returning the favor. Lieberman and Collins have also been more collegial than most chairmen and ranking members when it comes to apportioning subcommittee assignments and even the way the chairs are arranged in the committee room. It should be clear that Lieberman is caucusing with Democrats only so he can chair his committee. To me, it seems that if he’s going to reap the benefits he ought to accept the responsibility. As of now, though, no one is holding him to account.
A few years ago former Senator Bob Smith, a right wing whacko from New Hampshire, left the Republican party and ran for President as the candidate of a third party. He made a Senate speech when he left the Republicans in which he absolutely trashed them for abandoning conservative principles. The John Chafee of Rhode Island died and the chairmanship of the Environment and Public Works became vacant. Smith would have had a claim based on seniority, but he was no longer a Republican. NO PROBLEM! He merely rejoined the GOP with his seniority and received his chairmanship as though nothing had ever happened.
Clearly, principles take a back seat to power.

I said people on here and other blogs call it an apartheid state. Well guess what…Syria just invaded parts of lebanon and the world doesnt care, but when Israel lauches rockets….
July 9th, 2007 at 11:53 pmLiberals, progressives, democrats, traitors, listen up? We are at war! Get over it! It’s happened! We’re there! Forget under what pretense? What do you want our government to do? Pull out? Complete surrender? If we pull out, which I don’t believe we will do, how will you respond when Iran, Hezzbolah, and Hamas take over the Middle East and control the world’s oil flow? How will you democrats explain to the American people why we are spending $10 a gallon of gas? No you say this will never happen? The Arabs need the money? You’re correct! The Sheiks and Princes who are in power want all the wealth that goes along with controlling the flow of oil. The radical muslims on the other hand don’t care about wealth, they only want destruction of the west and what better way than controlling the one thing that makes everything work, OIL! I pray you people on the left finally wake up and understand what is at stake here otherwise the left and right in this country will become more than just verbal enemies!

I don’t think it is because Lieberman is Jewish as much as he is pushing Israel’s political agenda which is not what this country wants. I don’t really understand what power Israel has over the policies of this country.. I guess I have a lot more reading to do.
July 9th, 2007 at 11:57 pmIts about time for another round of BUSH LIED us into War
“One way or the other, we are determined to deny Iraq the capacity to develop weapons of mass destruction and the missiles to deliver them.
That is our bottom line.”
President Clinton, Feb. 4, 1998-Truth!
This was a quote from President Clinton during a presentation at the Pentagon defending a decision to conduct military strikes against Iraq.
“If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear.
We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction program.”
President Clinton, Feb. 17, 1998-Truth!
Bill Clinton went to the Pentagon on this occasion to be briefed by top military officials about Iraq and weapons of mass destruction.
His remarks followed that briefing.
“Iraq is a long way from USA but, what happens there matters a great deal here. For the risks that the leaders of a rogue state will use nuclear, chemical or biological weapons against us or our allies is the greatest security threat we face.”
Madeline Albright, Feb 18, 1998-Truth!
This is a quote from Albright during an appearance at Ohio State University by Albright, who was Secretary of State for Bill Clinton.
“He will use those weapons of mass destruction again, as he has ten times since 1983.”
Sandy Berger, Clinton National Security Adviser, Feb, 18, 1998-Truth!
This was at the same Ohio State University appearance as Madeline Albright.
“We urge you, after consulting with Congress, and consistent with the U.S.Constitution and Laws, to take necessary actions, (including, if appropriate,
air and missile strikes on suspect Iraqi sites) to respond effectively to the threat posed by Iraq’s refusal to end its weapons of mass destruction
programs.”
Letter to President Clinton, signed by Sens. Carl Levin, Tom Daschle, John Kerry, and others Oct. 9, 1998-Truth!
According to the U.S. Senate website, the text of this letter was signed by several Senators, both Democrat and Republican, including Senator John McCain and Joseph Lieberman.
“Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process.”
Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D, CA), Dec. 16, 1998-Truth!
The text of this statement by Nancy Pelosi is posted on her congressional website.
“Hussein has .. chosen to spend his money on building weapons of mass destruction and palaces for his cronies.”
Madeline Albright, Clinton Secretary of State, Nov. 10, 1999-Truth!
This was from an appearance Albright made in Chicago.
She was addressing the embargo of Iraq that was in effect at the time and criticism that it may have prevented needed medical supplies from getting into the country. Albright said, “There has never been an embargo against food and medicine. It’s just that Hussein has just not chosen to spend his money on that. Instead, he has chosen to spend his money on building weapons of mass destruction, and palaces for his cronies.”
“There is no doubt that … Saddam Hussein has invigorated his weapons programs. Reports indicate that biological, chemical and nuclear programs
continue a pace and may be back to pre-Gulf War status. In addition, Saddam continues to redefine delivery systems and is doubtless using the cover of a licit missile program to develop longer-range missiles that will threaten the United States and our allies.”
Letter to President Bush, Signed by Sen. Bob Graham (D, FL,) and others, December 5, 2001Truth!
The only letter with this quote from December 5, 2001 that we could find did not include the participation of Senator Bob Graham, but it was signed nine other senators including Democrat Joe Lieberman.
It urged President Bush to take quicker action against Iraq.
“We begin with the common belief that Saddam Hussein is a tyrant and a threat to the peace and stability of the region. He has ignored the mandated of the United Nations and is building weapons of mass destruction and the means of delivering them.”
Sen. Carl Levin (D, MI), Sept. 19, 2002-Truth!
These were remarks from Senator Levin to a Senate committee on that date.
“We know that he has stored secret supplies of biological and chemical weapons throughout his country.”
Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002-Truth!
This and the quote below was part of prepared remarks for a speech in San Francisco to The Commonwealth Club.
“Iraq’s search for weapons of mass destruction has proven impossible to deter and we should assume that it will continue for as long as Saddam is in power.”
Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002-Truth!
“We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is seeking and developing weapons of mass destruction.”
Sen. Ted Kennedy (D, MA), Sept. 27, 2002-Truth!
Part of a speech he gave at Johns Hopkins.
“The last UN weapons inspectors left Iraq in October of 1998.
We are confident that Saddam Hussein retains some stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons, and that he has since embarked on a crash course to build up his chemical and biological warfare capabilities.
Intelligence reports indicate that he is seeking nuclear weapons…”
Sen. Robert Byrd (D, WV), Oct. 3, 2002-Truth!
On the floor of the Senate during debate over the resolution that would authorize using force against Iraq.
He was urging caution about going to war and commented that even though there was confidence about the weapons in Iraq, there had not been the need to take military action for a number of years and he asked why there would be the need at that point.
“I will be voting to give the President of the United States the authority to use force– if necessary– to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security.”
Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Oct. 9, 2002-Truth!
Senator Kerry’s comments were made to the Senate as part of the same debate over the resolution to use force against Saddam Hussein.
“There is unmistakable evidence that Saddam Hussein is working aggressively to develop nuclear weapons and will likely have nuclear weapons within the next five years … We also should remember we have always underestimated
the progress Saddam has made in development of weapons of mass destruction.”
Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D, WV), Oct 10, 2002-Truth!
Senator Rockefeller’s statements were a part of the debate over using force against Saddam Hussein.
“He has systematically violated, over the course of the past 11 years, every significant UN resolution that has demanded that he disarm and destroy his
chemical and biological weapons, and any nuclear capacity. This he has refused to do” Rep. Henry Waxman (D, CA), Oct. 10, 2002-Truth!
Senator Waxman’s contribution to the Senate debate over going to war.
“In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological
weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program.
He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al Qaeda members. It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons.”
Sen. Hillary Clinton (D, NY), Oct 10, 2002-Truth!
Senator Clinton acknowledged the threat of Saddam Hussein but said she did not feel that using force at that time was a good option.
“Without question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime He presents a
July 9th, 2007 at 11:57 pmparticularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation … And now he is miscalculating America’s response to his
continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction
So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real …”
Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Jan.23.2003-Truth!
In a speech to Georgetown University.

However, that doesn’t mean the the Ultra-Rightwing Policies of Israel toward Palistine and Iran aren’t wrong.
they just are. Lots of Israelis feel the same way I do. Millions, in fact.
And there you go with the same type of argument as these trolls here use about Bill Clinton. If Syria does it, then Israel can?
Do you hear that? Syria? you justify the behavior of Israel by comparing it to the a sworn enemy?
And the Palistinians are not Syria. They are oppressed people, living in under an Apartiedesque rule.

Again justifying israels actions by comparing them to dictators? Old habits huh?
if Canada had slaves, it wouldn’t justify the US having slaves.
Do you understand the concept? people are suffering and dying because Rightwingers in Power in Israel have some mythical belief in god Decreeing them a piece of land. God. All told by a book written 2400 years ago. Says they have to be in this piece of land so that the rapture can happen.
This is what happens when 21st Century WarCraft meets Dark Ages Mystisism.
And don’t sound so high and mighty about not needing the US to fight your wars. Why do you think the AIPAC is spending so much time positioning for a preemptive strike in Iran?
The UN would have Israel Sanctioned for Illegally Invading Another Country if not for the single vote that blocks it out of all the Security Council. Ours.
I would like to see how long your 9 little nukes would last if the US turned our collective backs on your Rightwing Party.

You can’t understand the present if you don’t understand the past. Even as individuals, all our pasts shape our present and who we are. Everything we have experienced influences greatly who we are today. It is important to understand how we got here before we can know where to go from here. That is seriously lacking with this Administration. Bush is just frankly scary in how shallow and concrete he is in his thinking. I frankly beieve he is stunted in his brain development, damaged by his alcoholism, and frankly, a sociopath. He has no business being in charge of his own checkbook let alone the policies for an entire nation.

Inspections were working to ensure no war was necessary. Then Bush, not Saddam, ordered the inspectors to leave Iraq, and began the war on the false claim that Iraq had WMD.
And, BTW, most of those senators have confessed that they did not read the full classified briefing that contained all the caveats that downplayed events in Iraq more than the “public” version (the one that expressed everything as a virtual certainty).
Any way you look at it, Bush & Co. lied to start an unnecessary war for reasons that had nothing to do with their publicly stated ones.

As a matter of fact, the inspectors found and removed WMDs during the 90’s when Scott Ritter was an inspector. They actually cleared up the weapons and got rid of them. The Iraq Occupation has removed none. Period.

You’re wasting your time, JG. Soon the michael troll was ask you if daycare got early, or if you’re in the 6th grade — ya know, really “witty” stuff. He is a Master Debater, who will ask endlessly “Why? Why? Why?” Truly stunning…. :D

No, You are wrong, and you are misusing my words. I am not justifying anything. I said put it in perspective before calling it apartheid, which it is NOT.
“Criticizing Israel is not anti-Semitic, and saying so is vile. But singling out Israel for opprobrium and international sanction — out of all proportion to any other party in the Middle East — is anti-Semitic, and not saying so is dishonest.”-Thomas L. Friedman, NYT

Yes, I know. That’s in the report from the link. And by 1998, they were confident everything had been destroyed or made unusable for WMD purposes, with some minor “dual-use” materials. The pre-invasion inspections were concentrating on reports of new activities in the four years since. Every new building was inspected, and none were found to be involved in WMD production.
Simply put, Iraq was nowhere near the threat Bush & Co. made them out to be. That is simply a fact, which is why some people refuse to acknowledge it.
July 10th, 2007 at 1:01 amNext war monger dittohead you run into try this. Instead of arguing with them…agree with them. Then casually interject the fact that the troops are in desperate need of reinforcement – a draft is warranted and sorely needed. Make sure you say “god bless the troops†or “god bless Americaâ€. Funny how their views seem to change.
Wanna see Bush and Cheney go down? Reinstate the draft or convince folks it will happen if our aggression keeps up. BushCo knows a draft is needed but is too chicken $hit to do it…they KNOW what would happen.

WASHINGTON – A progress report on Iraq will conclude that the U.S.-backed government in Baghdad has not met any of its targets for political, economic and other reform, speeding up the Bush administration’s reckoning on what to do next, a U.S. official said Monday.
And willyloman,
You tell me what you want israel to do?
Oh by the way, all the suicide bombing in the world is from the US and Israel waging war on Muslims. Well guess what, 70 percent of muslims want strict sharia law imposed in every muslim country, and 20 percent of muslims think suicide bombing killing civillians is OK. worldpublicopinion.org.

Ritter said that Powells assertion at the UN in the “Web of Lies” speach, when he held up the vial of white powder and said that iraq had Anthax like this, was completely wrong.
Ritter said that everyone knew in the intelligence field that they couldn’t refine it to that level. It was more like sludge and that there was no way Powell didn’t know that.
July 10th, 2007 at 1:15 amSo, gee, after two, three deployments you’d think the troops would really appreciate equal time off. Most of the country knows that these guys are seriously burned out. Webb’s amendment seems like sane and humane thing to do. But Liebermann, from his wacko perspective, sees this as another form of sniping? This doesn’t even remotely make sense. How is R & R a hostile act? Can you imagine the troops raising hell about this opportunity to rest between deployments? What does this have to do with either defeat or retreat? Better to just sign ‘em up for one long four year deployment, right Joe?
July 10th, 2007 at 1:27 amOne good thing about the cons stealing the election in 2000…this bastard never was our VP. He would be as bad as Cheney.

This doesn’t matter at all, Wayne. Saddam did not comply with UN resolutions, he acted like a lunatic, so rather than risk it, we took him out.
Plain and simple.
Your point is moot.
July 10th, 2007 at 1:43 am# 213 – Comment by FDR — July 9, 2007 @ 11:57 pm – Quoting Democrats about WMD’s in Iraq.
Despite those statements (IF FDR didn’t just pull them out of her/his a$$, which is HIGHLY LIKELY!), many of those s/he quoted voted AGAINST the invasion of Iraq.
Moral: The current corrupt, crooked president didn’t fool ALL of the people ALL of the time!
Members of the Senate who voted AGAINST the invasion (and subsequent occupation and destruction) of Iraq:
Akaka Durbin Mikulski
Bingaman Feingold Murray
Boxer Graham Reed
Byrd Inouye Sarbanes
Chafee Jeffords Stabenow
Conrad Kennedy Wellstone
Corzine Leahy Wyden
Dayton Levin
In the House, 132 Democrats, including Nancy Pelosi, and 1 Republican voted AGAINST the invasion.
Despite the current corrupt, crooked administrations lies about the WMD’s, some weren’t fooled.
July 10th, 2007 at 2:02 amWhy do Lefties want to see mass genocide in the Middle East?
July 10th, 2007 at 2:15 amShut up, Joe.
July 10th, 2007 at 2:25 amSomeone please run Lieberman out of town.
July 10th, 2007 at 2:27 amHmmm, Lieberman was re-elected by the people of his state regardless of the fact that all of his Democrat cohorts bailed on him. He has stood his ground on the war on terror, and on the Iraq war. The people know what backbone is, and what backbone is not, and voted accordingly. Don’t like it? Either move to Connecticut and vote him out, or move out of Connecticut to a happier place…like New York?? (From some of the posts here, there’s probably too many Jews in New York for you as well, but at least it exposes those Anti-Semites for what they are.)
As for the person in an earlier post who made the statement that Joe Lieberman is the “whiniest” adult ever….Hmmm, have you read the whiners here?
July 10th, 2007 at 3:37 amI know I’m not saying anything that hasn’t probably been said previously in this quite long thread of comments (outside of some Rape-Public-Can’s [thanks Heterodoxy ;D] post) but Lieberman is the quintessential pansy … or do I mean patsy? meh. Both.
So, Democrats are sniping at guys like this:

???
Yeah, that’s why he’s suing the Army. I hope with all that’s in me he wins.
July 10th, 2007 at 3:50 am…..against all enemies, foreign and domestic. Go fug yourself Sen. Droopy.
July 10th, 2007 at 4:03 amClearly Lieberman doesn’t represent the views of the American public, who have strongly turned against this Iraq war…so who could he possibly be representing??
>>Voters in three of the four countries surveyed also overwhelmingly reject the decision to invade Iraq, with only Israeli voters in favour, 59% to 34%

So there are genocides and then there are mass genocides?
Why dontcha check into one of those hermetically sealed showers, man for a quick freshening-up? You would spare people the disgrace of your postings.
July 10th, 2007 at 5:14 amWhat a tool, indeed.
Requiring the President NOT to exhaust our troops is ’sniping’ at troops?
Riiiigggghhhhtttt….
July 10th, 2007 at 6:33 amI can’t believe there are such high stream people like Lieberman that spew this garbage. It makes me sick. All of you who support sending these troops back over and over again – making fathers and mothers miss most of their Children’s lives should support the DRAFT. If this was is SOOOOO IMPORTANT, then why don’t we ask all Americans to do it? Why do we cut taxes during war?
Anyone who supported Lieberman on this thread should be ashamed unless they are on their way to the recruiter’s office right now to help share the burden of defending this country.
July 10th, 2007 at 8:24 amyeah, let’s give them a break… let them have the time off that they’ve earned!
July 10th, 2007 at 8:38 am“the reason why back-stabbing Lieberman is allow to shot off his stupid mouth is because of the mainstream media.”
This is true. All LIEberman needs to do is to burp and it’s front page coverage. Wherein if Nancy Pelosi or Harry Reid have something to say, unless it’s controversial (meaning it’s something the Republics can distort to make them look bad), it is never reported in the news. It’s that damn liberal media. They just love LIEberman.
July 10th, 2007 at 9:18 amShut up, joe. You only want the troops for one thing and that is your foreign agent agenda. Use them again joe. It’s what you know how to do.
July 10th, 2007 at 9:31 amLieberman is so weak. He should put some boots on and walk a soldiers mile. I bet he would spew ignorance a lot less. Take it from a vet, you need down time or you ass will go crazy. And being marched miles in 100 degree heat aint no fun. In fact its down right miserable. Add to the fact people are trying to kill you ass all the time and its enough to break a weak man like Lieberman. I know this, I am glad my service time is over, cause listening to shit like Lieberman says would drive me insane if I was over there.

Yet he was re-elected by his constituents regardless of the Democrat Surrender Monkeys turning on him. (Yeah, THOSE Democrats, the party of “tolerance and inclusion”, whom he agreed with on nearly every issue EXCEPT the Iraq war.)
Time for a reality check, folks:
Lieberman was re-elected despite his pro-Iraq war stance, which he has not wavered from, and despite his support of President Bush on this issue. So explain again exactly how he is clearly not representing the views of the American public?
Regardless, he’s not required to represent the views of the American public. Only the views of the people who elected him, the citizens of Connecticut, who re-elected him.
July 10th, 2007 at 9:33 amAIPAC / AEI / API / CEI etc wants our troops there and in Iran as well not the American people. WE MUST outlaw lobbying period in Washington.

uh. LIEberman toned down his pro war rhetoric while campainging
July 10th, 2007 at 2:17 pmand was critical (if measured) of how the war is handled. The money and support he got from repugs combined with his outright LIEing got him elected. spew your bs elsewhere.
Joe should get the boot – he may as well be a repug as he is so reliably supports this fiasco of an occupation.
There is no surrender caucus. There is no surrender needed. There is withdrawal from occupied territory. There is retreat from invasion. But if we were to surrender, who exactly would we surrender to? Can you answer that question. When pulling out of Iraq, who would we be surrendering to?
Al Qaeda and the rest of Islam. Why do you want Hillary to send the troops back after the situation deteriorates?
July 10th, 2007 at 2:35 pmIn fact the Democrats do not have to stroke Lieberman to keep their Senate majority. Rules of organization adopted at the start of the current session would leave the Democrats in charge even if the Senate was 50-50. Maybe they want to keep one extra as the margin for error, in the event of an unexpected death or resignation?
New organization rules can be passed.
July 10th, 2007 at 2:38 pmDo human beings come any more rotten than Jerusalem Joe?
July 10th, 2007 at 3:51 pmGosh someone still give this guy a microphone to talk into. This does not look to me like an enemy that is on the run. Crap our guys fly over there and have to sit in the green zone. Correct me if I’m wrong but wasn’t Iraq an unarmed nation? And we’re still at this. Give me a break.
